Joining RPGs:

These forums are primarily designed to facilitate RPGs, getting good folks together to play.  As a general rule, all new RPGs are announced in the Bulletin Board section, providing the best time to join a game if you spot one that is interesting to you.  To do this, post there answering the GM placing the call for players and then work with them.

If you want to join a game already in motion, the best action is to privately contact a GM for that game.  Ask privately if the GM has a spot and more specifically let it be known that you'd like to get in if he does so that he's aware that there are folks who are interested.  If you are, it is good custom to pay close attention to the game.  Chit-chatting in the OOC boards for a game is generally welcomed by most GMs.

Leaving RPGs:

To leave an RPG, first talk with the GM.  Never vanish on them unannounced.  It really is brutal to games when that happens and tends to result in the same GMs and players being less likely to ask you back for another game or accept you back when you ask.  If at all possible, give the GM as much advanced notice as you can.  Help them write you out of the story or pass your character along.  At the worst, make sure they are aware though.  From there, the GM will contact one of the admins to have you removed from the posting group for the game.
