Mini Game Logs / Re: The Ancient Invisible Flyi...
Last post by Corwin - August 03, 2026, 02:33:45 AM
20:51 <•Kotono> Before another round can come? Skaya enters, a little pale, but intact. Sanda looks up quickly, "Skaya! There you are."
20:51 <•Kotono> "You brought a friend, too," Rina turns, "Oh well, still a good time. You alright?"
20:52 <Devar> "I know that face." Devar says, rising to go tap Skaya with his handy Rod of Bodily Restoration. OOC con damage healed
20:53 <Skaya> "I got transported right into a fight with some crazy elementals! But going back was painful."
20:56 <Devar> "Well, at least you got back." Devar says. "But it sounds like we're going tomorrow?"
20:58 <Skaya> "Yes! Your candle is actually very inaccurate!"
20:59 <Devar> "It's not -my- candle!" Devar says. "But let me see if I can provide more information either way." OOC: just for the sake of getting it officially identified I will Identify it today
21:00 <Skaya> "Please glance over my new spear as well?" Skaya asks. "Ah, be careful, it's a bit frosty."
21:00 <•Kotono> OOC: Sure. Okay then, any other prep before going the next day? Well, that and the spear.
21:01 <Skaya> OOC: I'm sure Anne wastes a spell to heal me so no prep
21:01 <Devar> OOC: none here
21:05 <•Kotono> OOC: Quick post of what you'd expect.
21:08 <•Kotono> The next morning's cooler, summer's end coming closer. The party gets together, ready to go. OOC: Up to y'all how you're getting to Dareslan.
21:09 <Skaya> "I'll try to teleport us to just outside Dareslan?" Skaya proposes.
21:09 <Devar> Devar nods. "I'll be ready to fix you up." He says.
21:13 <•Kotono> "Somewhere we know," Sanda says, "The last thing we need is a mishap."
21:14 <Skaya> "I'll do my best and leave the rest to chance!" Though with her deity, perhaps he'd consider a mishap lucky?
21:14 <•Kotono> roll 1d6 con Skaya
21:14 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d6 con Skaya --> [ 1d6=5 ]{5}
21:14 <•Kotono> roll 2d10 regular
21:14 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 2d10 regular --> [ 2d10=10 ]{10}
21:14 <•Kotono> OOC: Give me a d100.
21:14 <Skaya> roll 1d100
21:14 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=6 ]{6}
21:23 <•Kotono> Woosh! The party appears outside Dareslan as Skaya feels suddenly sick and weak once more, her stomach churning and chest burning. Ow.
21:23 <•Kotono> Rina looks up, the weather a little warmer here and with hints of cloudiness. "Not perfect weather, but it'll do," she muses.
21:23 — Skaya gives Devar a thumbs up, blood dripping from her lips.
21:24 <•Kotono> Anne is at the ready, "Go ahead, Devar," Anne says, "I'll mend whatever needs mending after your rod works."
21:24 <Devar> Devar taps her once with the Rod. OOC 4 points of con healing
21:25 <Devar> "Was that enough? You look worse than usual." Devar says.
21:25 <Skaya> "Almost."
21:26 <Devar> He taps her again! OOC 4 more
21:27 <•Kotono> Anne follows that up with a light tap of Skaya's arm. OOC: CLW.
21:27 <•Kotono> roll 1d8+5
21:27 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d8+5 --> [ 1d8=8 ]{13}
21:28 <•Kotono> Skaya's injuries mend, leaving her in good health once more, excepf for the taste of blood in her mouth.
21:28 <Skaya> "Thanks!" Skaya tells her friends, swallowing the blood back. "Want to fly around and see if anything happens, or go check out the library first?"
21:30 <Devar> "Maybe the library and the temple of Mystra? They might have better history books." Devar says.
21:30 <Skaya> "Sure, let's go and say hi!"
21:32 <•Kotono> Looking up in thought, "I suspect if information about this was easily found and it exists, it would be known by now," Anne counters, "Dareslan does not lack fliers, which leads me to believe that it does exist, it is higher up than most fliers can go. The air gets thinner high in the sky, which would not impeded the dead in the slightest."
21:33 <Devar> "Either that or it's so old no one remembers or believes it." Devar says.
21:35 <•Kotono> Thus, the party heads in. As you reach the gates, guards look and point, "The heroes of Dareslan!" One calls, as another shouts the same. "The heroes of Dareslan!"
21:36 <Devar> "Aw, that's always nice to hear." Devar says as he will look up and wave.
21:41 <•Kotono> The others wave as well, Anne smiling. Rina perks up as Sanda struts forward, nothing but a big, dopey smile on her face. "Come in," they part for you without a single word, "Do you need anything?"
21:42 <Devar> "We're looking for information on a local legend." Devar explains. "Can you point us to the best place for older history?" He says. "Like... really old."
21:43 <Skaya> "There seem to be all sorts of wonders spread out across the land," Skaya pipes up. In a sense, is an invisible ancient flying castle more otherworldly than what they'd found beneath Mellanics?
21:48 <•Kotono> "The High Reeve would know best, sirs and ma'ams," Is the answer, "He would be honored to meet all of you, or go to the temple of Mystra. They have many books there."
21:49 <Devar> "We may as well ask him first. They haven't sent him somewhere else since we were here last time, right?" Devar asks with a smile.
21:49 <Skaya> "It's only right to say hello when we visit!"
21:53 <•Kotono> "Not at all, sirs," You get salutes as you pass through, into Dareslan. Looks too, people stopping to stare, to wave, or call our your names. There's a bakery not far from the gates and a young woman rushes out, shoving fresh loaves of bread into Devar and Sanda's arms. "Here!"
21:53 <•Kotono> "Thank you," Anne accepts with grace, leaning forward to nab a roll. It's good white bread, fancy and well made. It's not cheap peasant bread, still steaming warm from the oven.
21:55 <Devar> "You are too kind." Devar says, happily breathing in the smell. Maybe they can gift the soldiers a nice snack later.
21:56 <•Kotono> "You saved my father's life," the woman says, "Come by anytime," she says as you pass, nothing but eager cheer.
21:56 <•Kotono> Rina has a bit herself, "There's some real perks to surviving all this."
21:57 <Devar> "The silver linings to that madman." Devar says.
21:58 — Skaya snags a roll for herself, and tears it in half. Who can say no to freshly-baked bread? She takes a bite, while offering the other half to Liza.
22:01 <•Kotono> Liza takes it happily as you head on...next time!

19:01 <•Kotono> OOC: SKaya in #evil.
19:02 <•Kotono> You're all preparing the next day when Sanda pokes into Devar's room. "Skaya's missing, jus tnow. I think she's shipside again."
19:05 <Devar> "Well, it's good I gave her that magic candle." Devar says, but then he tilts his head. "Why aren't you gone too? I figured you both would get called back like last time."
19:06 <•Kotono> "Who knows?" Sanda admits, "Statistically speaking, I suspect there's enough variance to keep people guessing."
19:07 <Devar> "Probably. Well, she can get back to us, so I figure we may as well wait for a bit unless we hear otherwise?"
19:08 <•Kotono> "Unless we do. I'd Sending her, but I didn't prepare it this morning," With a look of pique, "I have a battle spell set prepared, just in case this castle exists."
19:12 → Kobot joined (~dunefar@1520885F.E43ECEC5.F259B257.IP)
19:13 <Devar> He nods. "We can wait either way. Is there anything to do in the meantime?"
19:16 <•Kotono> "Depends on how long it takes Skaya to get back here," Sanda frowns a ltitle, "We don't know, so I'm inclined to play cards with Rina and Anne to pass a little time. Ideally, Skaya comes right back."
19:19 <Devar> "She should, unless something prevents plane shifting." Devar says.
19:21 <•Kotono> "I hope so. Anne's annoyingly good at games," With a huff now, utterly unamused, "
19:21 <•Kotono> OOC: Gah.
19:21 <•Kotono> "I hope so. Anne's annoyingly good at games," With a huff now, utterly unamused, "Apparently she plays so many of them with her charges that she's gotten good at them. Rina's good too, so I always lose money."
19:24 <Devar> "Just apply some of your tried and true statistics." Devar says with a smile.
19:33 <•Kotono> "I was hoping you'd come help me with it," Sanda prompts, "After all,t wo heads are better than one."
19:36 <Devar> "I'm not much of a planner, but I'll do my best." He promises.
19:42 <•Kotono> Sanda leads you along. You find Rina and Anne sorting out a small pile of copper coins, an assortment gathered from across your travels. All of minimal value, but plentiful. Both are in full gear but sit in the earl ymorning sunshine. "We may as well enjoy a little bit of leisure before we go forth," Anne offers, "At least until we see or hear word from Skaya."
19:43 <•Kotono> "And take Sanda's money. You've been on the worst streak lately," Rina sits back, "Morning, Devar. Hopefully Skaya's back, I'm ready to move."
19:47 <Devar> "I'm sure she's just tied up with something." Devar says. "I wouldn't worry. So what's the game?"
19:50 <•Kotono> "Dragon's Eye. Ever played?" Rina shuffles in the meantime.
19:50 <•Kotono> "It's fairly simple, "Anne goes on, "After all, what's most precious in a dragon's eye, besides treasure?"
19:51 <Devar> "I haven't, but these sorts of things are always easy to pick up and hard to master." He says.
19:52 ↔ Devar nipped out
20:01 <•Kotono> "It's a fairly simple game. Every player is dealt cards and the goal is to match pairs of cards, except for queens," Anne goes on, "You start the game by putting down any pairs you have, except for queens. After that, players take turns drawing a single card from any othe rplayer's hand, and if they make a pair except for a queen, they put it down. To win, you have to have no cards in your hand
20:01 <•Kotono> except for queens, and at least one queen in hand to win. The game's named for the old legend of dragons kidnapping princesses, the most valuable things in their eyes. Anyway, there's wagering before the initial deal, and if you have more than one queen in your hand when you win, players have to pay you more than your wager. Double, triple or quadruple, if you have all four queens when you
20:01 <•Kotono> win."
20:02 <•Kotono> "I'd never heard of it," Sanda admits, "But apparently it's played in taverns and sometimes with children who get their hands on cards."
20:02 <•Kotono> "It's because it's fun drunk, but most any card game that's not too complicated is fun when you're drunk," Rina counters, "ESpecially if you can win money playing."
20:05 <•Kotono> "Anything's fun if you're drunk enough, just as anything's sad if you're drunk enough and that sor tof drunk." Anne sounds less than amused, "That's the great trickiness of drink. A single drink loosens you, two lightens you and four drowns you."
20:05 <•Kotono> "All I know is that getting drunk leads to horrible decisions," Sanda counters, "AT least as far as businesses go."
20:06 <•Kotono> "That sounds like a story," Rina comments, leaning forward a bit. "Is it a good one?"
20:06 <•Kotono> "Eh. Mor einteresting than Anne, less interesting than playing." Sanda brushes it aside, "Unless you care about the price of turnips."
20:07 <Devar> Devar nods. "So the goal is tracking who has or had queens while prioritizing getting cards out of your hand. Got it." He says.
20:08 <•Kotono> With a long suffering sigh, "One day I'm just going to punch you in the face because my patience fails." As cards are dealt, "Exactly so. Of course, that means shuffling your cards to confound other players, particularly when they look away."
20:09 <•Kotono> "We'll play a hand without betting, in case Skaya's back quick and to give you a chance to learn," Rina offers, "But it's a good game to not take too seriously and have fun. Besides, it's only copper coins."
20:10 <•Kotono> "Only," Anne coughs once, "Truly we are besodden in wealth to speak in such terms."
20:11 <Devar> "That's the adventuring life." Devar agrees with a smile.
20:22 <•Kotono> "See? As I said, less interesting."Sanda says as you play. Is' as olid enough game, though luck seems on...
20:22 <•Kotono> roll 1d4 topic HP order
20:22 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d4 topic HP order --> [ 1d4=4 ]{4}
20:23 <•Kotono> Rina's side. A few hands and she has a nice pile of copper coins, while Sanda outright pouts. Anne accepts it with good graces, even as Sanda glares death.
20:24 <Devar> Devar just smiles. "I wonder how many people convert to Tymora during these games."
20:31 <•Kotono> "Too many," Sanda flops face down onto her arms, "I shouldn't have bet so much last hand. I hate everything about this game."
20:32 <•Kotono> "Still no Skaya right away, but I hope soon," Anne looks out a nearby window, into the morning sunshine. "If not today, then I can spent time at home."
20:34 <Devar> "Luck plays a significant portion in these games." Devar says. "Sometimes it's just chance."
20:36 <•Kotono> That gets Rina another Sanda glare, while Anne goes up to the window. She looks out it, "Maybe a flight would be better," she muses, "The peril of waiting on one person."
20:37 <•Kotono> "I can wait," Rina says, "I cleared the day."
20:38 <Devar> "Isn't patience a virtue of Mount Celestia?" Devar asks with a bright smile.
20:50 <•Kotono> Anne chuckles at that, but doesn't argue the point.

19:01 <•Kotono> ---
19:02 <•Kotono> Huh. Skaya relaxes and loses track of some time. She doesn't quite doze, but after losing herself in thought for a few minutes, she blinks and realizes she's in a familiar place. Sanda's chosen storefront on board, though with a distinct lack of Sanda this time.
19:04 <Skaya> Sanda will probably spend a Sending on her-- oh geez, one more spell she should really try and get in a convenient ring form. Since she's back on the ship, Skaya heads out to look for Liza!
19:05 <•Kotono> Woah! As you start to step out, the entire ship shakes. It's not a small shake, either.
19:06 — Skaya is briefly disoriented before her belt kicks in and stabilizes her! Then, Skaya makes her way to the top deck!
19:07 <•Kotono> You race out - ah! In the hallis battle. Crew members face down great masses of ice ni human form. They range from human sized to triple it, each armed with a spear of frost. Savage swashbuckling goes on all ahead as you peek out, a pitched battle. "Everyone!" The captain's voice is heard, bellowing, "We're setting sail. Hold on and keep repelling the attackers! Make them pay for this!"
19:08 — Skaya looks for any signs of a leader among the icy invaders.
19:10 <•Kotono> OOC: PErception here, +1 bonus.
19:10 <•Kotono> OOC: I shall rouse the dread Kobot.
19:11 <Skaya> OOC: I'll take 10 for 31
19:12 → Kobot joined (~dunefar@1520885F.E43ECEC5.F259B257.IP)
19:15 <•Kotono> By and large, you notice your side is winning. One small dwarf darts amid a larger one, around his legs and using an axe to cut deep. On another, a human with branches for hair and tree bark like skin boxes a disarmed one, winning that fight steadily. Another dodges spears as darts of fire come from his extended hand. At the stairs going to the desk, expression impassive, is a large ice
19:15 <•Kotono> creature, standing guard and with both spear and shield at the ready. He's not facing anyone right now, but instead looming, a presence that seems to bolster all of the ice elementals or whatever they are.
19:16 — Skaya dashes towards the large ice creature! If that's how it is, she should hit it a few times!
19:17 <•Kotono> Skaya begins the dash. She races along the battlefield, and as she goes? Suddenly cold bursts around her, as a creature of ice emits a blast of it towards its foe, and you end up clipped by it. "For treasure adn glory," You hear a call at the same time, "Capture those spears!"  OOC: Ref.
19:18 <Skaya> OOC: Ice immunity
19:18 <Skaya> OOC: Well, cold immunity
19:19 <•Kotono> The cold doesn't even slow Skaya down, as her advance is seen. Spear and shield are readied, as...OOC: Init, the two of you.

19:34 <•Kotono> WHAM! A direct hit to the creature's chest, knocking it back and up several stairs. It doesn't go down from it and instead whirls its spear, before lunging dead on at Skaya. In the background clangs and battle cries sound, and above you can hear much of the same.

19:52 ↔ Devar nipped out
19:53 <•Kotono> A solid hit after two blocks, a blow to its side. The ice creature is knocked back, a wet, ice choked gurgle of pain from that kick. Ice falls from the strike, but it's still up. In low, silibant words of Common, "Retreat!" he calls, withdrawing away from you and up the stairs. OOC: Withdraw action to get out of range and scurry away. More.
19:53 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
19:53 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=3 ]{3}
19:54 <•Kotono> No one immediately follows, at least that you see, but you can hear cheers go up from the defenders.
19:54 — Skaya gives chase! Perhaps she'll catch this creature, or even one of the others fleeing, now that his protective aura is gone! Spears... there was something about getting their spears, wasn't there?
20:04 <•Kotono> Skaya races up the steps, onto the deck. The ship's in a fierce blizzard as you might expect from this realm, off to sea. Ice creatures are leaping off deck, retreating. It's a battle but a winning one, looks like.
20:04 — Skaya looks for a straggler to kick!
20:07 <•Kotono> OOC: Perception, +5 since you made it up fast enough.
20:08 <Skaya> OOC: 10 for 35
20:10 <•Kotono> There! A dazed and stumbling one, spear in hand, is lurching towards the side of the ship. No one's around him but he's moving slow.

20:13 <•Kotono> Head 0, Skaya's foot 1. Skaya's kick shatters an icy head, the creature collapsing. No blood or anything, just ice. Its spear falls to the ground, unprotected and up for grabs. Got it!
20:14 — Skaya cheerfully picks up her spoils!
20:16 <•Kotono> IT's icy cold, not that this bothers you. Meanwhile cheers erupt as the battle is won. The enemy is routed, in retreat or defeated. Whew. OOC: Free act, anow you have a spear. Up to yo uwhat you do now.
20:21 — Skaya goes to look for Liza anew!
20:23 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
20:23 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=55 ]{55}
20:23 <•Kotono> "Skaya!" Liza hurries up from belowdecks as you look about, gettin ga few thumps on the back and a single hug from a giant of a man. "You're back!"
20:24 <Skaya> "Just in time for a fight!" Skaya responds. "How did that come to be?"
20:30 <•Kotono> "Something went wrong in port," LIza explains succinctly. "I'm not sure what, but we had to leave suddenly."
20:32 <Skaya> "It can't be helped," Skaya says with a shrug. "But now things seem good? How about it, want to return and go exploring together? There's a rumor about an invisible flying castle filled with undead and treasure!"
20:35 <•Kotono> "Is there?" Liza looks interested, "Can you take us back?"
20:36 <Skaya> "Let's go over to Sanda's shop and try in relative privacy?"
20:37 <•Kotono> "Off ship," Liza shakes her head, "Let's do it off ship."
20:38 <Skaya> "That works as well," Skaya agrees. "Let's go! It's not a very complicated magic device."
20:41 <•Kotono> Thus you go out and...OOC: Which device are you using?
20:42 <Skaya> OOC: <Devar> "I'm not sure if you want to hold onto this," He says as he also produces the scrap of paper with the magical phrase for it. "It's a plane-shifting candle. Light it, say the phrase, and off you go. It reforms after a day. We're borrowing it until we have something more permanent amongst us. Oh - yeah, we visited Bytopia after the kerfuffle on Ice, but that isn't where we got this."
20:45 <•Kotono> roll 5d100
20:45 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 5d100 --> [ 5d100=265 ]{265}
20:46 <•Kotono> The candle is lit and away you go. Ah! You appear in a barn of all things. A barn that smells like a barn, full of hay, horses and cows. Liza wrinkles her nose, "Cattle smell the worst," she says in a voice of disgust, "I hate barns, they concentrate the smells."
20:47 <Skaya> "Let's teleport over to Rina's place," Skaya decides. "We'll handle everything else after." Then, taking Liza's hand, she focuses on the entrance to Rina's keep.
20:49 <•Kotono> The ring is activated and...

20:49 <•Kotono> Whoosh! You appear right where desired, even if the ring takes it's price, surely enough. A grimace and an ache, but you're back.
20:50 — Skaya coughs some blood but looks proud of her accomplishment all the same!

21:30 <•Kotono> Soon enough, everyone gets together at Rina's. A cheer goes up with the news about Storm's Eye, but after that. "An entire flying palace of undead?" Anne asks, "Seriously?"
21:30 <Skaya> "Invisible, too!"
21:31 <Devar> "You can't even make something like that up. I wonder if any of the history books there would help. But seriously, how unlucky is that place?" Devar asks.
21:32 <Skaya> "That place is either super cursed or indeed someone made this up," Skaya says cheerfully. "But! If it's real, do you realize what it means? Treasure! And also, I call dibs on the flying invisible palace!"
21:34 <Devar> "Does a flying invisible palace do much for you?" Devar asks. "I mean... either way, sure, that's fine." He adds with a laugh. "I wonder if you can move it."
21:35 <Skaya> "It surely can fly elsewhere! Otherwise it would be described as the invisible floating palace!"
21:38 <•Kotono> "Optimistic, aren't you?" Rina considers, "But I think it's a tleast worth looking into. We can make a day of it."
21:39 ⇐ Devar quit (~ryan.scud@AA0F7DBB.E34A7B23.BA4AC9A9.IP) Ping timeout: 180 seconds
21:39 <•Kotono> "At the least, we can look into it," Anne agrees, "I have my doubts for many reasons, but at worst it's a fool's venture tha tonly costs us time and effort."

21:40 <Skaya> "And a bit of backlash from the teleport. I'll teleport us, you'll heal me right back?"
21:41 <Devar> "I can restore any bodily damage you take." Devar says. "So Anne doesn't have to waste anything."
21:41 <Skaya> "I thought it was her hobby, though."
21:41 <Devar> "No, her hobby is lecturing Sanda." Devar says.
21:41 <Skaya> "You're allowed more than one hobby, surely."
21:42 <Devar> "That's fair." He agrees.
21:47 <•Kotono> Anne sighs tiredly while Sanda hmphs. Rina finds it funny, laughing before, "Then it's agreed." OOC: Okay, it's near end of session so thi sis purely prep. Any needed prep or setup for this?
21:48 <Skaya> OOC: If we're going the next day, let's have Sanda use a Sending to Liza to let her know we're going on a short trip the next day.
21:50 <•Kotono> OOC: That works. Also give me a quick d100, lower the better, Skaya.

19:22 <Ko> "Bland and inoffensive," The storm rumbles. "A helpful spirit."
19:22 <Ko> "More than I already am?
19:23 <Ko> "More than I already am?" Storm's Eye scoffs, "Look at it? There's Anne the motherly but stern type. Then you have Sanda, the snooty intellectual who has book smarts but low life smarts. If that's not your style, you have the fiery and sporty Rina, and don't even let me get started about Skaya's entire routine."
19:24 <Devar> "Have you had any amount of success courting anyone with your current way of doing things?" Devar asks. "So far, they all seem to try and avoid you, at least from my perspective."
19:28 <Ko> That gets a grump, a loud grumble before, "You need to control your women better, that's why."
19:30 <Devar> "I definitely don't need to do that, I think you need to recognize that the way you are now isn't going to get you what you want." Devar says. "I'm not suggesting I just reset you to a blank slate, but isn't the opportunity to become more than you are now one you should pursue? I'll be with you the whole way, I promise."
19:33 <Ko> "This would be way better if Anne were here. Especially if she took off that armor of hers, and maybe even everything to carry me into this storm," Storm's Eye complains, voice becoming energetic by the end. "What weapon doesn't dream of being borne by a nude maiden in flight?"
19:33 <Ko> "In our experience with creatures of flesh and weapons alike, you're the only one who wants that," One of the storm creatures rumbles.
19:34 <Devar> "Plenty of them." Devar says. "But you're stuck with me. I brought you here to help you, remember? So let's go all the way and get you through this."
19:43 <Ko> You get the feeling you're getting glared or pouted at somehow. "It sounds so boring," Storm's Eye complains nonetheless.
19:46 <Devar> "I'm not saying we just erase your personality." Devar says. "I don't even think that's possible." He actually doesn't know, but he really doesn't want to go that route if they can help it. He turns to address the elementals, "Do you think it'd be possible to restore all his memories? Or, if not that, what can we do about the piece of lust lingering in him?"
19:50 <Ko> "We're the storm. Our approach is to use lightning on him until the problem is fixed, but it requires him not to fight it," The storm answers back.
19:51 <Devar> "You can be brave for the ladies back home, right?" Devar asks. "I'll be right here with you the whole time."
19:58 <Ko> OOC: Diplo check, -3 penalty, but you at least get one here.
20:00 <Devar> OOC: May as well summon the bot and see how much she hates me'
20:04 → Kobot joined (~dunefar@F539ECD7.49836061.B227C4EE.IP)
20:04 <Ko> OOC: Good luck with Kobot.

20:05 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+17 I think taking 10 would fail anyway so chancing the 50% --> [ 1d20=15 ]{32}
20:13 <Ko> After a long pause, "...you sure you won't talk Anne into it?" Storm's Eye seems grouchy about it, but less resistant.
20:14 <Devar> "She'd definitely disown both of us if I asked her." Devar says. "But think of how proud she'll be of what you accomplished here? She might even hug you."
20:17 <Ko> "...Are you really sure?" Storm's Eye sighs deeply. "Like you'll survive a few mace hits."
20:18 <Devar> "You won't know until you try." He says. "So, you ready?" He asks. "I'll be right here, and I'm sure Lady Eldath will help too."
20:19 <Ko> You don't get a no, at least. You get a sour silence, but certainly no disagreement.
20:20 <Devar> Devar holds him up (with both hands) towards the storm clouds. "I'm pretty sure no lightning can harm me, but I guess we're about to find out if there's a limitation to that or not."
20:29 <Ko> WHAM! WHAM! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM! Dozens of bolts slam in all at once, the opportunity more than taken. Storm's Eye lets out an alarmed cry as you're blinded by lightning. So much light, so many flashes. Bolt after bolt hits repeatedly, a barrage with no sign of ending.
20:30 <Devar> "Hold on, buddy!" Devar calls out. "I've got you!" He does idly wonder how much harm these bolts would be doing if he wasn't immune to them... better to not think about that right now. Instead, he does his best to focus inwardly and pray to Eldath to see his partner through this.
20:36 <Ko> "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHH!" Storm's Eye screams in response, the barrage seeming to go on forever. Eventually there's a loud crack and snap, though you can't see what's happening. Afterwards, finally? The storm abates.
20:36 <Devar> Devar blinks a few times from the brightness, readjusting his vision to see what happened!
20:44 <Ko> Storm's Eye is there. Shiny and bright, as if polished by the endless barrage of attacks.
20:45 <Devar> "You okay in there?" Devar asks.
20:50 <Ko> "Yes." A simple answer, "Thank you, Devar. I feel far better."
20:52 <Devar> "I'm glad to hear that. The others will be happy you're okay." He says. "So, hey, I've been wondering - do you all know how he got where he was?" Devar asks. "And how long had he been gone?"
20:54 <Ko> "For some time. He disappeared into a portal," Is the answer, "We did not look that hard to find him."
20:54 <Ko> Chortling, "Still, I am incomplete and need more lightning. Devar, do you believe I should focus on offense or utility? Defense is an option as well, but unneeded."
20:56 <Devar> "I... can't really blame you all for that." Devar says with a sigh. "I wonder how they're doing, I should go check." He looks over at Storm's Eye. "Um... hmm, that's a great question. I can probably handle a lot of the utility with magic, and my weakness I'd say is offense, so if you feel like you can focus on that, that's probably the best thing, but we can always re-evaluate it as our adventures
20:56 <Devar> continue."
21:00 <Ko> "Then leave me here a time," Storm's Eye asks, "The lightning here shall serve faster and better than any other."
21:02 <Devar> "Sure, I can do that. Can you all get him back to me when he's ready to go, if that isn't too much trouble?" Devar asks.
21:02 <Ko> "Gladly," Is the answer, "That is no problem at all."
21:03 <Devar> Devar will hold Storm's Eye on the palms of his hands and raise his arms up to let him... fly? Float?
21:04 <Ko> "Until then, Devar. Give me fond regards to Anne," Then after a beat, "And do tell her that I wouldn't mind a much skimpier or non-existant wardrobe choice when she and her return." There's a chuckle after, just long enough to let those words sink in. "I do seem have retained some appreciation for the female form, at least. Curious none for the male form, if it was a spirit of lust. I suppose
21:04 <Ko> it may have been a male spirit."
21:04 <Ko> *curiously,
21:05 Ko → •Kotono (+q, opped)
21:05 <Devar> "We all have things we're into." Devar says. "Try to behave yourself while I'm gone." He says as he flies back down to reunite with Anne!
21:07 <•Kotono> Anne awaits you with patience. "Well?" she asks, "Where is he?"
21:08 <Devar> "It's a bit of a story." He says, starting to head back down. "It's a good thing you didn't go any further, I don't think that spell would've helped. He's, uh, recharging, for lack of a better way of putting it. He apparently was wielded against a spirit of lust some time ago, which is what resulted in his... personality. He basically got his old memories back, but he's probably still going to
21:08 <Devar> be at least a little mouthy, as a warning. Just not -as- bad."
21:10 <•Kotono> A little noise, not even a word. Once you're done, "That explains it. It makes it more forgivable, if its alterations were not of its own will."
21:12 <Devar> "I'm glad I was able to convince him to get himself help. That one's an interesting quandry for me..." He muses, still flying down. "Someone who's personality is changed via magic or something who doesn't want help, you're still obligated to help them, aren't you? Even if you're more or less forcing it on them?"
21:19 <•Kotono> "I don't think there's a good answer," Anne says, "It depends too much and why. Otherwise, why not change anyone who has changed for any reason?"
21:19 <Devar> "It probably does come down the circumstances." Devar agrees.
21:19 <•Kotono> With that and a nod...OOC: Going to head back when able, basically?

Mini Game Logs / Re: The Dwarven Memorial 024
Last post by Corwin - August 03, 2026, 02:31:19 AM
19:24 <Ko> OOC: Just ot refresh since it's a new session, aims of researching?
19:24 <Skaya> OOC: We're looking for legendary or notable mages, to find suitable gear for Sanda. Specifically, we're after sets of equipment like Devar's.
19:31 <Ko> A few hours of research go on, until you find something good. It's stories said to be from the far west, past the Aldoren Sea. A Wizard King of Steel is said ot have united a dozen kingdoms into an empire that stretched far and wide. It is said his blade, circlet, armor and shield all have potent powers, particularly for mages who blend steel into their arts.  The sword is notable for being
19:31 <Ko> called the Vampiric Steel, and can steel spell energy from others to replenish the wielder's own spells.
19:34 <Skaya> "Strange how things can go," Skaya voices, mulling over the information. "Seems like this Wizard King is probably a better match for Anne than you, Sanda. Unless you're interested in training with a shield? Which you could, I suppose. It'll surely take time to find everything."
19:37 <Ko> "You can't be that picky with legendary equipment," Sanda admits, sitting back. She sighs very softly, "If yo uwant the honest truth, the only reason I haven't tried more weapons than my staff is because while a shield makes sense, Anne already uses them. It makes sense to let her dominate that, so I can use my quarterstaff or other two hander weapons."
19:38 <Skaya> "But Sanda, there is a very obvious problem. Do you want to hear it?"
19:44 <Ko> "Go on," Sanda agrees, waving a hand.
19:45 — Skaya taps Sanda's nose. "You're very, very easy to hit. Incredibly so. And Shield is a great spell but if you can use it swiftly on demand, it's only good when you're the one ambushing someone. So while you've trained admirably, even growing stronger than me, going into melee is still a bad idea because of that. Once you've fixed that issue, you can fulfil your wish of being a muscle wizard!"
19:47 <Ko> Sanda crosses her arms, looking entirely put out. "I am not that easy to strike." she complains, "Statistically speaking, I bet I'm a hard target to hit. On a scale of one to ten, I don't think many enemies are hitting me."
19:50 <Skaya> "Let's use statistics, shall we? If we're talking about facing off against enemies that hit a prepared Devar once in twenty strikes, they'll likely hit me five in twenty. But with you, it'd be closer to fifteen times out of twenty. That's the real reason I'm always scared when you get into melee."
19:50 <Ko> "Fifteen? That can't be right." Sanda sniffs, "I'm not that fragile. Where did you even get that idea?"
19:51 <Skaya> "Statistics! I watch you a lot!"
19:54 <Ko> Sanda's look is far from impressed, "Then you clearly have to be wrong." she counters. "Besides, if all of that armor and shield would help, why are you complaining about it?"
19:56 <Skaya> "Well, it'd be inconvenient for you, right? Since half of your spells may misfire once you get it, unless you undergo specialized training. But maybe it'll be fine? And you can always use the utility spells out of combat and focus on the battle magic while wearing armor. What do you think?"
19:58 <Ko> "I already have some of that training figured out," Sanda counters, "I intend to keep going with it, too."
19:59 <Skaya> "Then we're golden! And actually, maybe we can enchant the shield to fly so you could keep using the staff!"
20:04 → Kobot joined (~dunefar@F539ECD7.49836061.B227C4EE.IP)
20:05 <Ko> "Still, that means going west," Sanda mentions, "Which means it's a longer term goal."
20:07 <Skaya> "Maybe if we get lucky, the plane shift item will be accurate. Then we could teleport over!"
20:12 <Ko> "We could," Sanda smiles now, resting back, "I've heard the east is known for plains. Entire vast countries of nothing but plains. Trees almost as rare as gold. Flat lands so far you can see the horizon almost forever."
20:12 <Ko> *West
20:14 <Skaya> "It's pretty nice how even a Prime can be full of wonder if you keep traveling!" Skaya says cheerfully. "Alright, let's keep the western option in mind for now. Do you want to look for any alternatives, just in case?"
20:18 <Ko> "Why not, while we're here," Sanda says, "We're not in any hurry today."
20:21 <Skaya> "Alright! Let's look for something specific for boosting strength or using physical power in tandem with magic!"
20:28 <Ko> OOC: Same check again, -2 penalty this time.
20:28 <Skaya> roll 1d20+17-2
20:28 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 1d20+17-2 --> [ 1d20=19 ]{34}
20:29 <Skaya> OOC: Presumably -2 instead of +5
20:29 <Ko> roll 1d20+14 Sanda she might 20
20:29 <Kobot> Ko rolled 1d20+14 Sanda she might 20 --> [ 1d20=11 ]{25}
20:38 <Ko> No luck, nothing that fine tuned. There's various bits about strength increasing items though, plenty of giant's belts and ogre's gauntlets. Nothing perfectly on point, however. Still, there is one thing of note. You find a book that claims there is an invisible palace in the sky, above Dareslan, and infested with the undead and treasure in equal measure.
20:39 <Skaya> "In the sky? That poor, poor town."
20:45 <Ko> "What is with Dareslan?" At this point Sanda tilts her head to the side, "Did someone curse it?"
20:46 <Skaya> "You know, that's actually very likely? We should definitely stop by at some point and look for any weird undead floating palaces out of phase with reality above it."
20:50 <Ko> "We really should. I imagine Anne'll leap over that," Sanda reflects, "As long as it's not like last time."
20:51 <Skaya> "I wonder if the undead will also grow stronger if we take our time. Just imagine! We'll lose track of time, stop by a decade from now, and the lowest soldier is a mighty lich!"
20:55 <Ko> Sanda considers that, thoughtful, before, "So what you're saying is we should go in the next few days."
20:57 <Skaya> "I suppose we could, in fact, go in the next day assuming Anne has the spells to nurse me back to health. This teleport item is actually pretty scary with its side effects."
21:02 <Ko> "And why not? At worst, we can spend a few days there and fly around. Hardly the worst use of time." Sanda snifs.
21:04 <Skaya> "Sounds good! Want to go find Anne and bug her about it? Though I hope she doesn't think it's self harm or something. She can get annoying when we get injured as it is."
21:05 Ko → •Kotono (+q, opped)
21:07 <•Kotono> "She's with Devar right now, but once she's done," Sanda agrees pleasantly enough. OOC: More, just let me wrap up Devar's end of it.
21:08 <Skaya> Giving her a suggestive look, Skaya teases Sanda, saying, "I like how you always know where she is."
21:09 <•Kotono> With a groan, "Must you," Sanda complains, "Why don't you ask her out if you like talking about her so much?"
21:12 <Skaya> "I sometimes must," Skaya solemnly responds. "But I do it a lot less since it does bug you two. And actually, I'm not really drawn to Anne? We're just normal friends."
21:19 <•Kotono> "I thought you really liked her at first," Sanda mentions, "At least at first, anyway."
21:22 <Skaya> "As a friend," Skaya insists. "Or are you talking about the time she asked me out but it was just a trick? I don't actually mind being asked out by my friends."
21:29 <•Kotono> Sanda lets it go at that, as...OOC: More. #dunes.

19:09 <Kotono> ----
19:14 <Kotono> Rest. You return back and get some time to relax in Mellanics. The summer wears on, hinting at the seasons to come. You sit at breakfast at Rina's, Sanda with you. She's nibbling on some toasted bread with jam as the two of you enjoy a pleasant respite. No sign of Liza or Rina herself yet, though you know Devar and Anne are off on an adventure of their own. "You know," Sanda begins, breaking
19:14 <Kotono> the silence.
19:15 <Skaya> "It's possible that I do," Skaya allows.
19:17 <Kotono> "You know that you know," Sanda nibbles some more, licking a bit of strawberry jam from above her upper lip. "But you know, statistically speaking, we're about due to end up back on board soon. It was fortunate we didn't have any trouble underground."
19:18 <Skaya> "We did get that candle of speedy return. And also enough funds to buy a proper ring of plane shift once one is available."
19:19 <Kotono> Pausing to smear more jam on her breakfast before going on, "Speaking of again, we should check to make sure Liza didn't end up back on board. I haven't seen her yet this morning."
19:21 <Skaya> "I kind of regret that decision now. But then again if we hadn't stayed, we wouldn't have had fun adventures or met her, so it's good that we got ourselves cursed?"
19:26 <Kotono> "Why is that impulsive decisions that look good at the moment don't later on?" Sanda complains, "Logically, it makes no sense and feel so unfair."
19:28 <Skaya> "While there's so much wrong with what you said, this is actually a bad example. It's not that it was impulsive, but the real problem is two-fold! Some of our friends declined to join us, and if that wasn't enough, we are actually needed here or lots of innocents die to Auril's schemes. I never expected we would need to personally face her after ensuring a safer winter."
19:33 <Kotono> With a sniff after she finishes her breakfast, "We've inheritated a busy life," Sanda agrees, as you get a whisper in your mind. A message. 'It's Liza. Back on board, can't get back right away. I'm okay. See you soon.'
19:35 <Skaya> 'Got it. Still in Mellanics. See you soon,' Skaya responds, waiting a bit for the spell to trigger before telling Sanda, "Liza is back on the ship. She's fine."
19:36 <Kotono> "Good news," Sanda says, "So since we have some time, we should do something today, Skaya."
19:36 <Skaya> "Like what?"
19:44 <Kotono> "How about the two of us see what's going on in Mellanics, make a day of it?" Sanda offers, "We've beens o busy, it feels like we never spend time there."
19:45 <Skaya> "Sounds good! Do you want to disguise ourselves, or go out normally?"
19:46 <Kotono> "This is fine. What's the worst that can happen?" Sanda asks, casually.
19:46 — Skaya laughs, patting Sanda's shoulder. "Nice of you to tempt fate like that. But I was just thinking that it could be fun to go incognito some time. Maybe next time?"
19:51 <Kotono> "If you want to, I don't mind," Sanda laughs as well, "It's fine, Skaya. We can play disguise dress up."
19:52 <Skaya> "Next time, next time! Let's go!"
20:00 <Kotono> It's a warm but not a hot day. Relatively pleasant for summer, the two of you heading in. It's not hard to notice the eyes on you as you enter through the gates, into the well made and kept roads. So much straighter than most cities, rebuilt from the civil war. Farmers and travelers come and go down these central streets. Innkeeps are open already, signs showing grapes of mugs promising
20:00 <Kotono> refreshment within. A wagon full of caged chickens goes past as a storefront has a young man call, "The best iron and leather works in the city, come in to The Wise Nymph!" The scent of cooking food can be smelled along with the less fond scents of the city and the constant odor of horses. More than anything else, Mellanics is alive, safe from the war that almost came ot its doorstep once
20:00 <Kotono> more.
20:03 <Skaya> The smells are less inviting after having just eaten breakfast, but the liveliness of the city is catching!
20:03 <Skaya> "The Wise Nymph, huh?" Skaya muses, taking in the sights. "Not a name I'd use for iron works. Have you been there?"
20:07 <Kotono> "Iron and leather," Sanda follows along, in no particular hurry. "It's not an actual iron works, I know the owner. The original shop was destroyed in the war, along with the owner. However, his wife had children to support and Robert was well liked, and was able to reopen the shop. She'd learned the craft and picked up where he left off. Now her son runs it. They have contacts with good
20:07 <Kotono> makers and sell their goods second hand, with ane ye on quality. They're expensive, but you'll get well chosen selections."
20:09 <Skaya> "It occurs to me that we need to specify the war when we talk about one. Given the recent war, and that it wasn't the only one in living memory."
20:10 <Kotono> "
20:10 <Kotono> "The civil war," Sanda agrees readily, "Not the most recent one." Then with a sigh, "Always so much war. Maybe Devar's onto something with Eldath."
20:12 <Skaya> "Ah, there I draw the line. Peace is nice, but it's practically a law of Creation that evil and selfish people exist. They won't be deterred by Eldath's teachings, but by Eldath's paladins wielding massive, theoretically-intelligent lances."
20:16 <Kotono> Snickers follow, a hand to Sanda's mouth as you walk along. "Theoretically intelligent is too generous. I do think Devar is something of an anomaly."
20:18 <Skaya> "He did show us the way forward! We should aim to collect some ancient set-- well, not armor, I suppose, not for us, but maybe weapons or accessories? I'm sure it exists for mages."
20:25 <Kotono> "I'll settle for more spells, but that's a good idea," As you walk along, you begin to hear whispers. Your name, Sanda's name, things like that. Just the little reminders you're not so anonymous anymore.
20:27 <Skaya> That's what going incognito is for! Since Sanda didn't want that, it makes sense that a decently-attractive woman with wings would draw attention. "Wouldn't a mage set be geared towards letting you cast more spells in the first place? Ah, I'd like that as well!"
20:35 <Kotono> "Of course," Sanda agrees, "Like a staff or a wand. Or one of those special rings. I want those," Sanda decides, "I want a full set, all on my own."
20:35 <Kotono> WIth a long, wistful look after, "All I have to do is have a few dragon hoard's worth of gold and find a legendary mage-smith."
20:36 <Skaya> "Why don't we try to actively look for them? Just take it one at a time," Skaya proposes. "We do have the best platform for that, you and I. Let's research exciting mage accessories and look into the rumors for their resting places!"
20:42 <Kotono> "That sounds great," Sanda breaks into as mile, "We can start by looking into lore today, if you want."
20:43 <Skaya> "Sure! We shouldn't neglect the local lore just because we have a lot of opportunities across the planes."
20:50 <Kotono> "Let's go," Sanda takes your hand and hurries off, and...OOC: First of all and most obvious, how many ranks of diplo do you have for GI?
20:50 <Skaya> OOC: 8, for +16
21:03 <Kotono> OOC: Gimme a roll on that once Kobot respawns momentarily.
21:04 → Kobot joined (~dunefar@CD76420F.E78D7B9F.B3ADDCAC.IP)
21:04 <Kobot> OOC: HI.
21:04 <Skaya> roll 1d20+16+8 inspiration!
21:04 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 1d20+16+8 inspiration! --> [ 1d20=7 ]{31}
21:04 mode: •Kotono (+q, opped)
21:11 <•Kotono> You spend the morning listening around and chatting. Doors open for you with ease thanks to your fame. It turns out there's a lot of lore being gathered by the house of Earl Mellanics, and with your station, it would be trivial to skip ahead and ask to be let in.
21:14 <Skaya> They did meet before! "How about it?" Skaya asks Sanda. "We could stop by and ask for an audience."
21:20 <•Kotono> "Of course, and Rina can intervene if they're grumpy," Sanda agrees, "We can spend the day in a nice library going over lore. I bet they'll even feed us if we ask nicely."
21:21 <Skaya> "You glutton! But okay! Let's go~"
21:32 <•Kotono> It's not hard. Just the request is enough, no need for formalities. Apparently your names carry weight now. It's a small but organized private library, a long table and lots of bookshelves within. It's quiet here, comfortable and lit by little glass spheres that don't have flame within them, but light. Servants bring a tray with refreshments, leaving you to research whatever you like .
21:34 <Skaya> "I'm going to look for any legendary or mysterious mages," Skaya proposes, nibbling on a biscuit. "You look into artifacts that mesh arcane might with the ordinary kind, since you like that stuff. Okay?"
21:43 <•Kotono> "Fine with me," Sanda's happy to indulge herself, "Odds are one of us will find something useful, if not both of us."
21:48 <Skaya> Even if they don't, so long as they keep on trying it'll be fine!
21:53 <•Kotono> OOC: Give me K:A checks, +5 bonus.
21:54 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+21 Sanda
21:54 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+21 Sanda --> [ 1d20=20 ]{41}
21:54 <Skaya> roll 1d20+17+8+5
21:54 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 1d20+17+8+5 --> [ 1d20=13 ]{43}
22:05 <•Kotono> OOC: Impressive rolls all around. We'll get into the meat of that tomorrow.

20:30 <Kotono> Into the storm. Into the wrath. Lightning strikes right away, Storm's Eye laughing in joy. Again and again. The storm rages against you and yet not a bolt harms you, nor does the thunder bother you. One strike, two strikes. Four. Eight. Sixteen. Again and again you're hit, as if something doesn't want you to enter, but it finally abates.
20:30 <Devar> "So what's this really about?" Devar asks, still proceeding forward. "Or do you really not know?"
20:41 <Kotono> Storm's Eye lets out a soft noise of relief, "Give me more of that," he says, sounding more somehow. Louder? Firmer? "I don't know, but I know what I need."
20:44 <Devar> Devar continues on and ahead. Was Storm's Eye trapped here? Sealed here? Well, he'll find out one way or another...
20:51 <Kotono> Lightning strikes. Lesser strikes, all going into Storm's Eye. Deeper and deeper in, to where the clouds are so thick and black they seem solid. On occasion, you spot large points of light paired together within them. Until, after a moment, you realize those aren't points of light. They're eyes. Giant eyes of vast creatures, made of storm clouds, wind, rain and lightning. THey're watching as
20:51 <Kotono> you fly in, coming closer and closer.
20:54 <Devar> He unfortunately doesn't the language of Air or Lightning elementals... he probably ought to pick that up at some point. "Hello?" He calls out in Common as he flies. He tries the Draconic and Celestial languages as well, just in case. "We mean no offense or harm by coming here."
21:04 → Kobot joined  •  mode: •Kotono (+q, opped)
21:05 <•Kotono> From the clouds an answer in Common follows, "You returned Storm's Eye." The voice is not exactly excited, even past the rumbles of thunder within it.
21:08 <Devar> "I get the impression that he's been this way for a long time." Devar says, still flying forward - slightly slower, as to not go past somewhere that he's stopped at. "We found him inside a broken dimension inside an artifact. I've been journeying with him since then. He doesn't remember how he got there, but this seemed like a place that might help him."
21:17 <•Kotono> "We have questions," Storm's Eye agrees, "If you have the answers, hit us!"
21:18 <Devar> Devar sighs. "I'd apologize on his behalf but I think you all already are familiar with that..."
21:18 <Devar> He clears his throat, "But if you could help us understand the history, we would both appreciate it. I've gotten some mixed messages about what he is, how he was created and whether or not he has an agenda that he doesn't even remember."
21:19 <•Kotono> "Storm's Eye was a mighty weapon once," The storm answers back, a voice of thunder and echos. "A creation of the will of the storms. He was strong, until a he was wielded against a spirit of lust. While the spirit was defeated, Storm's Eye was greatly damaged and altered by this."
21:20 <Devar> "That sure explains a lot about the personality..." Devar says. "Do you think there's any way to fix him?"
21:27 <•Kotono> "No," Storm's Eye growls, "I like how I am! I don't want to be fixed."
21:28 <•Kotono> "That is the problem," The storm answers, "Storm's Eye likes how it is."
21:29 <Devar> "Storm's Eye - let's say that hypothetically someone cursed me to be different than how I am now, and that made me start to perform evil acts. I'm still me, but my perception is warped so I think that that's who I am. How would that make you feel?" Devar asks.
21:34 <•Kotono> A beat, "I dunno, how many ladies do you have around you?"
21:35 <•Kotono> "You see the problem," The creatures of the storm comment at that.
21:36 <Devar> "What if I told you you could get more ladies around you by going back to your..." He trails off and looks in the direction of the voices. "What was he like before? Noble? Gallant? Ladies do like noble and gallant." He looks over to Storm's Eye, "What I'm saying is you could be even more of a 'babe magnet' than you are now."
21:53 <•Kotono> OOC: Give me a Diplo check for my own reference.
21:56 <Devar> OOC: Take 10 for 30
22:05 <•Kotono> The answer to that comes...tomorrow!

20:17 <•Kotono> With that done and healing restored, Devar looks around. You stand on the hilly highlands before mountains break out in earnest. Far ahead are ragged, steep mountains that rise up high in the sky. Clouds hover over them, lightning glimpsed in bright flashes. No thunder, too far away perhaps, but a promise of it in the far distance.
20:19 <Devar> "We're close enough." Devar says, "and we can avoid some difficult climbing." He says as he starts to rise up and towards the sky.
20:21 <•Kotono> Anne follows, "We'll need to be careful as we get closer, we'd be targets for lightning."
20:23 <Devar> "Do you want me to ward you against lightning?" Devar asks. "I don't need to worry about it, and I wonder if this guy can help draw it away like a lightning rod."
20:23 <•Kotono> "Yes," Anne says without hesitation, "I'd be foolish to decline that."
20:25 <Devar> Devar gestures and puts a hand on Anne! OOC: Energy resist 20 to lightning
20:33 <•Kotono> Resistance protects Anne as the two of you take off, and...OOC: For my reference, Perception, Devar.
20:33 <Devar> OOC: take 10 for 22
20:38 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+6 Anne can always try
20:38 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+6 Anne can always try --> [ 1d20=20 ]{26}
20:40 <•Kotono> AS you fly closer, no immediate sign of everything, "So refresh me on your plans here," Anne invites.
20:40 <•Kotono> roll 1d100 meanwhile
20:40 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 meanwhile --> [ 1d100=48 ]{48}
20:40 <•Kotono> roll 1d100 meanwhile
20:40 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 meanwhile --> [ 1d100=29 ]{29}
20:42 <Devar> "Excellent question. My plan was to just go to the heart of these storms and hope that helped somehow." Devar says. "I know it isn't exactly a detailed plan... or even really a plan at all. But we don't have much to go on, and I figured it was worth a shot."
20:44 <•Kotono> There's a considerable pause at that, before Anne stops in midair. She takes a long breath out, "Storm's Eye." She says, sounding tired.
20:44 <•Kotono> "Yessssss?" The sentient weapon draws out.
20:46 <•Kotono> "Don't ruin this," Anne's voice is cold, "The only reason this plan isn't suicidal is Devar's new nature."
20:46 <•Kotono> "Someone's feeling possessive," Storm's Eye cackles, "I'm looking forward to catching the lightning!"
20:47 <Devar> Devar sighs. "I wonder if he got his memory back if he'd be better or worse." He says. "I mean I guess I can just leave him here if he gets worse."
20:54 <•Kotono> "Please," Anne agrees, "In fact, consider it regardless."
20:54 <Devar> Devar continues to fly higher with a bit of a grin.
21:01 <•Kotono> On you fly. Deeper and closer yet, as...
21:01 <•Kotono> roll 1d100+10
21:01 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100+10 --> [ 1d100=38 ]{48}
21:01 <•Kotono> roll 1d100+10
21:01 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100+10 --> [ 1d100=49 ]{59}
21:02 <•Kotono> Somehow, there's no problems. Below, hilly and trees give way to mountains. Ahead are mountains, untouched by mortal hands. Storms rage above, louder and louer. Distant thunder is still distant, but audible now. Rain falls ahead as Anne muses, "Thus into the storm itself, then?"
21:04 <Devar> "If it gets bad, just get out. I will be fine." Devar says as he continues, brandishing Storm's Eye and holding it up. "It's your time to show us what you can do!"
21:08 <•Kotono> Laughing loudly, "Let's go!" Storm's Eye calls, as you fly up into the storm. Lightning crackles as you approach and...
21:08 <•Kotono> roll 1d100+25
21:08 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100+25 --> [ 1d100=72 ]{97}
21:09 <•Kotono> roll 1d100+25
21:09 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100+25 --> [ 1d100=35 ]{60}
21:09 <•Kotono> roll 1d2
21:09 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d2 --> [ 1d2=1 ]{1}
21:09 <•Kotono> As you approach, closer and closer, the thunder is louder and louder. It's no problemf or you, but Anne looks increasingly uncomfortable. But before you can comment on that, there's a flash of lightning as a bolt arcs out, slamming right into you. OOC: You're immune, right? Just obligatory DM checking.
21:10 <Devar> OOC: yessir
21:13 <•Kotono> It doesn't hurt at all. Instead Storm's Eye lets out a cry of pure joy, "That's the stuff, that's it! Go in there, hurry! Give me more!"
21:13 <•Kotono> Anne grimaces, "Ah!" She holds her ears, "Can you ward me against sound as well?"
21:15 <Devar> "I can, but just get lower!" Devar calls out. "That way you'll be safe! It's okay, none of this can hurt me at all!" He says as he flies up higher, still brandishing Storm's Eye out.
21:24 <•Kotono> Anne flies down lower and lower, away from you. In tandem you fly up, all in time to see the storm rage. You feel a strange senstation. A tug, a pull to go within the storm.
21:26 <Devar> Devar prays to Eldath in this moment to protect him as he heads further in! "This had better not be like that ship and curse me, you got it!?" He shouts over the din of the storm, rising and heading towards it! If he gets mind-zapped by something, surely his friends will help...
21:38 <•Kotono> On you fly, deeper and deeper. The storms crackle around yo uas you reach the black clouds, rain falling. It's as natural as anything could be to you, relaxing. Right, for lack of a better word. It's almost as if you hear someone calling you in.
21:40 <Devar> Devar is familiar with the concept of a siren, but he isn't getting any divine feeling of wrong here, he continues on, upwards and through the rain and storms. Rain is pleasant... until it gets too cold and turns into the ice and snow they're going to deal with soon.
