Floor 1 "Wheel": 1-2

Ranmaru winces as he hears the splat, "Um, Lord? I don't suppose you're still alive down there, are you?"

When he gets no responce he sighs, "I suppose my caution was warrented." Looking over to Sacchin, he asks, "Miss Sacchin, you see better in the dark then we do, yes? Can you see anything down there?"

[Corwin]

"Better yet, why not tie yourselves with rope and help her down?" Euphemia suggests.

[Carthrat]

Sacchin makes some kind of affirmative grunting sound, and moves to peer down the hole.

[Anastasia]

Sacchin peers down! She sees it goes down sixty feet at least, no end in sight at the end of her darkvision! However, there are some fresh, runny splatters of blood near the end of her vision. Like something recently gushed blood, very recently. It can't have gone that high, right?

[Carthrat]

Sacchin starts to climb down the rope towards the bottom, being careful every step of the way.

[Anastasia]

Sacchin climbs down! It's a long climb, eighty feet or so. At the bottom is a splatter of blood all around and no sign of Flasheart. Poor bastard.

At the bottom is a swirling whirlpool in the center, with a thick metal grate attached over it by several metal fastening clips.

[Carthrat]

Sacchin climbs back up a minute or two later.

"Whirlpool down there. Dangerous," she reports. "Sealed."

[VySaika]

"A whirlpool? Hmm." Ranmaru muses for a moment, "At this point, I'd call that even odds on being a deathtrap or some manner of portal. Possibly even the way out. The question is, what do we wish to do about it?"

[Corwin]

"Have someone jump in, another goes to retrieve the Lord?" Euphemia suggests. "If it kills horribly, then both would be summoned back. If not... actually, scouting this way might be interesting, if you jump in, look around and just kill yourself."

[VySaika]

Ranmaru blinks, "...suicide scouting? I'm sorry Lady Euphemia, but...I cannot go along with such a mad idea. While I have always been, and will always be, willing to risk myself for a greater cause, I could not simply commit suicide for the sake of a scouting mission! To treat my life, even such a strange one as this, as such a worthless and disposable thing would be an insult to all I have ever stood for."

Winding down from his mini-rant, the bishie samurai sighs, "I am willing to risk the whirlpool, perhaps if I were to tie a rope around my waist and miss Sacchin were to hold the other end in case I needed to be pulled back up."

[Carthrat]

"Stupid to kill self on purpose," adds Sacchin, with a nod. "Sacchin will hold rope."

[Corwin]

"We can always send Flasheart," Euphemia mutters.

[VySaika]

Having apparently decided on a course of action, Ranmaru nods and begins to decend the rope, "Alright, miss Sacchin, come down here and help me get this grate open, then I'll tie on the rope and go take a look in the whirlpool."

Ranmaru climbs down without incident, reaching the bottom. Nothing has changed since Sacchin was down here.

[Carthrat]

Sacchin questions the nature of this plan, since opening the grate while she's standing on it seems like a good way to fall in the whirlpool. "Should be easy to open yourself?" she asks, loosely holding the rope for Ranmaru's benefit.
