This week, we will be heading off to SR Gathering 2011.  Which will be awesome, thanks in no small part to the awesome crew helping out.

Next year is a decade of rocking at the site.  Pretty cool.  I'm certainly glad I've had you guys hanging around all this time.  A big salute to many who have come together to keep the site alive, contribute to it, and put it together.  It's been a pretty rocking web-inn for gaming at.

Anyhow, upon the road of promised awesome is a trip out to the land down under.  There's a certain contingent of australians who (without fail) have complained every single time that we are holding these too far away.  Equally so, that pretty much all of them have landed in the states.

So I call the thunder, let us bring the gathering across the oceans in one year's time.  This may require excessive planning time for many involved, so I am starting off the post on this WAY early.  We will find a way for this to be awesome.  And for those playing portal...

Yes, there shall be cake. :)

Note: This is unlikely to run dirt cheap.  2,500-3,000 is likely to be a sensible budget range.  Just getting out there as there's no way doing any international stuff is doable 'on college student budget'.
Well, Goodbye.

Jon

I say we split the difference and do Hawaii.

(Yes, I'm aware that's not an even split. But it's Hawaii.)

Brian

I agree, provided I get to say ... you fund it. :3

Yeah, I'll totally go if someone else pays =p

No offense to our Australian friends, but if they can't afford to come to the Americas, I'm sure they'd understand if we can't afford to come see them.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

We could split the difference and have it in Japan!

Only if I get to push Kwok off Tokyo Tower.

Well, next year I'm actually planning on going to Japan, then to Korea, then to Europe. It's ambitious, but ambition is integral to progress.

Anyone wants to meet up anywhere, I'm game. Anticpating the trip to take place over August->September, so~
[19:14] <Annerose> Aww, mouth not outpacing brain after all?
[19:14] <Candide> My brain caught up

Dracos

Hum.

Just a check:

How many folks would be able to afford 2.5k for an australian trip?

1)Dracos (barely)
2)Rez
3)Rat (??)
4)?

Please chime in.  It's been quiet here.

Japan is fun, but I dunno?  I'm actually down for another states one as my pocketbooks have joined the hurting :)  But at the same time, it'd be really nice to get some of the international folks to have a chance to join in.

Equally, how many folks are down for chicago, as 007 bends over backwards to make it super awesome?
Well, Goodbye.

Merc

Rez and Rat totally don't count as members of the 'able to afford 2.5k' group for aussie land. Mostly cause they wouldn't spend near that much. =p

I'm still holding out for a Texas gathering. We have done the north (canada), east (virginia) and west (california). Now we call out for the south!

I suppose you could argue canada was more north-east than straight north, but whatever! >_>

Anyhow, unless I manage to get a job before whenever the 2012 gathering is scheduled, I just can't afford an international gathering. Spending too much of my savings on paying for the 'go-back-to-school' project. I -might- be able to go elsewhere in the US, but I'd certainly make no guarantees of attending anywhere besides Texas.
<Cidward> God willing, we'll all meet in Buttquest 2: The Quest for More Butts.

Dracos

Well, Goodbye.

Brian

Texas would let me visit my brother.

Hmm.  I may be able to convince Phil to roadtrip with me down there.  That might be fun.

2.5k on a trip is completely impossible for me.
What if they're not stars at all? What if the night sky is full of titanic far-off lidless eyes, staring in all directions across eternity?

I vote for Texas, too. Even if we don't do it in Dallas, I can transport myself just fine. And if fuel/hotel costs is a concern for any of the other Texans, I can stop by and pick them up.

Also, transporting firearms inside Texas is much easier than outside of Texas >.>

Edit: On my end, I'm going to be home going into January; so if this happens, it'd need to happen mid-year or later for vacation scheduling purposes and tax purposes. Otherwise, I be losing $10K-15K in taxes <.<
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
