The first is by Nicholas Stone, and like most of his writing, good, even if predictable.  The second is by Fire, who was a better polished Ozzallos than Ozzallos: Very strong starts which gradually tapers off into mediocre.  Destiny's Child is his better known fic, but I think Vengeance was the first real attempt at a Nerima v. Senshi fic (versus a multitude of 2 page fics)

I'm rereading Belgarath the Sorcerer by David Eddings. I haven't really read it since I was a teenager. It doesn't hold up, of course, but it's fun in it's own ways. It's hugely nostalgic and it's still nice, light reading.
