This December I will be taking a trip to Alaska to try and see the aurora.

I'm traveling alongside a group of associates, and some friends -- but not really with them.

Their plan to see the aurora was 'drive north until it's visible, and camp out to save money'.  I managed to talk them out of this and to handle things sensibly; I've actually got the training to camp in those conditions, and don't particularly want to.  To say nothing of the cost of actually getting proper gear for it anyway....  I was not able to convince anyone to try Sweden or Finland instead, unfortunately.  Can't win 'em all!

Well, to make a long story short, if any other Soulriders are going to be in Fairbanks, Alaska, then we might be able to meet up!

...yeah, okay, didn't think so.  Anyway, this is pretty much the last achievable item on my 'bucket list', so that at least is pretty cool -- I'll have more updates when we solidify plans, though if I recall, it's going to be from the 11th to the 15th of December.  Hopefully we can see it and I can snap a few quality pictures!  I may need to borrow or buy a better camera for this, but I'm not sure; it's pretty much the last really major trip I plan on taking....

Well!  To the north!

I only have one thing to say. Don't get eaten by a bear up there!

Okay!  December 6th through 11th!  I will be in the land of cold and north.

The place where I've always felt most alive.  I'm starting to really look forward to this, though I do need to get new jacket and cold-weather clothing.  As cold as it should be, I will be sad if there's no snow.

That sounds really awesome, have fun!

That sounds very cool!!!! Hope you get great pictures!

I think it's amazing that you have to go out of your way to get "cold weather clothing."  >_>

Have fun!  You know, in december, when you actually go.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

The place where I live doesn't have your Earth seasons.  We instead have a large comfortable period, punctuated with 'the 15 days a year that are unpleasantly hot' and 'the 15 days a year where it is wet and rains'.

There are places on Earth where it pretty much never gets cold enough to snow ... and I live in one.

Oh, I know. My brain just gets a jolt when I stop and think how different some people's experiences are from mine.  Not having cold weather clothing just seems weird, even though intellectually I know better.

The wonders of geography.  Hopefully I get some good pictures.

Might get a new camera for this after all.  Not sure....

Well, Goodbye.

Brian

Right.  Leaving tomorrow.

Hopefully this is going to be an exciting trip full of amazing views and fantastic memories.

And not a live-action re-enactment of The Grey.
