[18:07] <@Kotono> OOC: You have a few things, so which did you want to do first in particular?
[18:09] <Gildas> OOC: Hum. The logical progression would probably be Plant Growth -> Kobolds for seeing if they have any books he could buy, then the Ardaman stuff, then onto language studies. I think.
[18:11] <@Kotono> OOC: Let me pause plant growth a bit since it requries a few other things to be lined up. How about we start with the kobolds and go from there, say?
[18:12] <Gildas> OOC: That's fine.
[18:14] <@Kotono> Gildas descends into the earth once more. The kobolds are as rowdy and loud as ever as you seek books and booksellers. As you do...
[18:14] <@Kotono> roll 1d100
[18:14] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 26." [1d100=26]
[18:15] <@Kotono> ...the search goes without incident. You find one tent set up with a squinty little kobold. A few stacks of books can be glimpsed within his tent. He speaks in slow common, "You want the...beeeoooookkkssss?" he asks. "Big ones or...little ones?"
[18:17] <Gildas> "I'm interested in all sorts of them." He says with a smile, keeping his speech a little slower for the sake of the kobold friend.
[18:19] <@Kotono> "Shinies," The kobold says, tapping his fingers on his knee. "Shinies for them. You have shinies?"
[18:20] <Gildas> He nods with a smile. "Of course. Do you mind if I look through them to decide which I'd like?"
[18:24] <@Kotono> The kobold grunts but waves. "Go ahead. Be careful with the ...beeeoooookkkssss!"
[18:25] <Gildas> He just smiles and takes a few moments to go through them, mostly looking at the titles to see what they're about.
[18:28] <@Kotono> OOC: Looking for anything in particular?
[18:30] <Gildas> OOC: Not really. Mostly just looking to exclude things that aren't really informational.
[18:32] <@Kotono> OOC: Make a quick int check?
[18:33] <Gildas> roll 1d20+2
[18:33] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+2 and gets 14." [1d20=12]
[18:38] <@Kotono> Gildas is able to sort out a few books that are irrelevant or boring. But there's a fair few good books here, in languages far and wide. There's some he doesn't even know. He could buy all the books, just the ones that are useful or the ones that are useful plus the ones he can't read. The kobold watches Gildas as he sorts in the meantime.
[18:41] <Gildas> He nods after a few more minutes and gestures to the pile he's made of the useful ones and the ones he cannot yet read. "I'd like to purchase these, if I could."
[18:45] <@Kotono> "Hmmm. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm." The kobold looks over all the books, "Need a lot of shinies for that. 500 shinies. Lots of books. Books expensive."
[18:45] <@Kotono> He blinks a moment, "I mean...beeeoooookkkssss!"
[18:48] <Gildas> Gildas folds his arms and looks a bit incredulous. OOC: Can I do a sense motive?
[18:48] <Gildas> OOC: Because I don't trust his negotiating skills!
[18:51] <@Kotono> OOC: Sure.
[18:52] <Gildas> roll 1d20+15
[18:52] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+15  and gets 23." [1d20=8]
[18:52] <@Kotono> Damn, he's good. You can't get a read on him at all.
[18:54] <Gildas> Gildas shakes his head. "That's too much for these. However, perhaps we can find something I have that you'd be willing to trade for instead of just coins?" He starts digging around in his pack and then smiles as he produces the crystal he took from the ant lair that had contained the shocker lizard corpses. "I think this would be a fair exchange... This came from the lair of the ants... the
[18:54] <Gildas> one that's completely sealed off now. No one else has a crystal like this."
[18:54] * Quits: @Kallen (Kallen@ppp59-167-140-198.static.internode.on.net) (Ping timeout)
[18:55] * Joins: Steph (~Kallen@ppp59-167-140-198.static.internode.on.net)
[18:57] <@Kotono> OOC: Gonna need a bluff check there.
[18:58] <Gildas> OOC: A skill I do not have. Well, no, Intimidate is for later. Is that a charisma check?
[19:02] <@Kotono> OOC: Yes. G'luck.
[19:03] <Gildas> roll 1d20+2
[19:03] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+2 and gets 20." [1d20=18]
[19:04] <@Kotono> "Hmmm....hmmmm..." The kobold stares at it for a time, "Let me see it," he finally decides.
[19:04] <Gildas> He hands it over. "Careful, it might shock you."
[19:06] <@Kotono> The crystal is taken. The kobold looks at it slowly, carefully...he hmmms and rubs his chin. "Shiny," he mutters, a little jolt making his arm thrash. It doesn't stop him as he says, "Shiny, but need a little more shiny."
[19:08] <Gildas> He nods. "Very well. Do you have any interest in herbs? While they aren't shiny, many people trade a lot of shinies for them."
[19:14] <@Kotono> "Herbs?" Rubbing his chin further, "Yes. Herbs are good for shinies."
[19:17] <Gildas> He takes the jar of mixed herbs from his bag and opens it up to withdraw some to place in front of the kobold. "This one has a variety."
[19:17] <@Kotono> "Ooooh. Sold!" The kobold says after a q uick glance over it, "I like!" OOC: Post what you gave away?
[19:18] <Gildas> OOC: Sure.
[19:19] <@Kotono> OOC: Loot post.
[19:20] <Gildas> He nods with a smile to the kobold. "If you come across any more books, please feel free to let us know. I'd be happy to trade for more."
[19:25] <@Kotono> "I will," The kobold promises. OOC: Okay, so let's see. You were going to ask around the kobolds for Ardaman of Bluespire?
[19:27] <Gildas> OOC: Indeed.
[19:33] <@Kotono> OOC: Make a diplomacy check to gather information.
[19:34] <Gildas> OOC: I should really look into those some day...
[19:34] <Gildas> roll 1d20+2 hopefully he's as good at diplomacy as he is at bullshitting
[19:34] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+2 hopefully he's as good at diplomacy as he is at bullshitting and gets 10." [1d20=8]
[19:35] <@Kotono> roll 1d100
[19:35] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 97." [1d100=97]
[19:35] <@Kotono> OOC: Mak ea perception check, Gildas?
[19:37] <Gildas> roll 1d20+15
[19:37] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+15 and gets 29." [1d20=14]
[19:39] <@Kotono> A few hours nets Gildas...not much. No one's heard of Ardaman of Bluespire. As Gildas goes, a kobold brushes past him. Casually, Gildas can notice the kobold's hand going along his side, for a pocket.
[19:40] <Gildas> "It isn't nice to steal someone's shinies." He says, ready to stop the kobold if his words don't do the trick.
[19:43] <@Kotono> "Aaah! Oh no!" The kobold freezes before turning tail and running away as fast as he can! A few other kobolds nearby stop to watch the spectacle.
[19:44] <Gildas> He sighs. He doesn't want to scare the kobold, but he can't just let it go either... He shapeshifts into his eagle form to give chase!
[19:48] <@Kotono> OOC: Move speed in flight?
[19:49] <Gildas> OOC: 40 with Good
[19:50] <@Kotono> Gildas gives chase! AS this happens...OOC: Ref save. +4 bonus for each 10ft above 30ft movement speed. +2 bonus for each maneuverability category above average.
[19:50] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+6 kobold
[19:50] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+6 kobold and gets 11." [1d20=5]
[19:52] <Gildas> roll 1d20+11 (+4 more for bonus 1, +2 for bonus 2, so a total of +6)
[19:52] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+11 (+4 more for bonus 1, +2 for bonus 2, so a total of +6) and gets 17." [1d20=6]
[19:52] <Gildas> OOC: Noooot that it matters...
[19:53] <Gildas> OOC: Or maybe it does, if he throws something at me.
[19:54] <@Kotono> The kobld runs ahead! He screams, "OH MY SHINIES WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! OH MY SHINIES WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" he screams in the loudest, highest pitched voice you can imagine. As the kobolds all turn and look about in surprise, Gildas catches up to him. OOC: Go ahead and act.
[19:56] <Gildas> He moves in front of the kobold and shapeshifts back, more or less just trying to stop the kobold in his tracks. "You're not going to die." He says, though not very convincingly.
[19:58] <@Kotono> WHAM! The kobold runs right into Gildas. You notice more than a few kobolds have withdrawn bombs, looking around warily. Words like 'lizards?!' 'ants?!' 'magic?!' and 'lava?!' are all uttered as they look around with concern. Said kobold just stares up in terror, "You-you can catch me?!" he sas in Common, shaking.
[19:59] <Gildas> He shakes his head. "Calm down. I am not going to hurt you." He smiles and offers a hand to him. "I'm Gildas, you may have heard of me... my friends and I live above ground. We're friends with Ten'ten'tal."
[20:03] <@Kotono> The kobold's eyes dart around as the other kobolds start to calm down. "Oh...I'm really in trouble."
[20:04] <Gildas> He continues to hold his hand out for the kobold. "I'll tell you what: If you do some work for me, I'll not only forget about this, but I'll let him know you helped us out."
[20:09] <@Kotono> "Oh. That's...a good offer," he admits. "What do you want done?"
[20:10] <Gildas> "I want to know everything about Ardaman of Blue Spire. ...I also would like some help learning some new languages." He smiles. "The latter I am willing to pay for."

[18:12] <@Kotono> Recovery's nice. John's resting at home one morning. It's a day that isn't quite cold, like winter's grasp is slackening in the face of spring's firsts breaths. John's picking over the last of his breakfast when he hears a knocking on his door.
[18:14] <@John> Taking a moment to swallow that last hunk of hard cheese and black bread, he looks up at the door and calls, "Come in!" No need to push himself by getting up when he's still officially on recovery after all!
[18:18] <@Kotono> The man that comes in is all hard muscle and broad body. A man with thinning blonde hair and a serious expression on his face. "Pleasure," he says gravely, offering his hand out once he reaches John. "You're Little John?"
[18:20] <@John> "S'what they call me," he gets up to shake that hand when it's offered, waiting to find out what the guy's business is.
[18:22] <@Kotono> "I hear you've been seeing Missy-Anne," he says, "Name's Bo. Missy-Anne's my daughter." His grip is strong and calloused, that of a solid working man.
[18:25] <@John> "Nice to meet you Bo," he says, boasting a similar grip as that. Strange name but no stranger than Gildas or Feather. "Met her at that dance the other day. Lovely girl your daughter," he goes on to explain, wondering if this is some sort of parental warning thing. At least without Missy-Anne present he can keep his wits about him. Such as they are, anyway.
[18:28] <@Kotono> "I know she is," he says, letting the grip go after the mandatory shake. "Look, as long as you treat my Missy-Anne right, we won't have any problems. I saw you got her a nice present. She looks like a princess when she's showing off that anklet."
[18:31] <@John> "Was just gonna sell it to the kobolds anyway, sure looks better on her than it would on one of them," John says with a little smile as he visualises it. With their spindly little legs it'd be all over the place. "But yeah, grew up on a farm meself just like this, 'cept it was all family wherever you looked. M'not used to this kind of stuff, but I'll do me best for her."
[18:33] <@Kotono> "It's all I can ask," he clasps John on the shoulder with a smile. "Missy-Anne's taken a real shine to you. You might just be getting a surprise in a few minutes."
[18:36] <@John> That sounds promising! "Better tidy up then, shouldn't I?" he guesses.
[18:40] <@Kotono> "Reckon you should." Bo agrees solemnly, "Reckon you should."
[18:42] <@John> "Well, I'm sure I'll be seeing you," he says to Bo, figuring he can see himself out. In the meantime he goes to clean up the last of his breakfast and then shake the crumbs off his plate out the window. Really he doesn't have much to make a mess with, so it's just puttering about for the most part.
[18:43] <@Kotono> "Ahem," Bo clears his throat, "No offense, but it's not right to let my daughter visit a man's house without a chaperone. Especially a man she's seeing."
[18:45] <@John> "Oh. Right, uh sorry," he says, not having expected that. "Pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable then?" he invites. Are you supposed to just ignore the chaperone like rich people do with their servants? Or talk to him as well? Hell if John knows!
[18:46] <@Kotono> Bo settles for taking a chair to the corner and staying out of the way. Soon enough there's another knock on the door, this one lighter.
[18:48] <@John> "Come in!" John calls once more.
[18:54] <@Kotono> The door opens. Missy-Anne is there, all smiles as she carries a small basket with her. "Hello John," she says, "Have you eaten yet?"
[18:56] <@John> "No, no, hadn't even started on breakfast!" he rushes to say entirely unconvincingly. "Uh, come over, have a seat?" he offers, going to his dining and anything else table.
[19:01] <@Kotono> "Thank you," she demurely sits and opens the basket. Within the scent of fresh bread spills out. A loaf of bread it taken out, as well as a small plate of light brown heart-shaped cookies. John knows these - treats made of pure maple syrup boiled and molded into shapes.
[19:03] <@John> "Looks like good stuff," John says, peering over to look into the basket. "Want me to get some cheese or meat to go with the bread?" he offers.
[19:04] <@Kotono> "Yes," Missy-Anne says. When John comes back with it, she has her leg up on his chair. Her dress has gone down enough to show her ankle, where the anklet rests. "It's beautiful," she whispers, "I really like it."
[19:08] <@John> He doesn't really see the point in wearing jewellery on your feet. It'll just get mud all over it anyway, and he'd have assumed the thing was a bracelet if not for Myann telling them. A bracelet for a woman with very wide forearms... but hey, doesn't mean he doesn't know what to say, he can at least do that much! "Looks better on you than gathering dust in some dungeon, right?" he grins, leaning over to get at the bread which he starts making into sandwiches. Or rolls. Something anyway.
[19:15] <@Kotono> She lowers her foot back down after that, "Of course it is." she replies primly. "So how is your recovery going?"
[19:19] <@John> "Barely hurts at all now," he says proudly, as if he'd done something to earn it. "Reckon I'll be back in top shape well in time for planting season." That actually reminds him though, since he's an adventurer who used to be a farmer, "What trade are you and your family in, Missy-Anne? Don't think I've heard."
[19:24] <@Kotono> "Daddy's a farmer," she says, looking over to him. The man nods and adds in, "I do some blacksmithing and animal husbandry too. You know how it is around the farm, you do something of everything."
[19:29] <@John> He nods. "Had a smith in the town nearby so we were alright for that. Mostly just worked the fields and orchards, helped look after sick animals, sometimes people too. Lot've those remedies'll work just as well on a pig as a person. That's all before I became an adventurer, mind, but I reckon I'll be able to pull me weight around here when I'm not going off fighting giant ants and stuff."
[19:34] <@Kotono> "Reckon you will," Bo nods slightly, "You look like a working man."
[19:34] <@Kotono> "Really? I know all the pigs here look so happy," Missy-Anne comments, "Never seen such a happy group of pigs."
[19:36] <@John> "S'all the mushrooms, innit?" John says. "Pigs'll eat near enough anything, but they love mushrooms they do."
[19:37] <@Kotono> "That magic Miss Myann uses for the mushrooms is something else," Missy-Anne agrees, lightly smiling as she takes a maple cookie. "It's mighty handy having her here, though. That spring and Gildas are really handy too. I heard Feather can do some magic too, but it's mostly for fighting."
[19:39] <@John> "Yeah, same for me," John says, having a cheese and venison sandwich himself. "Used to go around with this wizard, Young Hubert. He taught me a few tricks to help win a fight, but it's nothing much useful for the day to day stuff."
[19:42] <@Kotono> "Mmmm." Murmuring that as she listens, "How hard is it to learn magic? All the stories say you can learn a few words to trap the evil giant or trick the greedy dragon."
[19:47] <@John> "S'not that hard if you just put in some effort. I mean, I know I'm not the smartest of people, and I figured stuff out pretty easily. Never be an archmage or nothing, but it's the same as how not everyone becomes a legendary warrior or whatever," John says with a shrug after polishing off his sandwich and making a move for a cookie. "Comes down to it though, magic's no different'n any other skill."
[19:49] <@Kotono> The bread and cookies are good - warm and freshmade. That counts for a lot. "Then how come more people don't know how to do it?" she asks, "Why not teach it around more?"
[19:52] <@John> He shrugs, not knowing any answer to that question. "Maybe it's just not worth knowing? If I was still on the farm back home, none of the spells I know'd do me a blind bit of good. S'only 'cause I'm always off getting into trouble that it's any use. Same for how good I am with a staff, that's not something you need to know if all you're doing is tending herds and sowing crops."
[19:53] <@Kotono> "Until a dragon comes along," Missy-Anne murmurs, reaching out to touch John's shoulder a moment.
[19:57] <@John> "Suppose that does happen here more often than back home," he admits with a nod, blushing a little at the touch. Thankfully he's made good progress on regrowing that beard so it's less obvious than usual.
[20:03] <@Kotono> "I like that," she murmurs, "You're so brave and you come back with so many nice things. You're a hero."
[20:04] <@John> "Be nice having someone who's waiting on me to come back with those nice things for a change," he smiles at her. He was just not long ago thinking about that too.
[20:09] <@Kotono> "I'd like to be that person," Missy-Anne blushes and looks down, but doesn't move her hand, either.
[20:11] <@John> He should probably say something really suave here, but that's a tall order at the best of times, and even worse when they have her dad as an audience. "Well... looks that way, then." That makes sense, right?

~

[18:36] <@Kotono> It's a quiet day at home. Winter's on the way out, with the weather only chilly instead of cold. Myann's been playing with a few wheels of cheese all morning, claiming to be directing fungi within them. Eventually she puts the last wheel down and exhales, "The trick is getting the different ones to work together instead of fighting. I have to make sure I ask all of them to do that, since
[18:36] <@Kotono> otherwise they don't want to share. " Myann sits back at that, "Say...Feather?"
[18:39] <Feather> "Yeah? Oh, just out of curiousity, how do you like platinum?"
[18:42] <@Kotono> "This cheese here? It should help the sick. You see, some types of fungi are good at - hm? Platinum?" Myann stops to blink, "It looks nice. Better than gold, not quite as nice as silver or mithril. But I like the color of all three a lot."
[18:44] <Feather> "Oh good. It just reminds me of you. Besides, I think it works nicely," Feather muses. "So, uh, sorry to interrupt the important fungus thing there, Myann, but I've been thinking. If we have some fancy ceremony someone will probably crash it and creep out all the guests, yeah? So how about something small and private? If you want to?"
[18:51] <@Kotono> Myann smiles and blushes, "I want to," she says softly, "You're also right. I was thinking, something during the early summer? We don't tell anyone until it's time?"
[18:58] <Feather> "Folks will probably find out," Feather admits, retrieving a platinum ring adorned with a green rock from the underground spring that he had polished and placed in it. "It's not my trade so I had our friends below make it. Not the most secretive people, those."
[19:02] <@Kotono> "Oh!" Myann looks at it and gasps, "It's beautiful!" Her eyes widen as she looks at it, growing watery.
[19:03] * Feather scratches at his cheek, offering the ring to Myann. "Maybe you could wear it on a necklace for now?" he suggests. "I'll keep mine close, too."
[19:05] <@Kotono> Myann offers her hand out to Feather, "Could you slip it on?" she asks, "I'll repurpose one of my chains for it, but right now I want to wear it."
[19:06] * Feather puts it on Myann's ring finger, before retrieving his own, which looks identical down to the stone.
[19:14] <@Kotono> With the ring on, Myann rises and envelops Feather in a crushing hug. Her grip is strong as she clings to him, "I promise I'll stay with you, no matter what happens and what the Sidhe do."
[19:16] <Feather> "I'll keep you safe," Feather promises. "No matter who from. And more than that, you'll stay free, even if someone starts having ideas about that."
[19:18] <@Kotono> "I'll keep you safe, too. I'm going to find a way to make those mushrooms I dream of," Myann whispers back, "Porridge was enough. I'm not going to lose you too."

[18:09] <@RagnaroKo> A few days later, Feather finds Myann and Feather passing an evening. Myann's been half-heartedly sewing something, but she finally puts it down in favor of speaking up. "Feather?"
[18:12] <Feather> "Yeah?" he asks, peering at a cheap flute.
[18:14] <@RagnaroKo> Putting aside the tunic she's working on, "I've been meaning to ask you. You don't mind me taking all these mementos from our adventures, do you?"
[18:15] <Feather> "Nah. At least that way they go to someone who likes them and get some use. Not like we're in a bad way about money."
[18:21] <@RagnaroKo> "I feel like I'm going to clutter up the house with them," Myann admits, "Especially if..." she trails away a moment, "I'm not entirely sure how the Sidhe make children," she confesses, and quieter, "I had a nightmare that I'd wake up one day and plant a child, rather than doing it the normal way. That's being silly...isn't it?"
[18:23] <Feather> "If it gets too cluttered, we'll build a shed," Feather reasons. "If that gets cluttered, we'll see about sorting them out. And yeah, I bet that's silly."
[18:26] <@RagnaroKo> "I know, I know...just...I'm afraid you'd hate me if I started shedding spores or something silly." Myann looks away. "I know that shouldn't happen, but what if it does?"
[18:30] * Feather scratches his neck. "I dunno what to say. When you start worrying about weird things that never happened-- I can't tell you not to worry if you do." He shrugs. "I won't hate you. If you're still worried, maybe you could look into that? Plenty of fey out there are eager to give you a hand, and we've got other friends in the know, too."
[18:33] <@RagnaroKo> Myann sighs and crosses her arms, a look of exasperation, "The last thing I want to do is ask a Sidhe about making children. I don't want to think of how many ways that could go completely wrong. But...thank you." Myann sighs again.
[18:34] <Feather> "Kral, then? Look, I get being worried. So we can keep on doing that, or we can try to find out."
[18:37] <@RagnaroKo> "I might," Myann says, "I still have a couple of days before planting season. I could make a day of a quick trip. In flight I'd be back well in time for dinner."
[18:38] <Feather> "Take your time. I'll just handle your share of the work if you're a bit late," Feather promises. "Nothing to it."
[18:41] <@RagnaroKo> OOC: About good there, Cor? Aiming to merge us all together now and get us moving, since we're all winding down.

~

[18:12] <@RagnaroKo> "Looks that way..." Missy-Anne seconds, a pause developing. Before it goes for too long, "Planting season starts soon."
[18:15] <@John> "Yeah," he says quickly. "Not as fun as harvest season, but be good to know we've got crops in the ground ready to go for when that comes 'round."
[18:17] <@RagnaroKo> "I won't get many chances to see you then. My parents expect me to help out," she admits.
[18:19] <@John> "Still see each other more than we would if I was off adventuring somewhere," John says on the bright side. "And you can still have a laugh and a chat with people when you're out sowing, so won't be that bad."
[18:23] <@RagnaroKo> "That is true," Missy-Anne admits, "So we need to take advantage of the free time while we have it now. Like..." she trails off, looking meaningfully at the door.
[18:26] <@John> John doesn't see how he can take advantage of anything with her dad sitting right over there! But maybe she has a plan or something? Deciding to follow her lead he looks at the door as well and blurts out, "Yeah! Yeah, I see what you mean. So lets...?" He doesn't know, but hopefully she'll take over and it'll be fine.
[18:26] <@RagnaroKo> Missy-Anne looks on in exasperation a moment, "Let's go for a walk," she suggests. "It's not so cold outside today."
[18:29] <@John> "Yeah, that's what I meant," John says unconvincingly, standing up and offering her a hand. Won't her dad just follow them around?
[18:34] <@RagnaroKo> Said Dad rises with a slightly unamused look. No check that, it's not amused at all. Somehow, it manages to convey the idea of violence without a word being said. Missy-Anne gracefully rises, blushing as she offers her hand out.
[18:37] <@John> Yep, he's gonna follow them. Resigned to further awkwardness, John walks out of his cabin hand in hand with Missy-Anne, waiting patiently for Bo to catch up before closing the door. Then they... walk around the lake? All three of them, having fun!

[18:13] <@RagnaroKo> "Who?" The kobold asks, speaking entirely clear Common. "As for languages, I speak your language better than most. Mom always said I was good at only two things - learning how to talk fancy and how to panic." He admits that with a hint of a rueful smile.
[18:15] <Gildas> "Ardaman of Bluespire." He repeats. "I do not know much of him, other than he was a wizard of one of the underground races. It might from dwarven or even kobold... or something else entirely." "I need to know as much as possible of him, even if he is not still alive."
[18:17] <@RagnaroKo> A shrug follows, "Sure, I can do that. As for the other, what languages are you going to want to learn?"
[18:20] <Gildas> "Dwarven, kobold... draconic..." He taps his chin. "Any others from the lands below would be suitable, but It's probably best to just focus with one, for now."
[18:20] <Gildas> He then looks down and kneels and offers a hand in greeting. "By the way, what's your name?"
[18:24] <@RagnaroKo> "Heso," He puts his much smaller hand in Gildas's large hand, "I can teach you."
[18:26] <Gildas> He smiles and nods. "Good to meet you, Heso."
[18:27] <@RagnaroKo> OOC: Okay, so hiring him to teach you?
[18:27] <Gildas> OOC: Sure.
[18:28] <Gildas> OOC: *Suikoden Recruitment noise*
[18:30] <@RagnaroKo> OOC: It'll be a total of 20 gold for tutoring per language. Post the expense and which ones you're learning (plus skill point reallocation) in loot.
[18:32] <Gildas> OOC: Okay.
[18:32] <Gildas> OOC: Does he know anything beyond the three listed?
[18:34] <@RagnaroKo> OOC: Not offhand, you'd have to get more exotic.
[18:36] <Gildas> OOC: Okay, then those three are fine for now. How exactly does this work? Do I put 3 points into Linguistics to cover the three languages?
[18:36] <@RagnaroKo> OOC: Yes.
[18:36] <Gildas> OOC: Okay. One moment.
[18:41] <Gildas> OOC: Done.
[18:43] * Joins: Feather (~DarkFlame@bzq-84-111-136-12.red.bezeqint.net)
[18:43] * RagnaroKo is now known as Kotono
[18:44] <@Kotono> The growing season is here! It's time for days of sunup to sundown, everyone gathering on the farm fields. There's the bit ones around the Holset Farmstead, as well as lots of family lots and expanded places. But first...OOC: Gildas, you were going to cast what spell again? Link me.
[18:44] <Gildas> OOC: http://dndtools.eu/spells/players-handbook-v35--6/plant-growth--2852/
[18:45] <Gildas> OOC: Specifcally, the enrichment portion.
[18:46] <Gildas> OOC: And multiple times if needed to cover everything.
[18:49] <@Kotono> Gildas stands before the Holset Farmstead, calling on the power of nature to cause plants to grow. It's just past sunrise and everyone is around, ready to begin the long day's work. On the spell being cast, the ground begins to glow a soft green shade. It's the same shade as the stones beneath the spring, fading after several seconds. The grass and bits of growth out of the fields rise several
[18:49] <@Kotono> inches in a few moment's time.
[18:49] <@Kotono> As the brood cries out in alarm and surprise, Robert whistles low. "Daaaaaamn."
[18:50] <@Kotono> Brutes looks around, "You made the ground glow!" he blurts out.
[18:51] <@John> "S'some good stuff," John says, noticing the effect it had on the weeds. "It'll work on seeds when we plan them as well, right?"
[18:51] <Feather> "No kidding!"
[18:51] <Gildas> He blinks and then nods. "I think... it's an interaction with what was already here." He nods to John. "It should. It should make this a very hearty harvest."
[18:51] <Gildas> "But whatever happens, it's the result of what was here before... I just brought out a little more."
[18:52] <@Kotono> In a low voice, Myann replies, "The little mushrooms here and there are happy. They just grew a lot."
[18:54] <Gildas> Oh, he hopes that he didn't just get the attention of a bunch of fey for all that...
[18:54] <@Kotono> "Well then," Robert raises his voice, "Let's get to this!" OOC: Okay, everyone do me a faovr and make a fortitude save for reference.

[18:55] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+14 (+4 more if he can get away doing something in his Dire Bear form which I somehow doubt but you never know...) and gets 15." [1d20=1]
[19:00] <@Kotono> The spring is a time of hard labor and long days. Each day everyone works from sunup to sundown, the only respites brief breaks to eat and drink. Sleep each night is deep and blank. After about a week of good work by everyone, one morning Robert leads everyone back to the Holset Farmstead. The field you planted first has something unusual - namely, you can see sprouts poking up already. "See
[19:00] <@Kotono> those there? Those are the carrots we planted last week, and over there you can see cabbage and lettuce already starting to show."
[19:01] <@John> "Look like they'll be ripe before Summer's over at this rate," John reckons.
[19:03] <Gildas> Gildas can't do much other than nod to the words, raising a hand to his mouth to cover a yawn.
[19:03] <@Kotono> "Maybe quicker," Myann seconds, "We won't hav eany lean winters if things grow like this here."
[19:04] <@Kotono> OOC: Make a perception check, y'all.
[19:04] <Feather> roll 1d20+12

[19:06] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 Myann and gets 30." [1d20=17]
[19:06] <@Kotono> Feather and Gildas can notice something awry. Out of the corner of their eye, behind a tree, they catch a shadow of...something. Something small, but darting out of sight.
[19:08] <Gildas> He turns slowly in that direction, unsure of if it was something, or if his bleary vision just started to play tricks on him. "Did any of you see that...?"
[19:08] * Feather taps Myann's shoulder, asking her, "Don't suppose someone came to visit, right by that tree?"
[19:10] <@Kotono> Myann glances over, frowning, "I don't see a Sidhe," she murmurs, "But I saw -something-. Something that isn't really normal, either. John, did you see that-oh, there it goes. Invisible now," Myann points ahead, "It's a...rat?" She cocks her head to the side, "An invisible rat?"
[19:10] <Feather> "We wanna catch it?"
[19:11] <@Kotono> "I could go catch it. A hawk shouldn't have any trouble getting a rat," Myann remarks.
[19:12] <@John> "Huh?" John looks over, not having seen anything.
[19:12] <Gildas> Rat? Why does that sound oddly familiar...? He stifles another yawn. "Would you mind? I'm not sure I'm in much condition to go chasing something today..."
[19:12] <Feather> "Yeah, let's do that."
[19:12] <@Kotono> Myann transforms into a mushroom hawk, as Robert and the others watch curiously. She darts after the unseen rat, following it into the tree line and out of immediate fight. OOC: Y'all gonna do anything or just wait?
[19:13] * Feather follows after Myann once she leaves his sight altogether.
[19:13] <@Kotono> "Strangest damn things in this town," A man remarks to Rashen, who just shakes his head with a bit of a laugh.
[19:14] <Gildas> He yawns again but slowly walks after Feather but turns his head to respond to the man. "You couldn't even imagine it."
[19:14] <@John> It's just a rat. Why all the fuss? Probably hundreds of them around...
[19:16] <@Kotono> As the others approach the tree line, there's a sudden, loud THUMPING noise ahead. It shakes the ground, followed by Myann in hawk form, fleeing at top speed. Her avian eyes are almost comically wide, the hawk swacking as she lands before Feather. "John, get over here! Robert, get everyone away! We have a problem! A big-" THUMP "-problem!"
[19:18] <Gildas> Rat... ...why is it so familiar... ...familiar? He yawns again. It's right on the tip of his tongue... Myann's sudden appearance has him reeling. "W..what happened?"
[19:18] * Feather doesn't waste time in casting his best magic, asking her, "How close after you?" as he transforms.
[19:18] * @John starts running without wasting time on stupid questions!
[19:19] <@John> Towards the danger, that is. He's no coward!
[19:22] <@Kotono> Myann picks herself up, turning, "Close!" As John catches up, 40ft ahead it comes out of the tree line. It's a good thirty feet tall if not taller, a massive, roughly humanoid figure of dark wood. It has arms that end in clubs. The center of the beast glows a ruddy red, the faint, shadowy image of a rat glimpsed within. From the titan's mouth these words are ground out, "You...stole...him...from...me!
[19:22] <@Kotono> You...stole...my...chance...at...FREEDOM!" OOC: Init. This thing is gargantuan so that means 20ft reach. Bear that in mind if you close in.

[19:23] <Gildas> "...His familiar!" He just suddenly shouts in his bleary-minded state.
[19:23] <@John> "Hey, it's the Emperor's pet rat!" John calls out.
[19:23] * Kotono changes topic to 'Myann(22)>Feather(19)>John=Wood Titan(12)>Gildas(9)'
[19:24] <Gildas> He yawns again and waves his hand at John in agreement.
[19:26] <@Kotono> "Oh for-" Myann stares, falling back 30ft. At the same time, a red and white mushroom appears over Feather's head, falling onto him. Feather grows, becoming larger! OOC: Super mushroomed. Go Feather.
[19:27] * Feather dashes towards the much larger enemy, striking directly at the spot before the rat before dodging off to the side.
[19:28] <@Kotono> OOC:  You'll provoke an AoO barring acrobatics or the like. Going to try that or eat the AoO? Yes, it has CR.
[19:28] <Feather> OOC: Spring attack
[19:28] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay then, make your attack roll.
[19:29] <Feather> roll 1d20+14 oak feller
[19:29] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+14 oak feller and gets 21." [1d20=7]
[19:30] <@Kotono> Feather comes in and swings...but it's too tough. The creature's damned hard and hard to injure, the attack unable to penetrate its natural defenses! OOC: Miss. John and Wood Titan are up. Go John.
[19:32] <@John> What's that saying, the bigger they are the harder they something? Fall, that's it! Well, John rushes the giant tree and hurls his entire body against one of its legs to try and knock it down!
[19:32] <@John> roll 1d20+17 acrobatics to avoid AoO

[19:33] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+12 unfortunately you didn't quite beat it's CMD. so AoO, also the attack whiffed
[19:33] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+12 unfortunately you didn't quite beat it's CMD. so AoO, also the attack whiffed and gets 24." [1d20=12]
[19:33] <@Kotono> OOC: AC?
[19:34] <@John> OOC: 23
[19:35] <@Kotono> roll 2d10+14
[19:35] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d10+14 and gets 33." [2d10=9, 10]
[19:36] <@Kotono> OOC: How far away did you dodge, Feather?
[19:37] <@Kotono> John charges in, staff striking - and being deflected by a giant fist coming down! John's smashed hard into the ground, his vision growing blurry. His entire body hurts afte rthat, his vision obscured from that and blood trickling down from a head wound. It's hard to focus on anything after that blow! OOC: John's injured and a bit shaken up from that. He suffers a -1 penalty to all rolls until
[19:37] <@Kotono> some healing. Wood Titan is up.
[19:41] <@Kotono> The titan turns towards Feather, one fist going towards him, while the titan swings around and sends its other fist for John!
[19:41] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+12 vs Feather
[19:41] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+12 vs Feather and gets 29." [1d20=17]
[19:41] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+12 vs John ACs?
[19:41] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+12 vs John ACs? and gets 20." [1d20=8]
[19:41] <@John> OOC: still 23
[19:41] <Feather> OOC: Current AC makes it a hit since enlarge person
[19:42] <@Kotono> Feather's hit right in the chest, but instead of being smashed down, he shrinks down to size. John meanwhile sees it coming, stepping aside and avoiding another painful strike! OOC: Super mushroom's gone since it took the hit. Gildas.
[19:42] <@Kotono> Meanwhile, you can hear people fleeing behind you, making good in an escape from the titan that's come to pick a fight. The rodent within the center of it can be seen more clearly as the red glow intensifies.
[19:44] <Gildas> Gildas takes a breath and tries to stifle a yawn. He holds a hand up to the sky and envisions a crystal clear full moon. He swings his hand down and sends a bolt of energy at the Wood Titan! OOC: http://dndtools.eu/spells/spell-compendium--86/moon-bolt--4576/ Which I believe is 2d4 for me?
[19:44] <Gildas> OOC: Since I'm guessing it's just living and not undead.
[19:46] <@Kotono> For a moment, the full moon appears over Gildas. The moon bolt hits the titan head on - but nothing seems to happen. OOC: The wood titan is a construct and they're immune to ability damage.  Myann's up.
[19:47] <Gildas> OOC: I'm also going to shapeshift into my Dire Bear form.
[19:47] <@Kotono> OOC: Sure thing.
[19:47] <@Kotono> Myann stays well back, coming to within 40ft of John. She gestures, a fiery red and orange mushroom appearing over head. It falls on him, turning his clothes the same color! OOC: Fire mushroomed. Fireballs as noted in the description I'll paste and it soaks up the next hit for you. Go FEather.
[19:47] * Feather goes on the offensive, foregoing the swift strikes and focusing on circling the titan and raking it over with his swords.
[19:48] <Feather> roll 1d20+13 dervish, oak feller main
[19:48] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+13 dervish, oak feller main and gets 28." [1d20=15]
[19:48] <Feather> roll 1d20+8 dervish, oak feller main
[19:48] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+8 dervish, oak feller main and gets 26." [1d20=18]
[19:48] <Feather> roll 1d20+13 dervish, stone scimitar secondary
[19:48] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+13 dervish, stone scimitar secondary and gets 33." [1d20=20]
[19:49] <@Kotono> OOC: Those all hit. Do you provoke in dervish dance?
[19:49] <Feather> OOC: Should be +1 more to each attack. I do indeed provoke on the second attack here, and my AC vs AoOs is 32 there after I move the 10ft.
[19:50] <Feather> roll 2#1d6+4+1+2+2d12 oak feller
[19:50] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 2#1d6+4+1+2+2d12 oak feller and gets 48." [2#1d6+4+1+2+2d12 = 20, 28]
[19:50] <Feather> roll 1d6+3+1+2+1d6 last is fire
[19:50] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d6+3+1+2+1d6 last is fire and gets 13." [1d6=3][1d6=4]
[19:50] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+12 AoO needs a 20
[19:50] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+12 AoO needs a 20 and gets 13." [1d20=1]
[19:52] <@Kotono> Feather dances around the wood titan. His blade has trouble dealing damage to it even like this, until the last blow of the stone scimitar hits. The flame that trails behind it makes the wood titan glow red all over, a pained scream coming from it! "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" The entire thing thrashes as fire seems to spread all over it, cracks
[19:52] <@Kotono> appearing over its body! OOC: Ow. It did not like that fire damage. John and the titan are up.
[19:53] <@John> Fire's what John has too, and he's quick to test it out!
[19:54] <@John> roll 1d20+11 touch
[19:54] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+11 touch and gets 15." [1d20=4]
[19:54] <@John> roll 4d6 if that hits
[19:54] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 4d6 if that hits and gets 10." [4d6=1, 2, 1, 6]
[19:55] <@Kotono> A fireball comes from John's hand, flying right for the golem. It hits and explodes into a little burst, causing flames ot dance all over the golem. It continues to howl in pain as more cracks appear over it. The thing is burning merrily now! In spite of this it strikes out, one at both of the menaces near it!
[19:55] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+10 (-2 on fire) Feather
[19:55] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 (-2 on fire) Feather and gets 13." [1d20=3]
[19:55] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+10 (-2 on fire) John
[19:55] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 (-2 on fire) John and gets 14." [1d20=4]
[19:56] <@Kotono> But both blows are flailing things, striking out for little and less profit. OOC: Gildas.
[19:57] <Gildas> The dire bear moves in to try and take a paw to the flaming creature! OOC: 28 AC for the AoO first
[19:57] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+10 (-2 on fire)
[19:57] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 (-2 on fire)  and gets 17." [1d20=7]
[19:57] <Gildas> The bear raises up to slam a paw into the center of the creature!
[19:57] <Gildas> roll 1d20+18
[19:57] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+18 and gets 24." [1d20=6]
[19:59] <@Kotono> WHAM! The paw strike hits cracked and burning wood. A hunk of it's knocked away, feeling brittle and much weaker. The titan thrashes, shaking the ground as its arms try to quench the fire that dances over it. This doesn't stop Myann, who chants as a fire mushroom appears over Feather's head too. OOC: Fire mushroomed like John. Go Feather.
[19:59] * Feather alters his stance, to strike more fully with the stone scimitar this time about!
[19:59] <Feather> roll 1d20+13
[19:59] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+13 and gets 23." [1d20=10]
[19:59] <Feather> roll 1d20+8
[19:59] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+8 and gets 14." [1d20=6]
[20:00] <Feather> roll 1d20+14 oak feller, once more forgot to add +1 to the previous two
[20:00] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+14 oak feller, once more forgot to add +1 to the previous two and gets 18." [1d20=4]
[20:00] <@Kotono> OOC: All hit. It be vulnerable now.
[20:00] <Feather> roll 1d6+4+1+2+1d6 last is fire
[20:00] <Feather> roll 1d6+4+1+2+1d6 last is fire
[20:00] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d6+4+1+2+1d6 last is fire and gets 19." [1d6=6][1d6=6]
[20:00] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d6+4+1+2+1d6 last is fire and gets 15." [1d6=4][1d6=4]
[20:00] <Feather> roll 1d6+3+1+2+2d12
[20:00] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d6+3+1+2+2d12 and gets 22." [1d6=5][2d12=7, 4]
[20:01] <@Kotono> Fiery blades carve through the weakened construct. More hunks are torn off as bits of it crumble. It still takes a desperate swing at Feather as he dances and dodges around.
[20:01] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+8 (-2 fire, -2 damages)
[20:01] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+8 (-2 fire, -2 damages) and gets 18." [1d20=10]
[20:01] <Feather> OOC: Miss
[20:02] <@Kotono> But Feather sidesteps it as part of its leg is gone, the entire thing leaning heavily to the left. The red in the center is starting to flicker, the rat-shadow within starting to thrash. OOC: Ow. John and Wood Titan. Go John.
[20:02] <@John> Fireballs are pretty fun, John thinks as he throws another.
[20:02] <@John> roll 1d20+11 touch
[20:02] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+11 touch and gets 13." [1d20=2]
[20:03] <@Kotono> OOC: Hit.
[20:03] <@John> roll 4d6
[20:03] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 4d6 and gets 10." [4d6=4, 1, 1, 4]
[20:04] <@Kotono> Anothre fireball is too much. The titan goes up in flames, falling to the side. The fire spreads amid the growth-aided grasses here, as meanwhile the titan burns away in its own funeral pyre. OOC: Free act. Simmer would approve.
[20:04] <Feather> "Where's the rat?"
[20:05] <@John> "Burning up?" John guesses.
[20:05] <@Kotono> OOC: Make a perception check if you're rat-hunting.
[20:05] <Feather> roll 1d20+12
[20:05] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+12 and gets 27." [1d20=15]
[20:05] <Gildas> The bear seems to huff and yawn again before it shapeshifts back. He waves a hand around and casts Faerie Fire on the area, in case it's trying to hide somewhere nearby.
[20:06] <@John> roll 1d20+13
[20:06] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+13 and gets 23." [1d20=10]
[20:06] <Gildas> OOC: To be clear, on the construct since the actual burst is kind of small.
[20:06] <Gildas> roll 1d20+15
[20:06] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+15 and gets 31." [1d20=16]
[20:09] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+13
[20:09] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 and gets 21." [1d20=8]
[20:09] <@Kotono> No one in the party's fooled. You can see a burnt rat crawling out the right side of the titan's funeral pyre. It's staggering along and its head is down, but it's slowly moving.
[20:10] * Feather cuts off the rat's head.
[20:11] <@Kotono> OOC: Attack roll. It's not helpless and it'll at least try to dodge.
[20:12] <Feather> roll 1d20+16
[20:12] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+16 and gets 33." [1d20=17]
[20:13] <Feather> roll 1d6+4+1+2+1d6 die in a fire
[20:13] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d6+4+1+2+1d6 die in a fire and gets 11." [1d6=3][1d6=1]
[20:13] <Feather> roll 2d6 probably skirmish too?
[20:13] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 2d6 probably skirmish too? and gets 10." [2d6=6, 4]
[20:14] <@Kotono> Feather slashes at the rat. He cuts deep into its shoulder - but stunningly it doesn't go down. It's bloodied and burnt, but not dead. On that slash it looks up, eyes flashing with pure malice as...OOC: Init. It's not quiiiite dead.
[20:14] <Gildas> roll 1d20+2
[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+2 and gets 12." [1d20=10]
[20:14] <Feather> roll 1d20+9
[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+9 and gets 25." [1d20=16]

[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+2 Myann and gets 3." [1d20=1]
[20:14] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+8 rodent
[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+8 rodent and gets 12." [1d20=4]
[20:15] * Kotono changes topic to 'Feather(25)>Gildas=Rat(12)>Myann(3)'
[20:15] <Gildas> Gildas stifles a yawn again. "Shouldn't we try and..." He just yawns again. "I mean, it somehow tracked us all the way here, didn't it...?"
[20:15] <@John> roll 1d20+3
[20:15] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+3 and gets 14." [1d20=11]
[20:15] * Kotono changes topic to 'Feather(25)>John(14)>Gildas=Rat(12)>Myann(3)'
[20:15] <@Kotono> OOC: Open Feather.
[20:15] <@John> OOC: -1 on that, not that it matters
[20:15] * Kotono changes topic to 'Feather(25)>John(13)>Gildas=Rat(12)>Myann(3)'
[20:17] * Feather takes this a bit more seriously now, striking at the surprisingly resilient rat with everything he can.
[20:18] <Feather> roll 1d20+12 poison fort dc17
[20:18] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+12 poison fort dc17 and gets 16." [1d20=4]
[20:18] <Feather> roll 1d20+7
[20:18] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+7 and gets 9." [1d20=2]
[20:18] <Feather> roll 1d20+12
[20:18] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+12 and gets 29." [1d20=17]
[20:18] <Feather> roll 1d6+3+1+1d6 burn some more
[20:18] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d6+3+1+1d6 burn some more and gets 11." [1d6=1][1d6=6]
[20:19] <@Kotono> Feather's blade slashes into the rat. Its body is cut open, tumor-filled and studded organs falling out. This lasts only a moment, before the body shudders and becomes that of an old woman. Her body is distended by tumors all over, her eyes empty and vacant. She was once perhaps pretty, but age and death have taken that from her. OOC: Free act, you finished the job.
[20:20] * Feather stumbles away, cursing.
[20:20] <@John> "Aaaugh, that's way more mess to clean up now!" John complains.
[20:21] <Gildas> Gildas crinkles his nose but kneels down to investigate. He looked through that entire cave of dead bodies, he can manage to do a single one... rght?
[20:21] <Gildas> OOC: Just checking her over for anything.
[20:21] <@Kotono> Myann doesn't turn away, instead sighing and shaking her head. "Was that what this was all about?" she asks aloud. OOC: Checking for anything in particular, Gildas?
[20:22] <Gildas> OOC: Any items of note and any tattoos that might look familiar, like from a certain necromancer.
[20:22] <@John> "I mean, you can just chuck a rat anywhere and an owl'll get it, but now we're gonna have to dig a proper grave or she'll stink up the place," John continues expressing his dismay at the situation.
[20:24] <@Kotono> Meanwhile Myann turns away, "John, instead of that, help me get everyone so we can deal with this fire?" she says.
[20:24] <@Kotono> Nothing of note offhand. The body's not in good shape from the burns, cuts and tumors, though.
[20:25] <Gildas> "The mushrooms might be hungry." He says with a glance over his shoulder to Myann before he stands up. "Nothing on her... no signet rings, no weird necromantic tattoos, nothing."
[20:25] <Feather> "Sorry," Feather says, slumping a ways away. "Just let me catch my breath there."
[20:26] <@John> "Oh, sure, yeah," John nods, suddenly remembering that he's all winded when even more labour props up. "Gildas, just roll her into the fire will you? Might make life easier," he suggests before going to round up a bucket brigade. Or hell, just enough people to kick a ton of dirt on it.

Ebiris

[18:01] <@Kotono> Soon enough the fire is put out. The remnants of the wood titan lie before you, a charred mess of vaguely humanoid pieces. The body of the former rat has been put aside for the moment, as...OOC: Go ahead and set each of yourselves up here, I'll linea fter that.
[18:02] <@John> "I'm gonna go drink some healing water now," John says, staggering off to the lake to fix himself up the easy way.
[18:02] <Feather> "I reckon I'll go with you," Feather voices, following after John.
[18:02] <Gildas> Gildas nods to John and Feather. "I'll head back to the others to let them know it's been taken care of."
[18:03] <@Kotono> Around you the people work. It's been a good half hour of work to make sure the fires are fully put out. There's a slight air of grumbling, but it usually fades when anyone looks at the corpse.
[18:03] <@Kotono> OOC: Gildas, feel free to redo your line if you want, sicne last time it was mentioned going to get people to help firefight.
[18:04] <Gildas> OOC: Oh, right. Okay.
[18:05] <Gildas> Gildas indeed goes off to get people to help put the fires out first while the others take care of their injuries.
[18:10] <@Kotono> Myann lingers as well, helping with things before John and Feather take off. They start to - but a soft red light flickers in the charred ruins of the wood titan. For a moment the pieces stir, as if being jerked upward.
[18:14] <@John> With his back turned on it John is unaware and keeps walking unless it is drawn to his attention by someone else.
[18:14] <Gildas> Gildas blinks and quickly casts a magic detection spell to see if he can understand what's going on! Well, quickly and then a yawn follows. "Hold on, you two!" He calls out.
[18:14] <@Kotono> There is indeed magic coming from the burnt titan. OOC: Quick spellcraft check.
[18:15] <Gildas> roll 1d20+12
[18:15] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+12 and gets 13." [1d20=1]
[18:16] <@John> "Huh?" John turns and now sees the glowy animated wood chunks. "Is it wanting another round?" he asks, ready to throw more fire at it.
[18:16] <Feather> "Oh come on!" Feather exclaims, drawing his scimitars again as he casts Detect Magic.
[18:16] <Feather> roll 1d20+14
[18:16] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+14 and gets 32." [1d20=18]
[18:20] <@Kotono> Gildsa can't puzzle out the magic. Feather can, however. It has the distinctive marking of fey magic, flickering but enduring. Before your eyes the magic is mutating all over, dense nodes of magic forming all over the wood titan's body. Before your eyes, the titan's body bulges all over with tumors, just like the woman's dead body. "Took...him...from...me..." the voice echos. "Maxim...the Cycle
[18:20] <@Kotono> cannot...be escaped...It is your fate...to return to it today!"
[18:21] <@John> "What?"
[18:22] <Gildas> Gildas just frowns, his head too clouded to make heads or tails of any of that.
[18:23] <@Kotono> Myann draws her blade, "The Emperor said that when we fought him," she says, not a hint of anything in her voice. She says it cold, detached. "Those tumors and this power, what did that woman do to herself? Don't you know there's no happy ending chasing the power of the Sidhe?"
[18:24] <@Kotono> "Shit!" Samuel isn't the only one who says that, as a few farmers are quick enough to start fleeing. Others stare in shock, fascination and plain curiosity
[18:24] <@Kotono> .
[18:24] <Feather> "Go. Go!" Feather calls out to the gathered farmers, slapping the slow ones upside the head to stir them.
[18:27] <@Kotono> The farmers are urged to flee. As they retreat, the wood titan rumbles! It rises up, reassembling before your eyes. Burnt wood bursts as tumors bleed wood and vines, the burnt part of it being sloughed away before your eyes. Beneath it can be seen tangles of plants and trees, dozens of smaller samples knitting together into wood. "You took him from me!" The voice calls, louder and mingling, as
[18:27] <@Kotono> if many are speaking. "YOU TOOK HIM FROM ME!" This is an absolute roar as the titan slams a foot down! The ground beneath it cracks and craters, vines dancing across its skin as...OOC: Init.
[18:28] <Feather> "Shouldn't have put out the damned fire," Feather grumbles, raising his scimitars.
[18:28] <Feather> roll 1d20+8
[18:28] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+8 and gets 24." [1d20=16]
[18:28] <Gildas> roll 1d20+2
[18:28] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+2 and gets 3." [1d20=1]
[18:28] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+2 Myann
[18:28] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+2 Myann and gets 5." [1d20=3]
[18:28] <@John> roll 1d20+3
[18:28] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+3 and gets 17." [1d20=14]
[18:28] <@John> OOC: -1
[18:28] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+4 wood titan
[18:28] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+4 wood titan and gets 5." [1d20=1]
[18:29] * Kotono changes topic to 'Feather(24)>John(16)>Myann=Wood Titan mk 2(5)>Gildas(3)'
[18:30] * Feather opens same as last time!
[18:30] <@Kotono> OOC: Hold up a sec first, Feather.
[18:30] <@Kotono> OOC: Had a line mostly done that's relevant.
[18:31] <@Kotono> OOC: Y'all are 50ft from the titan, having partially walked away and then going to help shoo away fleeing farmers. Titan's size seems essentially the same, so reach is a concern. That all said, go Feather.
[18:32] <Feather> roll 1d20+13 spring attack, fire sword, swift expeditious retreat to dodge to the side 30ft after
[18:32] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+13 spring attack, fire sword, swift expeditious retreat to dodge to the side 30ft after and gets 15." [1d20=2]
[18:33] <@Kotono> Feather springs in, going faster! He slashes at the flank of the giant as he avoids a kick this time, having to dodge and miss his attack. As this happens...OOC: John.
[18:34] <@John> Rather than attacking immediately, John runs around the back of the charred up tree so he can flank it later on!
[18:34] <@John> roll 1d20+16 lets not get AoOd
[18:34] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+16 lets not get AoOd and gets 32." [1d20=16]
[18:35] <@Kotono> OOC: Success, no AoO.
[18:35] <@Kotono> OOC: How positioned relative to it?
[18:36] <@John> OOC: in melee opposite Feather
[18:37] <@Kotono> OOC: He also used swift expedious retreat to move 30ft from it.
[18:38] <@John> OOC: well fuck. Still doesn't change my move. Maybe someone else will be a flanking buddy.
[18:38] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay, duly noted. Myann and Mr. Woody Titan are up.
[18:39] <@Kotono> Myann moves forward 10ft, before gesturing and casting. A red and orange mushroom appears over John, soaking into him as it touches his head. The power of the fire mushroom is again his, filling him with fairy fires! OOC: Fire mushroomed again. Titan's acting now.
[18:40] <@Kotono> From the titan a mass of vines comes, erupting out from a tumor on its side. The vines fly quick and try, going right to Feather!
[18:40] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+16 CMD, Feather
[18:40] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+16 CMD, Feather and gets 22." [1d20=6]
[18:41] <Feather> OOC: 29 normally, 33 now
[18:41] <@Kotono> But Feather is too fast! As this happens, the titan makes a double ax-handle with its hands, slamming them down HARD at John!
[18:42] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+13 (???+1, DS on) AC John?
[18:42] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 (???+1, DS on) AC John? and gets 22." [1d20=9]
[18:42] <@John> OOC: 23
[18:43] <@Kotono> But John is a hair too fast, moving with a seemingly otherworldly knowledge. He dodges ahead of time, his speed and that enough to avoid the smash. It hits the ground hard, forming another crater where it hits. As the early morning sunshine lights the battlefield, you see vines knit tighter around the body of the titan. OOC: Okay. Gildas.
[18:44] <Gildas> Gildas once against shapeshifts into his larger Dire Bear form and goes lumbering for the wooden titan! OOC: AoO first I suppose, AC 28.
[18:44] <@Kotono> "Fairy..." The titan rumbles, turning to glare at Myann. "Leave, Lady of the Mushrooms, and I'll not take offense at your insult." At the same time, a foot comes out to kick the charging bear.
[18:44] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+13 (+1 ???, DS on)
[18:44] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 (+1 ???, DS on) and gets 18." [1d20=5]
[18:45] <@Kotono> OOC: Carry on, Gildas.
[18:45] <Gildas> The bear raises up to slam a paw into the chest of the titan once again!
[18:45] <Gildas> roll 1d20+17 I forgot the -1 from the loss of strength earlier
[18:45] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+17 I forgot the -1 from the loss of strength earlier and gets 35." [1d20=18]
[18:45] <@Kotono> OOC: Hit.
[18:46] <Gildas> roll 2d8+12+1d6+1d6 first is cold last is fire
[18:46] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 2d8+12+1d6+1d6 first is cold last is fire and gets 36." [2d8=7, 6][1d6=6][1d6=5]
[18:48] <@Kotono> "Go to sleep," Myann calls back, "Let us put you to sleep and end this nightmare. There's no happy ending at the end of the path you've chosen." As they banter, Gildas barrels and slams a heavy shoulder-check into the titan's leg. There's a heavy cracking as fire and ice spread across its leg. However, the fire is quickly surrounded by a tumor, consumed by a mouth of teeth, tumor and trees.
[18:48] <@Kotono> OOC: Feather.
[18:50] <Feather> Tumors upon tumors. Feather grimaces, and tries for another swift strike.
[18:50] <Feather> roll 1d20+13 stone
[18:50] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+13 stone and gets 24." [1d20=11]
[18:50] <Feather> roll 1d6+4+1d6 last is fire
[18:50] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d6+4+1d6 last is fire and gets 10." [1d6=2][1d6=4]
[18:50] <@Kotono> OOC: Staying in or falling back this time?
[18:50] <Feather> OOC: falling back 10ft
[18:51] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay.
[18:53] <@Kotono> Feather falls back, swinging and missing. The armor of vines comes up, barely deflecting Feather's blow! OOC: Missed. John, you're up.
[18:55] <@John> Shifting slightly so he's opposite Gildas on the other side, John starts hammering the diseased and burnt wood with his more cleanly deceased haft of former tree!
[18:55] <@John> roll 1d20+13
[18:55] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+13 and gets 24." [1d20=11]
[18:55] <@John> roll 1d20+13
[18:55] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+13 and gets 24." [1d20=11]
[18:55] <@John> roll 1d20+13
[18:55] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+13 and gets 32." [1d20=19]
[18:55] <@John> roll 1d20+8
[18:55] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+8 and gets 28." [1d20=20]
[18:55] <@John> roll 1d20+8
[18:55] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+8 and gets 25." [1d20=17]
[18:56] <@Kotono> OOC: Three hits. Crit chance on the last, it's alive enough to count for crits now.
[18:56] <@Kotono> OOC: Er, on the 4th.
[18:56] <@John> roll 1d20+8 confirm?
[18:56] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+8 confirm? and gets 9." [1d20=1]
[18:56] <@John> roll 5#1d6+7+4d6
[18:56] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 5#1d6+7+4d6 and gets 144." [5#1d6+7+4d6 = 32, 29, 32, 23, 28]
[18:57] <@Kotono> OOC: Three hits, John, not five.
[18:57] <@John> OOC: whoops, my bad. Ignore the 32 and the 29.
[18:58] <@John> OOC: Also the 25 since I forgot the -1 on rolls
[18:58] <@John> OOC: that was a 25 on the hit roll. Which was a 28 on the damage.
[18:58] <@Kotono> roll 32+23
[18:58] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 32+23 and gets 55."
[18:59] <@Kotono> John slams his staff out again and again! He dodges vines and tangles as he strikes, kicking away as he hammers the legs and leaps to smack the torso of the titan. The creature endures well - it takes slams but stays up, vines wrapping around the injuries and warding off further strikes. As this happens, Myann repositions slightly, bringing the fiery mushroom protection on Gildas this time! The
[18:59] <@Kotono> bear's fur turns fire-red, little wisps of flame leaking from its claws. OOC: Fire Mushroomed, Gildas. Wood Titan is up.
[19:01] <@Kotono> The wood titan leaps up, fists together in a double ax-handle, and slams down HARD into the ground! Massive shockwaves hit as pure force erupts around the party!
[19:01] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+13 (+1 ???, attacks everyone within 20ft, so everyone but Myann), AC y'all.
[19:01] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 (+1 ???, attacks everyone within 20ft, so everyone but Myann), AC y'all. and gets 27." [1d20=14]
[19:01] <Gildas> OOC: 28
[19:01] <@John> OOC: 23
[19:01] <Feather> OOC: 29
[19:02] <@Kotono> Gildas is quickest, holding out a burning paw. Waves of force part around it, leaving him safe. Wind and force slam into John, causing him to return to his normal colors but nothing more. Feather slices an X with his scimitars, cutting apart the erupting force ahead of him. But this barely provides a moment of respite, as vines erupt out from another tumor as Gildas!
[19:02] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+17 (+1 ???) CMD, Gildas?
[19:02] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+17 (+1 ???) CMD, Gildas? and gets 27." [1d20=10]
[19:03] <Gildas> OOC: Also 28.
[19:04] * Kotono changes topic to 'Feather(24)>John(16)>Myann=Wood Titan mk 2(5, thorn armor)>Gildas(3)'
[19:04] <@Kotono> But Gildas is able to avoid them as well, sidedoging and parrying other vines with burning claw strikes. Meanwhile, the vine-armor of the titan sprouts thick tree-like thorns, with the thorns looking like oversized incisor teeth. Thick gray hair dangles from them, with tiny trees growing on the hair like budding flies. OOC: Gildas.
[19:05] <@Kotono> OOC: Side-dodging. Gah.
[19:05] <Gildas> The bear growls at the thorns and aims his paws and the claws attached to them at the vines to try and dismember them all!
[19:06] <@Kotono> OOC: Targeting the thorns in particular?
[19:06] <Gildas> OOC: Yes.
[19:07] <Gildas> roll 1d20+16 might as well throw a SF in at the creature too, why not. It might be immune, but who knows!
[19:07] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+16 might as well throw a SF in at the creature too, why not. It might be immune, but who knows!  and gets 27." [1d20=11]
[19:07] <Gildas> roll 1d20+11
[19:07] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+11  and gets 17." [1d20=6]
[19:07] <Gildas> roll 1d20+11
[19:07] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+11  and gets 27." [1d20=16]
[19:07] <Gildas> roll 1d20+11 Claw 1
[19:07] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+11 Claw 1 and gets 29." [1d20=18]
[19:07] <Gildas> roll 1d20+11 Claw 2
[19:07] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+11 Claw 2 and gets 30." [1d20=19]
[19:07] <@Kotono> OOC: Slow down a sec, I was typing that this would count as sunder combat maneuvers.
[19:07] <Gildas> OOC: Oh, sorry
[19:08] <@Kotono> OOC: I assume you're committed to it so what's your CMB modifier?
[19:08] <Gildas> OOC: 11
[19:14] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay. I'm having to look ups rules about how natural weapon attacks, sunder and iterative/flurries work. This might take a bit, so I'm going to make a provisional ruling for this session instead of slowing us down any more. The normal attacks can be CMBs but the natural ones can't. This may or may not be correct, but it's what we'll roll with for now. First and third sunder attempts hit
[19:14] <@Kotono> and deal damage, you'll also take thorn damage in return unless you one-shot the thorn armor. You can choose to make the claws or not after that, depending if the armor's up and how much the thorns do to you. We'll sort those out after the two sunder attempts. Roll damage for the two successful sunders.
[19:14] <Gildas> OOC: Okie dokie, is the damage just the normal roll?
[19:14] <@Kotono> OOC: Yes.
[19:15] <Gildas> roll 2#2d8+12+1d6+1d6 first is cold last is fire
[19:15] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 2#2d8+12+1d6+1d6 first is cold last is fire and gets 69." [2#2d8+12+1d6+1d6 = 33, 36]
[19:15] <@Kotono> OOC: First thorn damage is absorbed by the fire mushroom, second gets through. More coming after the damage roll.
[19:16] <@Kotono> roll 1d6+7 damage to Gildas also Fort save
[19:16] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d6+7 damage to Gildas also Fort save and gets 9." [1d6=2]
[19:16] <Gildas> roll 1d20+18
[19:16] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+18 and gets 26." [1d20=8]
[19:17] <@Kotono> OOC: Armor's still up but pretty damaged as you'll see in the flavor text. Going to make the claw hits and take the damage?
[19:17] <Gildas> OOC: Sure.
[19:17] <@Kotono> OOC: Damage on those then.
[19:18] <Gildas> roll 2#1d6+13+1d6 last is cold
[19:18] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 2#1d6+13+1d6 last is cold and gets 41." [2#1d6+13+1d6 = 24, 17]

[19:19] <@Kotono> roll 1d4 int, wis, cha damage
[19:19] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d4 int, wis, cha damage and gets 4." [1d4=4]
[19:19] <Gildas> OOC: Does my thingamajigger reduce that to 3 damage or no?
[19:19] <@Kotono> OOC: No.
[19:19] <Gildas> OOC: OK
[19:21] <@Kotono> The bear slams out, flaming fists ravaging the thorny armor. Myann's mushroom protection vanishes, as thorns and bears do battle. Many thorns are broken, the armor of vines hanging limply now with many holes. It's in a bad way ,but Gildas is wounded several times himself. The wounds shudder and turn green, as tiny trees begin to grow out of them. In Gildas's mind, a strange thought comes to
[19:21] <@Kotono> mind. You are a tree. Gildas is a tree. You are a tree. You are a tree. You are a tree. Gildas feels his mind dulling, becoming like unthinking wood. OOC: These thoughts continue until noted otherwise. Feather, you're up and now to #elysium.
[19:21] * Feather forces himself to treat this opponent more seriously. It's time to stop with the probing strikes and trade accuracy for volume, and so he advances upon the titan! His stone blade flashes out at it, and then Oak Feller joins the attack as he continues to circle his enemy!
[19:22] <Feather> OOC: dervish dance, I'll circle it and then attack. AC vs AoO is 31.
[19:22] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+13 The AoO
[19:22] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 The AoO and gets 22." [1d20=9]

[19:24] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d6+7 thorn damage and make Fort, Feather. and gets 13." [1d6=6]
[19:24] <Feather> roll 1d20+11

[19:24] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d4 int, wis, cha damage oooowww and gets 2." [1d4=2]
[19:27] <@Kotono> Feather leaps in, avoiding another blow as he slashes into the arm of the wood titan. He rips away more wood, a tumor punctured by his slash. As fires are consumed by tumors, a thorn pierces Feather's arm. Trees sprout in the wound, as Feather's mind tells him, You are a tree. You are a tree. You are a tree. You are a tree. A strange grogginess of mind follows, just like Gildas. OOC: Ow. John.
[19:27] <@John> He could stop and cast a spell to make himself hit harder, but it's probably better if he just keeps on hitting it, right?
[19:27] <@John> roll 1d20+14 flanking
[19:27] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+14 flanking and gets 24." [1d20=10]

[19:28] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+9 flanking and gets 14." [1d20=5]
[19:28] <@Kotono> OOC: One hit. At least that only means one bit of thorn damage.
[19:28] <@John> roll 1d6+7+4d6
[19:28] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d6+7+4d6 and gets 29." [1d6=6][4d6=6, 4, 5, 1]
[19:28] <@Kotono> roll 1d6+7 and Fort
[19:28] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d6+7 and Fort and gets 13." [1d6=6]
[19:28] <@John> roll 1d20+10 fort
[19:28] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+10 fort and gets 28." [1d20=18]
[19:29] <@Kotono> John's mostly on the defensive, dodging and weaving around blows. He manages to crack the leg of the titan again, making it wobble. It's enough to largely defend himself, but a single thorn jabs into his shoulder. The wound feels strange, but no trees grow out of this one! Myann grows low in her throat, gesturing, "Fall!" she calls, as a block of wood comes flying at the titan.
[19:29] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+10 touch AC vs a giant creature, this is pretty much a foregone conclusion
[19:29] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 touch AC vs a giant creature, this is pretty much a foregone conclusion and gets 16." [1d20=6]

[19:30] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+4
[19:30] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+4 and gets 21." [1d20=17]
[19:31] <@Kotono> The block hits the titan in the chest, making it stumble back. But it keeps its balance as vines lash out again, this time at John!
[19:31] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+17 (+1 ???) CMD, John
[19:31] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+17 (+1 ???) CMD, John and gets 20." [1d20=3]
[19:31] <@John> OOC: 29
[19:33] <@Kotono> But the tumor vines are nimbly avoided as the titan growls, "Just suffer! Die!" It bellows, "Hurt like you hurt me, murderers! He was my husband, you bastards!" Big fists slam out, trying to flatten the party whole!
[19:33] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+7 Gildas (-5 CE)
[19:33] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+7 Gildas (-5 CE) and gets 20." [1d20=13]
[19:34] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+7 John (-5 CE)
[19:34] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+7 John (-5 CE) and gets 23." [1d20=16]
[19:34] <@Kotono> OOC: ACs?

[19:34] <@Kotono> roll 2d10+14
[19:34] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d10+14 and gets 26." [2d10=4, 8]
[19:34] <Gildas> OOC: 2...8... no it's lower because of Wis... uh... I think it's 26 now
[19:35] <@John> "He killed my friends you bas-arghh!" John's retort is abruptly and no doubt satisfyingly cut off by a giant fist.
[19:36] <@Kotono> The fist that comes down smacks the wounded John but good. John's vision ripples and flickers, his head ringing as his vision tints red. But he's still up, just barely! Meanwhile, the half-ruined armor begins to repair. It doesn't undo the majority of the damage, but it fixes up some of the ruined vines and thorns. OOC: Gildas, go.
[19:37] <Gildas> The bear roars! His mind might be dull and wooden, but his anger certainly isn't! OOC: I'll aim at the thorns again if that's all right.
[19:37] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay. CMB checks this time. One at a time.
[19:38] <Gildas> roll 1d20+11
[19:38] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+11 and gets 18." [1d20=7]
[19:39] <@Kotono> OOC: Failure. Next one.
[19:39] <Gildas> roll 1d20+11
[19:39] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+11 and gets 25." [1d20=14]
[19:39] <@Kotono> OOC: Success. Damage and then thorn damage.
[19:40] <Gildas> roll 2d8+12+1d6+1d6 first fire, second cold
[19:40] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 2d8+12+1d6+1d6 first fire, second cold and gets 25." [2d8=5, 3][1d6=1][1d6=4]
[19:40] <@Kotono> roll 1d6+7 and more coming, so don't roll the next yet.
[19:40] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d6+7 and more coming, so don't roll the next yet. and gets 13." [1d6=6]
[19:40] <@Kotono> With a massive paw strike, Gildas shatters the vine armor! It falls away, thorns and vine defenses no more! The titan's defenses are down! OOC: Continue your attack now.
[19:40] * Kotono changes topic to 'Feather(24)>John(16)>Myann=Wood Titan mk 2(5)>Gildas(3)'
[19:41] <Gildas> OOC: No fort save for the thorn?
[19:41] <@Kotono> OOC: You're already affected.
[19:41] <Gildas> OOC: Oh! Good point.
[19:41] <Gildas> roll 3#1d20+11
[19:41] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 3#1d20+11  and gets 55." [3#1d20+11 = 25, 12, 18]
[19:41] <@Kotono> OOC: One hit.
[19:42] <Gildas> roll 2d8+12+1d6+1d6 first is fire, last is cold
[19:42] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 2d8+12+1d6+1d6 first is fire, last is cold and gets 25." [2d8=4, 3][1d6=2][1d6=4]
[19:43] <@Kotono> With the armor down, Gildas strikes the chest of the titan with a mighty leap. It knocks it back further, tumors breaking from the blow. It looks on the beat-up side now, but still has more fight in it. As this happens, "Hold on!" Hylath's voice is heard, running up. He's 60ft from the titan, with Tindas next to him. A horde of Zygraats fly overhead as he points, "Webs!" OOC: Adding them to
[19:43] <@Kotono> init.
[19:43] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+6 Hylath
[19:43] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+6 Hylath and gets 23." [1d20=17]
[19:43] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+4 Tindas

[19:44] * Kotono changes topic to 'Feather=Tindas(24)>Hylath(23)>John(16)>Myann=Wood Titan mk 2(5)>Gildas(3)'
[19:44] <@Kotono> OOC: Go Feather.
[19:44] * Feather abruptly changes his direction and continues circling the titan as he methodically tries to carve it up back into burnt logs.
[19:45] <Feather> OOC: AC vs AoOs is 31
[19:45] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+13 (+1 ???)
[19:45] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+13 (+1 ???) and gets 31." [1d20=18]
[19:45] <@Kotono> roll 2d10+14 unlucky
[19:45] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d10+14 unlucky and gets 27." [2d10=10, 3]
[19:45] <@Kotono> OOC: Carry on, I'll describe it all at the end.
[19:45] <Feather> roll 1d20+13 it happens, zap
[19:45] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+13 it happens, zap and gets 19." [1d20=6]
[19:45] <Feather> roll 1d20+13
[19:45] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+13 and gets 21." [1d20=8]
[19:45] <Feather> roll 1d20+8
[19:45] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+8 and gets 16." [1d20=8]
[19:46] <@Kotono> OOC: Two hits. Since this makes it clear, it's AC is 19 right now.
[19:46] <Feather> roll 1d6+4+2+4d6+1d6+5d6 last are fire and elec, skirmish
[19:46] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d6+4+2+4d6+1d6+5d6 last are fire and elec, skirmish and gets 43." [1d6=5][4d6=5, 1, 5, 1][1d6=5][5d6=5, 1, 1, 4, 4]
[19:46] <Feather> roll 1d6+3+2+4d6 no construct damage, right?
[19:46] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d6+3+2+4d6 no construct damage, right? and gets 25." [1d6=3][4d6=5, 3, 6, 3]
[19:47] <@Kotono> OOC: It's living no so no construct damage.
[19:49] <@Kotono> With the titan's defenses down, Feather charges in. He's smashed tremendously hard, his left leg snapping violently! Even as he manages to stay up in sublime agony, he slashes again and again in his dance. He rips and slices into the side of the titan, hewing away good chunks of viney wood and tumors. More grow to patch the wound, but not fast enough. OOC: Left leg's broken bad. Movement speed
[19:49] <@Kotono> halved. Tindas is up.
[19:49] <@Kotono> "Get 'em!" Tindas calls, the zygraats flying overhead! Webs come flying over the face and mouth of the titan!
[19:49] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+4 touch AC
[19:49] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+4 touch AC and gets 20." [1d20=16]
[19:50] <@Kotono> The spider hawks spread webbing all over the titan's face, covering its eyes with it. Its movements look less sure now, vision obstructed. "Get them!" Hylath calls and begins to sing in elven. It's a stirring song of war and valor, bringing courage to all of you. OOC: +2 morale bonus to attack rolls, weapon damage rolls and saves vs fear. John, go.
[19:51] * Kotono changes topic to 'Feather=Tindas(24)>Hylath(23)>John(16)>Myann=Wood Titan mk 2(5, webbed)>Gildas(3)'
[19:52] <@John> Hitting it didn't work out so well last time. Maybe he'll give that tripping thing a go. Mind set, John drives his staff into the back of the thing's knee to try and force it to the ground!
[19:52] <@John> roll 1d20+10 cmb
[19:52] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+10 cmb and gets 21." [1d20=11]
[19:52] <@Kotono> OOC: Success in its current state. Make your trip followup.
[19:52] <@John> roll 1d20+17 flanking attack
[19:52] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+17 flanking attack and gets 36." [1d20=19]
[19:53] <@John> roll 1d20+9+2d6
[19:53] <@Kotono> OOC: Hit.
[19:53] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+9+2d6 and gets 26." [1d20=8][2d6=3, 6]
[19:53] <@John> roll 2d6 no need to half sneak attack
[19:53] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 2d6 no need to half sneak attack and gets 4." [2d6=3, 1]
[19:54] <@Kotono> With a deft sweep of his staff, John hits the side of the titan hard. It's enough to make it wobble...and fall! It hits the ground hard enough to make the trees shake! The followup is John running up the body of the webbed wood titan, slamming the butt of his staff into its neck over and over again! As he ravages it, "Hold on," Myann calls, a fiery red mushroom appearing over John and once again
[19:54] <@Kotono> giving him fiery mushroom power. OOC: Fire mushroomed. Titan is up.
[19:55] <@Kotono> The arms of the titan go up to rip away the webs on its face!
[19:55] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+9 str check
[19:55] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+9 str check and gets 17." [1d20=8]
[19:56] <@Kotono> The webs are torn off, restoring the titan's sight. At the same time, vines erupt from a tumor on the giant's chest, going right for Feather!
[19:56] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+17 CMD?
[19:56] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+17 CMD? and gets 20." [1d20=3]
[19:56] <Feather> OOC: Higher
[19:57] <@Kotono> But Feather slices out, stony blade crushing the vines beneath its swing. Finally, instead of viney armor, the vines on its body sink into its wounds, visibly repairing them before your eyes! OOC: Okay, it's still prone but no longer webbed. Gildas.
[19:57] * Kotono changes topic to 'Feather=Tindas(24)>Hylath(23)>John(16)>Myann=Wood Titan mk 2(5, prone)>Gildas(3)'
[19:57] <Gildas> OOC: Can I just tear at the vines or am I just better off walloping it?
[19:57] <@Kotono> OOC: No difference here, the vines are healing it soooo.
[19:57] <Gildas> OOC: Okay then!
[19:58] <Gildas> The bear raises off its legs to slam its paws down onto the creature, then tear at it with his claws!
[19:58] <Gildas> roll 1d20+16
[19:58] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+16 and gets 36." [1d20=20]

[19:59] <Gildas> ooC: not sure if secondary attacks can crit but just in case
[19:59] <@Kotono> OOC: They can.
[20:00] <Gildas> OOC: Okay, so I think that's 1 crit, and 4 other hits?
[20:00] <Gildas> OOC: Wait, no... 3.
[20:01] <@Kotono> OOC: Yes.
[20:01] <Gildas> roll 4d8+24+1d6+1d6 fire, cold
[20:01] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 4d8+24+1d6+1d6 fire, cold and gets 43." [4d8=2, 6, 2, 7][1d6=1][1d6=1]

[20:02] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 2#1d6+12+1d6 last is cold and gets 36." [2#1d6+12+1d6 = 20, 16]
[20:02] <@Kotono> Gildas leaps up! He slams feet into the titan's middle and upper chest, opening up craterous holes from his strikes. They freeze and burn as one, the titan thrashing beneath as it is savaged. OOC: Ouch but not out. Feather.
[20:04] * Feather puts everything into crushing the downed titan!
[20:05] <Feather> roll 1d20+13+2 stone, zap

[20:06] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 2#1d6+3+2+2 crit and gets 20." [2#1d6+3+2+2 = 8, 12]
[20:08] <@Kotono> Feather stumbles, pain in his leg as he looks down. Bone is poking out of his leg as he forces it, the compound fracture obvious to anyone with eyes. Yet he forces himself on, diving forward to slash through the shoulder of the titan's right arm. It's cut off at the shoulder, removing one threat for good. OOC: Movement speed is 1/4th now and you suffer 1 hp bleed damage a round starting next
[20:08] <@Kotono> round. Healing would be wonderful. Hylath is up.
[20:08] <@Kotono> Hylath continues to sing, staying away from the melee. Meanwhile Tindas whistles, his zygraats going up for another swoop adn firing more webbing.
[20:08] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+4 touch AC

[20:09] <@Kotono> Webbing again covers the titan's face, leaving it blind! OOC: John, go.
[20:10] * @John plays a tune on the thing's wooden tumerous spine like a big xylophone!

[20:14] <@Kotono> Slam after slam hits the titan. Like this it can't meaningfully defend itself, John able to slam the creature's spine. There's a woody CRACK as the spine gives way, the creature shuddering. The tumors begin to pop and deflate as it goes still. "Love..." the titan whispers, "All of you...know this...never know love...never know love as long as you live!" OOC: Will saves, Feather/John/Gildas. +2
[20:14] <@Kotono> bonus if you used a cold iron weapon to deal damage to the titan this battle. +2 if you're wearing armor made of cold iron.

[20:17] <@Kotono> There is a terrible feeling of loss in the air...but slowly, it fades.  Around you, the titan breaks apart. In its place rise a dozen massive oak trees. The tower over even the normal canopy of the Vastwoods, a loose circle around a mostly hidden clearing in the center. There is silence as...OOC: First, Feather'n'Gildas, make secondary fort saves.
[20:18] <Feather> roll 1d20+11

[20:18] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d12 int, wis, cha damage, let me know what your scores are after this, Feather takes this, Gildas made the secondary save and is safe and gets 3." [1d12=3]
[20:19] <@Kotono> OOC: Free act.
[20:19] <@Kotono> OOC: Loot post.
[20:19] <@John> "That's a mean thing to- oh Pelor I hurt everywhere!" John blurts out as the adrenaline leaves him.
[20:20] <Gildas> Gildas immediately shapeshifts and casts a spell to detect magic as well as poison on himself to see if he can figure out what in the world happened to himself.
[20:21] <Feather> OOC: int7/wis7/cha6
[20:22] <@Kotono> Myann rushes over to Feather, casting two quick healing spells on him, followed by going over and casting four on John.
[20:22] <@Kotono> roll 2d8+10 Feather
[20:22] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d8+10 Feather and gets 19." [2d8=7, 2]
[20:22] <@Kotono> roll 4d8+20
[20:22] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 4d8+20 and gets 49." [4d8=8, 5, 8, 8]
[20:23] <@Kotono> There's fading magic all around. The Sidhe magic is broken up - it's not hard to see that it's returning to nature now.
[20:23] <@John> "Ohhhh... that's nice. You're a good one, Myann," John says in relief, popping his back as he straightens up. "Thanks."
[20:23] <@Kotono> OOC: The healing fixes your leg, Feather. Forgot to say. Likewise, you rhead is better now, John.
[20:24] <@Kotono> Myann sighs and shakes her head, "You're welcome," her gaze is on the trees and clearing. She silently goes to the clearing and kneels there.
[20:25] * Feather hobbles towards the nice healing spring again.
[20:25] <@Kotono> Tindas cracks his neck and steps forward, the zygraats above going ot perch in the new trees, "So what in hell's name happened?" he asks, "I saw everyone running like dead chickens twice in a row."
[20:26] <@Kotono> Hylath goes over to Feather, offering a shoulder, "Need help?" he asks, "That was excellent bravery there! I need to compose a new tale for it."
[20:26] <@John> "It was a fairy rat in a tree," John explains helpfully. "It turned into a hag and then into a tree with fleshy stuff all in it."
[20:26] <@Kotono> "What." Is all Tindas says back, perfectly flat.
[20:27] <@John> "Had to have been there."
[20:27] <Gildas> Gildas yawns again before following after Feather. "She said she was married to him... married to your own familiar?" He mutters something on his way.
[20:28] <@Kotono> Myann stays in the grove a few moments, rising after, "Come on, let's all go to the spring now that this is done," she announces. "She won't come back after a death curse."
[20:29] <@John> "Guess I'll see if Missy-Anne wants to dump me soon enough..." John says, discomfited that a rathagfairy could wield such influence. Still, nothing to be done so he tags along after Myann.

Ebiris

[18:08] <@Kotono> The party heads to the spring. Drinking heals the physical damage and ability damage. However, Feather and Gildas can note that flesh has knitted around trees that jut out, which are still there. If anything, they look even more vibrant than before.
[18:09] <Feather> "Hey now, that ain't supposed to happen," Feather mutters, getting out of the water.
[18:10] <Feather> roll 1d20+14 spellcraft
[18:10] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+14 spellcraft and gets 19." [1d20=5]
[18:11] <@John> "If it's a parasite the healing water'll help it as much as you, yeah," John says, giving it a look over. "Might need to cut them off or sick them out."
[18:11] <@John> roll 1d20+15 heal for what to do?
[18:11] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+15 heal for what to do? and gets 26." [1d20=11]
[18:12] <@Kotono> There's faint magic, but Feather can't puzzle it out. It's the same sort of Sidhe magic as Ira. For that matter, Gildas's trees radiate the same thing.
[18:13] <@Kotono> John can tell that they're bonded into the flesh. It looks like surgical removal would be the way to go. The surrounding skin is somewhat bark-like rather than fleshy below the surface, too. It looks like a fairly smooth integration, so surgical or magical means are likely needed.
[18:14] <Gildas> Gildas frowns and decides to try and identify the magic for himself as well.
[18:14] <Feather> "Wasn't thinkin' straight," Feather mutters, looking at the bark with a frown.
[18:14] <Gildas> roll 1d20+12 spellcraft if I can
[18:14] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+12 spellcraft if I can and gets 29." [1d20=17]
[18:14] <@John> "Yeah, reckon if you keep them in then the bark'll spread," John says after thinking it over a moment. "Cutting 'em out's probably best. 'Less you want to be all tree-ey."
[18:15] <@Kotono> Myann looks on before gently rubbing her forehead, "I have a bad idea about this," she remarks. Meanwhile, Gildas manages to puzzle out the magic. It's fragments of a few thing. There's lots of Sidhe magic here, as well as bits of the potent magic of the spring - as well as the plant growth spell Gildas cast. It looks like all the various powers have tangled together and interacted oddly to
[18:15] <@Kotono> encourage rampant growth. It's mostly the fault of the tumors, which by nature see to encourage that, Gildas can conclude.
[18:15] <Feather> "So, uh, cut them out then try the spring again, hope for the best?" Feather asks, offering the stone scimitar to John.
[18:16] <Gildas> He takes a breath. "It's because of... everything." He gestures at the spring. "It's fey magic with the spring added and those tumors. I can try and muster a spell to dispel it, but I don't know if I'm strong enough to do so."
[18:17] <@Kotono> Myann comes forward, taking Feather's hand and holding it tight.
[18:18] <@John> "Reckon I'll need a smaller knife," John says dubiously. "Come on, may as well get away from the spring first. I'll heat up a carving knife and give that a go," he says, leading them off to his cabin.
[18:18] <@Kotono> "Hold on, let me gather some water up," Myann calls, "Since my spells are running low. In case something goes wrong."
[18:19] <@Kotono> OOC: So your plan here is to try and remove the trees, John?
[18:19] <@John> OOC: yes. And probably some surrounding skin.
[18:20] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay, Feather or Gildas first? Declare which and then make a heal check.
[18:20] <Feather> OOC: I volunteer!
[18:21] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay then, make that heal check.
[18:21] <@John> roll 1d20+15 this may sting a little
[18:21] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+15 this may sting a little and gets 30." [1d20=15]
[18:22] <@Kotono> roll 6d6 damage and more coming
[18:22] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 6d6 damage and more coming and gets 22." [6d6=6, 2, 5, 1, 5, 3]
[18:24] <@Kotono> It's like having to tear up and dig out every single little bit of wood. IT involves a lot of cutting, digging and bleeding. The pain is enough to make Feather black in and out a few times, but it's done. The trees, little roots and bark are all gone, bloodily put aside.
[18:26] <@John> "Phew," John wipes a blood-stained hand across his sweaty brow. "Alright there Feather? Was more to it under the skin than I'd thought."
[18:27] <Feather> He tried to hold back on the screaming at first, but biting down on a thick bit of leather could only help so much. When it's over, all Feather can do is shakily twist his arm in something that might be charitably called agreement.
[18:27] <@John> "Ready for your turn Gildas?" John asks. In retrospect maybe he shouldn't have watched.
[18:28] <@Kotono> Myann is immediately there, chanting a healing spell and then passing Feather a jug of healing water.
[18:28] <@Kotono> roll 1d8+1
[18:28] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d8+1 and gets 5." [1d8=4]
[18:28] <@Kotono> OOC: +4 more.
[18:28] <Gildas> "Ready is a relative term, I think." He says with a small smile, but he takes a seat nonetheless.
[18:29] <@John> "S'alright, reckon this one'll be easier now I know what I'm doing," he says in an effort to reassure Gildas. This is a lot different than splinting broken legs back on the farm, so it's a learning experience for him too!
[18:29] <@John> roll 1d20+15
[18:29] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+15 and gets 21." [1d20=6]
[18:29] <@Kotono> OOC: +2 bonus for pulling off the first one, but doesn't matter here. Line coming.
[18:31] <@Kotono> roll 6d6 Gildas
[18:31] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 6d6 Gildas and gets 24." [6d6=4, 3, 2, 4, 6, 5]
[18:31] <@Kotono> Gildas's trees are rooted in deeper. John gets some of them out, but a few of the roots and bark sinks in deeper and evades his knife. Getting those out isn't realistic without copious use of healing water and a hell of a lot more cutting, he thinks.
[18:34] * @John sucks in air through his teeth as he considers the matter. "Alright Gildas, mate, gonna have to be honest with you here. There's some stuff in deep right against the bone. I can go for them but it might ruin your arm, can't make any promises. If you want to try that dispelling idea... might be a good time. Either that or get some woodworm in there."
[18:36] <Gildas> Well, he did almost die that one time, so this isn't... quite as bad...? Nope, nope, still just as bad. "...I have an idea." He manages to get out. He reaches into his pack with his not-currently-blooded and bleeding arm and withdraws the Longsword from the Circle. "Try this. Can you put it near the wounds where the roots are?" He somehow manages to get all of that out in one coherent sentence.
[18:36] * Feather recovers enough to drink the sping water in slow sips.
[18:36] <Gildas> He swallows once after asking. "It's a long... story about where it came from, but... I think it will work."
[18:38] <@John> "Gotta be worth a shot," John agrees, taking the sword off him. He's no good at using this kind of weapon to fight with, but he can hold it steady in the already present excavation he's made of Gildas's arm, though he's careful not to scrape the bone. That just sounds awful.
[18:38] <@Kotono> OOC: Putting the sword in, then?
[18:39] <@John> OOC: just the tip!
[18:39] <@Kotono> OOC: This sounds horribly dirty. Line coming.
[18:39] <@Kotono> OOC: Actually, make a Fort save first, Gildas.
[18:40] <Gildas> roll 1d20+14
[18:40] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+14 and gets 15." [1d20=1]
[18:40] <Gildas> OOC: Of course.
[18:40] <@Kotono> roll 2d4+1 con drain and more lines coming
[18:40] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 2d4+1 con drain and more lines coming and gets 5." [2d4=2, 2]
[18:42] <@Kotono> The sword is stuck into the wound. The arm begins to wither and turn dead white and black, blood gushing to the sword. The remaining bits of bark and root fly out with that blood, thankfully. They turn to ash as they touch the sword, crumbling away.
[18:43] <@John> "Yikes!" John pulls the sword away after the wood is all killed. "Well... shit Gildas. That worked but... maybe digging into the bone would've been better."
[18:44] <@Kotono> Myann quickly grabs another jug of water, passing it to John, "Here," she says quickly.
[18:44] <Feather> "Thanks for stopping me," Feather says, staring between the sword and his scimitars in disbelief.
[18:45] <@John> Dropping the sword John starts slowly dousing Gildas's arm with water from the jug provided.
[18:45] <@Kotono> "Spring time. Try that water and let's get walking," Myann says briskly, "I'm worried you might lose that arm otherwise."
[18:45] <Gildas> He lets out a yelp because, wow, that hurts a lot!
[18:46] <@Kotono> The water soothes the pain of the wound, but the arm doesn't look much better, either.
[18:47] <Gildas> He takes a breath and moves to stand. "I'd rather lose an arm than my mind, if it comes to that. But maybe I won't have to lose either."
[18:47] <@Kotono> As that works, one can note the cursed sword glows faintly. It's ab loody red color.
[18:48] <@Kotono> OOC: Springing it again then, y'all?
[18:48] <Gildas> OOC: Might as well try!
[18:48] <Feather> OOC: I'm fine with relying on Myann bringing me water from it
[18:49] <@John> OOC: lets give Gildas a proper dunking
[18:50] <@Kotono> OOC: If you're going to stay ,she'll burn a few charges to heal you up first, Feather, and then catch up with them as they walk.
[18:50] <@Kotono> roll 3d8+15
[18:50] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 3d8+15 and gets 25." [3d8=5, 2, 3]
[18:51] <@Kotono> The trip to the spring is without incident. Gildas takes a good spring dunking! (More)
[18:51] <@Kotono> roll 1d100
[18:51] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 40." [1d100=40]
[18:54] <@Kotono> The wounds heal a little bit. The raw injuries knit and a tad of feeling returns to the arm. But that's it. The arm's generally unresponsive. OOC: Right now your left arm is all but useless. -2 penalty to attack rolls, you can't two hand things and do tasks that require two hands at once. You'd have a bad arm in bear form as well, and a bad talon in bird form. Doesn't impact aerial flying,
[18:54] <@Kotono> though. HP's restored but the con drain isn't. You'd need a restoration or greater magic to fix that, likely.
[18:56] <@Kotono> Myann watches it, biting down on her lip as the arm only mends the obvious injuries. "Gildas?" she asks.
[18:56] <@John> "Does it feel better than it looks?" John asks hopefully.
[18:57] <Gildas> He lets out another sigh as he comes out of the spring. "Well, at least I'm not dying. I'm sure we can get this fixed... somewhere." He smiles and nods to John. "Thank you for saving my sanity, either way."
[18:57] <@John> He nods, at least comforted that Gildas isn't holding it against him.
[18:58] <@Kotono> Crossing her arms and hmming to herself, "If it comes down to it, I can probably secure help from the Sidhe. That's an obvious last resort," she adds. "Vasili or the Circle? We could try the Magus and the kobolds, just fish for information or someone who can help."
[18:59] <Gildas> "The sword came from them -- the Circle, I mean." He nods. "They asked me to uncurse it for them... I think I might've accomplished that task."
[19:01] <Gildas> "It also might come back on its own... I can try a restorative spell tomorrow."
[19:05] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay, so what's y'all plans now? There's planting to be done, but Myann'll help with that while the rest of you rest and/or try to help Gildas, if you like.
[19:06] <Feather> OOC: Is there more work to do at the town, or can we go adventure?
[19:06] <@John> OOC: I don't want to waste my +14 farming check!
[19:07] <@Kotono> OOC: There's some more planting to do.
[19:07] <@Kotono> OOC: If Gildas is going to try some of his own magic, it's best to see how that shakes out first, though.
[19:07] <Feather> OOC: The Circle is close enough for a flight over, so maybe Gil could check with them while we do some hardcore farming?
[19:09] <Gildas> OOC: That's fine.
[19:10] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay then. Gildas, into #evildunes.
[19:12] <@Kotono> The planting continues. It's hard work, moreso short a hand with Gildas otherwise occupied. The next day at noon the children bring out lunches - great big platters of meat, bread, cheese and vegetables(mostly mushrooms). Other of the brood(including El) bring along mugs and big pitchers of watered down, chilled beer. "Aaah," Robert says after a mouthful of sandwich goes down, "Toughest time of
[19:13] <@Kotono> the year."
[19:14] <@John> "Yeah. Least with harvest you're pulling out food that's practically ready to eat," John agrees, savouring a nice cool drink. "Now there's nothing to pay it off for months."
[19:15] <@Kotono> Rashen is too busy eating to comment, but Brutes says after chugging an entire pitcher, "Might be quicker. They're growing damned fast here. It isn't natural at all."
[19:15] <Feather> "Could all go to waste," Feather agrees, finding a spot in the shade for lunch.
[19:17] <@Kotono> > Myann trails behind Feather, making several sandwiches and starting on them. She polishes off two before speaking up, "I'm going to tran-er, sleep for a week when this is all over," she says.
[19:18] <John> "How much quicker than everywhere else is it here in other years just from the ground?" John asks Robert, figuring it's probably an issue to start with even before adding Gildas's magic.
[19:19] <@Kotono> "Not that much quicker," he admits, "Just much easier to get bumper crops." Robert goes to sit on the ground and stretch out just past the field, tearing into his own meat sandwich. "Growing this fast is new."
[19:20] <@Kotono> After a nother sandwich goes down, "The spell Gildas cast doesn't work like that. At least he said that, so I'm pinning it on mixing magics. Perhaps we'll grow giant vegetables when this is all over."
[19:21] <John> "Be something to see. Remember once we had a freak carrot, about two feet long. Folks came from miles around to see it..." John reminisces fondly.
[19:21] <Feather> "How did it taste?" Feather asks curiously.
[19:22] <John> "Never ate it," John shakes his head. "Kept it out for folks to look at until it went all rotten."
[19:23] <Feather> "Might get a second chance here!"
[19:25] <@Kotono> "How'd you get onet hat long?" Myann asks idly.
[19:25] <@Kotono> "The vagaries of chance?" Hylath pipes up, leaning against the shade tree. "It sounds like a story."
[19:26] <John> He shrugs. "Just happens sometimes, yeah. Be sat in the field with regular ones all around it, nothing obvious like getting more sun or water or nothing. Just happens."
[19:30] <@Kotono> "Mutation," Myann responds thoughtfully, "Certainly something the Sidhe know." She hmmms to herself, "You think Gildas is doing alright right now?"
[19:30] <Feather> "Can't get worse than that, surely?"
[19:31] <John> "Doesn't seem like it's getting worse, yeah. I figure those Circle guys are pretty weird and powerful so they can probably help him out."
[19:32] <@Kotono> "With what you've done," Hylath says seriously, "I don't fear he'll find a way to get it fixed. We may be rural farmers, but you're certainly heroes worthy of the most refined civilization."
[19:32] <Feather> "Did say sword came from them," Feather muses. "There's that."
[19:32] <@Kotono> Brutes shrugs, "Hope so. Going lame's bullshit," he says, "It's damned bullshit and a damned shame."
[19:35] <@Kotono> "Here's hoping," Robert groans and gets up, "Alright everyone, back to this. Sooner we get back to it, sooner we're done for the season."
[19:36] <John> Downing the last of his beer and stuffing a sandwich into his mouth, John gets up to get to work!
[19:36] * Feather finishes his last sandwich and follows suit, eager to get as much done today as possible!
[19:37] <@Kotono> OOC: John, do me a favor and make a profession: farmer check. Feather'n'Myann can aid.
[19:38] <John> roll 1d20+14
[19:38] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+14 and gets 32." [1d20=18]
[19:38] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+1 Myann aids
[19:38] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+1 Myann aids and gets 19." [1d20=18]
[19:40] <Feather> roll 1d20+2
[19:40] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20+2 and gets 8." [1d20=6]
[19:44] <@Kotono> Excellent time is made. Between John leading the way, Feather's energy and Myann's magic, more and more planting is done. The sundown dinner is served on the long picnic tables, everyone eating. It's a feast of stews and fresh bread tonight, everyone eating ravenously. Myann is leaning heavily against Feather, yawning in between bites. As John eats, he notices Missy-Anne coming this way. She's
[19:44] <@Kotono> limping a bit and looks exhausted, but she's coming over. She's wearing an old housedress that's all dirty, like she's been doing planting work all day.
[19:47] <John> Not like John's clothes are in any better condition. "Alright Missy-Anne?" he asks, getting up to offer her a hand in getting onto the bench next to him.
[19:48] <@Kotono> "Yeah," she says, sounding bone-weary. She sinks in next to John, "Evening," she mutters around to the table. "I said I'd come visit," she says.
[19:49] <John> "Well I'm glad to see you," he tells her, moving to start filling up a plate for her.
[19:52] <@Kotono> After that she eats, a pause in the conversation. After a bit of that, "Such hard work, but there's no helping it. And you don't find gold just planting things." she adds.
[19:53] <John> "Can't eat gold neither."
[19:55] <@Kotono> "Mmmm-hmmm," Myann interrupts with a yawn. She rises, "I think Feather and I will retire early." The two talk briefly before rising and going off.
[19:55] <@Kotono> "Can't," Missy-Anne smiles a little bit, "I just wanted to see you for at least a bit."
[19:58] <John> "G'night you two," John says as they depart before turning back to Missy-Anne. "Well it's nice to see and be seen," he tells her, reaching out to lay his hand atop hers. Hopefully her dad won't spring out of nowhere on them. "Noticed your leg though. What happened to it?"
[20:06] <@Kotono> Missy-Anne blushes as her hand is taken, but smiles demurely. "I slipped a bit planting. It's sort of painful," she admits.
[20:11] <John> "Well drink some water and that'll help," he suggests, pouring a glass out for her and putting it by her plate. "If it's still giving you trouble I can give it a muscle rub, see if that helps." Far less risky than surgery at least! Barring overprotective fathers anyway...
[20:13] <@Kotono> The water is drunk! Missy-Anne's eyes widen as she stands up, "It does feel better," she smiles, "Thank you!" She's all dimples and cheerfulness at that,b eaming at John.
[20:14] <John> "Pretty good living by a healing spring right? Your drinking water's better than any expensive healing potion!"
[20:18] <@Kotono> "So since you don't need to buy healing potions, does that mean you could get me a gold necklace," she asks cutely, squeezing John's hand.
[20:19] <@Kotono> A few others watch this back and forth, Robert chuckling to himself and shaking his head.
[20:21] <John> "Uh... I'll see if the kobolds have anything..." John says, a bit surprised at the sudden request even after hearing her extoll on the virtues of gold a few times before already. He's met noblewomen with less profligate tastes! Still, it's not like any other women are beating a path to his door, and she is pretty and sweet-tempered.
[20:22] <@Kotono> "Thank you," With a bat of her eyelashes, Missy-Anne leans in to give John a quick kiss on the cheek. She blushes afterwards and looks down. You can hear good natured chuckles around the table.

[19:17] <@Kotono> > OOC: To be clear since it wasn't, Circle first or your own magic first?
[19:17] <@Kotono> <Gildas> OOC: Lesser Restorations first thing when I get up.
[19:17] <@Kotono> > Gildas casts lesser restoration! Nothing seems to improve from it.

[19:20] <@Kotono> OOC: You need restoration or higher to deal with drain.
[19:21] <Gildas> OOC: Right, that spell Druids don't get for reasons I don't understand.
[19:22] <Gildas> OOC: In that case then, yes, off to my good friends the local hippies.
[19:26] <@Kotono> OOC: If they did get it, I'd probably say it's a 5th level spell for them. MAde that a houserule for Muirfinn in the coda, but that's irrelevant since you can't manage 5th level spells in any event.

[19:27] <Gildas> OOC: Something to look forward to!
[19:28] <@Kotono> It's not a terribly long flight to reach the Circle. About halfway, you notice something awry. Floating just above the canopy level is a block. It's one of those wooden blockade blocks Myann favors. It glitters golden.
[19:29] <Gildas> Curiously, Gildas flies up to investigate it!
[19:31] <@Kotono> It's a glittering, golden blockade block. Redundancies aside, it's exactly what you'd expect for it.
[19:33] <Gildas> He goes to tap it with his good talon to see if anything happens.
[19:35] <@Kotono> The block is tapped. The gold glitter falls away as a cluster of twisted, golden coins pop out of the top of the block.
[19:36] <Gildas> He moves to give one a closer look! Didn't the kids mention something about finding mushroom coins...?
[19:40] <@Kotono> It looks to be six coins. They're twisted, warped and altogether malformed. On one side is a mushroom and on the other is a picture of a woman. It might be Myann, but it's not done well enough to tell.
[19:42] <Gildas> He decides to take one with him but moves to continue on his way.
[19:42] <@Kotono> OOC: Loot post.
[19:47] <@Kotono> The rest of the trip is without incident. Getting in is likewise accomplished with a few ho-hums, the path to the Circle revealed. It's empty this time, save for Kral. He's sitting indian style and awaiting.
[19:50] <Gildas> "You have the look of someone who knows exactly why I'm here." He says with a small smile. "It is good to see you again."
[19:53] <@Kotono> "Your arm says it all. The more sensitive members of the Circle noticed it as you drew close." Kral says blandly.
[19:53] <Gildas> "I don't know if I've yet accomplished the task I was given with the sword, but I thought to return it for your inspection nonetheless."
[20:06] <@Kotono> Kral nods again, "Let me see it."
[20:07] <Gildas> He withdraws the sword and moves to stand nearby, holding it out for his inspection.
[20:10] <@Kotono> The sword is inspected carefully. Kral doesn't touch it, but instead studies. He finally shakes his head, "It isn't done. It soaked up blood, nothing more. There's strange magic around it," he adds. "Stranger than it was before."
[20:13] <Gildas> "We had a... run-in. With..." He shakes his head. "It isn't important. Suffice to say, I had a... tree growing in me, I used the sword to get it out. It's how my arm... well, I'm sure you already know." He sighs. "Can you think of any way to get my arm back to where it was before? I'm sorry to ask such a relatively petty question of you."
[20:18] <@Kotono> This gets Kral to blink and look at Gildas evenly, "You were born under a troublesome star. Hmmm..." Kral trails off as he considers, "Several. More powerful restorative magic might work. Cutting off the arm and using an incredibly powerful spell to regenerate it would work. Reincarnating into a new body would, but that's rather extreme."
[20:19] <Gildas> He laughs quietly at the last. "Yes, I would hope we could keep it as simple as possible."
[20:20] <@Kotono> "Let me see it," Kral says, "Your arm, that is."
[20:21] <Gildas> He puts the sword away and kneels down and turns his arm to him as best he can.
[20:24] <@Kotono> Kral casts a few spells, eyes glowing with blue magic and lines of red. He examines the arm for some time, doing it slow and methodical. He taps, touches, rubs, pokes and otherwise has his way with the limb. When finished, "Stay here, sit a spell," Kral says. "I need to tal kto someone else about this. It should be quiet, most of the rest of the Circle is otherwise occupied or prefers to
[20:24] <@Kotono> avoid that arm."
[20:27] <Gildas> He nods and does as he's instructed to do, taking a comfortable position. He does decide to cast a detect magic for the heck of it while he waits though, since he's never really tried to analyze the magic that must be present all around this place.

[17:11] <Gildas> He nods to himself, that seeming to be the answer he expected to find.
[17:14] <@Kotono> Kral is gone perhaps a half hour. He returns alone and sits opposite Gildas. "Your arm is all but dead," he reports, "That damage won't ever heal by itself and it's agreed the spring doesn't have the oomph to heal it. There is one other option that I didn't mention - the dreamer thinks that the right type of fire can burn out the deadness."
[17:16] <Gildas> He nods to Kral's return and then takes a moment to process the information. "The type from far below, by any chance?"
[17:17] <@Kotono> "Yes. A burning sea, as the dreamer called it. I couldn't get anything else about it from the dreamer," he adds with a slight hint of annoyance.
[17:19] <Gildas> He smiles. "We just had a visitor from there, actually. I will endeavor to make a trip there... thank you for asking. I'm sorry to impose again."
[17:19] <@Kotono> "Caution. There are realms down there that are unknown to everyone," Kral cautions. "Step wisely."
[17:22] <Gildas> He smiles again and nods. "We ran into something like that too, once... but it is as you said yourself: I was born under a troublesome star." He chuckles and moves to stand up. "I will try and find you all something to return the favors you've bestowed on us and especially Myann. I don't think we've ever properly thanked you for your time in that regard."
[17:23] <@Kotono> "You do that," Kral says, shaking Gildas's good hand. OOC: You ready to head on back now?
[17:26] <Gildas> OOC: Indeed.
[17:27] <@Kotono> OOC: I'll rejoin you into #dunes in a bit.

~

[17:07] <@Kotono> The next morning the party sans Gildas gathers. Everyone's there, getting to work just past sunup. Em trots on up at a jog, "The kobolds are asking around about you," she reports.
[17:08] <@John> "Don't they know it's planting season?" John grumps. "Oh, wait. Guess they wouldn't, would they? Well, may as well go see and hope it's quick?"
[17:09] <Feather> "Yeah, gotta be quick about it," Feather agrees, jogging over.
[17:11] <@Kotono> Myann shakes her head, "Go on without me," she says, "I'll help cover for you. The mushrooms'll chip in if I ask them."
[17:16] <@Kotono> From there the duo heads down to the kobolds. Things are frantic here, kobolds coming and going. Shaman Ten'ten'tal is running around rather frantically, "War! It's war!" he announces abruptly.
[17:16] <Feather> "Oh hells! War? With who?"
[17:16] <@John> "War with who? Don't they know it's planting season?" John objects.
[17:18] <@Kotono> "The Blackroot tribe!" Shaman Ten'ten'tal reports, "Somehow they've mobilized and taken to the march! They're fighting like kobolds possessed!"
[17:20] <@John> "Against the lizards and ants, right?" John asks, as any other answer would be inconcievable.
[17:20] * Feather wonders if maybe that crazy fey they freed should've killed all those kobolds after all.
[17:21] <@Kotono> "Against anything!" Shaman Ten'ten'tal waves his arms around, "They don't sto puntil they're dead! They don't even say anything! It's not natural!"
[17:22] <Feather> "You try blocking their path with, uh, holy explosions?"
[17:22] <@John> "Yeah, do that," John agrees.
[17:24] <@Kotono> "We're working on that," Shaman Ten'ten'tal agrees, starting to pace back and forth. "It's almost like the lizards are controlling them, but it's not quite right. What if they do something unthinkable and start using the surface world to come from above? Could you imagine that?"
[17:25] <Feather> "We'll send them packing if they try," Feather promises. "But them lizards, you got a way to tell if that's true? Might be easier to kill the lizards doing this."
[17:28] <@Kotono> "We're working on it, but yes," The Shaman says. "That's exactly what I want you to do. Keep an eye out for the stinking kobolds! If they're being controlled, we may be able to do something. But we need time and to make sure we aren't hit from above. This is so wrong that I wouldn't put it past them."
[17:28] <@John> "'Sides, if all they do is fight won't they starve or thirst to death pretty soon? Just put up some barricades and wait 'em out."
[17:28] <Feather> "We see any, we knock them out and check for weird magicks. Works for you?"
[17:29] <@Kotono> "Works," The Shamans ays, "It will be done." OOC: So your plan is to keep watch and continue planting, I presume?
[17:30] <@John> OOC: no good killing all the bad kobolds if we starve ourselves to death
[17:33] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay.

[17:35] <@Kotono> Finally! The last day of planting! It finishes about halfway between noon and sunup to the celebration of all. A massive feast is laid out in the light of late afternoon as festivies and joy flow freely. Amid this the four happen to sit near one another, Myann casting a glance at Gildas's arm. "How's the arm holding up?"
[17:37] <Gildas> "In so far that it hasn't fallen off yet? Just fine." He smiles. "I got an answer -- Apparently the solution is down where our dwarf friend came from."
[17:38] <Feather> Tomorrow, they'll worry about strange kobolds and Gildas and a myriad other things, but for now Feather is just happy they made it through planting season alright.
[17:38] <@John> "Hope he hadn't closed off the way behind him when he went back down then," John says, pleased a cure looks in the offing.
[17:40] <@Kotono> Myann's rather busy eating at first. When she finally finishes her plate and a mug of ale, "So that'll be our first thing to do after planting season?"
[17:40] <Gildas> "I don't want to send everyone on some aimless journey just for that." He says. "If we have the time and there are no pressing issues elsewhere."
[17:42] <@John> "Well there's the crazy kobolds, but if war comes our way we'll want you in good shape, won't we?"
[17:42] <Feather> "Crazy kobolds are trying to kill everything, yeah," Feather agrees, savoring his ale. "John's right, too. Can't use that arm now, can you?"
[17:44] <@Kotono> Myann leans over, resting her head on Feather's shoulder. "Mmmm..." she just murmurs, "But the heat down there's a problem, isn't it? All th emushrooms deeper down mention heat or lava."
[17:44] <Gildas> He nods. "You're right on both accounts. I can probably muster a spell to protect us from the harsher elements. I'll do some thinking on it."
[17:47] <Feather> "What about that fire potion? If you drank it and went below...."
[17:50] <@Kotono> "We need to figure out that plan," Myann says, "What spell are you thinking of, Gildas? Also, what's that fire potion do?"
[17:50] <Gildas> He shakes his head. "It doesn't last long enough. ...Oh! Speaking of lasting..." He rummages in his and produces one of the mushroom coins from his earlier adventure to Myann. "I happened across a block on my trip, I thought you might want to see one."
[17:52] <@Kotono> Myann takes a look at it and sighs, flopping her head back onto Feather's shoulder. "Fey powers still don't make a damned lick of sense," she grouses. ignoring the feasting all around the party. As jokes and laughter fly in the background, "Keep it. As far as I know it's real gold."
[17:52] <Gildas> He nods to her question afterwards. "The potion works against flames and fire magic to a rather hearty extent and seems to make the imbiber immune to feeling any kind of fear. The spell I was thinking of is just one to endure elements, but I was going to try and create one to work on all of us at once, for the sake of convenience."
[17:52] <Gildas> He smiles and chuckles at that. "I'll treasure it."
[17:53] <Feather> "That spell? Uh, don't think it'd do much for lava."
[17:54] <@John> "Is there any spell that'll protect you if you fall in lava?" John asks. "Always figured that was it, done and gone if you fell in that stuff."
[17:55] <@Kotono> "Not if you're a fire mushroom. They like the lava," Myann adds in absently, "The ones that feed gold and precious gemstones when they're growing."
[17:57] <Feather> "There's that," Feather muses. "What about the dwarf's home? Do you need to actually swim in the lava to get there? Can you see through lava? Or breathe in it?"
[17:57] <Gildas> "It probably involves freezing it when you land in it." He responds. "But as for the effectiveness of the spell... I'd have to go back to where the opening is and try it."
[17:58] <Gildas> "I don't think they live in the lava... well, I'd hope not. If they do then things become a lot more complicated."
[17:58] <Feather> "Don't suppose you could ask the fire mushrooms about that, Myann?"
[18:00] <@Kotono> "They don't really understand enough," Myann says, "They're too simplistic."

[18:34] <@Kotono> It's hard to breathe after a few minutes. It's like you're sick, chests thick with moisture. But you endure at two minutes down, still able to breathe. It's not as bad as last time, your spell allowing you to endure the heat.
[18:34] <Gildas> Gildas bird-nods and looks around for any signs of a bottom as he continues.
[18:36] <@Kotono> You go down a good ten minutes. After awhile it becomes a little easier to breathe. The air becomes much drier. It's noticably hot again, but your magic seems to be buffering a large part of it. Finally, you can see something below - a reddish glow. You'd need to descent further to tell anything more than that.
[18:37] <Gildas> He bird-nods again to Myann and continues in that direction!
[18:38] <@Kotono> Another ten minutes down or so pass. The red glow below looks ot be solid ground. The ground looks to be stone glowing with heat. It looks like you're descending into a cavern. You can't see much from here, but it's probably not much more down. About a half hour up or down as the birds fly.
[18:39] <Gildas> Gildas looks up back the way they came. Wow, this far down? He keeps going, but checks on Myann every so often to make sure she's okay with it as he goes.
[18:41] <@Kotono> Myann seems fine as you descent. As you almost reach the bottom...OOC: Make a Wis check.

[18:42] <@Kotono> You land. The ground is hot but not painfully so. Myann looks around, shifting back to human form. A confused look is on her face, "Gildas," she says, "Did you feel that?"
[18:43] <Gildas> He shapeshifts back as well and shakes his head. "No, I didn't feel anything. What happened?"
[18:45] <@Kotono> "I felt like I traveled far in a moment," she says, after some pause. "I had a sense of traveling, somehow. Moving." As you look around, you can see you are indeed in a chasm. Ahead the passage continues until a turn, to which you can't see past.
[18:46] <Gildas> "Perhaps we passed through some sort of portal on the way down? It's possible we went a lot further than we thought." He gestures ahead. "Shall we?"
[18:49] <@Kotono> The two head down the passage. Past the turn it rises up - and you can see a strange orange-reddish light from above. It seems to emerge towards...something.
[18:53] <Gildas> He blinks and looks at it. "Interesting. Artificial lighting, you think?"
[18:54] <@Kotono> "Not sure," Myann says, "Shallw e go find out?"
[18:55] <Gildas> He nods. "Let's."
[18:58] <@Kotono> Thus you rise up! Ahead of you is a vista - a rocky plane. You come out of a cave entrance there, standing beneath an orange-red sky. It reminds of iron heating up in the forge. Great, wispy clouds of steam dance in the sky above you. There's no sign of a sun, light instead coming evenly from all about the sky. The ground is covered with patches of thick purple moss, growing up in clumps several
[18:58] <@Kotono> feet tall. A few trees can be seen here and there, much farther away. You don't see an end to this chasm in any direction, just the horizon.
[19:00] <Gildas> "...Do you think they'll even believe us?" Gildas says as he takes a look around. "Should we just fly a bit lower so we don't go too high up?"
[19:00] <@Kotono> Myann's eyes are wide as she looks around. "I don't believe it, and I'm seeing it right now."
[19:02] <Gildas> "I think we must have passed through... something before we landed here." He gestures back behind them. "But still... is this normal for them, I wonder? Is this just their version of the Vastwoods?"

[18:21] <@Kotono> The next few days are mostly rest. It's a bit past noon, Gildas and Myann off on some underground adventuring. The two sit in the pub, nursing drinks. As they do, Rashen comes on in. "Ho there," he says, settling on in. He takes a large mushroom and starts to eat it, as, "So we finally have a bit of time to sit down and think again. "
[18:22] <Feather> "Yeah? And what yer thinking about?" Feather asks curiously, turning to face Rashen while signaling for a refill.
[18:22] <@John> "S'nice yeah, can just do whatever now," John agrees, slowly sipping on some weak ale.
[18:23] <@Kotono> "Town's starting to grow," Rashen says, "Figure now that planting season is done, we'll get more travelers and settlers. I was thinking we need something that stands out besides just a tavern."
[18:24] <Feather> "Like a trading post?"
[18:25] <@Kotono> :
[18:25] <@John> "I was thinking the place needed a watch-toweror or two," John admits. "Proper trading post'd be good too, though."
[18:26] <@Kotono> "That's a good idea. Something impressive too," Rubbing his chin as he nods to John, " Tindas suggested watch towers. Wants to build them amid the zygraat trees. He thinks he can train them to help watchers."
[18:27] <Feather> "Sounds good," Feather agrees.
[18:28] <@John> "What about a school for the kids?" John suggests. "Need a teacher, mind..."
[18:30] <@Kotono> "That's another good thought," Rashen says, "Something nice and out of the way." Hef inishes off his mushroom and takes out a carrot, starting on that. "But back to the trading post for a moment. I'm thinking maybe build it on top of the underground access and make it so those kobolds can come up too. Instant market for travelers. Get word out."
[18:31] <Feather> "Yeah. Was thinking the same thing myself. Make a room on the ground floor dim, too, maybe?"
[18:33] <@Kotono> "Yeah. If we do it, want ot make it impressive and get it done first," Rashen remarks, "So traders here faster. As for a school..." Rashen looks back over to John, "Got an idea for a teacher. Actually considered Myann a moment, but she'd probably teach them all about mushrooms. No offense," he says, glancing at Feather.
[18:34] <@John> "Plus she's gonna be away a lot on adventures, isn't she?"
[18:34] <@Kotono> "That too," Rashen agrees.
[18:36] <Feather> "Could have more than one teacher," Feather suggests.
[18:37] <@Kotono> "Could, could." Rashen agrees, "But the thing is, and going back again, is that the trading post should be impressive. Something to make it stand out and get attention."
[18:38] <Feather> "So you're saying we should go kill something impressive and bring the head back?"
[18:38] <@John> "Like put up a trophy or something above the door?" John asks. "Maybe if we kill something really big we can put a tooth or a bone up or something?"
[18:40] <@Kotono> "Not a bad idea. That or get the kobolds to get you enough stone to make it fancy. Good stone if you can get it." Rashen agrees.
[18:41] <Feather> "Could cover the stone part easily enough," Feather agrees with a nod. "Makes sense, too, since it'd need to keep the critters down below out if something happens."
[18:45] <@Kotono> "Yeah," Rashen says, "Don't need an answer right this second, but sooner than later."
[18:47] <Feather> "Hey, no worries! I'm sure something horrible'll show up before long! These woods are dangerous."
[18:50] <@Kotono> A snort follows, "What was with that tree thing a week ago?" he asks.
[18:50] * Feather grimaces. "Yeah we're not putting that on top."
[18:51] <@John> "Remember that guy who sent the wyverns here? His rat familiar showed up for revenge... except it wasn't really a familiar it was his wife?" John just shakes his head in dismay. "S'all rotted and burnt up anyway."
[18:53] <@Kotono> "That's odder than usual. How the hell does that work?" Rashen says slowly, "Familiars are little animals that...EW!" He makes a face, reaching in for an apple before dropping it. "EW, that sick bastard!"
[18:55] <@John> "Well it turned into a woman when it died. Ugly but still... figure she got polymorphed or something like that?" John suggests before sternly adding, "Don't wanna know if they kept things up while she was a rat though."
[18:55] * Feather doesn't really have much to say to that and takes a good sip of ale.
[18:55] <@Kotono> Rashen gestures for his owna nd downs it in one gulp, "Right," he says breathlessly after, "So stone or a fearsome creature or something. GEt on that."
[18:58] <@John> "Don't hear much talk about what goes on in the rest of the woods, so we've really just got to wait for one to show up, don't we?"
[19:00] <@John> "There was that golem down below though, wasn't there?" John says, wondering if they could actually take it.
[19:01] <@Kotono> "We're isolated here," Rashen remarks, "Though a trading outpost will help with that."
[19:07] <Feather> "Maybe some magical glowing rocks, while we're at it?" Feather muses thoughtfully.

Ebiris

[18:12] <@Kotono> "It might be," Myann finally says, some thought in her voice. "Now do we go back or do we look around?"
[18:14] <Gildas> "Hm..." Gildas looks around and considers. "We may as well continue to look around and see if we can find any sign of life. I'd rather not have to leave and come back..."
[18:16] <@Kotono> "I'd rather find some way to get the others down with us," Myann admits, "Safety in numbers." But she follows along as...OOC: Any particular direction you're going in, or things you're looking for?
[18:17] <Gildas> OOC: Just away from where they came and anything besides "moss and trees and rocks."
[18:18] <Gildas> "We won't go too far." He says. "At the very least, perhaps we can bring something back with us."
[18:22] <@Kotono> roll 1d100
[18:22] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 72." [1d100=72]
[18:23] <@Kotono> roll 1d100
[18:23] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 30." [1d100=30]
[18:26] <@Kotono> The two wander ahead. After prehaps twenty minutes of walking, they come to a tree. Here crystalline fruits hang, red like rubies and faceted like cut gemstones. A breeze blows here, stirring the fruits. They jangle like crystal bells, a faint, constant chiming.
[18:27] <Gildas> Gildas takes a moment to see if the fruits are poisonous!
[18:30] <@Kotono> The fruits are not poisonous.
[18:30] <Gildas> "Perhaps this would be a good present." He says as he reaches up with his good hand to pluck a ruby fruit and then bite into it.
[18:32] <@Kotono> Myann follows suit once Gildas shows it can be bitten. It tastes like a sweet, syrupy apple. It's also hot, like it's fresh from the oven. The crystalline flesh dissolves into sweetness within your mouth.
[18:34] <Gildas> "You think there are any gemstone mushrooms down here?" He asks with a smile. He ponders for a moment after that. "I think we should take some back for the others, but perhaps just head back for now. We have no idea how far we have to travel."
[18:35] <@Kotono> This gets Myann to pause before shaking her head, "No. They don't have the same niche as them. They..." she pauses as the ground around you parts. Several dozen fire-red mushrooms sprout up around the two, burning bright. Flames dance atop their caps. "They are apparently eager, since they're babbling like excited puppies."
[18:37] <Gildas> Gildas blinks, then starts to laugh quietly. "Well, I was told that fire might be able to burn out the deadness of my arm... Do you think they could assist with that?"
[18:41] <@Kotono> Myann kneels, petting the mushrooms just like dogs. The flames don't seem to burn her hand in the least. "If you don't mind getting burned," she says, "We can try. I can ask them to burn as hotly as they can." The mushrooms wiggle as Myann touches them, a wry smile coming. "I suppose coming to visit after being in touch for so long has them acting like this. Or maybe I'm projecting onto them,
[18:41] <@Kotono> or it's some other Sidhe strangeness." Meanwhile the mushrooms gather together, forming a roaring flame.
[18:41] <Gildas> He nods and kneels down and turns his bad arm towards them. "It can't get much worse than it already is, can it?" Gildas says with a smile.
[18:42] <@Kotono> OOC: No fire res, just to be clear?
[18:42] <Gildas> OOC: Correct.
[18:44] <@Kotono> roll 4d6 fire damage and more
[18:45] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 4d6 fire damage and more and gets 13." [4d6=5, 4, 3, 1]
[18:45] <@Kotono> OW! FUCK! It hurts like hell! Your arm still feels dead, except for being burned but good.
[18:47] <@Kotono> Myann winces and looks away as Gildas's arm cooks, "Do you need a healing spell? Did it help?" She idly pats one of the mushrooms in the meantime.
[18:47] <Gildas> "If you don't mind... and no, it didn't seem to." He says, after a yelp and a sigh. "But they tried, at the very least."
[18:50] <@Kotono> roll 3d8+8 healing
[18:50] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 3d8+8 healing and gets 22." [3d8=7, 6, 1]
[18:51] <@Kotono> "It probably means we need stronger or more symbolic fire," Myann says, standing back up. "What exactly were the instructions?"
[18:53] <Gildas> He chuckles. "I was just told 'the right type of fire,' and something about a burning sea. So my assumption was we'd talk to someone here... and perhaps they might have an idea. I suppose, if this is all that troublesome, I could just ask Vasili... this sort of thing might be right up his alley."
[19:02] <@Kotono> "We can figure it out back in town," Myann remarks, "If we're done, let's go home." OOC: Ready to head back like you suggested?
[19:03] <Gildas> OOC: Yes. I'm going to collect some fruit to take back.
[19:03] <@Kotono> OOC: I'll integrate you into #evil shortly.

[18:12] <@Kotono> > Rashen gestures for his owna nd downs it in one gulp, "Right," he says breathlessly after, "So stone or a fearsome creature or something. GEt on that."
[18:12] <@Kotono> <John> "Don't hear much talk about what goes on in the rest of the woods, so we've really just got to wait for one to show up, don't we?"
[18:12] <@Kotono> <John> "There was that golem down below though, wasn't there?" John says, wondering if they could actually take it.
[18:12] <@Kotono> > "We're isolated here," Rashen remarks, "Though a trading outpost will help with that."
[18:12] <@Kotono> <Feather> "Maybe some magical glowing rocks, while we're at it?" Feather muses thoughtfully.
[18:15] <@Kotono> "Good idea," Rashen idly takes out a wrapped sandwich, starting on that. "So trading post to start with. Good ideas. Let me know about the stone as soon as possible and I'll get it started."
[18:17] <@John> "Hey, just had another idea," John says. "It'd be tricky, but since the forest means not much wind and there's no rivers nearby, you know how there's two lakes with water going up and down between them? Well, three lakes now... anyway, if we could dig down beside one of those streams we could put in a waterwhell for a mill, couldn't we?"
[18:22] <@Kotono> "Hmm..." Rashen considers, "I'd need to see it," he finally says, "Get me down there and I can tell you for sure. Magic's involved, isn't it?"
[18:23] <Feather> "You betcha!"
[18:29] <@Kotono> More drinking follows, a little reverie of rest. It's disrupted by Em coming in. "John, Feather," she calls. "Ma wants to see you two."
[18:30] <Feather> There was enough of resting, and Feather gets to his feet a bit shakily, until he finds his balance and nods firmly to himself. "Right then. Be seeing you, Rashen."
[18:31] <@Kotono> Rashen raises his mug up, draining it again as he mutters about familiars.
[18:32] <@John> "Yeah, see you later," John says, getting up. "She say what it was about?" he asks Em while heading over.
[18:34] <@Kotono> Em nods, "Yeah, it's something about Malaines. I think she wants to know if you're going by anytime soon."
[18:35] <@John> "There anything good there?" John asks. All he knows about it is there's a wizard Gildas really likes that lives there.
[18:37] <Feather> "The wizard?" Feather ventures. "Been meaning to go to him about that magical armor...."
[18:38] <@Kotono> "It's a nice place to visit. It's an elf settlement, closest one," Em explains as you walk. "We have some family there."
[18:38] <@John> "Yeah, figured," John says with a sigh. "Well anyway, lets go see your mum? Maybe she'll have some good ideas," he says to Em. Talking to her is actually a lot easier than he thought it would have been. Maybe it's because he has Missy-Anne now? Though he still can't deny liking Em...
[18:44] <@Kotono> The Missus is sitting in the kitchens, a stool supporting her as she lazily stirs a stew. She looks over as you come, none of the brood with her right now. "Thanks, Em," she says, "Go up and check on the babies for me," she says, Em grumbling but going to do just that.
[18:45] <@John> "Hullo," John greets her. "Needing some stuff from Malaines, then?"
[18:46] <Feather> "Or even just to send word?"
[18:46] <@Kotono> "Whenever you go next," she says, "It's not really a priority." Putting down the long ladle she's using to stir and standing, "Do you two want to stay for dinner, by the way? I'm making a lot if you're hungry."
[18:48] <@John> "Can't ever say no to free meal," John says amiably.
[18:48] <Feather> "Thanks for the invitation," Feather responds. "I reckon I would. Myann's off on her trip, so...."
[18:52] <@Kotono> "Sit on down a spell," she waves towards some dinner seats, "The babies are napping and the children are all off playing. For once." She says with a weary smile, sitting to join you. "You're right. It's some things I'd like and a few letters."
[18:53] <@John> "Well, it's not far and there isn't much work needing done, so we can probably make the trip even if we don't have anything else going on there," John says as he sits down, happy to help.
[18:53] <Feather> "We sending anything over to Malaines, too?" Feather inquires, taking a seat.
[18:59] <@Kotono> "One of the letters is about that," The Missus says, "I've written the city's mayor - Hylath's father - about that. Get some more trading going."
[19:00] <Feather> "Speaking of him, figure he'd wanna go along too. See the old home, meet a few friends and share a story or two?"
[19:01] <@Kotono> "Probably," The Missus relaxes back, "It should be a nice spring trip."
[19:03] <@Kotono> As the three chat, the conversation is interrupted. Gildas and Myann walk in. They're a bit rustled and rumbled, travel staind and still dripping wet from a spring dip.
[19:04] <Feather> "Hey, welcome back!"
[19:05] <Gildas> Gildas nods and waves with his good arm, the other still notably not fixed. "You probably won't really believe us, but I brought some souvenirs." He reaches into his pack and takes out two of the ruby-looking fruits for the others. "I thought you might enjoy them. Actually, we might be able to try and grow them here... I didn't check them for seeds, but..."
[19:06] <Feather> "You eat that?"
[19:07] <Gildas> "It's delicious, I promise." He says with a nod to Myann.
[19:07] <@John> "Looks like you'd break a tooth on it," John says dubiously.
[19:08] <Feather> "Guess it could be magic?" Feather muses.
[19:08] <@Kotono> "It was pretty good," Myann admits.
[19:08] * Feather snorts, before waving at Gildas. "Sure, I'll give it a try. Toss one over?"
[19:09] <Gildas> He does so. "If we go back... we'll probably need to do some more preparatory work. The air to get down is very thin... and there's no easy way for you to get down without flying."
[19:09] <Gildas> He throws the other to John, not wanting to leave him out of the fun of eating gemstones.
[19:10] <@John> Catching it, John gives the thing a very careful bite.
[19:10] <@Kotono> The fruit is harder, like brittle glass that slowly dissolves into a cold, syrupy sludge in FEather's mouth. It's not bad, but very sweet more than anything else. Like baked apples that got left in the pan all night.
[19:10] <Feather> "Probably should've waited until after dinner," Feather laments. "Ah well. Not bad, not bad at all!"
[19:11] * @John smacks his lips afterwards. "Be better if it was heated up, I reckon."
[19:12] <@Kotono> The Missus watches this curiously, as Myann goes to sit. "It's an entirely different world down there. Maybe another kingdom as they stranger creatures reckon it."
[19:12] <Gildas> "I'll see what I can manage to try and grow one here." He says. "I should have taken some of the moss, too... Ah well, another time."
[19:14] <Gildas> He nods. "We'll have to think of what to do to get the others down there... I really have no idea. I don't want you all to try and scale down the side of the rocks."

[17:30] <@Kotono> John, Feather, Gildas, Myann and Hylath set off for Malaines. It's a warm day, hints of summer in the air. Beautiful traveling weather as...(More)

[17:34] <@Kotono> It's the afternoon of the second day of travel. You're passing through the thicker woods, Hylath singing a song to keep your spirits up. He just happens to finish this one on a high note, a look heavenword as he does. This look turns into a yelp of alarm, "Slime!" he cries.
[17:35] * Feather leaps back and looks over at Myann worriedly!
[17:35] * @John dives for cover! Or rather, dives anywhere that isn't covered. By slime. Or branches that can contain slime.
[17:37] <Gildas> Gildas glances up and will move back away from the slime if it's another one of those types that wants to drop on everyone.
[17:37] <@Kotono> Myann leaps back at the same time, drawing her blade. With the party fleeing, they all manage to avoid what falls. A massive torrent of slime, coming together to form a large, oozy pile of green muck. Leaves and branches are stuck in it, several of them slowly dissolving before your eyes.  OOC: Init. You're all 10ft from the slime in various directions, since you all scattered back.

[17:39] * Kotono changes topic to 'John=Feather(15)>Hylath(14)>Gildas(13)>Slimey(9)>Myann(3)'
[17:39] <@Kotono> OOC: John and Feather, the two of you open.
[17:39] <@John> Now that he's not in danger of having it fall on his head, John moves closer to give the horrible thing a good whack!
[17:39] <@Kotono> "Another one of these," Myann grumbles, "Damned pests!"
[17:39] <@John> roll 1d20+16
[17:39] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20+16 and gets 25." [1d20=9]

[17:41] <@Kotono> John runs ina nd smashes it good. The slime ripples around the blow, jiggling like jelly in the aftermath. OOC: Feather.
[17:41] * Feather backs away to a safer distance.
[17:43] <@Kotono> Hylath does the same, starting to sing, "This is how we do it! This is how it's done! It is done for victory!" OOC: Inspire courage. +2 morale attack rolls, weapon damage rolls and saves vs fear. Gidlas.
[17:44] <Gildas> Gildas takes a breath and shapeshifts into his Dire Bear form and moves in try and smash the slime with his good paw!

[17:49] <@Kotono> The elementally infused claw slams good into the slime. It wriggles even more, vibrating all over from the blow. Bits of slime take on odd, bulging shapes around its body as it coils up. With Gildas and John attacking it head on, tendrils go for both of them!
[17:49] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+11 AC? John

[17:50] <@John> OOC: 23
[17:51] <@Kotono> But both are deftly parried as Myann chants. A block appears from above, angling to slam down right atop the bashed-up slime.
[17:51] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+10 touch AC
[17:51] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+10 touch AC and gets 11." [1d20=1]
[17:52] <@Kotono> But the block misses by an inch, slamming down closer to John than the slime. "Sorry!" Myann calls a second later. OOC: John.
[17:53] <@John> "S'alright, we've got this," John calls back, shifting around a bit so he's opposite Gildas on the other side of the slime before he attacks once more with both ends of the staff!

[17:55] <@Kotono> The flurry of strikes slams the slime all over. Its broken apart and loses coherency under the through clubbing, dissolving into little more than a foul muck. Got it! OOC: Free act.
[17:56] <@Kotono> Wrinkling her nose in disgust and sheathing her blade, "That was a bad way to ruin a perfectly good afternoon."
[17:56] <@Kotono> OOC: Gah.
[17:56] <@Kotono> Wrinkling her nose in disgust and sheathing her blade, "That was a bad way to ruin a perfectly good afternoon." Myann remarks, "Sorry about that. I really botched the aim, I almost hit you instead of the slime."
[17:56] <Gildas> "I feel like we run into those things with greater frequency." Gildas says with a frown. There's no such thing as a slimemancer, is there?
[17:56] <@John> "Can't really stick one of those above a trading post, no," John says, stepping back. "Anyway, s'okay Myann, I had plenty of room."
[17:57] <Feather> "No harm, no foul," Feather tells Myann, who actually got to do something.
[17:59] <@Kotono> "There's not much a song to come out of that," Hylath adds, "But still, onwards and upwards?"
[18:00] <@John> "Yeah, lets get going."
[18:00] <@Kotono> OOC: Ready to move along after you crunked that up good?
[18:01] <Gildas> OOC: Sho nuff
[18:02] <@Kotono> roll 1d100
[18:02] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 90." [1d100=90]
[18:02] <@Kotono> roll 1d100
[18:02] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 66." [1d100=66]
[18:03] <@Kotono> The rest of the trip is uneventful. There's a nasty cut Myann gets from a misjudged branch, but it's nothing a healing spell doesn't fix up. Oh, and some stomach sickness that passes through, but again, magic helps blunt that right away. The party reaches Malaines a few hours before noon. The town's silent - and ahead, in the rough center of town, the elves are gathered.
[18:04] * Feather perks up! Past experience has taught him this likely means tthere is a monster here to kill!
[18:04] <@John> "Someone putting on a show?" John wonders, heading over.
[18:04] <Gildas> Gildas tilts his head but says nothing as they enter the town.
[18:07] <@Kotono> "That's unusual," Hylath adds as he follows along. "We don't gather like that unless it's serious."
[18:08] <@John> "Oh," John's face falls. "Someone in trouble then?"
[18:08] <@Kotono> The party heads on over. Conversation dies down as the party approaches. Hylath's father stands amid them, "My son," he announces, "Humanfriends and friends. Dire tidings have come to pass."
[18:10] <@John> What luck to have a band of adventurers show up right when dire tidings pass, right? "What's happened?" John asks.
[18:12] <@Kotono> "In the west, our homelands...war." Is the announcement. Shoulders sag that, "Civil war, as if a tempest that came from a clear, still blue sky. Several powerful nobles have risen up. Word is that refugees are fleeing to the east - and perhaps as far as the Vastwoods."
[18:13] <@Kotono> Myann's lips twist into a grimace, "A civil war amid our k-, I mean, the elves?"
[18:14] * Feather blinks, having thought the elves of Malaines to be locals to the Vastwoods. "How big's the chance it'll try to come all the way over here?"
[18:14] <@John> "Oh, that's not good." And not anything adventurers can help with either.
[18:15] <Gildas> Gildas frowns. First the kobolds, now the elves?
[18:16] <@Kotono> Hylath's face grows pale, "That's truly horrible," he says softly.
[18:16] <@Kotono> "It probably won't reach this far. This is a frontier land," Hylath's father explains solemnly, "But I'm certain refugees will come. There's word that the rebels have put villages to the sword and torch."
[18:18] <@John> "Well, we're doing pretty well, and after the next harvest we'll be doing really well, so if you lot need any help..." John offers, pretty sure it won't strain their own village unless they get a massive population boost themselves.
[18:18] <@Kotono> At this he nods, "Humanfriends, let us retire and talk about this," he suggests pointedly.
[18:18] <Feather> "Yeah, we could help take in refugees-- oh, of course."
[18:20] <@John> "Sure, lead the way?"
[18:24] <@Kotono> You are lead inside to a familiar abode. It's like an oversized cabin, full of wood carvings and decorations. A simple room with ornately carved chairs is where you go. Each backrest is carved into different things. One a dragon, one a winged female, a third a boar and a fourth a falcon. Beyond that there are carvings of elves at work and play hanging on the walls. A maid swiftly brings bowls
[18:24] <@Kotono> of water and piles of violets. Myann smiles as she goes to the flowers, "I know Gildas and Feather didn't have any sisters. John, did you ever have a sister that liked to make flower garlands?"
[18:24] <@Kotono> Meanwhile Hylath and father settle in, briefly talking to one another in muted tones.
[18:26] <Gildas> Gildas smiles. "Ah yes, I remember this..." He frowns. "Is it against the rules to have you assist with this?" He looks over at Myann.
[18:26] <@John> "Oh, loads of sisters. Yeah, they all love that kind of stuff," John says his tone a mixture of fond remembrance and utter bafflement.
[18:26] * Feather recalls that there was some weird ceremony with water and flowers, but just decides to follow Myann's lead rather than try to recall all the intricacies. "So do our elf friends," he adds.
[18:27] <@Kotono> "Then you should know how to do this," Myann says, "Give me a hand braiding these flowers together."
[18:28] <@John> "Alright... seen it done often enough I can probably manage," John says still a bit uncertainly as he gets to work.
[18:30] <@Kotono> Soon enough flowers and water are done. Adorned with flowers and fresher than before, the party settles in. "Humanfriends and friends," he begins, "I have heard stories in the recent months of your farm's great prosperty and growth into a village."
[18:34] <Gildas> He nods to the mayor's words, not one for diplomatic affairs.
[18:34] <@John> "Yeah, seemed to be a lot of people moving in at the same time I did, sounds like," John agrees.
[18:34] <@Kotono> "We've been blessed by nature," Myann replies, "In fact, we came in part to talk about trade. We're establishing a trading post."
[18:35] <Feather> "That, and we're slowly expanding now that winter and planting season's all over."
[18:35] <@John> "And just to do some errands."
[18:42] <@Kotono> "That's well timed," Hisel remarks, "Very well timed. What is your trading house interested in?"
[18:45] <@John> That's a question isn't it? They're pretty self sufficient, and the kobolds are good for any kind of metalwork. "Uh... woodcraft? Oh, clothes! Yeah, we don't have a tailor, do we?"
[18:45] <Gildas> He blinks. He hadn't even thought about any of that. "I'm working on a collection of books for a library there... But that may be beyond the scope of this discussion."
[18:46] <Feather> "We've been relying on the kobolds to make jewelry or for the metalworks," Feather muses. "But more variety helps, I reckon."
[18:47] * Feather blinks. "Oh, and shiny things will go over really well with them!"
[18:48] <@Kotono> "Trading for extra food's the short term goal," Hisel agrees, "We'll send traders in the late summer. Wood, clothes, books and 'shiny things'." The last is said with just the faintest hint of sarcasm.
[18:48] * Feather shrugs. "They can't help it. Doesn't matter to them if it's gold or fool's gold, so long as it's nice and shiny."
[18:51] <Gildas> "Feather is right about what he said earlier, if the refugees do come here and you're not able... I'm sure we can do something." He adds.
[18:53] <@Kotono> "There's no use pretending that we're above the civil war," Myann admits, but in a slightly less kind tone, "With all respect, I'm surprised you mentioned it to us like this."
[18:55] <@Kotono> "We'll work out the exact thigns to trade," Hisel agrees, "So as long as it looks shiny, as a child is attracted to shiny things?" Myann's words draw him up short, "There's little point hiding something when you want a favor caused by it. Your town...does it have a name? Regardless, your town is as much elven as human."
[18:55] <Gildas> "I hope it doesn't come to it, but we'd never let harm come to this place from outside forces." He says.
[18:55] <@Kotono> Hylath, quiet for most of this, "Besides, heroes help the less fortunate, and we're heroes." Hylath says, as if it explains it all.
[18:56] <@John> "Never actually heard a name for it, come to mention it..." John admits. They should name it after Robert's wife, that sounds fair.
[18:56] <Feather> "Exactly like that. Good example." Feather nods. "As for the war... well, it's like we said from the start. We're here, we're neighbours, and we'd help out refugees even if we weren't."
[18:56] <@Kotono> "We've just been calling it the town, or the farmstead...or maybe the Holset Farmstead, sometimes," she admits, "You know, I don't think we've chosen an official name."
[18:59] <@Kotono> Hisel nods slightly, "You're good neighbors, humanfriends."
[19:07] <@Kotono> From there, finding the Magus is simple enough. In particular, you find him as you walk through the streets of Malaines. He seems to come out of nowhere, breath heard just behind Gildas a moment before he softly says, "Hi, friends."
[19:09] <@John> "Hullo," John says, not a friend since they've never met. But that can be fixed! "I'm John. Nice to meet you."
[19:10] <@Kotono> The Magus turns to look to John. The figure before you is tall for an elf. Hell, he's tall for anyone. He's over 7 feet tall and solidly built, more like a human in build than an elf. His ears point back farther than a typical elf's. His eyes are covered with poison-ivy leaves, the roots wrapping around the back of his head to form a strange blindfold. His face is clean shaven and he is
[19:10] <@Kotono> expressionless. He wears robes of white heavily stained green. Strings of grassy-green flowers are strung through and in his robes. In one hand is a walking staff, with the silver-cast head of an elf atop it. Oddly enough, he's also barefoot. "Hi," he says, soft spoken.
[19:10] <@Kotono> Myann steps back and nods politely.
[19:12] <Gildas> Gildas nods to John. "I was hoping you might be able to give me a clue about this..." He offers his arm as evidence. "We've been told to go to the sea of fire beneath the world to find an answer... some fire to burn out the deadness in the arm. If we're going to go there... we have no way to get these two down." He gestures at John and Feather with his good arm. "Do you have any idea about what
[19:12] <Gildas> we might be able to do... either about the arm, or... about the trip down?" He asks, hopefully.
[19:12] <@John> It's not often he meets someone taller than he is! Still, he seems a nice sort, so John smiles while Gildas talks business.
[19:16] <@Kotono> Slowly the Magus tilts his head to the side, studying Gildas's arm. Very quietly he says, "That explains the sad dryads. A home for them was burned down. Yes, you'd be best to finish the burning. Dryads are persistent. Or put the mushrooms in it. They're so talkative these days."
[19:18] <Gildas> He blinks and looks over at Myann. "What kind of mushrooms?" He looks back to the Magus.
[19:18] <@Kotono> Myann crosses her arms, looking entirely less than amused. "If a dryad does that, I'll make my displeasure personally known. Gildas's arm is not the home for needy Sidhe."
[19:19] <@John> "Have to be a pretty small dryad, wouldn't it?"
[19:21] <@Kotono> "The fire mushrooms," The Magus says after straightening up. "They would be best at taking over. The mushrooms won't stop talking about you." Myann gets a look, "They'd be happy to do it." A beat after, "There are small dryads for small trees and large dryads for large trees."
[19:21] <@John> "Huh. Makes sense when you think about it," John concedes.
[19:22] <Gildas> He nods. "All right, then. I'll bring you some seeds from the fruit we found down below once my arm is healed as thanks for your help." He smiles.
[19:22] <@Kotono> "I think the point of the exercise is to get Gildas his arm backa s it was - normal. Emphasis on normal. Not half-tree or a dryad home or a new mushroom house," Myann closes her eyes and sighs, "Speaking of something else, the Emperor's armor. We have the gems for it now."
[19:24] <Gildas> "Well, it might be that we have to use the mushrooms to push out the dryads... if you will. In a sense, it does make sense." Gildas says to Myann. "But we can discuss it back home and figure something out. I am not worried."
[19:26] <Gildas> He nods afterwards to Myann. "Oh, yes, we did find the gems."
[19:26] <@Kotono> OOC: Quick question, who has the gems in inventory?
[19:27] <Gildas> OOC: I do, since they're all in the magical thing that holds stuff.
[19:27] <Gildas> OOC: Backpack... bag... I think it's backpack.
[19:28] <@Kotono> "Give them to me. The armor can be done soon," The Magus says.
[19:31] <Gildas> Gildas nods and withdraws the topaz and the adamantium and hands it over!
[19:31] <@Kotono> OOC: Post the loss in the loot thread.
[19:31] <Gildas> ooC: Roger.
[19:35] <@Kotono> OOC: Doing anything but waiting ofr the armor to be finished?
[19:36] <Feather> OOC: Let's ask if anyone heard about awesome monsters of legend!
[19:36] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay. Make a gather information check...which is diplo in this, isn't it?
[19:37] <Feather> roll 1d20 yes I have none
[19:37] * Hatbot --> "Feather rolls 1d20 yes I have none and gets 4." [1d20=4]
[19:37] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+3 Myann aids
[19:37] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+3 Myann aids and gets 10." [1d20=7]
[19:37] <@Kotono> roll 1d20+3 Hylath'll aid too, since why not?
[19:37] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+3 Hylath'll aid too, since why not? and gets 9." [1d20=6]
[19:37] <@Kotono> OOC: Anyone else going to try anything along these lines?
[19:38] <Gildas> OOC: Sure, why not.
[19:38] <Gildas> roll 1d20+2 we're not a very diplomatic group
[19:38] * Hatbot --> "Gildas rolls 1d20+2 we're not a very diplomatic group and gets 15." [1d20=13]
[19:38] <@John> roll 1d20 I'll try and aid
[19:38] * Hatbot --> "John rolls 1d20 I'll try and aid and gets 16." [1d20=16]
[19:39] <@Kotono> At first there's little progress. Talk of the war overshadows everything else. Eventually, one evening, the party is sharing a table with a female elf. "You know, I did hear and see one thing," she adds. "It was the strangest thing, though.
[19:39] <@Kotono> "
[19:40] <Gildas> Gildas just stays quiet to listen!
[19:40] <@Kotono> "It was...a flying mushroom," she says,
[19:40] <@Kotono> OOC: Gahj.
[19:41] <@Kotono> "It was...a flying mushroom," she says, "With a tail. It was flying along a few nights ago."
[19:41] <@John> "A tail?"
[19:41] <@Kotono> Myann reddens and quietly sighs, rubbing her forehead.
[19:41] <@Kotono> "A tail. I don't understand it, either," she adds.
[19:41] <@Kotono> OOC: Gah.
[19:41] <@Kotono> "A tail. I don't understand it, either," Myann adds.
[19:42] <Gildas> "How interesting. We'll have to keep an eye out for that." Gildas says with a small smile.
[19:43] <@Kotono> "You may just find one soon," Myann mutters, "Thank you." Once the elf is gone, she adds, "It's a spell I'm working on, alright? A spell to allow flight." Her face is red and her voice sounds positively mortified.
[19:43] <Feather> "Why the tail? Why not wings?"
[19:44] <@Kotono> "I don't know," Myann sounds a bit peevish, "It's just the way the mushroom works. It's the same category as those coins - strange Sidhe shit." The last word segues into an embarrassed blush once more.
[19:45] <Gildas> Gildas blinks... then nods to her. "Yes, I've heard of something like that. I can only muster it on myself, though."
[19:45] <Gildas> He adds after that, "Not that I need to..."
[19:45] <Feather> "So if you made one for swimming...?"
[19:46] <@Kotono> "I'm getting close to having the spell done...and a frog mushroom. No, I don't know why either," she says, sounding exasperated. "Yes, there are frog mushrooms. Literal mushroom sthat croak like frogs and have sticky tongues. They're dangerous since they feed on swamp travelers."
[19:47] <@John> "Never knew there were so many kinds of mushrooms in the world..." John says, trying to picture a frog-mushroom in his head.
[19:48] <@Kotono> "They're greenish and grow with normal swamp flora," Myann explains, "The cap opens up a mouth full of teeth and tongue. They're carnivores."
[19:48] * Quits: Gildas (~rscuderi@rrcs-24-227-47-10.se.biz.rr.com) (Ping timeout)
[19:50] <@John> "Do they hop around too?"
[19:50] * Joins: Nephrite (~rscuderi@rrcs-24-227-47-10.se.biz.rr.com)
[19:50] * Nephrite is now known as Gildas
[19:50] <@Kotono> "No," Myann says, "They're not equipped for it.:
[19:52] <Gildas> Gildas blinks, then speaks up. "I wonder if that ring that turns you into a slime would work. I'll have to test it and see."
[19:52] <@Kotono> After a beat, "This spell will be a little different. I'm trying to shape it to be long-lasting rather than protective. The fact that two of us can fly while two of us can't is a problem. If I can master this spell, it'll be better than us trying to concoct some other way of getting down that shaft."
[19:54] <@Kotono> The next day, you meet the Magus in your inn room. Before you is the Emperor's armor - restored! It glitters and glistens, full of light. "Here..." he begins, as he explains the armor. OOC: Loot post.
[19:56] <Feather> "Nice!" Feather whistles, thinking this falls firmly into the great but impractical side of legendary armors. "Good work!"
[19:58] <@John> "Yeah, s'a pretty impressive suit, isn't it?" John says, admiring the shinies as a kobold would since he knows next to nothing about armour.
[19:58] <@Kotono> Myann looks it over, "It is nice," she seconds, "Thank you."
[20:01] <@Kotono> OOC: Okay, do y'all have any more plans in town?
[20:01] <Gildas> OOC: Nope
[20:02] <@Kotono> roll 3#1d100
[20:02] * Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 3#1d100 and gets 117." [3#1d100 = 21, 75, 21]
[20:03] <@Kotono> The trip back is uneventful. Soon enough it's late spring and you return home. Town is before you....Myann stretches as you walk back. "You know," she says lightly, "We should do something about naming this town. Any suggestions?"
[20:04] <Feather> "Shouldn't Robert and his wife have the honor?" Feather asks her.
[20:05] <@John> "Yeah, they founded it so they should get to name it. Or have it named after them," John agrees.
[20:07] <@Kotono> "Robertsville or..." Myann chuckles, shaking her head. "We should ask them."
[20:08] <@Kotono> Finding the two isn't hard. Getting them away from the brood is moreso, but eventually everyone settles into the kitchen. Over leftover chicken and vegetables, "Naming the town?" Robert says. "You know, I was just calling it Holset in my head, after the farmstead."
[20:09] * Feather glances over at the Missus.
[20:10] <@Kotono> "That's fine with me," she says, "It's home in my head and heart, a name won't change that."
[20:12] <@John> "That's that then."
