[20:10] <Lucy> "What do you remember before getting here?" Lucy asks the scorpion. She clearly came up with a way to test one of her theories about summoning spells, even if it is a diversion from her current task.
[20:12] <@Kotono> Unfortunately, being a scorpion, it seems unable to answer the question.
[20:12] <@Kotono> Since, you know, no mouth or anything like that.
[20:13] <Lucy> Not to be deterred, Lucy asks with her powerful and adorable mind!
[20:15] <@Kotono> Nothing. It's a blank mind. While not mindless, it only has base instincts and barely any knowledge of language. It reminds you of a newborn baby's mind more than anything, only less reactive. OOC: Int 3 and no natural language is still an issue ,admittedly.
[20:15] * Lucy purses her lips, and orders it to follow her as she seeks out Kamhoff.
[20:17] <@Kotono> Lucy heads up the stairs. As you do, his cat yowls and hisses at the scorpion, who follows and ignores the cat. Kamhoff's on the deck, watching the glow as Bolethon steers the ship. He glances over, "Damn it, Lucy," he scowls, "Tell me before you summon scorpions!" He shudders, "Did I ever tell you about Palau Mul, the island of the 30 feet tall scorpions?"
[20:19] <Lucy> "No, Mister Kamhoff. And while it sounds quite fascinating, you asked me to talk to you another chance about a spell or magical effect that would increase one's sight to see through objects. I've been trying to work on that ever since experiencing that at Freeport, and now is a perfect chance to do so! In fact, how about joining me for my research into recreating the phenomenon?"
[20:21] <@Kotono> "Sure, why not?" Kamhoff shrugs, as the scorpion winks out of existence with a little POP. He glares at the vanished vermin, "I tell you, summon monster spells need to have longer durations. Well, besides the ones only lonely mages cast," he hums to himself, "So where are you testing them?"
[20:21] * Lucy scoffs. "I will have you know that my research is pure!"
[20:22] <@Kotono> "Right, right." Kamhoff says, as the two return to the empty cabin.
[20:23] <Lucy> "I have been toying with the idea of summoning someone to fight for me," Lucy muses. "It just feels right on so many levels, and I'm sure I knew the right spell before...." She shrugs. "It will come to me or I will reinvent it, I'm certain. Now then! Watch!" And after giving Kamhoff enough time to prepare, Lucy activates the rod again!

[20:29] <@Kotono> "Unique, alright." Kamhoff rubs his chin, "Ahem." He glances at Lucy's arms and then chin, before shrugging.
[20:30] <Lucy> "Did you manage to get the unique effect I would like to replicate?" Lucy asks eagerly.
[20:31] <@Kotono> "No such luck," Kamhoff says, "Never fucking mind, just an errant thought. Go on."?
[20:32] * Lucy nods in understanding. She's so irresistible to look at, of course, and then there is the admiration bordering on worship by the lesser people....

[20:34] <Lucy> "I already got this, how come it happened again," Lucy complains, disapointed. She tries to ask the beetle's mind directly if it remembers anything, since she might as well.
[20:36] <@Kotono> It's like the scorpion's mind, only a bit nicer. Same problems, same blankness, same relative stupidity.
[20:36] <Lucy> "Hmph. Well, one last try!" She gives the rod a twirl!
[20:36] <@Kotono> Kamhoff picks himself up and rubs his side, "Damned beetles! This reminds me of the island of Asysa, with the giant swarms of man-sized beetles!"

[20:38] <@Kotono> "OW! I'm on fucking FIRE!" Old Kamhoff cries, sounds of crashing followed by a door opening and slamming shut.
[20:39] <Lucy> "Does this mean I won't be hearing the story about the island of Asysa?" Lucy calls out after him, instructing the beetle to roll on the fire to put it out without damaging the floor.
[20:40] <@Kotono> Thumping on the ground, from beetle and from outside. Unfortunately, the ring of fire seems to have more life in it than the beetle - the screech of pain is followed by the beetle vanishing. Downside? You'r estuck in a wall of fire until the duration ends, whatever that is. Downside? You're here, and you're totally awesome and wonderful and oooh,  you have such lovely new hair!

[20:57] <Lucy> She really should be more careful with her precious blood. If only her beautiful mind did not demand the sacrifice-- Lucy resolves to be on the lookout for other suitable targets that could advance the cause of magical research, and gives the recharged rod a twirl!
