The blast is a massive wave, one Afina avoids. But instead of sailing away or dissolving, it curves back after about 30ft, starting to loop back around at you. Uh oh, it's still going.

Go Afina. That spell doesn't seem to be giving up.

There's no reason to say she'll have a harder time dodging it the second time. Launching a ball of flame at the marilith she then flies in for another pair of stabs, stopping a mere twenty feet away from her foe. If that green thing comes back to blow up on her it might catch its originator as well!

The ball of fire flies true, yet the marilith lashes out with a blade. It deflects the orb spell like an arrow, sending it right back at Afina.

Afina's eyes widen at the reversal, catching her genuinely off guard. For once she can't even move a muscle, but in that is her salvation. She vibrates under the power of haste, enough to subtly move her about. A strike to her head becomes a narrow miss instead, a perfectly lucky movement saving her. She then manages to swoop in, stabbing the snake demon twice. Neither are serious wounds, more long scrapes that stubbornly continue to bleed.

As you position away from her, the green blast continues its path, going right for Afina.

Afina dodges to the side, avoiding the blast - and it goes right at the marilith, who scrambles to dodge as well.

"Aaaah!" The marilith throws herself upward, dodging the blast as it slowly loops around and homes in on Afina again, "You little pest," it snarls, before charging her head on.

But Afina's too fast, twin blades hacking through the air where Afina was rather than where she is. But suddenly she's studying Afina with sharp eyes, seeming to completely analyze her.

Afina feels analyzed, studied and understood. It's like every movement of hers is glared at and noted, the marilith beginning to smirk.

So ray spells are out, and so are area effects... this marilith is surprisingly tricky! Even if she's sure balors are meant to be more powerful, she might not have been idly boasting... then again her swordsmanship isn't a patch on Hupan's. Since none of her spells are greatly effective on the offence here, she relies purely on her own swordsmanship as she blitzes past Zina, skewering her waist where scales meet skin before she's away another three hundred and ten feet, putting the maximum distance she can between them.

Afina manages two hits, stabbing into the demon's middle and tail. Blood leaks from the wounds, the creature snarling as you notice her injuries are ever so slowly healing. As you get in position, the green energy follows, again coming for Afina.
