Anastasia

Very good. What's your move after all of that?

Since it seems like I've raised something's ire or attention somehow, let's just scrap the rest of the trip in Limbo for now. Moore can consult with Tepen or someone back at Aurora on finding the person, maybe ask Tannin instead if they're being magically protected from scrying.

Anastasia

Done.

Your trip back to Aurora is uneventful. Moonlight goes off to do her own thing while you go to catch Tepen. You find him in the courtyard, watching Aurora's various forces practice.

Go ahead.

"Elder Magi." Moore greets him. "I have a question regarding scrying protections, if you have some time."

Anastasia

"I do," Tepen says, walking away. Once you're away from the noise, "They are?"

"I was trying to locate an individual with some scrying and divinations." Moore explains. "I know they're in Limbo, which I realize presents its own set of challenges. However, when I tried to be more specific about -where- in Limbo, I felt... a haziness, I suppose. I know it's either an area of Limbo that isn't conducive to divinations, but... to me, that seems unlikely. I suppose it's possible this person knows, but I wouldn't really think that'd be a reliable hope to pin yourself on. Going beyond that, I think it's either some spell or magic to prevent divination attempts against the individual, or someone powerful protecting them." Moore explains.

"The individual went by the name Alurae and betrayed someone named Mill who was a follower of Waukeen. We're investigating it as a condition of one of the guardians of Brightwater to bring aid to Aurora. Moonlight and I went to Limbo to look for her, found... well, a strange church that githzerai were using. To make a long story short, we had to give them a fiery sendoff as the slaad had invaded the place. But while we were there, there were two times I felt... very dizzy. I don't know what it was... but I think I caught someone's attention. Ah... sorry, that's a bit of a rambling story, but I thought it was important to mention anyway." Moore says with a sheepish smile.

Anastasia

Tepen takes ten on an K:P check here for a total of 62.

"Before anything else, you're wrong on an important assumption. Limbo's chaotic nature makes scrying more difficult, and it can spontaneously manifest to redirect, blur or corrupt scryings. Of course, it may just as easily not interfere or make scryings easier. The greatest mistake you can make with Limbo is assuming something is unlikely or not a factor there, because it can be at any whim."

Tepen clears his throat after that, "That said, protective magic is more likely. What divinations did you emply to find her? It is possible she is employing some sort of counter measures, but if you went through Afina's new arch, then this Alurae is a foe of terrifying ability."

"Just the standard Divination spell. ...I really wish that was called something else, it can get confusing sometimes." Moore says with a bit of a smile. "I could try something stronger, but I wanted to get advice before I did anything else. What's odd, and may get more to your point about something I overlooked, the first Divination I did to tell me where we could find her was successful without any issues at all -- just when I was more specific, it didn't work."

Anastasia

"That is strange," Elder Magi Tepen remarks, strolling along. He looks up in contemplation, "Unless you had the unusual luck to catch her between protections."

Moore nods. "I suppose that's certainly possible. Considering it's Limbo, I wonder if 27 would have anything useful to tell me on the matter." Moore laughs at that after he says it. "Well, in his own way, anyway. I'm not sure how else to approach this other than maybe asking Tannin if he can do some digging for us. I almost wonder if non-magical means is the best way to go."

Anastasia

"It's worth consideration. Tannin's gifted at his profession," Tepen says.

Moore nods. "Thank you, Elder Magi. Please let me know if I can be of any service to you in the future."

With that, Moore will call for Elena to ask where Tannin is!

Anastasia

"He's just gotten back," Elena says, directing you to the courtyard.

Tannin's there, all muddy, dirty and beaten up. Bloodstained too, but he waves it off, "It's the other guy's," he says as he strides through the courtyard, the hood of his outfit badly torn and hanging limply behind his head.

"Sounds like you either found who you were looking for or found someone who knew where to find them." Moore says with a bit of a smile. "I can wait until you ah... freshen up, if you'd like, I have a request for you."

Anastasia

"Yeah, I need to meet Jaela first anyway," Tannin says, "Just finished up a nip of business for her."
