"Almost like something replaced the information with something else?" Moore asks.

Anastasia

"I wouldn't go that far," Balyss admits, "The only reason I noticed is because I've cast the damn spell so much for everyone."

<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Nephrite

Moore scratches his head. "What do you think it meant?"

Any Knowledge or spellcraft checks that might be relevant?

Moore can think of a few possibilities.

Firstly, it could be a one off fluke. Spells are powerful but not always precisely consistent. Maybe local planar conditions, movements of the planes, free energy, what spells Balyss had active on her or a dozen other things could've caused a momentary delay.

Secondly, it could be her imagination or her expertise working against her. Perhaps she's so fine tuned to the spell that the slightest variance seems noteworthy to her, or a tiny thing is blown up by circumstances.

Thirdly, it could be enemy action. The sort of spell to not only stop a divination but intercept it and replace it could theoretically exist, but it's most likely epic magic. It's not impossible, but if it is, it's most likely someone powerful enough to cause problems. In that case, the simplest answer is getting the information face to face rather than relying on spells.

Fourthly, it could be the actions of greater unique entities or even a deity. In that case you're basically SOL without more information, since such entities rarely disclose what they can do. Such knowledge is a hodgepodge of observations and speculations, to this doesn't narrow it down beyond the though that it's really bad news, whatever it is.

Moore rubs his chin as he thinks of some possibilities. "Well, let's start with this: What did you ask and what was the answer?"

Anastasia

"I asked how how to treat what was wrong with you." Balyss says. "The answer was time."

Moore folds his arms and looks down. "Hm. I don't want to just go back without a reason, but... I think I should." He takes a breath and looks up. "I was just there recently, but if there's truly something wrong -- or if something is trying to somehow do something to me, then I should at least try and figure it out. If time is what I have to wait for, then that's fine, but... I think a trip to Celestia is probably in order." Moore says. "There are far too many things that it -could- be that are concerning."

Anastasia

"Alright then," Balyss says, "Good traveling. Take someone with you, just in case."

#505
Moore nods. "All right, I will."

While I'm sure Cresiel -would- go, he's going to ask Ebony if she's interested. The more I think about it the worse idea that probably becomes. He'll ask Cresiel first.

Anastasia

Sure.

Cresiel's found training, stopping when you explain what's going on. "Very well. Where in Celestia?"

Moore smiles at that. "I know better than to try and tell Celestia where I should go.  Considering the circumstances around this particular trip, it's probably best if I simply see where Erathaol will guide me."

Anastasia

"Then we should be off immediately," Cresiel agrees, wrapping up his training and going to get his gear.

Ready to hop along?

Yes, but as you can probably tell I'm spotty today. Feel free to prioritize other work.
