"Don't if at all possible," Jaela tells Hanna with a grin, before nodding at Mirajane. "I do wish you to. Standing out is even one of the reasons." She shakes her head ruefully. "I probably haven't explained enough of my fighting style to you so far, so you'll be learning by doing from now on."

[Anastasia]

"Yes, because producing another Jaela would be more than Creation can bear," Hanna smiles, as meanwhile Mirajane asks, "Lights, right?"

[Corwin]

"Go for forest green, it would be lovely with your hair," Jaela tells Mirajane happily, glancing speculatively at her mother. "Sure I can't convince you too? You did talk about helping me practice~"

Light appears and fizzles out, leaving Mirajane just as she is.

Hanna smiles again - this time it's predatory. "I'm fine. It's an advantage - a creature cares and is distracted or doesn't care and it doesn't matter."

Jaela pats Mirajane on the shoulder. "Do you understand a bit better now? Come on, let's get going. You'll just have to practice on the way."

Meanwhile, she tries to make herself more resistant to heat and fire, checking to see whether that would keep her icy holy symbol in action longer.

Resist Energy/Fire, which extends to my meager possessions as well.

[Anastasia]

I'll assume Mirajane gets it at some point, since she can keep trying until she succeeds. Imagine green censor bars where it matters and it's close enough.

Okay Afina, outline how you're going to follow the ritual.

We're going to travel for six hours. Once that's done and we're past any random encounters on the way, I'll fabricate up an altar for us to sing and dance around.

Afina woll come up with lyrics for our ice praising song while we walk and provide the lyrics in Aquan/Auran for team celestial to sing, drilling it in for them so they can memorise the sounds without knowing the language.

[Anastasia]

Wandering.

The snow falls eternally as you walk through it. Everything is white, blue and gray. Each breath you take leaves your entire body numb.

It also ends without difficulty, only the winds, ice and cold bothering you.

Go ahead y'all, set up the ritual.

The lack of hostile encounters at least gave Afina plenty of time to compose a song and then instruct everyone in the words as well as the dance steps involved, despite their lack of understanding the language.

Well, they have translation magic so they know what the words mean regardless, but knowing how to say them in Auran and Aquan is different than just speaking Celestial and trusting the magic to handle it for everyone else.

"Here will do," she says, coming to a stop on a windswept plane, snowflakes whirling this way and that with the chilled gales. It doesn't look any different than anywhere else, but by this point she believes they've proven their ability to endure the wilds of Ice well enough. Casting fabricate, she raises up a block of ice, four feet tall, six wide, and three long. The top is flat and bare, though Winter scenes are engraved around its sides, trees devoid of leaves on one, a might glacier on another, a frozen waterfall on the third, and a flurry of snowflakes on the last.

Taking 10 for 45 to make a nice altar

"Now, positions," she has everyone take places on each side of the altar, the dance she designed calling for them to move clockwise for three steps, anticlockwise for two, then clockwise for three repeating like that as they caper and wave their hands in the air. "Just follow my lead if you're unsure, excellence is not required but the smoother our performance the quicker we'll see a reaction." Waiting until she sees everyone is prepared, she starts to move while beginning the initial lyrics in Auran. "The snow glows white on the mountain tonight...~"

Song and dance follow over the ice.

Afina is skilled and deft, dancing and showing a fine singing voice. She leads all of you through it, never making a mistake.

Jaela's solidly competent, skilled but still behind Afina. She makes no mistakes and is steady, her voice joining the others beautifully.

Mirajane's voice is beautiful and she dances with passion, if not training. She joins her mother and sings her heart out, voice rising up into the gray sky.

Hanna's voice is lovely - what angel's isn't. But her dancing on ice and snow isn't so hot and she stumbles more than a few times. She keeps going with dogged determination, despite face plants in the snow and all sorts of awkward jiggling.

It takes about a half hour, but eventually the ground ahead cracks open, rising up to reveal a cave entrance.

They had to repeat their song a few times, but persistence pays off! "That's it!" she says, coming to a stop. "Good work everyone," she praises the group, even Hanna because that she's come this far with them despite her gracelessness is something that should be appreciated. "Ahead lies the path to Absolute Zero, and its guardians. I'd suggest everyone gird themselves before we descend."

Leading by example, she casts shield and greater heroism on herself before leading the way.
