As you look around, you hear a roar from above. The dragon's plunging down at you like a mountain thrown by a furious titan, wreathed in flames like before and coming right down at your wall of force. The two meet in a tremendous book that causes cracks of glowing light to travel all around it. Little flecks of it fall away, disintegrating as they're knocked loose by the sheer force of the blow.

One flaw with that - you don't have line of effect to the dragon. You put holes on the side of your wall set up and it came from above.  However, the sheer bulk of the dragon spills over enough to make winging it with it possible, along with hellball being a radius spread.

Yes though this takes time and study. Usually it doesn't matter, but this is the middle of combat.
