Well, there's good news. It normally loses potency away from the Styx. One reason why you don't usually see it as a weapon beyond its native habitat. Also why that defense in the Deep Ethereal was so unusual - someone went to a lot of trouble to fudge basic planar dynamics.

It can be purified completely, enough holy power will leave you about 1/3rd of the amount of Styx water in normal, drinkable water. It would still need to be purified for mundane contaminants, though many purification spells would cover that as well anyway.

Interestingly, the River Oceanus, while having useful bits for magic item creation, isn't as overtly magical as Styx-water. As it's the Heavenly counterpart to the Styx, that is unusual. You recall experiments to combine the two have been done. If the water's fresh enough, they generally cancel each other out entirely, as if disintegrated. Otherwise they just mix into a mildly unclean water.

Most means to neutralize it are air pockets, outright immunity to it or other tactics. Directly neutralizing it is possible, you've heard of a niche spell that might be able to do it, but you don't have it handy.
