<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Anastasia

#211
From the cracking sky it appears - a vast, five headed wyrm that blocks out the sky with its immense body. Five heads - white, red, blue, black and green, each roaring loud enough to crack the ground and shatter mountains.

Only Afina's magic saves her. Your shielded mind refuses to quail in horror at the impossible dragon that shadows an entire world. Its heads are rearing back, as if to breath down upon Lifasa itself.

Meanwhile, Jaela's heart quails. She knows this and this manifestation. Above Aurora is an avatar is Tiamat, the World Destroyer. A dragon so vast as to take a world in her talons and shred it as a cat may shred a mouse. This avatar is made for war against entire worlds and planes, a manifestation of Tiamat's power and hatred.

Chance to react, knowledge check or whatever. K:R, Afina.

'Be advised,' Jaela sends to all allied officers upon Lifasa, including Makaril in that tally. 'Tiamat has entered the fray.' The driest of mental tones should do for that announcement, she thinks.

"I think we can classify this as a priority target," Afina says, tensing as she looks up at the sky. 'Afina engaging, will rendezvous with Baleruk for the attack,' she broadcasts into the command telepathy network, hasting herself (and anyone nearby) before she zips out of Aurora and rushes towards the forces returning from the attack on the Aeropolis.

'I'm headed for the gates,' she sends privately for Afina, then, vacating her chair. Jaela repeats the same for the benefit of Vul'lath and Vivantha, gesturing for the latter to take the reigns. "Time to see how well your skills translate through Aurora's illusionary battlefield," she tells the lillend on her way to the portal.

Okay, locking this topic for now since you two are going into a new one.

Afina returns. Through the chaos of water and untouched, safe and with Tiamat gone. As she descends to Aurora, 'Well done.' Her voice. The Queen of Stars, speaking to her in her mind. 'Your bravery is without question and will be sung of in the Court. All of them.'

"Thank you, my Queen," Afina whispers as she flies, no one around her for now at least. It would've been nice if she'd gotten that spell off - it really would've been enough to scar even a god. But even then the imagery of a tiny pixie fearlessly closing to battle with the world-ending dragon is one she imagines would give heart to others.

Anastasia

You return to your post, Sylvie waiting for you. "You alright?" she asks, giving you a look over. "Jaela okay, too?"

"Jaela's fine, I mean look at that," Afina points up at the giant illusory Jaela in the sky. "I expended a lot of effort on my attack so I'll be weakened for a while and not at my best for the rest of the day. I can still fight though."

Anastasia

"Good. More's coming." Sylvie says, "Be ready for when it happens, alright? You're too close to victory to lose your life to him." Her expression is wistful, sad, "So don't. It's going to happen today, no matter what you try, short of fleeing the battle altogether or refusing to engage, and you won't do that."

"Pity then, I used up my best move on Tiamat," Afina says with a vexed look of adorable displeasure. "I have others but it won't be nearly so clean."

Anastasia

"Better than fighting Tiamat," Sylvie remarks coolly, then peers at you, enchanted glasses on the tip of her nose. "If you face anything like that again, bring me. 21 may be the only chance we have."

Afina wonders if those other deities would have intervened with the god-slaying weapon in the mix. Still, she nods to Sylvie. They have to work with their own resources.

As you stand guard, a silence falling between yourself and Sylvie?

'Good news,' Hanna says, 'We're isolating the remaining resistance. Barring an unholy miracle, the Fallen Throne is ours. We've also captured a devil who may behind the traps. I'd like to know how it made one capable of killing Moonlight. It is going to take some time to fully reduce the enemy forces within, but holding a cordon should not be overly difficult, as teleportation is locked and we have no plans on disabling that immediately. The main concern is rat holes and various escape paths, which we're seeing about dealing with.'
