It's your father you stumble on first.

Your father is already at work in a new forge, hammering away at an iron shovel. He pounds away at it, the heat of the forge radiating out. It's otherwise oddly quiet here save for the ring of his hammer, the local blacksmith watching, perhaps appraising.

Alyssa approaches the local Smith queitly.

"What do you think?"

[Anastasia]

Eyes widen at your appearance, but the tall, bearded man reaches up to rub his bald head and says, "He's skilled, ma'am."

[Iron Dragoon]

"How would you rate him compared to other smiths here?"

[Anastasia]

"He's better than most of us, ma'am," The blacksmith says quickly, "His technique is sound and he's still hale and hearty in his older age."

[Iron Dragoon]

"I was considering offering him a job. Maybe head blacksmith, but I wanted another opinion. Would you work under him?"

[Anastasia]

Keeping his voice down as the other smiths visibly split their attention between the two of you and your father, "I would, ma'am," he says immediately.

Alyssa nods. "You think the others would?"

[Anastasia]

"I'm sure they would, ma'am," The smith says quickly, getting more than a few long looks. "He's skilled enough and a strong man."

[Iron Dragoon]

Alyssa nods. "Thank you. Do you know who he is?"

[Anastasia]

The man's eyes widen, his cheeks coloring red. "Oh, just a new smith," he says, voice forced.

"Ma'am," Another one says, a dwarf with a sour look and black beard singed in places, "He's full of land shark shit. Walt introduced himself when he came here."

"I figured he would. He's worked as a lord's personal smith for my entire life, so he's got good manners."

She turns towards the dwarf, "Since I can't trust his opinion, what do you think? Would you work for him? Does he have the skill to justify that?"
