Family Reunion

[Anastasia]

"I...do not object to her," Yorel finally says, "But I think I speak for many that we are wary of her and her power. She wields magic without appreciating it. Power is her nature, while we struggle and strain for it. She's called a princess because that's exactly what she is. She has it because of her parents at the top, not because she's struggled for it like us."

[Iron Dragoon]

Alyssa raises an eyebrow.

"Much like a Lord's son doesn't work for his money? I understand your point, but consider this: a sorcerer casts differently than a wizard who casts the same spell differently than a druid. What could her nature and her relationship to magic teach us? If she doesn't understand the impact of what she can do... Teach her. We all have had students. Not one of us has learned a secret technique that teaches them understanding without interaction."

[Anastasia]

"I have," Delan interjects, "It's called finding better apprentices."

That draws a chuckle or two, "Still," Ule speaks up, closing his eyes, "It can be overwhelming."

[Iron Dragoon]

Alyssa slams a hand down on the table in front of her.

"Overwhelming? Overwhelming?! You are Regents of the Arcane Order of Arythma! You are here to unravel the secrets of magic! To discover and research and create wonders to delight Mystra! And you waver over speaking to a woman! You dream of secrets whispered to you by Mystra in reward, and you make excuses about talking to an Outsider. A Spirit! Some of you make deals with outsiders! Summon them! You are among the most powerful and experienced and knowledgeable mages of this world. Act it!"

[Anastasia]

That gets silence and some stiffening of the ol' spines, a chorus of agreement at that outburst.

[Iron Dragoon]

"This is a monumental chance for us. For our Order. Do not let it slip away because of your indecisiveness. If you can't help but waver and moan, then stand aside. You have a chance to teach a being who might one day become a God. With two parents that are Gods, I can't imagine the possibility of it hasn't occurred to Emily yet. Don't pander to her, but if you can't bring yourself to befriend and educate her, then at the very least, stand aside for those who can and will."

[Anastasia]

At that there is no further discussion and...

Anything to add to that?

[Iron Dragoon]

Not really. I think I did well enough there.

[Anastasia]

Great. Off to see Emily, then?

[Iron Dragoon]

Yeah. Time to arrange a meeting with Morwel and do the research on Melwether's thing.

[Anastasia]

You find Emily outside with Ianvasah. Emily stands nearby, a hand to her mouth as Ianvasah floats there, flickering and shifting. Tears gently trickle down her cheeks, "It's so beautiful," she murmurs. "It all makes sense now!"

[Iron Dragoon]

"Discussing secrets of the universe without me?"

[Anastasia]

Ianvasah laughs, a warm and merry sound.

"N-no! It's just...She's learned multiple circles in an hour, Alyssa! It's completely impossible!" Emily blurts out.

[Iron Dragoon]

"She said that about us, but that's... very interesting... Similar to what happened to me, maybe... Something to investigate."

[Anastasia]

"It has to be," Emily gushes, "It was completely impossible!" Emily repeats, "You don't just learn like that, no one can do that! No one!"
