"Who was the Tome intended for?" she asks, thinking she's probably the safest candidate for digging it out based on that sort of defence.

"Golar of the Shadow Twelve," The yugoloth head intones.

Interesting. "How many fake copies of the Tome were made? And what were the fake copies intended for?"

[Anastasia]

"Futility, to make you assume the tome was gone and miss it so it could be retrieved safely later."

[Ebiris]

"Oh those silly daemons," Alicia drops the corpse to the floor with a wet squelch. "Latha, Syala, stand back?" she goes over to the entrance of this chamber and alters reality to excavate the earth down thirty feet, a quickened wall of force prepared to block any unpleasant stillness that bursts up to meet her.

Quick clarity check - they're meant to be on one side of the walls and you're on the other?

No, they're like on the other side of the room, Alicia's making the wall inside the hole she makes to block anything shooting up at her, so the wall would be between all three of us and the stillness, but Latha and Syala also have lots of solid earth between them and it unless it curves around corners after bypassing the wall of force.

[Anastasia]

The walls of force are set, protecting the party as you dig up the ground.

What comes out is absolute stillness. As much a concept as a material thing, sensed rather than seen. Immediately, cracks begin forming all over the walls of force, gouges being worn within it.

It still buys her some time, so Alicia moves towards Latha and Syala and puts up another now vertical wall of force sectioning off the room and allowing the stillness to continue on upwards and hopefully expend itself on the ceiling.

Syala snaps her fingers, another wall of force joining yours.

Just in time, the first collapsing and the second assailed. The stillness spreads and spreads as Syala adds, "Some sort of pure nothingness or entropy? Clever. If it's Shar's personal work, I don't doubt it could hurt us."

[Ebiris]

"That does make me concerned about the book itself," Alicia admits.

Spellcraft take 10 for 46 is this gonna run out its duration any time soon?

[Anastasia]

Fortunately you can see the energy is fading. The second wall crumbles as does the third, but nothing assaults you. It fades, leaving only the contents of the excavated hole awaiting you.

Alicia then happily goes into the hole to see what's left down there!

[Anastasia]

Syala and Latha follow as you find a blood stained tome sitting at the bottom.

"Hah, she wasn't willing to destroy it. She must really have had plans for it," Syala says brightly, "She should've listened to her instincts, too bad for her."

[Ebiris]

"Unless someone else swapped it for a fake outside of our informant's knowledge," Alicia says before they can get too smug, giving this next book a thorough look over.
