Blood. Scales.

They all fly around you, frozen in a flash and collapsing. Another half dozen are down, the rest reeling and weakened, missile battered and worse. The sands are a mess, ruins being battered as scorpions are thrown around. An ancient wall collapses as a slain scorpion stumbles back through it, adding to the chaos of the battle.

As that happens Marie points at an intact looking giant scorpion and a bolt of lightning sizzles from her fingertips to crackle through it before myriad lesser forks discharge into nearby scorpions!

Scorpions fall, shattered and fried. Only a few remnants remain, most wiped out as lightning rips through them. As they do?

"Alicia, do you fancy giant scorpion riders?" Syala calls, "I think they're open to a change of career about now."

She feels like a scorpion would be awkward to ride, but who knows? Besides they already have phase spiders for their eight-limbed invertebrate contingent so why not expand it? "I'll trust your eye for talent there, Syala!" she calls downwards.

[Anastasia]

I'm fudging the rules slightly here. Technically scorpions are vermin, though this is a case where D&D rules and our real world definition of the term 'animals' varies.

Syala speaks in words that are the chittering of insects and the clattering of scales, "I am your Queen. Come and be forgiven, or pass and perish."

The hall is abandoned now, a doorway leading into it ajar. It swings slightly, as if on loose hinges or otherwise not well kept.

Alicia pushes open that loose door and walks inside!

Within is day and night, here and there. It hurts to look at, a skein of fracture times. The past, the present, all woven together like a fractured glass mirror.

"Temporal fracturing - a type of spiritual wound that can be caused by entities with power over time," Chrona 42 says, "Rare even before the Temporal Compact, it can cause an entire world to fall out of the present."

Syala watches it and says, "Not the sort of thing you can smash in to fix, is it?"

"No, a wish or miracle is the normal method, or altering reality with divine will," Chrona 42 says, "The three of you could pass safely, but any other being would be most likely torn apart, body parts in different temporal positions. It has not yet begun to expand or be dangerous, for it was carefully created yesterday evening."

[Ebiris]

"So it will expand given time?" Alicia asks, eyes narrowing as she takes it in. "Alright then Syala, lets put this to rights..." she says, exerting her will over it.

[Anastasia]

Syala takes your hand, "Let's," she agrees, as before you time repairs. Past becomes present and reality returns.

Chrona 42 watches, each piece of distortion becoming whole, one at a time until none are left. "It will. Like any spiritual wound, it will destroy the Prime if left long enough."

[Ebiris]

"If we happen to leave here without having found all the spiritual wounds I do hope you'll tell us," Alicia says dryly, squeezing Syala's hand and getting a look over the interior of the hall now that time is back in its proper flow.

[Anastasia]

It is hall, decorated with images of nine circles. Various artistry in purple and violet, pretty if faded with time and age.

"Of course. I was only authorized to create them for demonstration purposes," Chrona 42 says, "We also grow close to the end of this, as you have seen much."
