Latha, the one-handed balor is yours.

Confident she'll do her part, waits for them to hit the minefield before she signals for bombardment to begin where it can inflict maximum disruption and allow the extra firepower to ensure deaths even against Ysgard's healing.

Anastasia

'Good,' Latha's answer is simple in your mind.

Perception.

Invisible and unseen, demons cloaked in magic and spell to be almost impossible to detect. Yet your avatar is able to see them, ravaging babau slinking in, weaving amid the battlefield, avoiding traps with greater skill than the charging horde.

She warns Latha and Syala of this.

I can see a few invisible babau flitting in with the horde, they're not amateurs. Watch out, they'll probably evade most of our bombardment magic.

A rain of desolation once they get into range should work well, though. All that magic will count against them for that.

Anastasia

Take care of them. That's your bailiwick as the sorceress, dear.

She'll do her part, though this is mostly for the army rather than her flying over and slaughtering every demon herself.

She could do that of course, but the army needs practice!

Anastasia

On the demons advance, being slowed and felled as they hit the fire mines. It is then that your bombardment is ready, waiting merely for your command and directions.

"First rank, loose! Second rank, counter!" Alicia calls so they can fire off their spells to thin the ranks of demons while other casters prepare to stymie any demons that get themselves together enough to retaliate with long range spells.

Archers are reserved for shooting demons that fly over the earthworks and they're not quite in range for those yet anyway, that also being the domain of medium range magic such as rain of desolation.

A long range spell will do for now certainly, and Alicia adds a sunburst of her own somewhat further back from the leading edge of the horde since she has greater range than most and a bunch of blinded demons in the middle will mess up their charge quite neatly.

Fire and explosions, the power of the sun amid the horde. The center line is stunned, the charge faltering - until you hear Hyl's voice, screaming, "FORWARD! We can take that bitch's head and mount her body in Shendilavri!" The fire is doing its grim work as Latha begins to advance, the sunlight around her like a weapon, as demons die by the droves into your trap.

Oh Hyl, everyone loves an optimist!

Alicia assists with counterspelling now, keeping an eye on the horde and ordering her forces where to focus and when until the demons properly enter the earthworks past the minefield at which point she'll drop a rain of desolation on them and start marking out those sneaky babaus for individual attention.

Wait, when he said 'mount her body' did he mean it...

No, nevermind.

Anastasia

No matter what the answer is, you don't want to know. It's a demon.

More and more fall, the horde thinning - it's working. No reinforcements, just a slowing trickle following. You can see them pushing, your bombardments and defenses extracting the toll desired as...

Roll out the rain.
