In a flash Luneli is there - sidestepping a grasping, clawing hand to bring his light maces together on that gemstone. There's a loud CRACK as fields of force intercept it, shattering before the maces slam into the gem together. Perhaps one would have been merely enough to crack it, but two together are too much. The gem breaks apart with that slam, a dozen and then more impressions of relief, of escape, of joy. Souls passing you by in an instant, fleeing from it.

The bald man howls in fury, reaching out for them as they escape, even as the shadows continue, relentless on you all. Even as more souls start to escape the gem, you notice it's moving together, the pieces reassembling before your eyes.

Stand fast! Seira calls out, her own divine power reaching out to protect her companions.

Ranbar has +30 from MMoP and she better use it! She and Luneli also have a +17 from Improvisation, and I was wrong last time, they originally got 4 rather than 2 uses of it. Finally, they get +20 from the 'bonus to save' my Stand Fast ability provides them.

My relevant defenses are the divine immunities (such as against mind-affecting) and Mind Blank. I don't know whether Aura of Courage will be of use, or being a living divine altar.

600 damage, but you made the save so it's halved. Additionally, all spells active on you are hit with the equivalent of a superb dispelling, with a dispel check result of 60. That won't hit your bardic music since that's not a spell, but I assume that hits a lot of spells for you?

I feel I'm close enough due to originally being within touch range to channel a spell into Ranbar, so a 5ft step would get me into position and flanking with Luneli so he'd get the benefit if this isn't enough.

Swift on Heal, which with Sensual Blessing brings me to full again. The other swift would be used on something to break the gem. What do I think would work best there? Violence? Disintegrate? Miracle to bring the souls freedom?

Also, if the attacks are enough to put this guy down I'll switch the rest on the gem.
