Nephrite

Anastasia

Amid gathering up loot, Kaja comes over, "I think one of us could get power out of that heartscale, whatever's left," he says, "It could be useful."
<Afina> Imagine a tiny pixie boot stamping on a devil's face.
<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Nephrite

"Yes, I agree." Moore says. "I think you need to be a dragon, or have draconic blood to take advantage of it, though. Or at least, that's my personal guess, based on what we've seen so far. I wonder if the people who built this place were dragon-blooded of some nature, or just revered dragons."

Anastasia

"Or used them as power," Xandra speaks up, "It would be far from the first ones who used dragons for that. It may be that was the powerful, mystical artifact they had on hand."

"Slay a red wyrm, use a red wyrm," Jetina muses, "That makes sense."

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Nephrite

"It's possible." Moore says. "Still, we might be able to find some notes or something somewhere here. I'd like to understand how this ended up here, if at all possible. It would help us do something to get whoever is still trapped here out."

Anastasia

"Now that we have leisure, divinations on this may be effective as well," Xandra points out. "We need not restrain ourselves completely."

Moore nods.

With that in mind, he will try Hindsight in the room with the Heartscale itself.

This will go back 8 centuries. It probably isn't enough in this case, but let's give it a shot.

Assuming that doesn't work, he will set up to cast Divination (as the spell) with the following question:

"How did this heartscale come to be here?" - He gets a 90% chance of success, for reference.

Anastasia

Hindsight is no help, as expected.

The answer you get is simple. 'When Deona's folly caused the dimensional bounds to be violated.'

Nephrite

Wait... what?

Moore blinks as he receives that answer.

He tries again, this time with another question.

Going to queue up a few here:

'What exactly was Deona's folly?'

'What happened when the dimensional bounds were violated?'

'Was this heartscale here before the tower appeared?'

This brings my gold total to 100 for divinations. I will keep track and post accordingly.

Anastasia

You're getting into the sort of questions that need something like a commune, Moore. Divination is about events to happen in a week. (The first one I had a mental lapse on and just didn't realize it wasn't a divination question, so you get a freebie there.

Nephrite

Would you believe me if I told you that I was actually looking at the spell and literally never noticed that particular piece of it?

That is fine -- he will use Commune instead and hope that his elevated status can get him some answers other than 'yes' and 'no' on this subject. Either that or he'll bust out a Miracle/Wish if he needs to.

Anastasia

Okay sure. First question is?

Nephrite

He is going to test the waters on the strength of the spell he has access to.

'How did this heartscale come to be here?'

Anastasia

Nothing happens.

It's possible for a deity to answer beyond a yes/no for their purposes or even alter the spell, but it's easier to start with yes/nos so the spell's first premise can work.

Okay.
