You wander down several sets of stairs and platforms. You're going up stairs when you see them starting to come down, far away and ahead. A foursome of malebranche, storming in your direction with single minded haste. They're not quite running, but they're setting a fast clip for sure.

[Ebiris]

They wouldn't even be a warm-up normally, but for her current guise they might be too much. Are there any platforms or diverging staircases between them and the devils?

[Anastasia]

No such luck - though you aren't far past a previous platform (A door to somewhere on Mechanus on a glance) with several stairways to choose from.

[Ebiris]

She peers off into the distance, more for effect than anything else. "I see trouble ahead old man, lets backtrack and see if it passes us by?" she says before turning and jogging back up the stairs at a reasonable mortal clip, intending to swap onto a different stairway at the last platform.

[Anastasia]

The latest set is up, so down. Not a big detail.

"Hmph." Jessica scowls, "Scared of your own shadow, girl?" She follows, arms crossed as she does. "Won't earn much coin that way."

[Ebiris]

"No one's paying me to take on four house-sized devils with these tooth-picks!" she snaps back, patting one of her short swords.

[Anastasia]

"Then how about you get a real weapon," Jessica says, "Unless you want to poke and tickle them to death."

[Ebiris]

"Not all of us have something to compensate for, old man!" she replies quickly. "Swinging two big maces around to go with that polearm you call a sword, could you be anymore obvious? It's embarrassing!"

While her look is irritable and mocking, Alicia feels quite proud of herself for the low-brow repartee coming so easily.

[Anastasia]

The old man scowls, "Best think of something else besides that for once, NIECE," Jessica emphasizes. Her tone is harsh, but she also follows without complaint.

[Ebiris]

"Then stop being so embarrassing!" she responds hotly, reaching the previous platform and going to swap onto a different staircase direction, starting to walk more normally as she traverses it in the hopeful expectation that the devils won't catch up and choose this particular route.

[Anastasia]

Sure enough, the devil make no sign of following - they hurry down another stair, leaving you behind utterly.

"They're gone?" Jessica asks.

[Ebiris]

"Yeah," she peers back. "Looks like we're in the clear. Come on, lets keep moving. Find ourselves some more friendly company."

[Anastasia]

"..." A grunt.
