"It's a built-in aversion in our powers, drawing out a reaction similar to one you'd have if we unchained our auras," Seira tells Moore, giving up on her attempts to glance at the book's contents anyway.

Nephrite

Moore nods to Seira. "I see, so it's like a... primal sense."

He pauses as he looks in the book. "Huh... it's some sort of mathematical formula." He says as he starts to flip through it.

Does it seem at all familiar to him in any way?

[13:16] <Nephrite> roll 1d20+15+18+10
[13:16] <Penuche> Nephrite invokes Penuche's magic: < 62 > [d20=19]

That should be +1 more, for 63.

Extra 18 is from the aura, assuming it's still going. If not, the total is 45.

Corwin

20:18 <Seira> roll 1d20+19+2+3+19
20:18 <Penuche> Seira invokes Penuche's magic: < 50 > [d20=7]

It is, though it's +19 now so your result is 64.

It looks to be a dreadfully complex formula, all adding up to 21 in the end.

Your experiences let you note it may well open some sort of gate, like the lore you had to gather to get this far.

"Portal math, I'm thinking. You?"

"Yes, I agree. I assume it's the final trial to get out of here." Moore says. "Well, we may as well see if we can actually do it, since we're probably on a timer anyway."

However it is that we can use it, let's try and do so!

Anastasia

Int checks, both of you.

The white behind you rises.

"May want to hurry," Kaja calls, as you work. You call on the math and the names, angle with the magic and with a whirl, a portal appears where the bookshelf was.

"Everyone through." Moore says.

He glances off at the other books and decides there's no reason to try and grab any of them. Anything that can be found here can still be found elsewhere.

Corwin

Seira waits for everyone to get through before following!

Everyone hurries through - and you're on the other side. Moore, Seira and Kascha are here, while the others are gone.

You stand on a stairway leading up into the night sky and the cosmos there, a deep and dark starscape ahead. Those stars are great points of white, comets of blue knocking them aside and apart in the skies.

They're safe.
