"Or just got on the bad side of some adventurers," Alicia says, having done her share of holy burning of fiendish laboratories in her time. "But yes, they're not evil and so long as they don't hurt anyone I'm happy to make room for them here."

Anastasia

"Angelic adventurers suggest something more," Syala notes, but doesn't press it. "I'll make sure the phase spiders help them settle in."

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Ebiris

Alicia was an angelic adventurer too!

Yes sometimes she went and did things because Mystra suggested it but she did lots of other adventures just because she wanted to.

Anastasia

Thus this begins and...

Are you going to keep any further eye on them?

Ebiris

Not really. Although take a quick magical check to make sure there's no hidden geases or curses or anything on them.

Anastasia

Nothing like that, but one thing. It's something most would miss but you aren't most. One of the bags doesn't radiate anything at all, and you casually check. The bag is carefully lined and woven with lead, as if conceal anything within it. It's done in a way that suggests powerful magic made the bag.

Alicia gets Marie to check it out for her.

And Marie invisibly teleports over and pilfers the bag from the spider carrying it, replacing it with an illusory double for the moment!

Smooth as can be. Marie gets the bag and is gone. What's she going to do with it, huh?

Rendering the bag invisible alongside her, Marie ducks behind a tree and looks inside while she maintains the illusion of the fake bag!

Anastasia

Inside the bag is a small wooden box, polished and well kept. It radiates overwhelming magic.

Box of the Soul

This box can contain a soul as if a proper gemstone for a Trap the Soul or Soul Bind spell, or similar magic. It can equal a gemstone of up to 30,000 gold value. The soul within is protected by divinations as if by a sequester spell (caster level 28th). On a touch, the box can tell the holder the name, race, gender and eternal disposition of the soul held within.

The box can be reused as many times as desired. It does not break, even if a spell would cause it to break or be consumed. It can still be destroyed with normal force, as it is not an artifact.

Take 10 for 81 on knowledge: nature with divine insight popped to see if I know who that is.

Anastasia

A relatively minor adventurer a few thousand years ago. No one too terribly important, but enough to at least be known. Ended up second best against a vampire coven the last anyone heard, or so the stories go.

Alicia only told Marie to find out what was in that sack, and now that she knows it's up to her what she does with that information. She's a goddess here after all, she gets to decide how things go rather than following orders all the time.

Approaching the spider carrying the fake sack, she starts reading his thoughts. This will make the sack vanish in a little bit from losing concentration but it's the exact same time it takes for her to actually read the spider's surface thoughts.

"If you're hoping to stay in Sylica, you really shouldn't be bringing prisoners," she says, appearing visibly now and holding the box.

DC 27 will on detect thoughts.
