He stood, and walked out of the room.

Smiling warmly at Clara, Miaka said, "The food is really good! Thanks!"

Arkanel returned a few minutes later, carrying an accordian folder with a flap that held it closed.  Sitting at the table, he opened it, and leafed through the a few documents, pulling one, then two, and finally a third from the folder before closing it.

He passed the documents to O'karn.  "These are the best maps I have of the valley, the city, and the world."

[Dracos]

Pushing the empty platter a little away from himself, he glanced over the table, looking for something to clean his hands before handling the maps.  "Human, your cookslave is quite good."

O'karn found the cloth napkins that Clara had left earlier.

Arkanel looked up from his eating.  "I'm glad you think so."

[Dracos]

O'karn roughly cleaned his hands off before taking the maps carefully.  Putting two of them down still folded, he unfolded the first map, looking over it with a trained eye.

Daggedal heads down the stairs..

"Aye'll af to ave a word with Orkanel, then."

Nodding to herself, not totally understanding what the man meant, she led him down the hallway and then down the stairs.  The stairs opened up to a room, a wall guarded the left, but the right was open to look upon what appeared to be a a pantry.

A small table was situated in the middle of it with four small chairs around it.  A boy sat with a young girl and both looked up gained the stairs, neither saying a word.

Cupboards and caibinents lined the walls and two doors could be seen, one leading under the stairs and one leading

When they dismounted the stairs, they turned, going back in the direction they had come, past a large kitchen.

Cuttlery and a kitchen were visible, a few tables, one with a freshly cooked pig upon it.  Two doorways marked this room, one to their left and one straight ahead.

Two small windows were opened to their left, showing a view of a yard that ended on the lake.  Opening the door, Lafiel led Daggedal into the dining room.

"I'm glad to see you made it uncle.  I need to go check on the the others that came."

Arkanel nodded in return and she walked across the room, leaving through the door the others had entered.

"Orkanel! Ye'd best 'ave a good reason for not tellin' me 'bout the constraints of this world!" swears Daggedal, looking somewhat angry as he makes for the sage..

O'karn opened the first map, it was a rough sketch of the valley.  An egg shaped area, with the pass they had entered shown near the bottom of the egg.  A large lake took up a good portion of it.

The village was marked, on the northern side of the lake, near the western or larger oval of the egg.  

The pass into the valley was on the southern side near the eastern end, with Camelot shown as nothing but a shaded area to the west, smaller end of the egg.

Farmland was shaded between the city and the pass, bending around the lake.

Two rivers were clearly marked, one leading from the mountains to the north, into the lake, and one leading from the lake through the pass.

Arkanel looks at the angry Daggedal and shakes his head in dismay.

"I know little of the workings of magic, only that the chosen could perform some small feats of it.  Until you came, I was not sure if it just wasn't possible for others or actively punished, as it has proven to be.  I apologize for my lack of knowledge but thruthfully believed you from other worlds would not be infuenced."

[Carthrat]

Daggedal snorted.

"Don't apologize. Yer a sage, correct? Then go stoody. Find a 'ay fer us ta cast our spells, or I'll just pick up and 'eave."

As Jeremiah gets a groggy response from the other prone person, the door opens and Lafiel walks in.

"Oh!" she exclaims, spying two people in the room when she expected one.

"How did...  never mind, the others are waiting, you can explain to Arkanel."  She turned and motioned for them to follow.

O'karn nodded and closed the map, putting it in his bag.  Taking the next one he opened it, his eyes taking a brief glance at the uppity human before going back to taking in what was important.

Arkanel looked flabbergasted at the newcomer.  He moved a hand over his temple and rubbed it slowly.   "magic.. magic...," he murmered.  "Why is that affliction so important? I can go study, but how long will you sit here and do nothing until your toy is returned?  A day?  A month? A week? Will you be sitting here when Zaphiel comes and destroys us all after he's found all the answers?"
