Hunter02

Alright peoples, I am making my first post the following announcement: I am going to attempt to start a Hunter: The Reckoning (Whitewolf) game on these forums. I can include somewhere from 5 to 10 players (trust me, you'll need every man) give or take, it will begin as a simple survival horror scenario in a small town (or possibly a vacation cabin in the woods, haven't decided) and if there is interest, and the forum works as a solid medium for storytelling, it will branch into a more...epic plot. Here are the basic ground rules:

1) This is going to be a GRAPHIC game, depicting blood, gore, sex, drugs, rock n' roll and all manner of atrocities and perversions, both due to monsterous, and human action. Don't bother signing up if you as a player have a sensitive stomach for that sort of thing.

2) That isn't to say it will be pointlessly sensationalist though. This will also be a deep game, depicting real life drama staged against a supernatural backdrop, and characters will have to wrestle with some very real dilemmas aside from the simple "Which calibur gun should I use to drop this weeks Vampire?" Check your joke characters at the door, please.

3) Another thing about characters. If you are just DYING to put that new character of yours who will be a "badass cross between Vegeta, Sesshomaru, Sephy, and and and...Radical Edward! Yeah, with SPLIT PERSONALITIES AND OODLES OF PRETEEN ANGST!" please do it elsewhere. Your characters are to be REAL, MUNDANE, ORDINARY PEOPLE at the start of the game. Don't even worry about Vampires, Werewolves and the divine mission to lay some holy smackdown on them, leave that up to me. You will be running your character concepts by me BEFORE I admit you into the game, and without exception every character will be an ordinary person. A good rule of thumb is this: If you don't think you would see somebody like your character on the bus or at the grocery store on any given day, he's not suitable for the game. Working class characters are encouraged, but I dont mind wealthier people either. Keep your characters stats average, spread out, and realistic. I will TECHNICALLY allow 4s and 5s in some things, but you had better have a DAMN interesting backstory behind such exceptional abilities or acquisitions.

4) The first person to make an Ex-Marine/FBI officer/Special Ops/Mossad/Merc gets his shit ruined. Don't make stupid characters.

5) No Waywards. Only one Hermit allowed. Sorry, but the broken creeds are a pain in the ass.

6) No, you can't play a monster. Don't ask.

Now that we've got all of that out of the way, lets move on to the technical aspects of the game.

1)I'm a very busy college student, so things will run at a nice slow pace which will give me time for college type things, like work, socializing, and pretending to work. Theres no set time or dates for when I will check things out and update the flow, so be patient and try to limit your character to one action In between my updates. I'll try to establish when you are free to interact with other PCs in my abscence.

2) All posts are assumed to be, by default, in character once the game starts. For OOC chatter (try and keep it to a minumum) put it in parenthesis with an OOC marker before it. For emoted actions, put them in between asterisks. For IC dialogue, put it in quotation marks. Feel free to be as flowery and descriptive as you want with your characters actions, but dont go overboard, do too much in one post, or do things that would require dice rolls without my approval.

2) If you need to do something that would require a roll (ie: Shoot a gun, pick a lock, look for an important document, do stunt driving) put in bold parenthesis what you want to do, and what you think would be rolled for that. I'll make the rolls for you and narrate what happens based on your successes. I'll give you a general idea of the difficulty of the task if its exceptionally easy or hard (or if you ask "How hard do I think that will be?") but I will otherwise keep the rolls secret to add to the suspense. Don't worry, I'm tough but fair.

Heres an example of what a basic post should look like. Say your arguing with an NPC and you decide that its time to throw down:

(OOC: Alright, no more mister nice guy...) *Jack pushes (NPC) off of him and smiles a mirthless smile, showing teeth* "You just overstepped, you little shit. I don't take that kind of crap from scrawny little wannabe Anne Rice characters like you." *Jack pulls his baseball bat, Ol Betsy, from his coat and swings it at (NPC)'s kneecap, channeling his anger into the bat for that special kind of emphasis*
(I'm initiating combat, I need an initiative roll, and one attack roll, called shot to the knees. Thats dex+melee difficulty 7, right? I'm also using Cleave [a hunter power] on the bat.)

To which I'll make the appropriate roll, and depending on the outcome narrate what happens.

3) If combat is initated in the same area as your character, please refrain from acting or talking out of your initiative. Combat will go slowly as a result most likely, so hopefully we can avoid that messy subject except when absolutly nessecary.

4) The system will be White-Wolf's storyteller system. Make your characters as humans using the basic rules for mortals (As shown in almost any white wolf core book). If you want, you can set aside freebie points for supernatural backgrounds (Like Destiny, Conviction etc.) instead of spending them right off the bat, but in the beginning your just a regular joe mortal. People who own, or have access to a whitewolf core rule book (it need not bet hunter) will be given priority. Sorry, but its easier that way. You can get character sheets from www.white-wolf.com under downloads. Post your character's stats here along with his/her backstory for approval. Be as in depth as you can with the little details of your characters life, especially friends, family etc.

Once the game begins, if you need to get my attention for whatever reason, or I miss something feel free to email me. I do believe its listed in my profile.

Thats all for now, I think. If there are any questions, or concerns, or if I missed something let me know here.

very morning I awaken to a distinct pleasure: That of being Salvador Dali, and I sit there and wonder, awestruck, what wonderous thing will he do today, this Salvador Dali?
