The fountain seems to be of Universal magic.

Ukyo moves towards the fountain and peers into it, interested.

"There's some writing here," he says. "Says to toss in a coin and make a wish."

"Not much, I'm afraid," Fuu tells Umi apologetically. "While the burnt out trees are ideal for ambushes right now, during the day they don't offer nearly as much cover. And I would object most strongly to us making any attempt at attacking with our current numbers, so there is nothing much we can do until morning, anyway."

Corwin

"Let's wait till the others arrive first, then," Umi says, shrugging.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Halbarad

"A wish, hmm?" Hikaru shrugs, producing a copper piece from her pouch and tossing it into the fountain. "Suppose it can't hurt. I wish for good fortune in restoring peace to Cephiro and driving these Fey'ri out of our lands."
I am a terrible person.
Excellent Youkai.

The fountain ripples slightly with the impact of the water.. and then vanishes into thin air! Motes of magic float where it once stood, slowly fading away, but producing an undeniably beautiful effect in comparision to the wasteland.

Ukyo raises an eyebrow. "Interesting."

Eventually, night has fallen once more, and Hikaru and Ukyo have managed to make their way to the elven scout party, lead by Umi and Fuu..

"Well, this is it," Umi says, surveying their group after welcoming Ukyo and Hikaru. "You suggested nighttime as having the best chances of success for our attack and subsequent ambush, Fuu, so unless anyone has an objection, let's advance towards the bridge."
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Ebiris

"Let's just go over things first, Umi-chan," Fuu says, holding up a hand. "Your plan is that we attack Fey'ri/Matsu forces at the bridge, then retreat so we can ambush any other forces that get sent out to engage us, correct? We still need to establish our tactics for the initial battle, what the signal to retreat will be, where we will lie in wait for the ambush, and when we will stop waiting in case the enemy is not as stupid as we hope."

Corwin

"Correct," Umi replies with a nod. "We'll attack with our bows and arrows, firing thrice before falling back here, where as you've mentioned before, we could use the burnt out trees while it's dark."

She shrugs. "As for when we'll stop waiting... that rather depends on how things would go, wouldn't you say?"
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Ebiris

"In that case I'm ready to go right now," Fuu replies.

Carthrat

Ukyo shrugs. "Remember, without cover, there's a chance you won't be able to effectively ambush them. A few elves could hide here, perhaps, but even with darkness as an ally, remember that while we have our numbers, that fact can hinder us when trying to hide."

"I'd prefer us to target mostly Fey'ri with our initial attack, to make the ambush more effective," Umi says. "And as for leaving some people behind for a more effective ambush... would you like to lead that group, Hikaru and Ukyo?"
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Carthrat

"I don't think I'll be leading anyone," replies Ukyo dryly.

Halbarad

"That would be fine with me. I doubt my presence on the front lines would make a great deal of difference in any case," the pink-haired elf replies dryly. "Be careful, you two."
I am a terrible person.
Excellent Youkai.

Corwin

Umi nods, and assigns twenty of their party to come with them. "Set up the ambush as you feel is best," she tells Hikaru. "I would suggest keeping half of your forces in reserve nearby, if the terrain doesn't let you set up an effective ambush with the fourty of you." Turning to Fuu, she shrugs. "Seems like we're all set. Lead us to the bridge?"

The elves stealthily make their way to the river, and spread out through the blackened trees, dark shillouetes against a moonless night.

However, upon arriving at the bridge site, they discover that there are no Fey'ri present. The Matsu aren't in the practice of making the officers terribly obvious from the common soldier, and so no particularly viable targets present themselves..
