Edit: Woo! Only a few weeks left!

1.  ARE YOU COMING?
It'll be nice to know who all is planning on coming. Yes, I know many of you won't know until later on in the summer but keep in mind it'll be MUCH harder for you to find places to stay and arrange for transporation that far in.  If you think you are coming or, even better, KNOW you are coming, please let me know.  Or give me some idea. Or say so here. I'm trying to keep a running tally on how many hotel rooms, transportation, etc we'll need to keep track of.

2.How long do you want to stay?
This one is tied to the other, obvious.  If you are coming, how long do you plan on being in town. Obviously those who are closer won't need to worry about it quite as much, but if you'll be flying in from a distance, you need to think about how long you want to stay.

I will be at my parents' house approximately one week before the wedding.  Cy wll be in two probablly half a week before the wedding, depending on work and such.  If you wanted to spend time with either of us, take this into account.

Also, we will only be responsible for you the Thursday or Friday before the wedding up to the day afterwards.  If you want to stay longer, you should try to arrange transportation and rooming elsewhere.  Groomsmen and Bridesmaids we're willing to try to put up ourselves, but other than there we can only do so much.

3. HOTEL ARRANGEMENTS

Our parents have arranged for a block of rooms at the hotel.  Now this is IMPORTANT.  We have a certain number of rooms set aside but YOU NEED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS YOURSELF.  Here's the information my mom sent me.

Quote from: "Inuyasha-chan's Mom"We have already reserved a block of 10 rooms for July 30 and July 31st at the Courtyard Merriott. 3 rooms with 1 king size bed for $89 a night and 7 rooms with 2 doubles at
$99 a night. 1 King and 1 double has already be reserved by Karl's parents. People need to reserve before June 30th or the rooms will be opened to anyone.  They think they will be filled up that weekend because of the big car race in Jackson.

Their number is 517-482-0500.  They need to ask for code JFWS.  It stands for Janik Fildey Wedding and I don't know what the S is for.  That way they will get the special price.

Webpage for this place is here: http://marriott.com/property/propertyPage.mi?marshaCode=LANCY

Address is here:
2710 Lake Lansing Road
Lansing, MI 48912 USA
Phone: 1 517-482-0500
Fax: 1 517-482-0557

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION[/u]

You must reserve a room by June 25, 2004 if you would like a spot.  If you intend on using this hotel, use the group code: JFWS to get the discount.

The other hotel nearby is the Hampton Inn.  Their number is 517-324-2072  it is at 2500 Coolidge Rd.  East Lansing. They might be able to get a better price if they check on line at hotel.com or expedia or any other hotel search website.  The price could be $89 for two queen size beds.  This is about 1 mile from the church while the other is about 1/2 mile from the church.  They both have pools if they want to swim.  If anyone needs a room for Wed or Thursday also they will have to ask about advailablity.

There is a nearby Applebees by the Hampton and a Burger King.  Within a 1/2 mile there are numerous other resturants, a Meijers and Eastwood Town Center mall across from the church.

This means the hotel is open to anyone from Friday night until probablly Saturday night. You are MORE than welcome to find your own hotel if you wish.  Any good hotel place online would help with this.  For those who are interested, the address of the church is as follows:

Faith Church
2300 Lake Lansing Rd.
Lansing, Michigan 48912

Keep in mind, if you go this route, you are agreeing to take care of your own transportation, whether it be car rental, bus or taxi.  Michigan doesn't have the best of public transportation routes though and I know nothing about them so you're on your own in those respects.

As the hotels are rather expensive, I'd suggest ponying up with a few people to reduce costs.  Four to a room isn't too bad and you'll all be comfortable for your stay.  This isn't an anime convention people, you're going to want to look nice so try not to pack too many into a room.

4. TRANSPORTATION

If you're driving, you don't have to worry about this but you might want to let me know anyway so that I can provide you with some sort of map. Or at the very least, please pick up a Michigan map yourself.  We will try to give the best directions that we can.

If you are flying, we'd like for those who are flying in and not providing their own transportation in some way to try to fly in on the same day.  Only the members of the wedding party need to be here on Thursday. You're welcome to come into the area as long as you wish but neither me nor my family can provide shuttle services on a constant basis. We'll have a lot to be doing, after all.  If you ARE flying in, try to fly into either Detroit (which is the biggest airport in Michigan) or into Lansing. (Not sure about the airport codes, sorry)  Lansing is more convienient but as it's a smaller airport, it will also be about $50 more expensive to fly into.  If the guests can either fly in on Thursday or Friday, we can arrange to pick you up.  Of course, it would mean hanging around the airport all day so having similar times might be nice too.  But I'm not too worried about it.  Try not to fly in any later than 7pm if you can arrange it.

5. GIFTS

Cy and I will probablly register for gifts at one or two places, but we honestly aren't going to have a lot of gift options open.  Of course, you all know us. We'd love anything involving anime, gaming, computers, etc.  So if you're looking to buy us something fun, that would be great too! Otherwise, money IS an acceptible gift, especially with all the costs of moving, immigrating and the honeymoon. =p

-----------------

Update: I'm not entirely sure if Cy and I are actually going to get around to registering anywhere.  We've talked about it but never gotten around to it. We, of course, wouldn't mind anime, computer parts, magic cards, etc.  Also, a Gamecube was something I thought might be fun to have around for the both of us. (Lots of multi-player games)  If you don't have money for a gift, don't worry about it. We're not expecting it.  We DO recognize that a lot of people feel that they need to bring/send something.

If you want to send cards, packages, etc, please send them to my parents' house.

Rachelle Fildey
117 N. Main St.
PO box 129
Leslie, MI  49251

My parents' will also be a sort of stoping-place for many wedding activities. (and it's where I"ll be staying right before the wedding)

6. DRESS CODE

Well, Ginn brought this up to me and I didn't include it before because I honestly didn't think about it. ^^;; Oops.

Anyway, dress code for the guests is relatively casual. Guys do NOT have to wear tuxes, girls do NOT have to wear really nice dresses.  Dressy-casual would pretty much sum up how I think you should dress. No jeans and t-shirts, but nice pants and shirts would be fine.  Same goes for girls.  Dress pants, skirts, etc. I'm not too picky.  As long as you don't look like you just walked right off the street or something. =p

Obviously, if you're in the wedding party, this is different. =p But you know that already.

WEDDING RSVPs AND INVITATION NEWS

Okay folks, the wedding is getting close.  If you have NOT gotten a wedding invitation by now, then your address probably got lost somewhere. Hey, it happens. If you would still like an invitation, whether or not you are coming, PLEASE let me know. E-mail me at sansai@senzeni-na.com with your full name, usual nickname and address.

ALSO! THIS IS TERRIBLY IMPORTANT!

If you have gotten an invitation, you need to respond TO MY MOTHER whether or not you are coming. If you ARE coming, it's much more important that you respond.  In your wedding invitation SHOULD have been a purple card that has some blank lines, as well as my parents' phone number and e-mail address. If you did NOT receive this in your invitation, please do the following.

E-mail: honeybee828@hotmail.com
Subject: Rachelle & Karl RSVP
Include your name and the number of people you are bringing. (for instance, 1 for just yourself or 2 if you are bringing a visitor)

Even if you are NOT coming, it's common courtesy to send an RSVP saying you cannot attend. It's not terribly important. If we don't hear anything from you, we're going to assume you're not coming. But if you DO want to come, you NEED to RSVP in some way AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Thank you.

Pre-wedding and Wedding-day Information

Here's a bit of information reguarding the wedding.

1. If you are traveling in to the wedding, you are all invited to the 'Rehersal Dinner' on Friday evening. The wedding rehersal will start at 5pm and go until we're done. Shouldn't be more than an hour or so.  If you'll be in town, stop by the church and hang out.  We'll be eating at my grandparent's house. (The Fildey's, the ones in Lansing)  Food and alcohol shall be provided.

2.  The wedding itself will start at 2pm.  The ceremony shouldn't last more than 30-45 minutes, if that. The reception will be directly afterwards in the hall right across from the santuary. Easy, right? =p

(Pictures are going to be taken before the ceremony so you won't have to wait too long to eat)

3. Cy and I will be leaving for the honeymoon sometime around 6-7pm.  Anything between 2:30 until then will be....well, reception stuff.  I'd like to remind everyone that there will be NO ALCOHOL on the church grounds. So no drinking during the reception.

4. If you have any questions or need help getting to the wedding itself, please contact me. I'll give out my cell phone number and whatnot to those who need it.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

While due to various reasons I cannot hope to attend your wedding, I was considering sending you a gift of some sort at the very least.

Read as: Money. >_>

Which one of you should I send it to, and where would I go about getting the needed contact information?

For now, it'll just be easier to send mail to the US, I suppose.  Please PM or e-mail me with address requests, as I'm not sure I want to put private residence addresses on the forum.

I'll most likely give you my parent's address, just in case, as Cy and I will both be moving in July.

Kwok, no smart-assed replies, please. I don't want this thread filling up with spam. Then it'll be REALLY hard for me to pick out the important information.

Kind of old news, but I will DEFINATELY be attending... if for no other reason then to make sure that Karl doesn't pass out before he says "I do."  (I've seen it happen a groom before)  My plans at this point are to fly to Lansing Airport, arriving at some point Thursday, and I will be heading back home on Sunday.

Would anyone be interested in rooming with me at the hotel to split costs.  I was hoping to ask Figment, Calendar, and Netta (in one of the double rooms) specifically since I KNOW they will be there, but would consider anyone.

Onigiri

Well, theres a motel 6 about a 15 minute drive away from the church. The rooms are 48$ a night for two double beds. It's all about having your own bed.

Now, I have a 4 seat car.. back seat is cramped, it's a sundance.

Easy to shuttle four people around though. Just no long drives :/

Anyway thats where odin and I will be staying. www.motel6.com unless we find something cheaper.

because hey, less money spent on room is more money spent on a gift. or booze... or both :P

odin

There's also an Econolodge and a Super 8, each 9mi from the church in opposite directions.  Good to know in case the Motel 6 gets booked up by millions of people coming to town for the wedding. :P

I think it'd be desirable if all the frugal (non-Mariott) people agree on one of the three and descend on it... that way we can make loud noises in the halls until 4am *together*! :D

Ricey and I are leaning towards the Motel 6 since driving looks very simple and it's 2$ cheaper than the Super 8!  Thoughts?

-Dan

Figment

Well, I'm definately going as well.

I'm planning on flying into Lansing on thursday and leaving on sunday.

And Tab, yes I'd be interested in sharing a hotel room.

Yuthirin

Filling you with either faith or fear, know that I will be there, and, most likely, well-dressed.

And shaved. Egads.

MORE HOTEL STUFF

I have been told there is ALSO a Red Roof Inn near the church. It's bound to be cheaper than the expensive hotels and it's closer than the places Onigiri was talking about, if my mother is correct.

Lansing isn't huge-huge, but it's not really small either. There should be just about every conceivable type of hotel around somewhere.  Just make sure that when you're looking for someplace to stay, you arrange for transportation as well.

I didn't mean to make it sound like you HAVE to stay at the two expensive hotels. Hell no. You can stay wherever you want but transportation to and from the church is all up to you.  Tabyk and Figment we will take care of, mostly because they're groomsmen and we'll make every effort to help them out.  Otherwise, sorry, it's going to be a busy time for all of us. ^^;

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them here.

Not even remotely, Onigiri. ^_^ You could wear kahkis and a dress shirt, if you so desire.  As long as you look "nice", it'll be fine.

And that goes for the rest of you too! =p

HOTEL UPDATE

My mom messaged me about the hotel once again and here's the information I gleaned off of her.

Quote from: "Inuyasha-chan's Mom"
DFStargaze: http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll?qscr=dspv&flag=l&itid=&itdx=&itty=&from=f&shtl=1
DFStargaze: on expedia.com the Red Roof Inn has 2 double beds for $54.99. It's convient and not in bad part of Lansing.  Not sure about were the other one is.  Have people check out this one.  It was more on Hotel.com
DFStargaze: Motel 6 is on W. Saginaw Hwy.  Must be by the Lansing Mall
DFStargaze: Super 8 is by celebration ciniama  all queen beds and only 1 avaiable for that weekend.

On a side note, there is apparently a big auto race thing in Jackson (a smaller city about 30-40 minutes south of Lansing) and the hotels are expecting to be pretty booked. If you know you're coming, you should find something and reserve a spot soon.

Or you could, y'know, always live in your car. =p Whatever.
