"Well, come in.  But I'm giving your father a call."

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Zenthor

"Thank you, ma'am."  She entered the house.  She didn't feel too worried.  Her dad probably didn't notice she was gone, with him sleeping during the day and being at work at night.

Well, she hoped, anyway.  But right now food was more important.  Especially food that wasn't hers.

Burgers were the night's fare and much joy was had by all.

Later, Jade's father's car pulled into the driveway, beeping for Jade to head out.

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Zenthor

Jade thanked Steve's family for the food, and headed out.  If she was in trouble, she tried to not think about it.  Besides, she more than likely wasn't.  She hadn't heard anything about a grounding from her father, so she'll just try the ignorance is an excuse angle.

"Where've you been young lady?" Her father asked as they drove home.

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Zenthor

Jade scratched her neck, and told him about her experience up until getting mugged by Kriss and not waking up until the middle of the night.  She didn't tell him about the aliens... just yet.  Better to gauge how much trouble she's in or not in first.

"Jade you need to be more careful.  You could've gotten hurt.  I'm grounding you for the weekend for that."

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Zenthor

Jade opened her mouth to protest, before remembering that it was Sunday evening, the weekend was almost over.   She didn't bother to question to see if he meant the next weekend, because ignorance can be bliss.

"All right... sorry,"  was all she said.

The rest of the drive home was quiet...

The next day, the sun rose over Cinqville.  Schooltime?

Or skiptime?

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Zenthor

Jade got dressed and ready, walking out the door, supposedly going to school.  She went over her schedule in her head.  Grammar, Math, Science, and.. Oh, who was she kidding?  She wasn't going to school.

She slowly walked, not to school, not to anywhere, trying to think of something to do.

She found herself in the city park, always a whirlpool of activity, butterflies, and dogs catching frizbees.

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.

Zenthor

Jade breathed in.  Nice air.  Maybe she'll find something today that doesn't involve aliens.  She began to roam about the park, throwing rocks at squirrels, birds, and other small animals as she did so.

She encountered a chicken.

It did not cross the road.

It did not find anything on the other side.

It stood, boldly one might say, in her way.

Dracos
Well, Goodbye.
