So this game has been bugging me since I got the RPG, 10-11 years back.

I'd like to run an Ars Magica game, with no more than 6 people to start off with, with potential openings if my GMing and Scheduling powers miraculously take a leap into the heavens.

Ars Magica starts around 1197-1220 AD, the dates for 3rd and 4th edition respectively. It's a historical fiction RPG, with the added twist of things like faeries, demons, Hell, the Divine, and magic being true. There's also an order of mages, the Order of Hermes, existing just below the surface of European society.

Magi (sing. Magus or Maga), tend to associate in small groups, from 6 to 30, called Covenants, to pool resources and protection. A covenant is the focus of a given game, and a sort of central character for everyone to contribute to.

Players create around a dozen characters, only 2-3 of which are really detailed. The rest are fairly cookie cutter to contribute their ideas to the covenant's 'common folk'. 1 of course, is a magus or maga, the other 1 or 2 detailed characters are called companions, anything from wandering storytellers to knights to merchants to hermits. These character all together out of game form a player's 'turb'. In game, a turb is simply the traveling group.

Who from their turb a player plays is determined by the current adventure. It may involve all or most of the magi, with a couple companions and grogs (cookie cutter henchmen) around the fringes, a companion and a few grogs, or any such combination.

Yes, this is a fairly complicated style of play.

I'm looking for people who don't mind the pace going however schedule permits. The exacts of the setting and such, are a part of the creation process, and will be developed when/if the group assembles.

I already have Rez interested and Bean on board, so 4 slots left unless someone wants to Co/Assistant-GM with me to make the load easier.

http://spookshow.ath.cx/files/rollspel/arsmagica/ HTML download of rulebook and character sheet. Yes, it's legal, the publishing company has put up 4th edition for free download. If the group comes together, I'm going to codify a slightly different covenant creation system for us.

*eyes the long silence* That's three people...

I'd like at minimum one more, prefferably two before doing this game...

*looks around* Anyone? Please? Bah.
