Wow, I don't know a single song there. Go me. (I will, though. Oh yes.)

I'll save commentary on the songs until then, but I do like this concept. Senshi soundtracks, if you will. Mmm. I think I might try my hand at it for a few NPCs, and are any of you girls interested in giving this a go, either?
<Afina> Imagine a tiny pixie boot stamping on a devil's face.
<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Kotono Sarashima:

Main Theme - Super Trampoline School Kid - The Pillows. This fits both in title and tone, I believe.

Supernatural hunting theme - Raine: Ruins Mode. This fits, and probably more if you're familiar with the character this theme is taken from.

As for Mako's stuff? Oh, and I preface this with the note my musical tastes are fairly wacky.

Ignited fits well enough, though I think I want to kill the singer.

Breathe? ...Oh, I do know this song, actually. Radio song, but yeah. Anyway, does it fit? As a fighting song, it really doesn't feel like it fits at all. I'm not sure what sort of mood or action it fits, but fighting isn't it. 'least as far as I hear it.  To be honest, I think I dislike the song as it is, so take this for what you will.

Vertical Horizon fits. It fits like a glove a size too small, clinging on tighter than you can imagine because it's just right.

Faith of the Heart? Fits Mako, though I have difficulty seeing it as a travel song. It feels almost like an introspective piece, really.

Propellerhead? I suppose it works, for all that I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion we don't see fight song requirements in the same light.

And Hotaru follows close behind, with her slightly more limited selection. <_<

Introspection: Zero Hour (Noir OST)

Saturn Battle Theme: Duel of the Fates (Techno Remix)

General Theme: Tune the Rainbow (Maaya Sakamoto)
lt;Kotono>  (Currently looks like a 16-year-old girl):I walk up to the leader and say, "Are you so sure you want our money?" and use my alter self ability to grow a massive bulge in my pants.

General Themes:
Usagi: My Omelette (Dragon Half)
Mamoru: Downtown Dance (Tylor)
Makoto: Keep your Style (Prince of Tennis)

Ami's Introspection: Code Crush (Aiuchi Rina)
Mercury's Theme: Live & Learn (Johnny Gioeli)

Can't really think of a general theme that really fits for Ami. >_>
<Cidward> God willing, we'll all meet in Buttquest 2: The Quest for More Butts.

Comments on others' song selections:
Mako's Main theme...well, I suggested a PoT song that I think fits her better personally.

I agree with Dune regarding the Vertical Horizon song, the matrix one seems a bit over the top, and haven't really heard the others.

Hotaru's themes are pretty good, though I think her choice of general theme is more regarding how Makoto feels in regards to Hotaru, than Hotaru's own theme.

Here's my selection of themes for Usagi, along with a couple of others.

This was pretty hard, going by my self-imposed restrictions of only using CDs I physically own and not taking more than one song from a single artist. But here we go...

Usagi's theme songs

Carefree - Into the Groove (Madonna)
The temptation to use 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' was nearly overwhelming, but Miss Lauper had secured her one song already. Upbeat and girlish, this fits our carefree and cheerful rabbit perfectly. Does have a little sexual overtone in the lyrics, but that's Madonna for you. Considering her other songs of this period, it gets off easy. And I was really struggling to find something in my collection for this category.

Melancholy - Febuary Stars (Foo Fighters)
Honestly, this could be used for anyone in a melancholy mindset. And Usagi rarely fits that mindset herself. But it was the first song I found that fit enough for me to use. So there. Fits for those rare moments of introspection and worry.

Romance - Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper)
Ahh... I love this song. Slow and compelling, it's perhaps a bit more serious than Usagi's girlish thoughts of romance, but it does capture the depth of her feelings (and fits very well if Serenity and Endymion are factored in).

Sailor Moon - Headlong (Queen)
When Usagi's Sailor Moon, she has a tendancy to rush headlong, and there's nothing you can do about it! (Sorry, Mako-chan!). This song does a good job of conveying her enthusiasm and lack of foresight, and touches on the problems associated with such.

Battle - You Can Do It (No Doubt)
The intro of this one is very light, and somewhat reminds me of the Moon Tiara Action theme from the anime. And the lyrics match up to the action (and Usagi's hopes for after the battle) bearing in mind her determination to purify all youma she can, whether they want it or not.

And here's my suggestions for the villians.

Youma (in general) - Voodoo People (Prodigy)
Not much in the way of lyrics on this one, but it's meant to be a generic song for all youma, and the rhythm just seems to feel right for that.

Jadeite - Powerslave (Iron Maiden)
This is a very bitter song. Even if Jadeite isn't dead (yet!) the sentiment of it seems to fit him to a tee. Plus it rocks. In fact, objectively, it's the best song I've listed here. So neener neener.

I'll try to see if I can download everyone else's songs tomorrow so I can comment...

We apparently see Tune the Rainbow in very, very different ways.

I listed to the PoT one. So loud and obnoxious...;-; is that what you really think?
The Gundam one was selected for general feel of the music, rather than anything in the lyrics. >_> I just can't think of Makoto with 'Keep your Style' Janna, maybe. If I was going to pick a new main theme for Makoto, The first Vandread theme: 'Trust' would be it. But 'Ignited' works better, IMO.

The overall consensus being that my batt themes suck, and I can't disagree, Heres the runners up, with a nod to Usagi's preference for English music. >_>

Senshi Fight! - Thunderstruck : AC/DC
Civilian Fight - THe rising fighting spirit : Naruto

And, THough it has a decided masculine slant, I submit 'Princes of the Universe' As a Senshi group theme. >_>
