The Man They Call Shan

[Kwokinator]

"Ah, very true," the man nods in agreement, but counters with, "But I can tell you something more immediate.  Something in the coming months."

[Edward]

"Well, that would depend on how much you're asking.  I'm not exactly wealthy."

[Kwokinator]

"It doesn't cost much..." the man smiles benignly. "Merely 15 bronze coins, chump change compared to some of my colleagues.  Just a... test of desire to be prepared for the future, if you will."

[Edward]

"Ah, but I am a man of humble means.  I could perhaps afford ten bronze coins."

[Kwokinator]

The middle age man laughs a good-natured laugh, stroking his beard.  "Nice try, young one, but no.  Like everything in life, the secrets of life do not come easily, or cheaply."

[Edward]

Zhu Lin shrugs.  "Fifteen bronze it is."

He will have the man break one of his silver taels, which will leave him with 1 silver tael and 35 bronze coins.

[Kwokinator]

"Very well," he says with a smile as he reached into a hidden pocket inside his long-sleeved robes and retrives the appropriate change, handing it to Zhu Lin.

Studying him intently, the fortune teller asks, "I see your forehead is clouded with some darkness... have you noticed any... otherworldly encounters lately?"

[Edward]

"Perhaps," Zhu Lin says with a smile.

[Kwokinator]

"That's what I thought," the fortune teller says with a smile. "But not to worry.  Unlike many others who seem to be unwillingly in touch with someone from the other side, I can see that she doesn't mean you harm.  Maybe she just wanted something from you...?"

"Hmm..." he says as his smile broadens into a grin. "I see that you have something of a peach blossom luck this year... although luck and disaster is only a short distance away.  Be careful, young one."

"And I can see that the coming months will be the most important months in your life... you will embark on a journey that will either leave you with more than you've ever had, or leave you dead.  Step carefully."

[Edward]

Zhu Lin raises an eyebrow at the mention of 'she'.  And another at the mention of 'peach blossom luck'.

"Um, thank you.  I shall try to step carefully, then.  How can I improve my luck?"

[Kwokinator]

OOC:  Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you.  Having peach blossom luck basically means that you'll be having great luck with women, intnentional or not.  They may just be more receptive/responsive to your actions, or they may be more forward than they would otherwise be ^_^

IC:  "Don't worry," the fortune teller laughs warmly. "As long as you don't anger girls, you'll be fine with them.  You have bigger things to worry about."

[Edward]

"Well, I try not to anger girls," Zhu Lin replies hesitantly.  "But how do I deal with the bigger things?  What can I do to improve my fortune in that?"

[Kwokinator]

"There's nothing you can do," The fortune teller shakes his head. "The tides of fate have started moving, and all you can do is go along with it.  The only thing I can tell you is a warning.  Yes, there will be a chance where you may die, sometime during your journey.  All you can do is be careful."

[Edward]

"Thank you," Zhu Lin replies.  "I shall try."

Inless that man has something further to say, he will excuse himself and find someone who sell shovels.

[Kwokinator]

Zhu Lin soon arrives at a store that seems to sell farming equipment.

"Can I help you?" he asked.
