Dracos

[18:29] Dracos: Mary had just rode into the town of twin peaks, the sun descending as it was late afternoon.  It'd been a long day riding, but Mary was used to long days... could go for a drink thouggh.
[18:32] * Mary cracks his neck and pulls his hat down over his eyes a little further and rode down the dirt street at a slow pace, heading towards the saloon, eyeing the townsfolk he passed.
[18:34] * Mary reigns in his horse, swinging out of the saddle with a muted grunt and hitches it to the post, heading in for a drink with a shift of his gun belt, hiding them further inside his coat.
[18:36] * Mary wanders up to the bar slowly, taking in the saloon and it's patrons, motioning for the bartender once reaching the bar.
[18:37] Dracos: the bartender is a pretty stern looking character, wiping his hands on a bit of a dirty rag before heading over there.  "What can I get you partner/"
[18:38] Mary: "I'll take a beer to start, 'tender. Don't care what kind it is, long as it don't taste like piss and's wet."
[18:39] *** Velsper has joined #wasteland.
[18:41] Dracos: "sure thing... where ye ride in from?"  The bartender worked, getting him a beer in short order.
[18:41] Dracos: Mary could see some folks gambling in the corner, four men playing poker.
[18:42] Dracos: The saloon didn't have any music, though it did have a pretty old piano, a beat up thing, along the wall.
[18:42] Mary: "Out from the south a ways. Been a while since I took out of a town."
[18:42] * Mary takes the beer and starts drinking it slowly, savoring the alcoholic burn.
[18:44] Mary: "Anythin' happenin' round these parts, 'tender?"
[18:45] Dracos: "Not really...  you're the first visitor in this week anyhow."
[18:45] * Mary grunts and takes another swig.
[18:46] Mary: "Quiet town, then.. Good, I outta get some sleep, then. What about a place to stay and some work?"
[18:49] Dracos: "So curious, stranger?  What's your name anyhow?" A guy near him, a little drunk, asked.
[18:50] * Mary grunts and mumbles a bit before answering.
[18:50] Mary: "Name's fer friends, stranger."
[18:52] Dracos: The bartender eyed him. "Why's that?'
[18:53] * Mary shrugs a bit.
[18:53] Mary: "Jus' how it's been in my life. Friends 've been few and far."
[18:54] Dracos: "No, no...why's your name so secret...you a wanted man or something?"
[18:54] Mary: "Nah, ain't wanted. Just ain't insterested in makin' friends here. Passin' through 's all."
[18:58] Dracos: "uh huh...  Well then...no need for work, right?"
[18:58] Mary: "If you ain't the offer'in the work, then no, you don't need it much, do ya?"
[19:00] Dracos: "What, ye too good for a name?  probably something stupid, like pissant." The drunk guy joked.
[19:01] Mary: "Nah, you just ain't good enough for my name. Go back to your stool and shut yer hole, 'fore I shove a 'pie down it."
[19:03] Dracos: "You and what army, pissant?"
[19:04] Mary: "Pft, army? A drunk shit like you don't even rate a schoolboy, much less me."
[19:05] * Mary sets his beer glass down and drops some cash next to it.
[19:05] Mary: "Ey, 'tender, toss me some whiskey."
[19:06] Dracos: The bartender poured him some, and moved back as the man got up. "Ye just beggin' for a beatin'" He swung at Mary.
[19:07] Mary: OOC-Drac, PM real quick.
[19:12] * Mary steps back and grabs the man's wrist, pulling him down and dropping an elbow into his spine, then reaches over and grabs the whiskey, bringing it up and taking in the sweet smell of it while staring down the man.
[19:14] Dracos: the man grunted, stumbling back clumsily, and grabbing the hard wood stool he'd been sitting on, swinging it hard at Mary's back as soon as he cought his breath.
[19:15] * Mary jumps back out of the way of the swing and grinds his teeth.
[19:15] Mary: "Son, you about made me spill my drink. Sit down, or I'll put you down. INTO the ground."
[19:16] Dracos: Mary had the attention of most the saloon at this point as the man responded angrily, "You and what army, pissant?" The chair swung again, closer.
[19:19] Mary: "I am an army, son. And you're startin' ta piss me off. If ya want a name, I'll give it to ya, but you best decide if you wanna be a friend or dead."
[19:20] * Mary downs the shot and motions for another from the bartender, staring down the man he's fighting.
[19:20] Dracos: The bartender isn't moving near that.  "Tommy, you break one of my stools and your paying for it."
[19:22] Dracos: "Thought we already worked out that..." The drunk laughed. "Pissant, right?"
[19:23] Mary: "Ah, walkin' dead man then. 'Spose a man has the right to know who put 'im in the ground. Name's Mary, Tommy-boy. Mary Merrick."
[19:24] Dracos: "Mary?  Your name is..." The man practically fell down laughing.
[19:24] Mary: "Fill that glass, 'tender. I got a thirst."
[19:25] Mary: "Sure is, Tommy-boy. So, where you want to die? In here an' mess up the 'tender's fine floor, or out in the dirt where you're gonna sleep tonight?"
[19:26] Dracos: "Naw, naw...  no point.  I don't gunfight with chicks." he snickered.
[19:27] * Mary grunts and slams his fist into Tommy's face, crushing his nose in a spray of blood.
[19:27] Mary: "Guess you jus' get bloodied by em, then."
[19:35] Dracos: "Hey, now, bitches should stay down." One of the gamblers, probably a friend of 'Tommy', stood up to join in as Tommy groaned in pain, holding his nose.
[19:37] * Mary draws one of his pistols slowly and aims it at the dead center of the second man's forehead.
[19:38] Mary: "Till now, there was only one dead man in this room. I'm seein' two now, or am I mistaken?"
[19:39] Dracos: That man's three friends got up. "Mary, if that's your name, I think you be seein' double if you think you're gonna walk out of here like that."
[19:40] Mary: "Five then, sounds right. You corpses wanna lie in here, or do we wanna walk outside and keep this kindly 'tender's floors clean?"
[19:41] Dracos: "Sure...let's.  I don't want to clean up."  The man gestured.
[19:41] * Mary holsters his pistol with a nod and a grin before turning to the bartender.
[19:42] Mary: "I want that glass filled when I come back, 'tender."
[19:42] * Mary heads on out to the street, waiting for the five dead men to come out.
[19:46] Dracos: They joined him, spread out a bit on the street as they stared him down.
[19:47] * Mary grins at them and tosses his jacket away from his pistols before speaking.
[19:47] Mary: "I'll even grant the dead one last kindness. You all call the draw."
Session Start (Dejatoon:#wasteland): Sun Jan 22 19:54:56 2006
[19:54] *** Initial topic: #wastelandOOC up | <Jan> Bikimono. | Kweeeeh.

[19:54] *** #wasteland was created on Sun Jan 22 16:41:33 2006.
[19:55] * Mary takes the drink and slams it home, setting the glass back down.
[19:55] Mary: "I don't take kindly to strangers startin' fights with me, neither. 'Spose he'll be along, though. Gimmie another beer. I got a man ta wait for outside.
[19:55] Mary: "
[20:00] Dracos: "Money first."
[20:00] * Mary nods.
[20:00] Mary: "Yea, sorry 'bout that. Forgot in the excitement an all."
[20:00] * Mary lays down a few dollars more.
[20:05] Dracos: The man ggave him a beer...
[20:06] * Mary takes the mug and heads out of the saloon, leaning aginst the hitch post by his horse, sipping his beer and waiting for the Sheriff to show.
[20:13] Dracos: Didn't take long, as the man rode up on a horse shortly afterwards.  "I hear tell you're responisible for these five?"
[20:14] Mary: "After a fashion. They started the fight, I finished is all."
[20:17] Dracos: "Right, right.... now, how about this.  We walk over to the jail and you finish it in there for a good twenty years?  Sounds about proper to me."
[20:18] Mary: "Don't sound proper ta me, jailin' a man for defending himself."
[20:23] Dracos: "Don't sound proper ta me for a man to walk into town and leave five dead."
[20:24] * Mary shrugs.
[20:24] Mary: "It ain't right for five men to gang up on one, either."
[20:27] Dracos: "Mmm, I'll give you an hour.  If I catch you, you'll be in jail till you're old and gray."
[20:28] * Mary grunts.
[20:28] Mary: "If you catch me, you better have more men than I have bullets."
Well, Goodbye.

Iron Dragoon

Session Start: Fri Jan 27 19:03:24 2006
Session Ident: #wasteland
* Logging #wasteland to 'logs\#wasteland.DejaToons.log'
* Iddy is now known as Mary
<Dracos> At the end of the last prequel session, Mary was getting run out of Twin Peaks, the small town he'd been in not a full day...  He'd been given an hour by the Sheriff, and by the looks on the man, he seemed to be meaning to take up on it.
* Mary yawns a bit, continuing to slowly drink beer for the first fourty-five minutes of the hour he was given, before slowly going outside and swinging up in his saddle.
* Mary slowly rides through the town, making a point to go past the Sheriff's office to give a tip of the hat and smart ass grin as he passes.
<Dracos> He saw...maybe thirty...fourty men getting ready out there, not finding his smart ass grin very clever.
* Mary tosses a wave over his shoulder as he heads past, making sure to end it with shooting motion of his hand before turning back to the way he's going, whistling away.
<Dracos> oOC: Just going to keep at a casual pace?
> OOC- Yeah, unless it'll keep me in town past the hour.
<Dracos> Mary's just about about a half mile out of town by the time the hour runs out...  the plains not giving much room for cover at this point.
* Mary keeps checking over his should, not quite trusting the Sheriff's tolerance for his antics..
<Dracos> He could already see the dustcloud forming in the distance, dozens of horses heading out.
> "Figgers.. Ah well, I'm up for a bit of exercise.. Let's go, boy."
* Mary cracks his neck and spurs his horse into a gallop, leading off the start of a chase.
<Dracos> He had a bit of a start, but then they knew the area better, as he could see some roughs coming up that'd slow him down a fair ways if he continued the direction he was heading.
* Mary scans the area as he goes, looking for places that would give him a decent chance of a hold-out.
<Dracos> He could head south.  seemed like there were some woods there.  Maybe he could lose them in there for a bit.
* Mary grunts and wheels his horse to the south, watching over his back and keeping a hand on his pistol grip..
<Dracos> They were catching up, but he still had some distance as he wound through the rocky area and yellowish trees.  Maybe a 10 minute or so lead on them now.  He could see furthe south, what looked like a bit of a gorge.
* Mary heads into the gorge, hoping to bottle neck them in the turns to be able to take them all down.
<Dracos> Heading in, he could see that if he left his horse behind, he could probably lose them in it.  It was fairly narrow, just enough room for a man, but there were some caves that spotted it.
* Mary tethers his horse as best he can, before grabbing the supplies he can carry and heading into the gorge, sticking to what cracks and caves there are.
<Dracos> It's an unsteady path into the gorge, and, were he a claustrophobic man, he'd probably be having an attack... that said, he slips down to the first cave, little more than than an indentation in the wall...enough for maybe, two, three men to sit in it... He'd be practically invisible down here, and even if they came, they wouldn't be able to get in with a clean angle more  than one at a time.
* Mary hunkers down here, drawing his pistol and waiting for the first walking corpse.

This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.

Iron Dragoon

Session Start: Sat Feb 04 22:28:25 2006
Session Ident: #wasteland2
[22:28] * Logging #wasteland2 to 'logs\#wasteland2.DejaToons.log'
[22:30] * Mary starts to doze, too many days of hard travel overcomming his caution and he slumps into the corner of the small cave, deep in sleep.
[22:33] <Dracos> He heard a Kweeeeh... stirrring him slightly from his sleep.  Dammit, had he fallen asleep?  They could've killed him and...wait, they hadn't gotten here even now?
[22:34] * Mary stands up, slinging the saddle bags over his shoulder and looks around cautiously, gripping his pistol tight.
[22:35] <Dracos> He was still down in the crack... No one else was here and well, aside from that strange call, it seemed a pleasant enough morning.
[22:36] * Mary edges out around out of the cave, searching the tops of the gorge walls and down whatever paths he can see while heading towards where he tied his horse up, hoping to see it, but not expecting to.
[22:38] <Dracos> No horse...  though, one might wonder where this forest came from..and the grass...and the squirrel licking at his nose.
[22:38] * Mary looks around wide eyed..
[22:38] > "What in the hells is goin' on here..."
[22:40] <Dracos> A kweeeh to the north was his only answer...  the forest more alive than well, anything he'd seen in all his days riding in the west.
[22:43] * Mary looks around the area he's in again in wonder and then heads off to the north to find out whats making that odd noise, and to find out if it's edible or not.. Who knows how long till he can resupply..
[22:44] <Dracos> A little ways in, he spotted the biggest bird he'd ever seen.  Eating some berries off the bushes, it was as big as a horse, wide enough for a man to ride on, and with an oddly cute sort of look to it.
[22:45] * Mary stares at it, boggling and thumbs the hammer on his pistol.
[22:45] > "What in the hell is going on... I musta been too long with no water and got myself a brain fever.."
[22:46] * Mary edges around the bird, trying to avoid it, but see more of the area he's in..
[22:48] <Dracos> He's still in the forest.  The bird seems to notice him, but doesn't run off, apparently used to people.  The grass is soft beneath his feet... almost too nice, an idyllic more than a real forest one might say.
[22:49] * Mary makes note of the berries the bird is eating, but avoids the bird its self and continues north.. too stunned by his surroundings to do much else..
[22:53] <Dracos> A few hours later, he saw a castle, not far ahead.  He was coming out of the forest now, plains of grass ahead up until what looked like a small city..
[22:53] * Mary sits down and stares at the castle, dumbfounded..
[22:54] > "Where the hell... Heh, maybe that posse did kill me in my sleep and this is some drunken vision of heaven... maybe hell.."
[22:55] * Mary scratches his head before drawing his second pistol and checking both cylinders for rounds, and reholstering them, then gets up and heads towards the castle..
[22:55] <Dracos> The longer he stared at it...the more the castle didn't vanish like the hallucination he kinda wished it was.
[22:55] > "Ah well.. Might as well jump in with both feet.. Wonder if there's an anchor tied to em, though.."
[22:58] <Dracos> Heading towards the castle, he saw...well, medieval guards towards the edge of town, the place looked like something out of a fantasy novel for the 1500s.
[22:58] <Dracos> The type of thing he'd see in a robin hood book maybe.
[23:01] * Mary approaches the guards, hand hovering near the grip of his pistol, but seemingly casually at his side, with the brim of his hat low over his eyes..
[23:02] > "Umm..er... Howdy there, partner.. Was wonderin' iff'n ya'll might tell me exactly where I am.."
[23:02] <Dracos> "Hmm?" A young guard came over to help him.  "You're at Baron, sir...  Do you need help?"
[23:03] > "I 'sppose I do.. I've got no idea exactly where Baron is... What's goin' on here? Is that a... castle?"
[23:04] <Dracos> "Um, yes, that's Baron Castle...have you never seen one before?   Where are you from?"
[23:09] > "I'm from out southwest.. A piss hole in the ground called Twin Peaks.. Ya heard of it before?"
[23:12] <Dracos> The guard blinked, quite surprised. "No, from the south you say?..hmm.  And you've never heard  of Baron before?"
[23:12] * Mary eyes the castle..
[23:12] > "Well... I mighta heard of somethin' up this way, but I never really paid attention ta where I was going or what was there.."
[23:14] <Dracos> "Mmm, would you mind coming to the castle?  Nothing bad, but I'm certain the king would like to hear of this place."
[23:16] * Mary takes note of the rare, and surprising, fact that the guard seems to be honest, and decides to play along, fully confident of his ability to take down some sword swinging idiots if need be..
[23:16] > "Alright, buddy.. I 'sppose that won't hurt none, lead off."
[23:18] <Dracos> The man nodded, leading into the town...
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
