City. Crime. You. Solution?

Okay.  Bjorn has demanded, and so too shall he recieve!  I'm planning on running a HERO system game.  Now, both of the ideas I had for running on SR were suborned by my RL friends, and I don't like running the same game twice, so no Far East or Prohibition Era with Magic campaigns.

So this is the situation.  You've got a power, a special ability, or ... something.  There's a crime-filled city with too few willing cops.  This is Atrocityville (almost like the name invites disaster, eh?), and the mayor has managed to get a grant to provide some form of civic improvement.  Hopefully something like a superhero that can save the day!

...but they don't actually have that kind of budget, so they can only afford to actually hire ... well ... you.

So you have, heard of the need for heroes in town.  There's two teams of crime-fighting heroes, and you're looking at being hired into what the naitives lovingly call, "Team B".  You know.  The backup team.  The Adequate Commandoe and the Reasonably Powerful Force are swamped with work as it is, so you won't be fighting crime from the bench, either.

Are you brave (stupid) enough to step up and join the lofty ranks under the leadership of Captain Obvious and his sidekick, Supposition Boy?  Are you patient (bored) enough to endure the harsh reality of endless lootings, muggings, and vandalism while you try and improve this sorry situation?  Are you willing (breathing) enough to validate your existence?

Then this is the job for you!

Heh, your post vaguely reminds me of The City game Drac ran a good long while back.

Are you planning on running this as a board game or IRC game? If an IRC game, what days?

Definitely interested.  Ideas for characters reel through my head like inebriated sailors fighting off gonorrhea-induced dizziness after three weeks of shore leave.

Oops.  Sorry about that.  This game will be primarily forum-based, and if it's workable to everyone else's schedules, there may be IRC sessions (don't plan on it).

I shouldn't have too much difficulty doing forum-based, so I'll be signing up.

I'm semi-intersted, providing that I don't have to learn huge amounts about the system, and that you don't mind having a n00b along.

No worries there.  While not a parody, keep in mind that the game is generally comedic (this gives me a lot more leeway with things).

If no one else is interested, then we'll begin to discuss chargen and character creation, oh, Mondayish.

And if anyone else is, we'll start on, say, around Monday.

I'm not even ready to commit to an IRC schedule.  I work from (PST) 3:00 PM to midnight most days, and because of the bus, I don't usually get home until 1 or 2 AM.  So, really, I have a hard time imagining most people finding hours that would work with mine.  So we'll start it out on the forums and see where we get from there. :p

There we have it.  Merc, Ragnar, Edward and ... there was some other guy.  What's-his-lack-of-face.  Anywho, whoever that is and the three of you should create your hero characters.

We're going to start with 100 CP, and up to 30 points of flaws.  If you don't know enough about HERO to create a character, catch me on IRC (I'll be online pretty much all day Thursday) and I'll walk you through it.  We'll try to start the actual game on Monday, so I'll bug Drac to get a forum (City MkII, I think) set up for us before then.
