Quote from: AnastasiaSince we seem to know what it is/what it does, what DOES the oil of magic weapon do?

Makes a normal weapon a +1 weapon, temporarily.

Anastasia

Does that stack/work with masterwork weapons?

Boosts damage but not to hit. Mainly just used for getting by damage reduction.

Anastasia

That could be mildly useful for me if I need to go all out damage. I wouldn't mind nabbing that oil. Howl ong is it effective for?

1 minute per caster level. Assume 3 minutes on this oil.

Net GP Profit Per Party Member: 3972.25gp

Of course, we don't actually HAVE all this gold because we haven't sold stuff from here, yet.

We can 'buy' things from the loot we have, so if Varul wants that magic-weapon potion, he can strike off 25gp from his share of the loot and keep it. Effectively, all the items here are buyable for half-price.

If we can't sell an item right after we get it, we can hold onto it until such a time is made known. If we're able to trade magic items for something closer to their true value, we can go for that, too. If someone wants something from the list that they can't afford, we'll deal with that when it comes.

<-Things Only Good For Selling->

Golden Emerald Ring (50 gp)
Spell Components - mostly crushed diamonds and rubies, along with a fair deal of silver (344gp)

Dull Grey Ioun Stone (25gp)
4 heavy steel shields (100gp)
4 longswords (60gp)
1 shortbow (30gp)

<-Things Good For Actually Using->

Ghost Touch Dagger +1 (8000gp)
Bracers of Armour +2 (4000gp)
Peg Leg of Balance +5 (800gp)

Oil of Daylight (750gp)
Oil of Magic Weapon (50gp)

Cause Fear (25gp)
Deeper Darkness (375gp)
Shocking Grasp (25gp)
Cat's Grace (150gp)
Phantom Trap (200gp)
Scorching Ray (150gp)
Stinking Cloud (375gp)
Summon Monster 3 (375gp)

I do note that in order to use the peg leg, you have to be missing one of your own legs.

As a rule, I don't really plan on maiming PCs in such a spectacular manner as they'll need a prosphetic.

As promised, here's details of what info you found while looting the library

Reading over the scavenged books in the Necromancer's library, you find some things of interest, and others of less import. Copies of Elminster's 'On Netheril and Mystra's Ban' and Lazling's 'An Unbiased Biography of Karsus' litter the place, along with various other books that decorate the coffee tables of half-hearted scholars across Faerun, offering no great insight or knowledge.

However, piecing through the scraps, a few more intriguing texts are discovered.

The first is an report by a teacher at this very academy, one Samla Starsong, detailing an excavation she carried out in the fabled Mines of Dekanter. Located on the Eastern slopes of the Gray Peak Mountains, it's quite a distance from your current location, but the mage has provided detailed notes on the areas she investigated, going on about the valuable information she recovered from several ancient magic testing facilities she discovered within the mines - references are made to several spells, such as Nezram's Amethyst Aura, Nezram's Emerald Energy Shield, and Nezram's Sapphire Screen of Shielding, noting that she crafted wands of these same spells for the Academy. Furthermore, it goes on to detail the dangers of the mines, from the titular Dekanter Goblins to more weird and wonderful magical beasts and aberrations, which she speculates to be the results of Netherese experiments.

Secondly, there is a untitled and unfinished tome on Netherese worship, authored by another member of the academy named Birt Vintbel, which in addition to a fairly dry summary of the Netherese pantheon and speculation on the connection between Lathandar and Amaunator, goes on to detail various ruins of old temples. Most seem to be long forgotten dead end after dead end, according to the author, but it does go into some detail on a temple of the Sun God believed to exist on the upper peaks of the Nether Mountains, East of Silverymoon. Sadly the draft ends before Birt could mount an expedition, but he does provide several clues as to its location, along with appearing to be quite confident that it remains at least partially intact - believed to be mostly underground.

The last item of note is a book about the Netherese fortress of Orbdal, situated in the Underdark Southeast of Sundabar on the surface, and North of Ammarindar in the Upperdark. The fortress was constructed during the war with the Phaerimms, shortly before the fall of Netheril, and actually housed a Mythallar to power most of its magical defences - naturally this left the fortress nearly defenceless upon completion of Karsus' Folly. While mostly emptied of artifacts, the redoubt remains a stunningly well preserved example of Netherese architecture, having been taken over by Deep Gnomes in the intervening years, who hold it as their own fortification against their many Underdark enemies. The gnomes are suspicious of outsiders, naturally, but allow access to those they deem trustworthy, and apparently the lower levels of the fortress have remained untouched since the Netherese evacuation, guarded by magical defences independent of the Mythallar which the Svirfneblin have not seen fit to interfere with.

* Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 3972.25-25 and gets 3947.25." EDIT - I nabbed the oil of magic weapon if it wasn't obvious.

So I have 3947 GP from my part of the stash left. Can I purchase potions of any sort in town or other useful items?

I'm grabbing Scorching Ray, Summon Monster 3, and Stinking Cloud, which takes 450 off my gp total, bringing me to 3522.25 gp.

I will then use up party time scribing the following things!

-Into Spellbook-

Scorching Ray (200gp)
Silent Image (100gp)
Alarm (100gp)

-Scrolls-

2 Scrolls of Knock (150gp, 10xp)
1 Scroll of 5th-level Fireburst (125gp, 4xp)

This brings my total profit to 2847.25.

And THEN I bought two potions of CLW, a potion of delay poison, and a potion of remove curse (for 1150 total.)

Bought 3 CMW potions for 900 GP total. This leaves me with
3047.25 GP pending more purchases.
