To eb's plot post:

I'm good for 1 (Goblins, yay) or 2 (Sun temple, yay) more than 3.  But I'll go where party goes.
Well, Goodbye.

Ebiris

[15:04] <Usagi> After a thrilling and danger filled excursion to the ruins of Telruant's Academy of Magic, our brave heroes return to Moonhaven for a chance to rest up and restock before braving its crumbling halls once more. Alas, shortly after arriving in town, Serene is contacted by a mysterious shadowy figure who requests that she return to face the Clan Elders for a mysterious trial.
[15:04] <Usagi> Bidding a fond farewell to her comrades, the slight ninja girl departs, not even sticking around to take a share of the treasure! This gives the remainder even more to sell and enrich themselves, which attracts the attention of a certain brutish mercenary...
[15:06] <Gourash> A massive figure, Gourash is quite ineffectual in hiding his trailing or interest in the party currently heading through town being..unsparing with the gold coins.  Dressed as somewhat of a soldier, he'd been openly watching them for a while before coming closer.  "I'd have a moment, warrior," he grunts at Varul.
[15:06] <Usagi> And so, while Amonet, Alveria, Aramas, and Varul partake of the refreshments offered in the Drunken Dragon on the eve of departing once more, Gourash happens to come to them with a proposition...
[15:09] <Varul> Varul puts down his mug of watery ale, nay, nearly flips it aside in casual disdain. "Yeah," he says, shifting his shoulders under the weight of his chainmail. Not such a weight anymore, especially now. All the work and training in that stupid broken school...mmm!
[15:09] * Aramas raises an eyebrow at the soldier, but continues to stay seated and drink..
[15:10] <Gourash> Gourash unceremonially grabbed a seat, yanking it near and addressing what he saw as the commander of this little troop in his eyes.  "I've noticed your group has done well for itself.  Ruins hunting as so the word says."  His accent was a bit gutteral, clearly not fully human, if his height and mass wasn't enough of a hint.
[15:11] <Varul> "We see it we smash it," Varul drawls out, waving the barkeep over for something a little stronger. "Works well enough, especially when you  have a firebug behind you."
[15:12] <Usagi> As Gourash joins the table, an overweight but pleasantly smiling older barmaid comes over, looking down at Varul. "What can I get you, sonny?" she asks, idly dusting her hands on a somewhat stained apron.
[15:12] * Alveria shuffles a deck of cards, dispirited at the lack of worthy opponents for her mastery of the game. "Hey! We're not going to smash things!" she says, indignantly. "That's just a perk of the job."
[15:12] <Gourash> "Sounds like a solid plan," Gourash remarked, a glint of respect for the clever human.  He liked such plans.  "I was thinking of such business myself," he admitted.
[15:13] <Varul> "Spirits," Varul says absently, stroking his chin and the heavy stubble there. Oi. "You're suited for it. Interested in him, Alveria?" Varul every so lightly banters, raising his eyebrow. "Besides, the smashing part is the best part."
[15:14] <Alveria> "As long as he knows not to smash books," she replies, grousing.
[15:15] <Usagi> The barmaid nods pleasantly. "Anything I can get for the rest of you ladies and gents?" she asks, looking around the rest of the table.
[15:15] * Gourash laughs. "You smash the people, not the loot."
[15:16] <Varul> "Yep. So, you lookin' for something," Leaning back in his chair and turning hisf ull attention to Gourash, "Or just shooting the breeze while Lathander shines outside?"
[15:17] <Gourash> "I be interested in joining your troop, warrior, if you've got room for another axe.  I thinking that a few strong arms be more likely to profit than one..."
[15:18] <Varul> "Hey, Alveria! Interested?" Varul can't quite resist a smirk at that for some reason, but holds his tongue past that.
[15:18] <Gourash> "Your woman?" He guesses crudely.
[15:19] <Alveria> "Well, I- no," she snarls.
[15:19] <Varul> Varul snickers very loudly at that, giving Alveria a sly look. "Oh, don't be like that, woman."
[15:19] <Alveria> "
[15:20] * Gourash laughs along. "Fiesty one. They're more fun."
[15:23] * Gourash laughs harder at that. "Good, good... looking forward to a decent share of loot. The south was never much good workin' for Beorx's ragers."
[10:21] <@Alveria> "Oh, we'll SEE how much effort I put into NOT setting you on fire," she grumbles, signaling the waitress to bring her... anything.
[10:22] * @Varul throws his head back, laughing uproarishly. "Yes, yes, Alveria. She's as hot and burning as her favorite fire spells. Anyway, I don't really care. We lost someone a few days ago who had to go back home, so another arm wouldn't hurt."
[10:22] <@Varul> "Since," A stop as Varul, "We'd need to decide ourselves since we don't have an official party leader or anything."
[10:23] * @Gourash laughs harder at that. "Good, good... looking forward to a decent share of loot. The south was never much good workin' for Beorx's ragers.
[15:25] <Usagi> As the party banter, the barmaid returns, setting down a small glass of what looks like whisky before Varul. Smells like it could strip paint...
[15:26] <Varul> Varul wrinkles his nose with a bit of idle disdain. Well, he did ask for it, so he tries a sip as he waits on the others to speak.
[15:26] <Usagi> OOC: fort save, Varul, just for fun
[15:27] <Alveria> "Whatever!" mutters Alveria, stewing. "I don't care. Same share as everyone else and all that. And when I say 'duck!' I mean it, dammit."
[15:28] * Aramas snorts.
[15:28] <Varul> roll 1d20+7
[15:28] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+7 and gets 21." [1d20=14]
[15:28] <Usagi> Ugh, well, that's something to warm you on cold Northern nights, at least, Varul's chest briefly feels like it's on fire as the liquid goes down his throat. Still, better than watery ale, right?
[15:28] <Aramas> "I, for one, am not adverse to having another in the fore."
[15:28] <Varul> "...mmmm." Yes, yes it is. Putting down the glass, "WAnt me to say you'r ecute when you're angry woman," VArul rumbles as he tries not to laugh outright.
[15:29] * Amonet merely sits quietly, not partaking in the drinking herself.
[15:30] <Gourash> Gourash crossed his arms.  "I am Gourash," he introduced himself.
[15:31] <Aramas> "I am Aramas Dagoren."
[15:32] * Aramas raises his mug slightly in greeting, and goes back to drinking.
[15:33] <Alveria> "My name was already mentioned. If you can't remember it, you're as pathetic as Varul," mutters Alveria. "Give me strength, Kossuth. Give me strength."
[15:33] <Gourash> "Right, woman.  Alva, or something right?" He half joked.
[15:33] <Varul> "Yes, yes," Varul glares back in time, "Though that raises a point - do we need a leader?"
[15:34] * Aramas shrugs.
[15:34] <Amonet> "I go by Amonet," she says, smiling disarmingly at Gourash. "It is quite nice to meet you!"
[15:34] <Aramas> "I see no need one for one, as long as everyone has equal say."
[15:35] <Gourash> "A fragile one...  you look half too young to be on the battle field," He observed bluntly on Amonet.  "But I guess this isn't war," He laughed.  "And everyone starts somewhere."
[15:36] <Amonet> "Perhaps we should spar some day, and see where my place lies?" she asks him sweetly.
[15:36] * Aramas chuckles.
[15:37] <Varul> "She's very strong..." Varul murmurs, sounding half respectful for a moemnt.
[15:37] * Gourash laughs. "Spunky brat."
[15:39] <Usagi> -------
[15:43] <Usagi> The following day, the party depart once more into the foothills of the Nether Mountains. Having already made the journey there and back, it's not a difficult trek at all, this time, even if it does snow a little on the first day - fortunately it's only a small flurry, though perhaps indicative of the Winter to come. Nonetheless, they reach the Academy around midafternoon, with plenty of light still to see by,
[15:44] <Usagi> looking much the same as you left it, from the outside; two buildings and one collapsed tower, the larger building being two storeys tall and with a clearly shattered roof, while the smaller building has a cracked dome over the top of it. Open entrances lead into the Academy proper, while the unexplored building is barred by thick double doors.
[15:44] <Usagi> The grounds themselves are mostly barren, plant life seeming to avoid the area. Only a small well in the North West breaks the monotony.
[15:44] <Gourash> "So this is the spot," Gourash questioned, his pace energetic and firm.
[15:44] <Alveria> "That's right!" pronounces Amonet, wandering over towards the well, and having a peer down.
[15:44] <Alveria> OOC: Alveria.
[15:45] <Alveria> OOC: Good grief.
[15:45] <Varul> "Yep," Varul whips out his sword once, checking it's balance before nodding. "Us two. The Lady Amonet is not quite, ah, suited to such a direct method, and the other two are damn mages."
[15:45] * Gourash yanks out his axe. "Front is fine with me. Less between the axe and the fray."
[15:45] <Usagi> It's dark down there, but Alveria's elven vision lets her see the water perhaps thirty feet down. There's no pulley or winch system to draw any water from the well, however, though some rotten wood beside the well perhaps indicates there once was.
[15:46] * Aramas raises an eyebrow at Varul and lets his power roll over him for a brief moment, his body suddenly covered by rolling purplish flames of hell power.
[15:47] <Varul> Varul raises en eyebrow again, but declining comment seems wise, yes!
[15:47] <Alveria> "Men," snorts Alveria, pointing at the double-doors. "We haven't looked in here, so that's where we're starting."
[15:47] * Gourash growls. "Mages,' He eyed Aramas.
[15:48] * Aramas uses the same power to enact his two visual powers.
[15:48] * Amonet opts to stay close to the pair of mages, intent on making certain nothing comes after them.
[15:48] * Gourash nods and heads to the doors, shoving them forward to try and open them.
[15:48] <Usagi> Aramas can see no invisible beings leap into existence, nor any magic immediately apparent around him.
[15:48] <Usagi> OOC: strength check, Gourash
[15:49] <Gourash> roll 1d20+5 STRENGTH HUH
[15:49] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+5 STRENGTH HUH and gets 22." [1d20=17]
[15:50] <Usagi> *Crack* With a thunderous heave, Gourash blasts the doors open, both splintering noticably as the lock between them shatters, both swinging wildly into the building beyond!
[15:51] <Usagi> roll 1d20-1 zombie reflex save
[15:51] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20-1 zombie reflex save and gets 4." [1d20=5]
[15:51] <Usagi> roll 1d6
[15:51] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d6 and gets 6." [1d6=6]
[15:54] <Usagi> You hear a pained groan and a sickening crunch of wood on flesh from one side of the door, looking inside at what could possibly be a temple or other place of worship, but more importantly are the half dozen zombies in there which look up to the intrusion and begin shambling forward!
[15:54] <Usagi> Most are of the same ilk as you saw previously here, but one is composed of sickly green flesh that radiates a palapable feeling of death and decay, dead eyes glinting with more intelligence than you've normally seen on these types of monsters!
[15:54] <Usagi> OOC: roll init, yeah
[15:54] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5
[15:54] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 and gets 14." [1d20=9]
[15:54] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[15:54] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 3." [1d20=3]
[15:54] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1 slow init!
[15:54] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 slow init! and gets 4." [1d20=3]
[15:54] <Usagi> roll 6#1d20-1
[15:54] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 6#1d20-1 and gets 50." [6#1d20-1 = 17, 17, 6, 3, 6, 1]
[15:54] <Aramas> roll d20+2
[15:54] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+2 and gets 5." [d20=3]
[15:54] <Usagi> roll 1d20
[15:54] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20 and gets 9." [1d20=9]
[15:55] <Varul> roll 1d20+6
[15:55] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+6 and gets 25." [1d20=19]
[15:56] <Varul> OOC - Can I go up to the first zombie, hit it, assumingly kill it and cleave into another?
[15:57] <Usagi> OOC: they're clustered close enough that you could hit one and catch another at the front. The green one is furthest back.
[15:58] <Varul> OOC - Figures. Varul SMAAAASH.
[15:58] <Varul> Loping forward Varul whips his weapon into readiness, going to take the closest zombie and smite like only he can!
[15:58] <Varul> roll 1d20+8 (+2 PA)
[15:58] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+8 (+2 PA) and gets 15." [1d20=7]
[15:58] <Usagi> OOC: damage
[15:58] <Varul> roll 2d6+12 (Cleave?)
[15:58] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 2d6+12 (Cleave?) and gets 18." [2d6=1, 5]
[16:00] <Usagi> OOC: sadly no cleave
[16:00] <Usagi> OOC: wait, sorry. Yes it is.
[16:00] <Usagi> OOC: go for it.
[16:00] <Varul> roll 1d20+8 (+2 PA)
[16:00] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+8 (+2 PA) and gets 19." [1d20=11]
[16:00] <Varul> roll 2d6+12
[16:00] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 2d6+12 and gets 18." [2d6=1, 5]
[16:02] <Usagi> Heading right into the fray, Varul hacks right through the waist of the first zombie by the door, cleaving the undead in half before his blade continues its vicious arc of destruction, bisecting the adjacent zombie in line as well!
[16:03] <Usagi> As Varul recovers from that swing, a zombie emerges from behind the blasted open door, groaning and shambling towards him despite the wood splinters decorating its rotting flesh, bony fists looking to pound into the warrior!
[16:03] <Usagi> roll 1d20+2
[16:03] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+2 and gets 6." [1d20=4]
[16:03] <Usagi> But they only bounce harmlessly off his armour, not doing any harm!
[16:09] * Alveria wants to run forward and burn things! "Amonet! Um, I'll go forward when you do!" she pronounces, hands flickering wildly!
[16:10] <Usagi> As Alveria hesitates, the sickly green zombie shambles forward towards Varul. "Deathhhh..." it hisses through its ruined maw, eyes glinting with otherwordly hatred!
[16:10] <Usagi> OOC: fort save, Varul
[16:10] <Varul> roll 1d20+7
[16:10] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+7 and gets 15." [1d20=8]
[16:11] <Usagi> The rotting stench of decay and vileness that emanates off this zombie is perhaps even worse than the Ghast you faced previously, but Varul is able to keep his wits about him even as it tries to rake him with its viciously clawed hands!
[16:11] <Usagi> roll 1d20+3
[16:11] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+3 and gets 19." [1d20=16]
[16:12] <Usagi> roll 1d6+1
[16:12] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d6+1 and gets 5." [1d6=4]
[16:12] <Usagi> OOC: another fort save, Varul
[16:14] <Varul> roll 1d20+7
[16:14] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+7 and gets 20." [1d20=13]
[16:16] <Usagi> The claws manage to pierce in, even through his armour! With a malicious snarl, the green hued cadaver wrenches its nails out of Varul's flesh, an evil green fog now visibly wafting off the zombie as it withdraws its arm. "Hereticssss!" it hisses viciously, eyes filled with spite as it regards the swordsman!
[16:19] * Aramas forms a blast in his hand and releases it at the green zombie.
[16:19] <Aramas> roll d20+6
[16:19] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+6 and gets 21." [d20=15]
[16:19] <Usagi> OOC: damage
[16:19] <Aramas> roll 2d6
[16:19] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls 2d6 and gets 7." [2d6=2, 5]
[16:20] <Usagi> The zombie hisses angrily as Aramas fires his bolt of purple hellfire, the blast impacting into the side of its stomach below the ribs and knocking off a few chunks of rotting flesh! The vile emerald haze surrounding the undead only seems to intensify as more of its innards are exposed to air, though!
[16:21] <Usagi> Meanwhile, another of the zombies shambles forward, ignoring the battle between Varul and its comrade and instead heading straight for Gourash, fists outstretched!
[16:21] <Usagi> roll 1d20+2
[16:21] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+2 and gets 10." [1d20=8]
[16:21] <Usagi> But they only glance off his armour to no effect!
[16:24] <Gourash> "Get out of my face," He brought his axe down brutally with both hands at the zombie.
[16:24] <Gourash> roll 1d20+8 (2 points to PA)
[16:24] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+8 (2 points to PA) and gets 26." [1d20=18]
[16:25] <Gourash> roll 1d12+12
[16:25] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d12+12 and gets 15." [1d12=3]
[16:26] <Usagi> A mighty overhand swing by the orcish warrior is enough to split the zombie from shoulder to hip, the cadaver falling apart in opposite directions and spilling its innards before Gourash!
[16:26] * Amonet takes a few steps forward, coming to stand parallel to Varul as the holy symbol hanging off her neck shines with the light of the sun! "Oh Horus-Re, let thy might be known to these vile anathema! Burn them with thy cleansing power!"
[16:26] <Amonet> roll 1d20+6
[16:26] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+6 and gets 26." [1d20=20]
[16:26] <Amonet> roll 2d6+6
[16:26] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 2d6+6 and gets 14." [2d6=5, 3]
[16:30] <Usagi> Under the wan Winter sun of the Nether Mountains, Amonet calls upon the power of mighty Horus Re, her holy symbol blazing forth in a corona of light that dispells all darkness around her! The zombies throw up their arms, the green one hissing out a curse before they all crumble to dust before Amonet's righteous piety!
[16:30] <Amonet> "Justice!" Amonet proclaims, posing with her ranseur.
[16:31] <Gourash> "Mmmm...that's all?" Gourash looked around, a touch disappointed.
[16:32] <Amonet> "There must be more further in!"
[16:33] <Alveria> "Further in, that's the ticket," agrees Alveria, briefly casting the armour spell she neglected to cast previous! "It's what we're here for! Let's go!"
[16:33] <Gourash> "Fair enough, Amonet," He growled and headed  in with swift strides, his eyes open for more opportunity as he neglected to put away his large axe.
[16:33] <Varul> Varul checks his wound a moment, wincing as he cleans his sword.
[16:34] <Amonet> "Oh, Sir Varul, you got hurt again!" Amonet exclaims, before her new wand appears in her arms, as if by magic. "Please, allow me to help you!"
[16:34] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1
[16:34] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 and gets 6." [1d8=5]
[16:34] <Usagi> It's a nasty set of five gouges into Varul's chest, blood oozing freely into his armour from the wound.
[16:34] <Usagi> But Amonet's magic does the trick, the wound sealing up perfectly, leaving unblemished skin behind!
[16:35] * Alveria approaches the doors of the building, peering inside!
[16:35] <Varul> "Thanks," Varul nods, ready to press on now, taking high point again!
[16:36] <Usagi> Entering the now zombie-less building, you see it likely was once a temple - there are ruined pews about, as well as an altar up ahead, a headless statue of a woman behind it.
[16:36] <Usagi> OOC: Knowledge religon if you care
[16:36] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5 why not
[16:36] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 why not and gets 10." [1d20=5]
[16:36] <Amonet> roll 1d20+6 we always care!
[16:36] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+6 we always care! and gets 11." [1d20=5]
[16:36] <Alveria> OOC: DAMMIT
[16:37] <Usagi> Unfortunately the trappings of faith are all stolen or desecrated, making it impossible to tell who this was once a shrine to. The only religous symbol you can find is by where the green zombie disintegrated, a cast iron symbol of a jawless skull. But neither Alveria nor Amonet recognise the symbol.
[16:38] * Varul idly wonders..."Is this the same thing as that Velsahroon the necromancer mutters about," he asks.
[16:38] <Usagi> Looking around, Aramas can detect some magic by the South West corner of the temple, on the floor.
[16:39] <Aramas> "I may have found something else, as well.."
[16:39] * Aramas heads over to the corner, peering intently as he goes.
[16:39] <Alveria> "I don't recognize the symbol," admits Alveria, peering at it a moment, before walking to the alter.
[16:40] <Usagi> It's a trap door, somewhat dusty, and bearing a magical glyph similar to the one you saw barring the door to the library before. The spell cast on it seems to be different, however...
[16:41] <Usagi> The altar itself is a grey plinth of unspectacular masonry. It's somewhat chipped and weathered, not seeming especially holy, now, only a sad reminder of things lost.
[16:41] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6
[16:41] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 and gets 10." [1d20=4]
[16:42] <Aramas> roll d20+7 spellcraft
[16:42] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+7 spellcraft and gets 10." [d20=3]
[16:42] <Usagi> Aramas can't identify the magic cast, however, only knowing that its not the same as the last one.
[16:42] <Aramas> "Hmm.. This door here is warded.. But I can't make out the glyph.."
[16:43] <Alveria> "Oh? Let me see," says Alveria, casting Detect Magic herself and walking over to take a look.
[16:44] <Usagi> The glyph radiates conjuration magic.
[16:44] <Alveria> roll 1d20+12
[16:44] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+12 and gets 18." [1d20=6]
[16:45] <Usagi> To Alveria's trained eye, she recognises it as a spell to summon a fiendish outsider. Summon Monster 3, being the specific spell used.
[16:45] * Gourash waits, letting the mages deal with whatever they're messing with.
[16:45] <Alveria> "Oh, for the love of- it's going to summon an outsider when we go through there. Like the hellhound from before, y'know? But if we all stand around it and get ready to hit it when it shows up..."
[16:46] * Aramas grumbles..
[16:46] <Aramas> "Very well, I suppose we shall have to deal with it.."
[16:47] * Amonet winces despite herself at the thought of a flame-breathing dog from hell.
[16:47] <Varul> Varul nods, sword out and ready. "We won't let it get a try."
[16:48] * Amonet takes a few steps back, to be well outside the range of any fiery breath.
[16:48] <Alveria> "Fiendish. Stupid, fire-resistant demonic freaks," mutters Alveria, standing a short distance back from the door.
[16:48] * Gourash nods and gets ready to charge it.
[16:48] <Gourash> "It'll regret answering that call," Gourash grinned.
[16:50] * Amonet casts a spell of heavenly protection around herself, before gripping her ranseur tighter.
[16:52] * Aramas nods to all, and then reaches for the trap door, throwing it open.
[16:53] <Usagi> As soon as Aramas touches the dusty wood, a flash of smoke and smell of brimstone heralds the arrival of a visitor from Baator, a powerfully built black canine with rust-flecked fur appears, growling savagely!
[16:53] <Usagi> OOC: roll init to see what order you go in - surprise round for you guys
[16:53] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[16:53] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 17." [1d20=17]
[16:53] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5
[16:53] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 and gets 21." [1d20=16]
[16:53] <Usagi> roll 1d20+5
[16:53] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+5 and gets 11." [1d20=6]
[16:53] <Varul> roll 1d20+6
[16:53] <Aramas> roll d20+2
[16:53] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+6 and gets 19." [1d20=13]
[16:53] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+2 and gets 18." [d20=16]
[16:53] <Alveria> roll 1d20+4 because I just KNOW it has SR
[16:53] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+4 because I just KNOW it has SR and gets 11." [1d20=7]
[16:54] <Alveria> roll 2d4+2
[16:54] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 2d4+2 and gets 9." [2d4=4, 3]
[16:54] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1 INIT
[16:54] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 INIT and gets 7." [1d20=6]
[16:56] <Alveria> A pair of, sadly, heatless magical bolts twist and whirl around the gathered fights, multicoloured flashing orbs slamming into the beast in an instant!
[16:57] <Usagi> The creature whines as it's hit, ugly welts appearing on its side where they hit, caught unprepared by this sudden attack against its canine personage!
[16:57] <Varul> Varul roars up, sword over his head as he brings it down in one great cleaving attack, looking to end this in one fell swoop!
[16:58] <Varul> roll 1d20+6 (+4 PA)
[16:58] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+6 (+4 PA) and gets 15." [1d20=9]
[16:58] <Usagi> OOC: that hits its flat footed AC. Damage
[16:58] <Varul> roll 2d6+16
[16:58] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 2d6+16 and gets 22." [2d6=5, 1]
[16:59] <Usagi> With a vicious chop, Varul decapitates the hellish dog, the beast's corpse vanishing in another puff of brimstone before the disembodied head even hits the floor!
[17:00] * Amonet relaxes her stance, blinking at the puff of brimstone.
[17:00] <Gourash> "Mmm, this is going easy...  Is it always this way?" Gourash paused his charge, skittering to a stop and grunting as he brought his axe up.
[17:01] * Aramas raises an eyebrow.
[17:01] <Alveria> "Last time, three of us caught a disease, and we almost all died!"
[17:01] <Aramas> "Would you truely complain if it did?"
[17:02] <Alveria> "
[17:02] <Gourash> "Mmm..." He eyed his axe.  "Only if my axe got rusty."
[17:02] <Alveria> "Anyway, let's continue," states Alveria, peering down the trapdoor.
[17:03] * Amonet walks up to Alveria, casting her sight down as well.
[17:03] <Usagi> There's a spiral staircase leading downwards...
[17:04] * Varul follows along, pondering forn ow and keeping an eye out.
[17:04] <Alveria> "Varul and Aramas should go first," discerns Alveria. "Aramas can see if any magic is afoot, after all."
[17:04] <Gourash> "Down we go?" Gourash stood by the stairs.
[17:04] <Alveria> OOC: Down we go. >_>
[17:05] <Usagi> OOC: anyone searching for traps?
[17:05] <Alveria> OOC: This BETTER not be a slide.
[17:06] * Varul looks around at thes tairs as he starts to go down, looking for anything that screams 'shit trap!'.
[17:06] <Usagi> OOC: search check, Varul
[17:06] <Varul> OOC: Wis mod?
[17:06] <Usagi> OOC: int
[17:07] <Varul> roll 1d20+2
[17:07] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+2 and gets 10." [1d20=8]
[17:08] * Alveria mumbles a message-binding spell, linking the party together via telepathic communication!
[17:08] <Usagi> It seems safe, but... Varul was never an expert at this stuff. At least Aramas spots no magic as the pair begin to descend, seeing well enough even as it quite abruptly becomes dark after the first spiral, before...
[17:08] <Usagi> roll 1d4
[17:08] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d4 and gets 3." [1d4=3]
[17:08] <Usagi> roll 1d4
[17:09] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d4 and gets 4." [1d4=4]
[17:09] <Usagi> roll 3#1d20+10
[17:09] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 3#1d20+10 and gets 64." [3#1d20+10 = 13, 25, 26]
[17:09] <Usagi> roll 4#1d20+10
[17:09] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 4#1d20+10 and gets 84." [4#1d20+10 = 25, 15, 24, 20]
[17:10] <Usagi> roll 2d4+2
[17:10] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 2d4+2 and gets 9." [2d4=3, 4]
[17:10] <Usagi> roll 4d4+4
[17:10] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 4d4+4 and gets 15." [4d4=3, 4, 2, 2]
[17:11] <Usagi> As Varul steps down onto one step, he hears a click of a pressure plate being depressed, before a flurry of darts shoot out on either side at himself and Aramas, both being skewered! While Varul's armour protects him some, Aramas takes the worst of it, several darts managing to score quite vicious wounds on the warlock!
[17:12] <Varul> "Dammit!" Varul roars in pain, going to the side of the wall and hopefully out of the path of any more darts. He quickly plucks one out, seeing if there is anything obvious like dripping poison on it.
[17:13] * Aramas sags against the wall and coughs up some blood.
[11:13] <@Usagi> It's steel tipped, but only seems to be coated in blood and nothing else.
[11:13] <@Varul> 'Trap!" Varul calls, wincing again.
[11:14] <@Aramas> 'I am quite hurt.. I need some healing before we continue on.'
[11:14] <@Gourash> 'huh, how am I hearing you?' Gourash was confused.
[11:15] <@Alveria> "It's magic. Don't worry about the details," replies Alveria. "You can just whisper, and we'll all hear what you have to say! It's great, isn't it- er, they're hurt!"
[15:04] <Halbarad> [11:16] <@Amonet> "That's not great!" Amonet protests. "I'll go after them."
[15:05] <Usagi> Amonet descends the spiral staircase after Varul and Aramas, swiftly coming upon the pair after a few turns, her Aasimar darkvision ensuring she has no trouble at all spotting Aramas as he leans against the wall and coughs up blood while Varul picks darts out of his armour.
[15:06] * Aramas weakly raises a hand to Amonet as he catches sight of her.
[15:07] <Amonet> "My, such nasty wounds!" she exclaims, bringing a gauntleted hand to her mouth.
[15:08] * Aramas nods.
[15:08] <Aramas> "I have a potion, if you have not the spells to spare."
[15:09] * Amonet whips out her newly-gained wand, and waves it. "I've got this!"
[15:10] * Gourash follows a few steps behind her, carefully watching for traps that.
[15:10] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 Aramas
[15:10] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 Aramas and gets 8." [1d8=7]
[15:10] <Usagi> Gourash likewise has no difficulty seeing where he's going, his orcish heritage serving him well!
[15:10] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 Varul
[15:10] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 Varul and gets 3." [1d8=2]
[15:11] <Amonet> "The wand likes you more, because you funded most of it," Amonet states with authority to Aramas.
[15:11] <Usagi> Under Amonet's healing magic, both Aramas and Varul feel better, wounds mostly closing up!
[15:11] * Aramas chuckles as he pushes off the wall and smiles in relief at Amonet.
[15:12] <Aramas> "Thank you, Lady Amonet."
[15:12] * Amonet returns the wand to its sheath in her shield, nodding at him.
[15:12] <Varul> "Thanks," Varul says, looking downward and around carefully.
[15:12] <Usagi> With everyone now going down the stairs, Alveria likewise follows Gourash, bringing up the rear of their little procession.
[15:13] <Usagi> The stairs continue to descend, although Varul has trouble seeing more than a few feet ahead thanks to the darkness.
[15:13] <Aramas> "Onwards, then. Varul, would you care to use my lantern?"
[15:15] <Varul> Varul takes the lantern and leads on.
[15:15] * Aramas keeps an eye out for any more runes, wards, or invisible traps or things.
[15:17] <Usagi> The party continues to descend, narrow staircase curving round and round in a spiral before finally opening out into the library where you fought the necromancer previously - from the staircase you can just see the mound of bones where you battled the skeletons, but there is a problem - on the wall right before the stairs open out, Aramas can detect a trace of necromantic magic.
[15:18] <Aramas> "Hmm.. Hold a moment. I can some magic here. Necromancy."
[15:18] * Aramas leads over to the magic and inspects it, trying to figure out what it is.
[15:18] <Usagi> OOC: spellcraft check
[15:18] <Aramas> roll d20+7
[15:18] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+7 and gets 8." [d20=1]
[15:19] <Usagi> It's magic! Durned if you know what it does, though. Still, whoever heard of necromancy being anything good?
[15:19] <Aramas> "Hmm.. I can't tell what it does.. Alveria, give it a try?"
[15:20] * Gourash readied his axe for trouble.
[15:20] * Varul puts the latern down on the floor to shed light, sword at the ready.
[15:21] * Aramas inspects the object that is glowing to his eyes..
[15:21] <Usagi> Alveria nods and casts a spell of Detect Magic before she peers over Gourash's shoulder at the magical effect Aramas is looking at.
[15:22] <Usagi> roll 1d20+12
[15:22] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+12 and gets 18." [1d20=6]
[15:23] <Usagi> "That's a trap," the elf woman states authoritatively. "It's a spell to bestow negative energy on the person that triggers it - the opposite of Amonet's basic healing spell if I'm not mistaken."
[15:24] <Aramas> "Hmm.. Perhaps we could trigger it by throwing one of the corpses upon it?"
[15:25] <Gourash> "Sounds good to me," Gourash agreed.
[15:25] <Amonet> "We need not travel this way, friends," Amonet objects. "We know where this leads, and we can get to the other end without ever triggering the trap."
[15:26] <Aramas> "Have it then. Be sure to have no contact with the body if you do."
[15:27] <Amonet> "But there is no point in triggering the trap," Amonet tries again. "Why must we desecrate the bodies of the fallen further?"
[15:27] <Gourash> "Huh?" Gourash wondered at Amonet.
[15:27] * Aramas shrugs.
[15:28] <Aramas> "It matters not to me, truely."
[15:28] <Gourash> "You know this place," Gourash shrugged. "Whatever, going back?"
[15:29] <Amonet> "Let us take our leave, then, and explore the rest of the ruins," she suggests, visibly relieved, before nodding at Gourash.
[15:31] * Aramas nods and heads towards the next section of the ruins, but waits for one of the warriors to take lead..
[15:32] <Varul> Varul does, keeping quiet and taking the latern again.
[15:32] <Usagi> Ascending back up the staircase, the party finds themselves once more in the desecrated temple, at least no sign of the zombie corpses that were dusted by Amonet's magic. Outside the double doors you can see the rest of the academy, a ruined two storey building of crumbling walls and ruined roof, its main doors shattered and wide open...
[15:38] * Amonet leads the way to the door that was locked from the outside, curious what it holds within.
[15:39] * Gourash matches her pace, following the lead of someone who knows where she's going!
[15:40] <Usagi> Crossing the barren grounds of the academy, Amonet leads the party back into the great hall, ignoring the rooms Serene searched on the East side and descending the Western staircase...
[15:45] * Amonet points out the traps they've encountered on the way earlier to Gourash as they go.
[15:46] <Usagi> Circling around the ruined classrooms and passing by the rooms where they encountered the ghost of Lanis Thautham, the party descends the next staircase, this level still bearing the carrion stink of ghouls and death as they make the short walk to the North facing door, barred on their side...
[15:46] <Gourash> "Mrgh, the undead always leave a mess behind," Gourash noted, not slowing for it.
[15:51] <Amonet> "I will open the door," Amonet informs the others. "In case something is behind it, please be ready."
[15:51] <Gourash> "So there's a nasty behind there?" Gourash asked as he examined it, considering whether to unbar it or flat out bash it into whatever's behind it.
[15:52] * Gourash grunts and gets ready to smash it with his axe. Whatever it happens too be.
[15:52] <Amonet> "That's what we're here to find out," Amonet responds, moving off to the side of the door and sliding the bolt holding it closed to the side.
[15:52] * Aramas prepares a blast..
[15:52] <Usagi> The bolt is a bit stiff, but a good yank loosens it, the door creaking slightly as it swings inwards a few inches now that it's no longer held back.
[15:56] <Amonet> "Sir Aramas, please, cast thy sight inside," Amonet implores him.
[15:57] * Gourash kicks the now free door inward as he proceeds into the room, ready to wail on anything like only a large brute can. "Let's just get it over with."
[15:58] <Usagi> Inside, Gourash finds a large circular room, what looks to be a summoning circle in a lowered area in the centre. The now expected deritrus and junk litters the edges of the room, while the circle itself is charred and ruined - either by the looting of an orcish horde or a summoning gone awry.
[15:58] <Usagi> But at the far edge of the room is something quite out of place - a large burial sarcophagus set upright against the wall, bearing a stylised human figure across the top of it wearing ornate headgear. The room is quite musty and dank, not quite as foul smelling as the ghoul stench outside, but definitely something pervasive and deathly in the air...
[15:58] <Usagi> OOC: spot check, Gourash
[15:58] <Usagi> roll 2#1d20
[15:58] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 2#1d20 and gets 4." [2#1d20 = 1, 3]
[15:58] <Usagi> OOC: actually, don't bother.
[15:58] <Gourash> OOC: Kay! =D
[16:00] <Usagi> Also, the half-orc warrior spots a pair of deathly pale figures in tattered rags skulking about on either side, looking almost skeletal but still covered by stretched white skin, bestial claws for hands and unkempt manes of black hair on their heads. Their eyes glow red with evil intent, poised to attack the one who dares intrude on their sanctum!
[16:00] <Usagi> OOC: initiative go!
[16:00] <Usagi> roll 1d20+1
[16:00] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+1 and gets 6." [1d20=5]
[16:00] <Usagi> roll 1d20+1
[16:00] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+1 and gets 11." [1d20=10]
[16:01] <Varul> Varul growls softly, sword out in an instant and ready to smite!
[16:01] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1 I AM BARBARIAN
[16:01] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 I AM BARBARIAN and gets 4." [1d20=3]
[16:01] <Aramas> roll d20+2
[16:01] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+2 and gets 11." [d20=9]
[16:01] <Varul> roll 1d20+6
[16:01] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+6 and gets 12." [1d20=6]
[16:02] <Usagi> roll 1d20+1 for Alveria
[16:02] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+1 for Alveria and gets 4." [1d20=3]
[16:02] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[16:02] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 6." [1d20=6]
[16:04] <Gourash> "Undead Beasties!" Gourash roared, his axe ready as he warned his companions.
[16:05] <Varul> Varul takes the message, rushing in and sword out as he goes to rend apart the first one!
[16:05] <Varul> roll 1d20+8 (+2 PA)
[16:05] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+8 (+2 PA) and gets 28." [1d20=20]
[16:05] <Usagi> OOC: no crit, but damage it up
[16:05] <Varul> roll 2d6+12
[16:05] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 2d6+12 and gets 19." [2d6=6, 1]
[16:07] <Usagi> Varul's sword cuts a deep gash into the undead creature, vile black blood being spilt freely as ut buckles but remains upright, claws coming right back at Varul as it defends itself!
[16:07] <Usagi> roll 1d20+4
[16:07] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+4 and gets 21." [1d20=17]
[16:08] <Usagi> roll 1d4+1
[16:08] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d4+1 and gets 4." [1d4=3]
[16:08] <Usagi> OOC: fort save, Varul
[16:08] <Varul> roll 1d20+7
[16:08] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+7 and gets 16." [1d20=9]
[16:09] * Aramas releases the blast he had ready at the creature Varul is fighting.
[16:09] <Usagi> The creature's claws cut a gash into Varul's shoulder, the warrior feeling a chill of the grave course through him! But his stout constitution allows him to shrug off the worst of it!
[16:09] <Aramas> roll d20+6
[16:09] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+6 and gets 24." [d20=18]
[16:10] <Aramas> roll 2d6
[16:10] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls 2d6 and gets 7." [2d6=6, 1]
[16:11] <Usagi> A bolt of screaming purple hellfire erupts from Aramas' outstretched palm, slamming into the undead creature's chest and sending it tumbling back to the floor, ribs and decaying organs exposed to air!
[16:12] <Usagi> Meanwhile the remaining undead shows no hesitation or care for its health, an ear-splitting cry of "WRRRRYYY!" erupting from its throat as it leaps at Gourash with a double-fisted hammer blow onto his head!
[16:13] <Usagi> roll 1d20+6
[16:13] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+6 and gets 15." [1d20=9]
[16:13] <Amonet> "Flee in the name of Horus-Re the ever-glowing!" Amonet proclaims, stepping forward with her holy symbol clutched tightly in her hand.
[16:13] <Usagi> But it misses, fists just whiffing the half-orc's head and instead bouncing worthlessly against the pauldrons of his breastplate!
[16:13] <Amonet> roll 1d20+6
[16:13] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+6 and gets 11." [1d20=5]
[16:14] <Usagi> Alas, down in the dank dungeon and away from the light of the sun, Amonet's faith can't quite seem to reach Horus Re, her holy symbol only glittering faintly without giving their foe the slightest pause!
[16:17] * Gourash swings his axe around overhead, finally completing a several rotation circuit before bringing it downwards at the nearby wraith.
[16:17] <Gourash> roll 1d20+8 (+2 PA)
[16:17] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+8 (+2 PA) and gets 24." [1d20=16]
[16:17] <Gourash> roll 1d12+12
[16:17] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d12+12 and gets 13." [1d12=1]
[16:19] <Usagi> The axe scores a glancing hit, but Gourash's prodigous strength allows him to follow through and carve off a long strip of flesh down the creature's thigh, black blood spattering from the wound as Alveria mutters a brief incantation before snapping her fingers, a pair if irridescent bolts of energy lancing out at the wounded creature!
[16:19] <Usagi> roll 2d4+2
[16:20] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 2d4+2 and gets 10." [2d4=4, 4]
[16:20] <Usagi> Both slam into the wight, making it buckle and gurgle in pain, yet somehow it manages to stay upright, hissing furiously!
[16:21] <Varul> Turning in a fury of battlelust against these disgusting abominations, Varul growls low in his throat as he runs over to end the life of the the other undead menace!
[16:21] <Varul> roll roll 1d20+10
[16:21] <Varul> roll 1d20+10
[16:21] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+10 and gets 20." [1d20=10]
[16:21] <Varul> roll 2d6+8
[16:21] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 2d6+8 and gets 16." [2d6=4, 4]
[16:22] <Usagi> Skewering the monster's stomach with his greatsword, Varul rips the blade out in a shower of black blood and ichor, messily dismembering the fell animated corpse!
[16:25] <Varul> Varul rips his sword out from the monster's flesh, resting it against the ground as he takes a few breaths. Fuckers.
[16:25] * Aramas fully enters into the room, gazing around it and looking for anythiing standing out to his eyes.
[16:26] <Usagi> Aramas can see magic on the sarcophagus!
[16:26] * Gourash looks around, almost disappointed by the lack of bloodshed.
[16:26] <Aramas> "The sarcophagus is enchanted.. Give me a moment.."
[16:26] * Aramas approaches it and inspects it, once again trying to figure out the magic on it.
[16:26] <Usagi> OOC: spellcraft
[16:27] <Aramas> roll d20+7
[16:27] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+7 and gets 26." [d20=19]
[16:27] <Usagi> It's a glyph of warding - this necromancer sure liked that spell, didn't he? It's set to discharge a blast of fiery energy when disturbed.
[16:28] <Aramas> "Warding Glyph.. Again."
[16:29] <Aramas> "Anyone wish to try their luck?"
[16:29] * Gourash picks up one of the dead monsters and flings it at the glyph from a distance.
[16:29] * Amonet blinks at that.
[16:31] <Usagi> roll 2d8
[16:31] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 2d8 and gets 10." [2d8=7, 3]
[16:31] <Usagi> roll 1d20+3
[16:31] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+3 and gets 8." [1d20=5]
[16:33] <Usagi> The corpse bounces wetly off the sarcophagus, and the glyph vanishes from Aramas' sight! While there's no visible effect on the outside, a muffled noise of pain is heard from within, and the sarcophagus begins to shake!
[16:33] <Usagi> roll 1d20+7
[16:33] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+7 and gets 13." [1d20=6]
[16:33] <Usagi> But shake is all it does! Some smoke also visible from the top of it!
[16:33] <Aramas> "That did it.. The glyph is gone, but whatever is in there, isn't happy.."
[16:34] <Gourash> "Well, then we'll smash it," Gourash nodded. "It tends to work."
[16:34] <Amonet> "I would not be happy either in its place," Amonet agrees, readying her ranseur.
[16:34] <Usagi> roll 1d20+7
[16:34] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+7 and gets 11." [1d20=4]
[16:35] * Aramas steps to the side a bit, and half bows, holding his hands out towards the sarcophagus.
[16:35] <Aramas> "Proceed, sir."
[16:35] <Usagi> As the party readies themselves, the sarcophagus continues to jostle as if someone were beating their fists against the lid from inside, but it refuses to budge further!
[16:36] * Amonet prays for Horus-Re to look upon her with favor.
[16:36] <Varul> Varul just gets ready, creeping a bit to the side to unleash a vicious flanking side attack if need be.
[16:36] * Gourash stands beside it, axe ready to cut whatever's in it apart as soon as the lid moves.
[16:37] <Usagi> roll 1d20+7
[16:37] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+7 and gets 19." [1d20=12]
[16:37] * Aramas steps back, preparing a sphere of hell power..
[16:38] <Usagi> Gourash and Varul take up flanking positions, while the sarcophagus jostles itself, the lid straining visibly for a moment at one particularly hard thud against it!
[16:38] * Amonet swishes her wand at Varul, not taking her eyes off the sarcophagus.
[16:38] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1
[16:38] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 and gets 9." [1d8=8]
[16:39] <Usagi> After this, the sarcophagus stops moving, whatever lies inside it seeming to have gotten tired of beating its head against what amounts to a brick wall...
[16:43] <Gourash> "It seems to have given up...  can one of you yank it off?  Let's crush it."
[16:43] <Usagi> As Gourash asks his question, there's another burst of activity from within!
[16:43] <Usagi> roll 1d20+7
[16:43] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+7 and gets 10." [1d20=3]
[16:43] <Amonet> "Why do you not merely crush it inwards, hitting both of our birds with one stone, so to speak?" Amonet asks him in turn.
[16:44] <Usagi> But all for naught, the sarcophagus only shuddering with the frenzied motion of whomever is trapped inside!
[16:46] <Varul> "Shall one of us open it," Varul asks at last, listening to the sound of whatever is int here.
[16:47] <Usagi> Whatever's in there doesn't sound pleased, thudding against the interior and making unhappy sounding groans!
[16:47] <Usagi> roll 1d20+7
[16:47] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+7 and gets 21." [1d20=14]
[16:48] * Gourash moves behind it, lowering his axe and grabbing the lid with both hands, yanking hard to yank it out of the way.
[16:48] <Gourash> roll 1d20+5 hoo-hah!
[16:48] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+5 hoo-hah! and gets 17." [1d20=12]
[16:50] <Usagi> Suddenly, with a resounding *crack* the lid splinters, a bandage wrapped fist bursting out just as Gourash leans over the sarcophagus!
[16:50] <Usagi> "Who disturbs my slumber!" a thoroughly pissed off sounding voice intones, deep and yet scratchy, the voice of one who has not spoken in years if not decades! Pushing aside the the shattered remains of the lid, a six foot tall figure wrapped in decaying bandages with blackened skin showing beneath and dusty gold jewellery atop emerges!
[16:55] <Amonet> "As your fell master before you, your fate is to leave this plane of existence, evil creature!" Amonet proclaims, pointing at it with her ranseur.
[16:55] * Gourash grabs at his axe, preparing to attack.
[16:56] * Aramas releases the sphere he had ready and floating in his hand.
[16:56] <Varul> "Enough of these things!" Varul snarls, greatsword flashing out to try to sever this mummy apart!
[16:56] <Varul> roll 1d20+10
[16:56] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+10 and gets 30." [1d20=20]
[16:57] <Aramas> roll d20+6
[16:57] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+6 and gets 26." [d20=20]
[16:57] <Usagi> OOC: both hit, damage
[16:57] <Aramas> roll 2d6
[16:57] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls 2d6 and gets 7." [2d6=2, 5]
[16:57] <Varul> roll 2d6+8
[16:57] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 2d6+8 and gets 13." [2d6=3, 2]
[16:59] <Usagi> Aramas' fell magic and Varul's greatsword both find their mark, the eldritch hellfire scorching the Mummy's bandaged form while Varul hacks into its flank! Yet he finds more resistance than he'd expect to his blow, unable to capitalise fully on the strike!
[16:59] <Usagi> OOC: initiative
[16:59] <Usagi> roll 1d20
[16:59] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20 and gets 20." [1d20=20]
[16:59] <Usagi> roll 1d20+1 for Alveria
[16:59] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1 I won't beat that
[16:59] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 I won't beat that and gets 2." [1d20=1]
[16:59] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+1 for Alveria and gets 3." [1d20=2]
[16:59] <Aramas> roll d20+2
[16:59] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+2 and gets 9." [d20=7]
[17:00] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[17:00] <Varul> roll 1d20+6
[17:00] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 9." [1d20=9]
[17:00] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+6 and gets 25." [1d20=19]
[17:01] <Varul> REacting like the wind, Varul brings his sword around to dissect this abominatino at the source!
[17:01] <Varul> roll 1d20+8 (+2 PA)
[17:01] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+8 (+2 PA) and gets 15." [1d20=7]
[17:01] <Usagi> Varul makes a powerful attack, yet his sword can't quite find its mark, only slicing off a few bandages and leaving the mummified flesh beneath untouched!
[17:03] <Usagi> "Avel Ilhussein serves no master!" the mummy gets out in its scratchy voice, bandage-wrapped fist swinging out to cold-cock Varul!
[17:03] <Usagi> roll 1d20+11
[17:03] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+11 and gets 31." [1d20=20]
[17:03] <Usagi> roll 1d20+11 threat
[17:03] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+11 threat and gets 21." [1d20=10]
[17:03] <Usagi> roll 2d6+20
[17:03] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 2d6+20 and gets 29." [2d6=3, 6]
[17:03] <Usagi> OOC: fort save. Ouch.
[17:04] <Varul> roll 1d20+7
[17:04] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+7 and gets 19." [1d20=12]
[17:05] <Usagi> Gods, this thing hits like a freight train or whatever the Faerunian equivalent is, Varul knocked for six by the powerful punch to his chin, a painful sounding crack coming from his jaw as it's probably dislocated by the force put behind the Mummy's fist!
[17:05] * Aramas summons and releases another dark purple, roiling sphere of demonic hatred.
[17:06] <Aramas> roll d20+6
[17:06] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+6 and gets 24." [d20=18]
[17:06] <Aramas> roll 2d6
[17:06] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls 2d6 and gets 4." [2d6=3, 1]
[17:06] * Varul staggers back, clock cleaned and eyes a blurred mess after that blow. Healing, yes. Potion...ow...
[17:06] <Usagi> Aramas' attack finds its mark. scorching yet more of the Mummy's bandaged flesh yet failing to give the undead guardian even the faintest pause!
[17:09] <Amonet> "Horus-Re, cleanse thee this unclean being!" Amonet calls out, striking at the mummy with her polearm before retreating a few steps.
[17:09] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[17:09] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 24." [1d20=16]
[17:10] <Amonet> roll 2d4+6
[17:10] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 2d4+6 and gets 9." [2d4=1, 2]
[17:10] <Usagi> Amonet's ranseur cuts into the Mummy's shoulder on her downstroke, yet she finds it hard to penetrate more than a few inches into its solid flesh, not striking for as much as she thinks she should have!
[17:11] <Usagi> "Ahh, you're all too close to it! These things are hurt by fire!" Alveria complains, unable to risk using one of her fiery attacks for fear of hitting Gourash and Varul, and instead firing off a pair of magic missiles instead!
[17:11] <Usagi> roll 2d4+2
[17:11] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 2d4+2 and gets 7." [2d4=2, 3]
[17:12] <Usagi> The Mummy flinches at the blows, but still seems to have plenty of fight in it, yet!
[17:12] * Gourash growls, seeing the strength behind the blow that smacked into Varul and lashing out as he finally grabs his axe, swinging upwards in a powerful blow.
[17:13] <Gourash> OOC: Raging.  +8 hp, +4 str, +4 con, +2 will, -2 AC.  5 rounds.
[17:13] <Gourash> roll 1d20+10 (+2 PA, please hit)
[17:13] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+10 (+2 PA, please hit) and gets 23." [1d20=13]
[17:14] <Gourash> roll 1d12+15
[17:14] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d12+15 and gets 27." [1d12=12]
[17:16] <Usagi> With a terrific blow, the raging half-orc barbarian bisects his axe right up the Mummy from groin to neck, injuring it terribly! As dust and decaying flesh spills forth from its shredded bandages, the tomb guardian still manages to remain upright, despite being savagely wounded!
[17:17] * Varul falls back and takes one of his handy healing potions out, gulping down nice restorative energy magical potion!
[17:17] <Varul> roll 2d8+3
[17:17] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 2d8+3 and gets 8." [2d8=1, 4]
[17:17] <Usagi> Stepping out of range, Varul is able to avoid being attacked as he lowers his guard to tend to his injuries!
[17:18] * Gourash growls in rage at the undead creature.
[17:19] <Usagi> Meanwhile the Mummy focuses its attention on Gourash, still sprightly enough to come out swinging at the raging barbarian!
[17:19] <Usagi> roll 1d20+11
[17:19] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+11 and gets 26." [1d20=15]
[17:19] <Usagi> roll 1d6+10
[17:19] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d6+10 and gets 16." [1d6=6]
[17:19] <Usagi> OOC: fort save
[17:21] <Gourash> roll 1d20+7
[17:21] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+7 and gets 21." [1d20=14]
[17:22] <Usagi> Ooof! Even in his berserk state, Gourash felt that one, his head ringing from the blow as his ears are boxed, pulverising his flesh with the impact! He's lucky not to have his skull cracked by that one.
[17:22] * Aramas snaps out his arm, again launching a rolling purple shpere of fury.
[17:22] <Aramas> roll d20+6
[17:22] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+6 and gets 9." [d20=3]
[17:23] <Usagi> Aramas' bolt of hellish fury goes awry, only spending its might against the stone sarcophagus instead of its former occupant!
[17:23] <Amonet> "Accept your ultimate fate!" Amonet intones, giving her ranseur a twirl before stabbing at the mummy.
[17:23] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[17:23] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 17." [1d20=9]
[17:24] <Usagi> Sadly Amonet's attack is in vain, the blade of her ranseur whiffing the air between the Mummy's arm and its torso!
[17:24] <Usagi> Alveria hangs back, biting her lip worriedly. "I can't do anything if you're all so close to it!" the wizard frets.
[17:25] * Gourash growls wrathfully, leaping at the creature, the powerful blow not enough to still his wrath as he brought his axe downward, seeking to rend the creature apart.
[17:26] <Gourash> roll 1d20+12 (+2 PA)
[17:26] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+12 (+2 PA) and gets 17." [1d20=5]
[17:26] <Usagi> OOC: Varul isn't providing flanking anymore, btw, so you don't get the +2. But that misses, anyway
[17:26] <Gourash> OOC: ouch ouch
[17:28] <Usagi> While Gourash's axe finds its mark, the berserk warrior fails to strike cleanly enough, his axe being turned aside by the Mummy's decaying yet hard flesh! A groan if incoherent fury is his reply as the Mummy tries to bash him once more in return, a powerful punch into his exposed stomach!
[17:28] <Usagi> roll 1d20+11
[17:28] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+11 and gets 22." [1d20=11]
[17:28] <Usagi> roll 1d6+10
[17:28] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d6+10 and gets 16." [1d6=6]
[17:29] <Usagi> OOC: strike the mummy's attack!
[17:29] <Varul> Varul grits his teeth in agony - but it looks like it's time to shine! Rushing forward in a charge, Varul tries to finish off this hellish mummy for good!
[17:29] <Varul> roll 1d20+10 (+2 PA)
[17:29] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+10 (+2 PA) and gets 13." [1d20=3]
[17:30] <Usagi> A whiff, Varul's sword only cleaving the air above the Mummy's head as his swing goes errant! Meanwhile, the undead doesn't even acknowledge his presence, only focusing on Gourash to deliver a punishing fist into his stomach!
[17:31] <Usagi> roll 1d20+11
[17:31] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d20+11 and gets 25." [1d20=14]
[17:31] <Usagi> roll 1d6+10
[17:31] * Hatbot --> "Usagi rolls 1d6+10 and gets 12." [1d6=2]
[17:31] <Usagi> OOC: fort save
[17:31] <Gourash> roll 1d20+7 I AM ORC
[17:31] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+7 I AM ORC and gets 21." [1d20=14]
[17:32] * Aramas snaps his other arm out, letting another sphere fly.
[17:32] <Aramas> roll d20+6
[17:32] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+6 and gets 15." [d20=9]
[17:32] <Usagi> The mighty orc's breastplate crumples under the force of the blow, impacting fiercely into his stomach and knocking the wind out of him!
[17:32] <Aramas> roll 2d6
[17:32] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls 2d6 and gets 9." [2d6=6, 3]
[17:33] <Usagi> This time the roiling sphere of purple hatred finds its mark, splashing into the Mummy's face and disintegrating half of its head! Finally having taken enough punishment, the bandage wrapped undead collapses, black flesh beginning to turn to dust as the magic animating it finally gives up the ghost!

Ebiris

[17:34] <Varul> Varul proptly falls to his kneels, huffing out air and clearly in pain. "By Lathander, accursed beastly asshole," he mutters aloud.
[17:35] * Aramas breathes a sigh of relief, and then gets to looking over the corpse, checking for loot and anything that stands out to his eyes..
[17:35] <Usagi> There's a fair deal of gold and jade jewellery that was decorating the corpse, as well as a golden scarab that radiates faint necromancy to Aramas' eyes...
[17:36] * Aramas eyes the scarab, trying to figure out what it is before picking it up..
[17:36] <Amonet> "Justice prevails!" Amonet declares, before exchanging her weapon for her wand.
[17:36] <Usagi> Alas, Aramas can't cast Identify.
[17:36] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 Varul
[17:36] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 Varul and gets 6." [1d8=5]
[17:36] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 Varul2
[17:36] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 Varul2 and gets 8." [1d8=7]
[17:37] * Gourash grunts as shortly after his rage disappates, leaning heavily on his axe as he carefully checked his torso for broken bones.
[17:37] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 Varul3
[17:37] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 Varul3 and gets 8." [1d8=7]
[17:37] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 Gourash
[17:37] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 Gourash and gets 3." [1d8=2]
[17:37] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 Gourash2
[17:37] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 Gourash2 and gets 4." [1d8=3]
[17:37] <Varul> "Thank you," Varul stands upright, stretching his body out before goingt o peek into the coffin.
[17:37] <Usagi> Gourash might have a cracked rib, but Amonet soon fixes that!
[17:37] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 Gourash3
[17:37] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 Gourash3 and gets 3." [1d8=2]
[17:37] <Amonet> "The wand only likes those who pay for it," Amonet says apologetically, stowing it away for the time being.
[17:38] * Aramas collects the loot, handling the scarab carefully.
[17:38] <Usagi> Looking inside the coffin, Varul doesn't see much - looks like the Mummy was wearing all of its grave goods.
[17:38] <Aramas> "Only the Scarab has magic on it."
[17:38] * Varul takes a moment to inspect it closely, curious and a little creeped out by the entire thing.
[17:39] * Gourash grunts his thanks, stretching a bit and adjusting his armor that'd been smashed up protecting him.
[17:39] <Usagi> It's a golden scarab with a clasp where it can be affixed to clothing. They're fairly common magical items, analogous to a periapt or necklace, really. Generally more common in the South and East than up here, though.
[17:41] <Varul> Varul hangs back for the moment, idly taking the time to look about the room while the other sloot.
[17:41] <Usagi> OOC: search check if that's what you're doing
[17:43] <Varul> roll 1d20+1
[17:43] * Hatbot --> "Varul rolls 1d20+1 and gets 8." [1d20=7]
[17:44] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[17:44] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 1." [1d20=1]
[17:44] * Aramas sighs, and goes to inspect the sarcophagus, wanting to try and figure out how such a thing came to be in this area..
[17:45] <Usagi> OOC: knowledge religon or nobility if you have it, Aramas
[17:46] <Aramas> roll d20+3
[17:46] * Hatbot --> "Aramas rolls d20+3 and gets 19." [d20=16]
[17:46] * Gourash waits guarding the way out.
[17:46] <Usagi> Looking around the room, Varul doesn't find much besides the usual junk and debris now quite common to this ruin. Nothing that's worth the trouble of even picking up, really...
[17:47] <Usagi> Looking over the sarcophagus, Aramas identifies it as being a Calishite noble's tomb. Certainly it is a long way from home, since that's on the other side of Faerun...
[17:48] <Aramas> "Hmm.. Calishite.. How would a Calishite sarcophagus make it's way here?"
[17:48] * Varul keeps himself busy by walking the circular room's edge, checking the walls out as he goes, looking for anything amiss.
[17:48] <Amonet> "Magic?" Amonet voices, shrugging.
[17:50] <Usagi> Varul finds some mold and slime on the walls, but that's not too amiss given that you're underground. It is quite dank down here, after all.
[17:51] <Aramas> "What was his name? Ilhussain? Hmm.. Perhaps I might research into this.. If he has a family line still in existance, they would perhaps like to know.."
[17:51] <Amonet> "Where to next?" Amonet asks then, glancing around expectantly.
[17:51] * Varul sniffs the air, wondering if the smell of death has faded at all.
[17:52] <Usagi> It still smells pretty vile. Even if the Mummy turned to dust, those two Wights are still bleeding out all over the floor.
[17:52] <Gourash> "Family line?" Gourash snorted at this, not really bothered by the smell.
[17:53] <Varul> Varul goes quiet, "Where to now," he asks, coming back around.
[17:53] <Aramas> "Alveria, when we leave, be so kind as to lite those bodys? I would think the smell should attract unsavory things."
[17:55] <Usagi> "Of course," the elf nods. "I'm always happy to burn things in the cause of justice!"
[17:56] <Aramas> "I believe we have looked through everything of note.. A trip back to where we met our ghost, perhaps?"
[17:57] * Gourash shrugs. "Something else to kill?"
[17:58] <Usagi> Alveria waits for the others to file out before burning up the Wights with her burning hands spell!
[17:58] * Varul follows along, tired and ready to go.
[17:59] * Aramas heads back to where he met the ghost.
[18:00] <Usagi> Heading up to the first basement, Aramas makes his way into the sleeping quarters where they were accosted by a ghost, previously. No sign of any activity since they were last here, nor any incorporeal undead, however...
[18:01] <Aramas> "Hmm.. Well, then. Back to the town and then onwards?"
[18:01] <Gourash> "Onwards to where?  Though a stop in the town sounds good."
[18:01] <Aramas> "That would best be decided over a good meal, I would imagine."
[18:02] <Amonet> "Visiting a temple to the sun god is always a pleasant way to pass the time," Amonet muses out loud.
[18:02] <Varul> "It is," Varul agrees quickly there, "That interests me."
[18:03] <Varul> 'Unlike Alv..hmph.' Keeping his inner thoughts where they should belong, Varul keeps an eye out as they walk along.
[18:04] <Usagi> As the party discusses their next move, a faint whisper sounds behind Aramas, a dryly amused chuckle as a luminescent blue figure appears. "Had your fill, vultures?" the spectre asks, taking the form of a young human in wizardly robes.
[18:04] * Aramas turns to him with a raised eyebrow.
[18:04] <Varul> "Yep. Anything else lurking that needs extermination by the buzzards?" Varul asks, but otherwise steps back. Magic ghost thing, so note his forte.
[18:05] <Aramas> "Perhaps. Is there more to be had?"
[18:05] * Gourash turns and swings his axe to the ready, only not cutting the ghost down by virtue of his talking compatriots.
[18:05] <Usagi> "You have granted a second death to all save one in this place," Lanis returns, sketching a bow towards Varul. "For that I thank you."
[18:06] <Aramas> "Hmm.. Where would this last one be? No sense in not finishing our work."
[18:06] <Varul> Oh damn it. Can't ignore that! "What about you," Varul grunts gruffly, arms crossed.
[18:08] <Usagi> Lanis raises an eyebrow. "Appearances can be decieving..." he notes, ignoring Aramas to focus on Varul, now. "Worry not for me, swordsman. I shall remain..."
[18:09] <Varul> "Why?" Varul shakes his head at that, "Go rest or whatever waits past this. Lady Amonet could help you with that. This is just an old ruin now."
[18:11] <Usagi> "I believe it beyond her power to relieve me of existence on the Prime Material," Lanis replies, an apologetic look towards the cleric. "No offence."
[18:12] <Amonet> "None taken," she responds. "I could come back later, though."
[18:13] <Usagi> "Perhaps," he nods, stroking his chin. "A powerful cleric of a kind deity may see fit to grant me rest, one day... I have waited long, and can wait longer still, though."
[18:14] <Aramas> "Perhaps, Amonet, you could request from one of the local temples for them to dispatch someone able to release him to his beyond."
[18:15] * Amonet inclines her head to Aramas in lieu of response.
[18:15] * Gourash shrugs, seeming disinterested in the ghost's plight. Not a very empathetic fellow.
[18:16] <Usagi> "Then I would be further in your debt," Lanis bows his head.
[18:17] <Aramas> "You could, perhaps, repay us by ceasing your attempts to sharpen the rough side of your tongue upon us."
[18:17] * Aramas smirks at the ghost slightly.
[18:18] <Varul> "Good luck," Varul says quietly, resting against the wall.
[18:20] <Usagi> "Forgive the dead what harmless amusements we may take," Lanis replies dryly to Aramas. "But I believe that is all. Farewell... vultures." And with that pithy last word, the ghost vanishes into the ether.
[18:20] * Aramas smirks wider and chuckes to himself.
[18:21] <Aramas> "Let us leave to see to the arrangements for our.. friend."

Ebiris

As a note, if you want to send a cleric to put Lanis to rest, the Temple of Selune will gladly send one of its more experienced brethren out into the wilds on a perilous journey to do just that, all for the low low price of 400gp.

Could we get a discount if we escort them safely?

Anastasia

Cool. I'll take a bit of interPC initiative here:

Are we interested in paying for that now? Also, what about the list of magical items over in the Geography topic? Most of them are too pricey for us in general alone, but are we interested in shelling out for any as a group purchase? I'm interested in Spellcleaver as a mageslayer weapon but it's expensive as fuck. Those Boots of the North could be handy in this campaign as well, and I'm debating borrowing from Iddy to spring for 'em.

Amaras lent me the GP for the boots. Barring anyone having a better suggestion I'm going to get 'em.

I'm tempted by the rhino hide, primarily as it'd make a good base for charging shit, but I only have enough likely to get halfway there.

My vote goes to the mines!

Alright, so I misread the thing, and they might not be packing wands there.

They're still packing SPELLS.

Spells that should be mine

(Actually, the third place contains a Mythal, I suspect. I really WANT it but hey, maybe after we're less likely to die. >_>)

Query: Re sending that poor mage.

Are we going to shell out for that or backseat it? If we go along, are wegoing to RP it out in that case?

<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Carthrat

I don't mind pitching in for it. Not much for me to RP there, though, so I don't care about that either way.

If you guys do shell out for it, I'd rather not RP it even if you do go along in order to save 50gp. I'll summarise what happens in post form here.

Also, I'd appreciate it to have a consensus on what you're doing next before next session, since it lets me know which adventure to prep (admittedly you're going to spend that session travelling regardless of which you pick, but I have a few different things in mind depending on where you're headed).

Dracos

Gourash doesn't see the point of helping dead human mage thing.  Gourash sees no party profit.  Gourash isn't too bright, but prolly wouldn't contribute as it doesn't bring profit back in within an easily visible margin of stuff.

Well, Goodbye.

I vote that we go for it. If need be I'll toss in something minor or make an IOU to help fund it since I'm broke.
