Hey, remember the 80s?

More specifically, growing up in the 80s.

An excellent period film.  Acting isn't so great, but it's suitable for the length of the movie, and the price of admission is spot-on.

I learned this week that elephants hear with their legs.

Really? O.o Do they feel sound vibrations through the earth or something?

Yeah, more or less.

The context is hearing distance stomping and calling warning of predators.

They have specialized nerve structures in their leg that, it is hypothesized, help detect the vibrations.  Their ears also have bone structures to allow them to 'hear' low-frequency sounds clearly at a remarkable distance.
