Due to technical difficulties, here is a message from our resident rodent.

'The RPG is starting tomorrow. The players have been allocated as follows:

Meiji Arc (Rat = DM)

Shade
Bean
Ryder
Kwok
Xman

Space Arc (Bean = GM)

Calendar
Ginn

The RPG starts on Monday, 4:30, GMT + 10. The Meiji arc kicks off then, and the Space Arc will kick off a few hours later, when Bean gets on.

So everyone knows, in two weeks, I'll be going away for three weeks. My internet access will be sporadric at best. As such, we're mainly concentrating on furthering the Meiji Arc. When I leave, it'll proceed according to my net access, and Bean will put more effort into the Space Arc.

Any problems, check with management.

UPDATE 02/07/2002

Just fiddling around with post management.

Bean, is awake the same time most of you are (in general- his odd working hours sometimes work against him), but I am not.

I get home at 4:00pm GMT +10, which, to those of you who havn't discovered the 'Time Zone' function (CHeck your system clock at the bottom right, people), is 2:00am EST.

If you want to catch me, you'll need to be awake around then.

Weekends are a whole different matter, of course, but we'll take that as it comes. I'll update posts as soon as I get a chance each day, though.

Now, on to RP stuff!

Upon first contact, each of you are afflicted with a slight personality merge. This could result in a personality clash, the most obvious of which will be myself.

Anyway, you'll notice the heaviest feeling your character is feeling, and a slight change in ethics and personality towards them.

i.e. Bean becomes sentimental and slightly attracted to Kenshin, Rez will speak less and be to the point (thank god), and Calendar... let's not go into Calendar.

We're also PMing you skill sets. If you havn't recieved yours, tell us.

UPDATE  5/9/2002

Ok, no more posting in the announcements folder. I'll leave the messages here so you two can take more swipes at each other, but do it in the OOC room.

Second, note the little icon next to Announcements has changed. Each time I update this post, it will continue to do so.

Third, character merging should take place at roughly the same rate Bean is with Kaoru. You can take it slower if you want. The more you merge with your character, the more useful abilities of their's you get..

UPDATE 8/9/2002

As I'm sure many of you know by now, Bean's computer is... fucked up.

Because of this, he simply *can't* access his arc to DM it and continue the plot.

He's suggested that I take over the Space Arc until he gets back, but being the fact that I'm going away in three weeks anyway, and don't have a clue what he's planning, that's probably not the smartest option.

Therefore, sorry to the Space people, but you'll just have to wait. If popular demand makes it so, I'll throw up an Omake so you at least have something to do.

Ahem.

The day draws near! I am LEAVING in FOUR DAYS!

Which sticks the RPG with no constant DM for three weeks. I will, of course, get on as often as I can, but that'll be sporadric at best.

Detail your posts while I'm gone: I don't know if I'll have AIM or mIRC, and I want to know *everything* you do.

And one last thing. The OMAKE!

Me and Bean pick your characters. You guys pick ours. PM me when you reach a decision. Discuss it amongst yourselves, as I'm taking the first answer to reach my box.

Do your worst! We'll be doing the same to you.

With an mind-boggling score of -10. Yes, I am keeping score of my players! Hah! Hah! Hah! The highest score score currently held is 6, and that's pretty good, considering how early the game is.

Download these tracks, then listen to them once! That way, you'll be able to hum the tunes when the scene presents itself. Or something.

If you disappear for a month, and no one has a clue what happened, it disrupts the game. So...We'll do out best to be fair. We'd prefer not to do this either. But If it becomes necessary to keep the game fun for others, it IS an option.

So, if you're going to be away, DO try and get a message to us?

Firstly, Musak Update! O_O Kwok's theme is IN, and the first person to PM me with a request gets to pick their theme next!

And now, for my long, long speech...

There's something I want to clear with each player.

This RPG has no clear and distinct goals in it. We may present objectives to you; you might set a goal for your own character on your own and attempt to achieve that.

If dislike attempting to attain one objective, you can abandon it. This will have consequences, like everything else, but we won't punish you for making important descions contrary to what we belive should happen. You can not give us much to work with; if Kaoru decides to settle back down to the dojo and start a family, her choice, and I won't punish her for it. Her consequences come later; perhaps Shishio wins over Japan, and seeks to hurt Kenshin even when Kenshin is in the grave by hurting who Kenshin once loved.

You can do *anything* you want to the game world in order to attain your own goals. If you want to try and bring peace to the world, make yourself the ruler over it, become as much like the person you wanted to be, go to China and see if Jusenkyo exists, shack up with Kagome because she's hot, by all means try.

Anything is possible in this RPG; your goals are what shapes it, moreso than other RPG's, and that's why I'm making such a big deal of it.

This lead directly into finding what your own goals are.

Your personality is slowly merging with that of your selected character. No, you won't ever become exactly like them; your two personalities will merge into something new, a combination of the two, which decides it's own goals.

And remember: everyone's personality continues to develop throughout their entire lives. They see things which change their outlooks on lives, they do things which make their thoughts different.

It's always, always, ALWAYS down to you to exactly what happens and who you are. Me and Bean will *always* sway to accomodate what your character is attempting to do. And not only do we suggest you coming up with your own objectives, your own unique personality being created from the two, your own outlooks towards what you're trying to do, we DEMAND it.

There *are* no constants in this RPG, except what you people set down.
