You just wander. You let your feet and the realm guide you.

It's a valley. A sharp and angular valley amid the mountains, a few buildings around the still strong stream that goes through it, as well as others higher up.  A few farm plots, a school, the things you'd expect at the beginning of a settlement.

There's only a single person out, a middle aged dwarf who looks to be panning for gold in the waters.

[Iron Dragoon]

Alyssa approaches him with wave and a smile.

[Anastasia]

The dwarf looks up, "Morning to you," he calls as he pans, "Name's Baryin. You?"

[Iron Dragoon]

"Alyssa. How's the panning going? Enough trace to call for a mine?"

[Anastasia]

"Yes," he answers, and after a moment reaches into a bag. "Got this, too." He takes out a sky blue, uncut gemstone about the size of your finger nail. It seems to catch the sunlight and glimmer with radiance. Without looking up he flips it up, into your hands. "This is yours, or should be yours."

[Iron Dragoon]

Alyssa looks it over.

What is it? Just a gem?

[Anastasia]

It's a beautiful gemstone. It's not like one you've ever seen before, and it seems to pulse in your hand in tune to your heartbeat.

Anything I can roll here to figure this out?

[Anastasia]

Nothing rings a bell - but as you hold the gem, you feel warmth come from it. Warmth and acceptance, almost as if it projected that feeling towards you.

[Iron Dragoon]

Alyssa considers it, then turns to the Dwarf, "Normally I'm not inclined to accept anything like tribute from our people, Baryin. Anything of that sort, I want going back into the realm to help everyone... But... this is very unusual. I actually can't place it at all, other than it seems to have some sort of acceptance of me... When you have time, come to the Academy. Once I've figured out what this is, you'll be given a fair trade for it."

[Anastasia]

"It wasn't mine, could feel it," he says at last, "The roads took me here, got a sense for that over the years." He looks up from his panning, "Whatever it is, it's meant to be yours."
