Krog's eyes widened before he grinned toothily. "As long as little human one understand that Krog still want half of what find, Krog throw in bonus for little human one with big purse! Krog use special Krog magic and save little human one as many times as little human one need!"

Krog paused and looked over the girl's appearance briefly, before nodding seriously, as if deciding he's definitely doing Ayane a big favor, and expects to be saving her life many, many times.

Sixty was a cheap bodyguard.  A little...well, more than a little touched in the head, but no matter.  "That sounds fair.  You can have all the really heavy stuff, for such a brave..strong fellow," She half teased half flirted...and then headed along.  Brutes were easy to deal with.  Her feet smoothly flowed over the sharp slope with the greatest of ease as she headed down, stopping before the sand and listening, looking over the route ahead.

Well, Goodbye.

Krog shook his head, and let the little human lead for now. The girl hadn't even really looked at the first book, he thought as he put the book away, feeling a little mournful. Rule 1 was the most important one after all, she should at least have looked at it.

Krog think important have meatbag to take first hit. Krog save meatbag and know what to hit before Krog get hit. was written in both common and orc'ish underneath pictures he'd made of his first adventure, where the book's first four pages were dedicated to images of Krog joining an adventuring party, adventuring party triggering trap, Krog healing friends, and Krog smashing trap.

"Krog hope have enough Krog special magic for little human one..." he muttered under his breath in orc'ish as he watched Ayane.

Hopefully the girl was capable in her own ways, whatever they might be (though Krog was very certain, at least, that strength was not one of them). Krog knew he wasn't very smart, and he couldn't say if he made a good deal or a bad deal in terms of money, but in terms of survival, it was surely a good one. Because if you didn't survive, who would share the glory and wisdom of life with everyone else?

> roll 1d20+7 balance
* Hatbot --> "Ko-away rolls 1d20+7 and gets 9." [1d20=2]

> roll 1d20+17
* Hatbot --> "Ko-away rolls 1d20+17 and gets 19." [1d20=2]

Rotten luck for Ayane.

> roll 1d20-6
* Hatbot --> "Ko-away rolls 1d20-6 and gets -1." [1d20=5]

> roll 1d6
* Hatbot --> "Ko-away rolls 1d6 and gets 4." [1d6=4]

Sorry, Krog.

Ayane travels down the hill! It's a little steeper than she imagines and she slips a bit. While it's not so abject a failure as to go tumbling down, she does bang her knee. (1 point of damage.) On recovering from that, she notes that the slope has a few slightly jagged stones, like little tripstones on the slope. Not too hard to avoid if one knows they are there. Ayane feels as if it shouldn't be a problem a second time now that she knows to look out for them.

Speaking of those, Krog  trips on one! Unlike Ayane he' s considerably off balance, rolling down the hill in a mess! Thunk! Clunk! Splash! His cart rolls down with him, but luck is on Krog's side. It doesn't tip, instead just splashing the ale around. (4 damage.)

At the bottom, you come to a large circular room, the slope coming down on the western side. There's a plain single door to the east, an iron door and pull ring to the north, and an arched stone portal to the south. The latter's dark, the other two have burning torches near the doors, on wall holders.

"You okay?" She eyed the lug, and pulled him to his feet, hiding her own slight accident as if it'd never happened.

"Keep your feet under you," She remarked, testing the sand with a foot.
Well, Goodbye.

Anastasia

The sand is soft and firm. On a quick guess, there's a foot or so of loosely packed sand atop the ground in this room.

Ayane walked over it and headed east, examining the plain door briefly before opening it and looking into the next room.
Well, Goodbye.

Anastasia

Do you mean that to be a search check or just generically looking the door over, Ayane?

Across the door handle is a sigil - of a red eagle soaring over a white river. The door opens smoothly, and inside looks to be a plain square room. However, it is bisected by a heavy wooden defensive barrier, with spiked wooded stakes jutting out from each side. Little walls of wood rise up from it, perfect places for an archer to be. Strangely, however, you do not see a single soul ahead. Past all this, you can see a narrow hallway leading deeper in past this.

It doesn't look too difficult to cross if one isn't disturbed. It's only four feet tall save for the archery stands and the spikes have bits of space between them.

Ayane walks over to them, cautious and ready for some something to be hidden behind there.  Casually leaping over it, she turns quickly on her heels to see if anything was indeed behind it.

Krog scowls. "Krog fine. No happy Krog fall, but thank little human one for concern."

Krog looks around to see if there's anything else besides that one door and the portal around.

Ayane finds out that the battlements are abandoned. She sees no one of interest, just the door ahead awaiting.

Krog sees that there are -two- doors at the sandy bottom as well as the arched stone way. Ayane opened the plain door, the metal door with a pullring awaits, as does the dark stoneway. In the room Ayane is in, there is a single door ahead past all the battlements.

"This way is clear," Ayane called back, slowly walking down the way.  "Come on.  You're not doing a good job at selling your books."
Well, Goodbye.

"Krog still alive. Krog is clumsy and not smart, but Krog survive many fights. Why that, little human one? Krog no believe in luck. Only strength no keep Krog alive," Krog replied with a hurt sniffle, as he tried to explain himself, though that looks to be all he says on the matter for now as he checks his cart for further damage and making sure everything is secure before lumbering after Ayane.
