<Kotono> ---
<Kotono> OOC: Okay Lucy, anything in particular you're looking into here or just generally going over it?
<Lucy> OOC: I will work methodically through my notes. If I run into something that puzzles me, I'll consult with Kamhoff.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay. Make a K:A check.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+16
* Hatbot --> "Lucy rolls 1d20+16 and gets 17." 12 [1d20=1]
<Kotono> Maybe Lucy's just been tired the past few days, but she doesn't make a lot of headway. A consultation feels like it wound make a lot of sense.
<Lucy> While she does have some pride, it rarely gets in the way when there is magical knowledge to be gained! She thinks so, anyway. It's a very strong feeling, even if she can't quite remember ever doing so in the past. Thus, she heads out to seek Kamhoff's insight into her no-doubt exciting notes!
<Kotono> You track down Kamhoff in his lab. His dog's curled up at his feet as he sits before a work bench. He's fiddling with the stone coins Veren gave him, as well as some silky string.
<Kotono> OOC: Gah.
<Kotono> You track down Kamhoff in his lab. His dog's curled up at his feet as he sits before a work bench. He's fiddling with the stone coins Veren gave him, as well as some silky string. "Oh, did you bring me something?" he asks without looking up.
<Lucy> "I'm afraid not. Rather, I have a different problem. I would appreciate some help sorting all this out," Lucy tells him. "I made a rudimentary directory to work with the material, but so much of it is either esoteric or seemingly unconnected to one another that my progress is unacceptably slow."
<Kotono> "Uh huh." Putting the coins and string aside, "Hand it over?"
* Lucy presents the first binder of the material, complete with its own index. This one regards the unusual magical theories of this world.
<Kotono> "Oh, runic magic? I experiment with that shit myself," he says as he reads, "It's better as a supplement to creating things rather than on the fly, active spellcasting. Too finicky in the heat of the moment."
<Lucy> "The same activation method as for wands? Or something trickier?"
<Kotono> "Trickier," he remarks as he reads on, "He's right about light wizards, too," he adds, "They're all insane. Good helmsmen, though."
<Lucy> "So we might as well hire one at our first stop?"
<Kotono> "That's the plan," he says, "I'll ferret someone up in Freeport Rock."
<Lucy> "It might be interesting to observe one in person," she muses. "Ah, but back to the runes. Are they similar to perishables such as scrolls? I would very much like to see one in action."
<Kotono> "They can serve the same purpose," Kamhoff remarks as he checks another sheaf of notes. "
<Kotono> OOC: Gah.
<Kotono> "They can serve the same purpose," Kamhoff remarks as he checks another sheaf of notes. "The right runes on the right stones, anyway."
<Lucy> "You know how to make both?"
<Kotono> He nods as he reads, "I do. There's no real advantage to one or the other. Same concepts, different expression."
<Lucy> "Well, that's disappointing. It might be nice as a novelty, but hardly worth the while if enough people are aware that a stone you are holding might actually have a spell within it." She peers at the notes he's going over. "How about the rest of it? Was there anything of interest overlooked?"
<Kotono> "There is," he says, "Give me a few days with them," he remarks.
<Lucy> "Of course. I'll come up with another section once we're done with this one. Ah, and in the meantime, would you happen to have anything interesting to share with me so I could pass my time?"
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
