<Kotono> Jetina and Lucy are alone, sharing lunch. It's not a great one, but sometimes you just don't feel like going out. Or at least Jetina didn't. She's rather quiet most of the meal, until she asks, "Lucy, I need to ask you something."
<Lucy> "On a scale from one to ten, how embarrassing is it?"
<Kotono> "...ten." Jetina closes her eyes and sighs, blushing. "When I was in prayer recently, I realized something. What you're doing, if you look at it the right way." A stop there, "Lucy, are you interested in me?"
<Lucy> "Definitely," Lucy asserts. "I absolutely won't let you die in some stupid way humans do so often, don't worry!"
<Kotono> "Oh. Well..." A nervous laugh, "You're really forthright about it."
<Lucy> "I'm not seducing you if that's what you mean. Is that what you mean? It helps for friends to be really clear with each other!"
<Kotono> "Oh!" Suddenly Jetina sighs in heavy relief, "Thank Qupan! I thought that maybe...and I wanted to put you down gently, since I like men."
<Lucy> Lucy gives her a hooded look. "Wizard here. Please! But anyway, I don't have time for relationships like that, you know? I love research and the right sort of magic! It will always come in first, you know, and that's fine for close friends but I don't want to deal with the drama of 'why do you love your beautiful magic more than me' and-- I really feel like it happened a lot before, and I've

<Kotono> Lucy reddens, "Of course, wizard," she mutters, "But I'm glad we cleared this up."

* Lucy blinks. "Wait. Does that mean you didn't like dancing? I already had plans to take us riding but if you want to go with some man instead I guess I'll ask Miss Aria instead...."
<Kotono> "Wait, what?" Jetina blinks and stops, before turning red. "Lucy, we're talking about romance and what lovers do, right? That's what I was talking about there."
* Lucy tilts her head. "You thought I was hitting on you because I invited you to have fun in town, right? And it bothered you? If that's how it is, I don't really want to bother you like that."
<Kotono> "No, I thought you might think it was all romantic. I like doing things with you - as a friend." Jetina explains, still painfully red. "I wanted to make sure you didn't misunderstand or think that I was returning affections that you might hold."
<Lucy> How adorable of Jetina to think she would have a choice in the matter if Lucy got serious! "I suppose I can see why you might think that, after spending the better part of a month with us on the ship. Really, there is no selection whatsoever."
<Kotono> Jetina giggles at that, "I know! Pepo's a cat, Kamhoff....no." She shivers at that, "Moore's a pixie and Veren...well, he's nice, but...he hasn't really caught my attention. Ah well, romance has many years yet to be found."
<Lucy> "I think... and it took me a while to realize, but it just might be that Veren is... an idiot," Lucy confides in Jetina. "A genuine one. They usually don't survive this long, so it has puzzled me for a good long while."
<Kotono> "Hmmm. No, I don't think so," Jetina says, shaking her head as her mirth dies down. "He seems smart enough to me. Just perhaps not as wise as one who follows Qupan's wisdom."
<Lucy> So less wise than a cultist. Lucy mulls over it before shrugging. "Maybe. Anyway, how about we go riding tomorrow? Or the day after, if there are a lot of fun celebrations planned? We can think about teleporting over to see your home island, it shouldn't really be that hard for me."
<Kotono> "Sure," Jetina smiles, "I'll show you how to ride a horse."
