I'll find some solitude to avoid hurting anyone and open the book.

Got any means of opening the lock? That's contingent for the trap to trigger.
<Afina> Imagine a tiny pixie boot stamping on a devil's face.
<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Corwin

I had two dispels left for the day, and it doesn't look like failed dispelling discharges the fire trap.

[19:27] <@Annerose> roll 1d20+6 dispel
[19:27] <Myannbot> Annerose rolled 1d20+6 dispel --> [ 1d20=8 ]{14}
[19:27] <@Annerose> roll 1d20+6 dispel
[19:27] <Myannbot> Annerose rolled 1d20+6 dispel --> [ 1d20=20 ]{26}

Let's do it this way and T can get the lock.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Anastasia

The second attempt successfully dispels the trap. T gets right down to picking the lock. He'll take 20 since he has plenty of time and there's no danger now.

Orcustome

A copy of a heretical book said to be authored by a demon known as Orcus. It explains the profane rites to animate the dead - or so it goes, since T takes one look at the title and refuses to read further. If any of you are curious, you're welcome to read it.

T wholeheartedly seconds this.

Ebiris

whole lotta burnin' going on.

Anastasia

I assume. Waiting on Neph to chime in before it's officially toasty.

Erad wants nothing to do with demons.

Anastasia

Okay you mentioned some sort of ceremony, Annerose? For the burning.

A magical circle similar in design to those used in MCaE with the four basic elements arranged around it. An application of Cold Fire will make the fire friendly to me, while keeping it burning at a nice and happy gold.

Anastasia

Sounds like a plan.

The book burns. It releases thick plumes of black smoke, smelling like spices and rot. It's choking but doesn't last long, the flames rising higher as the unholy tome is immolated.

This one doesn't burn - it explodes into a flower-shape of razor sharp planes of ice. Fortunately it doesn't reach far enough to threaten Annerose.

As an update to the bracers, Erad will just take Inari's +1 and start saving up for some +3 of his own. :)

Ebiris

Oh, as a note Inari will also abstain from receiving any share of the rest of the loot, given the expensive armour bracelet she got, just in case it wasn't obvious.
