Arael smiled her thanks as she let herself be guided inside. Wiping her eyes she muttered, "I'm so sorry to be a burden like this."

Stepping outside, Miaka saw people travening the road in front of the house.

Smacking her forehead for her stupidity, Miaka reentered the house, found her way to the room Clara had shown her earlier and entered the smaller room where she had changed clothes. She took a pen and a piece of paper from her backpack, writing 'Don't touch this, or Tamahome will kick your butt!' in her messy but legible scrawl, and then put her note on the ground, ancoring its corner with the base for the teleporting rod.

Satisfied that the writing was visible, and that the base was holding the paper in place, Miaka put the pen back into her backpack, and skipped outside again. Once in the front yard, she decided to investigate the outskirts of the city to the west, knowing that they were too far if she took the direction she came from with Arkanel.

"No burden dear.  Us women have to look out for each other."

Hitomi opened the door and led Arael inside.  She was greeted by an opulent rectangular room.   A deep red carpet covered the entire floor, and a stair way led up from the middle of the room.  The stairway ended in an open hallway, where people standing there could see the door and the foyer area.  A woman walked past out of view.

To the right was a large set of double doors, currently open and Hitomi led the woman through them.  The room was equal in size, and had several deep couches and a few cushions on the ground.  She moved the girl to one of the couches, a short coffee table sat in front of it and indicated for Arael to sit.

Two other women sat chatting amiably in the room, one brunette, one blonde.  They were attractive and appeared to be in their early twenties.  Neither was dressed as nicely as Hitomi, but they wore nice dresses that accentuated their figures.

"Sarah, Darling will you get a bottle of brandy and a couple of glasses for me and my guest."

The blonde stood and nodded, before moving out the room.

"You have nothing to worry about.  I'm sure I can find someone to escort you to Camelot.  It's not all that far," she soothed to the other girl.

Miaka walked down the path.  She noted a few people about, walking in the lamplight.

She noted mostly houses along the way, a diner and general store were clearly marked.

She could hear a river running before she saw it in the distance.  A bridge ran over it.

The last house before the river was a rather large townhome situated just off the road.

"I'm not very good with alcohol," Arael protested weakly. "And Mr. Arkanel has some guests that seem to be heading that way already. I was thinking of going with them." She wiped her eyes, trying to shake off her earlier melancholy.

"And Mr. Devon is go-erk!" She blushed and turned from the older woman, twiddling her fingers. "Um, that is to say, I think I want to go with them."

Hitomi laughed lightly.  "If you wish to travel with others that's fine.  But why were you so distraught about it?"

Miaka walked over to the bridge, looked around to see there was no one to see her, and then crouched and activated the teleporter rod like she'd seen Arkanel demonstrate.

The world tunred white for a second, and she reappeared in the changing room.

Miaka looked at the door to the room, opening it, to see whether it had a lock to it, and if so whether it had a key in it, and whether it could be locked and opened from both outside and inside.

Miaka noted that there was a simple sliding bolt on the door. Currently in an open position.

Miaka went into the sleeping area, and closed the door to the changing room behind her, though leaving the bolt open. She again took out her pen, and another piece of paper, writing upon it, "Miaka's Super Private Dressing Room." She chewed on the edge of her pen a bit, before adding below in smaller writing, "Stay out, perverts, or face my supremely dominating female wrestling moves!"

Nodding to herself in satisfaction, Miaka taped the note to the door with duct tape, and walked outside again, whistling merrily.

Miaka found it quite dark out now.  And closing in on the time of her meeting.  She figured she have to kill 15 or 30 minutes  if she left now for the bridge again.

Miaka went inside to look for Clara, wanting something to munch on in her spare time.

"My mother was a good woman," Arael began, her eyes unfocused as they stared into the past and viewed old memories. "She was everything a woman everything to Father and I. I really don't know how to describe her. How do you describe perfection without flawing it?" She took on a wistful tone.

"Like I said, she was everything to us, even though I can't remember her that well. I remember enough, though. And then she grew ill one summer a long time ago. I don't really remember the funeral that well either. One day she was there and the next gone.

"Father always said that I was the reason he kept going after that. I do know that he took great care of me after that. He never forgot a birthday and would always compliment my cooking, that sort of thing. It was... nice." The wistfulness turned bitter.

"And then she came along. That... That... Woman! Sure she was nice on the outside, but behind closed doors she was a fiend. That gold digging hussy!" Arael suddenly snapped back to the present, seemingly shocked at her own language.

"Excuse me! I don't know where that came from."
