Lafiel smiled softy and went to hug Miaka.  A sharp pain coursed through Miaka's side, and her vision started to go fuzzy.

"I'm sorry," Lafiel said softly.

Miaka stared at the older girl, the red-head's eyes widened in shock. "Lafiel," she mumbled, the single word coming out as an accusation. Miaka stumbled in Lafiel's grasp, losing her hold on the lamp Clara had given her as her left arm went slack, the right one shortly following suit.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

The sound of footsteps was the last sounds Miaka heard before unconsciousness took her.

"I don't really know them well, but yes, they seem to be going that way."

"That's convienient," Hitomi said.  "Arael, why are they going?"

Remdos was about to ask for possibly something to snack on, when Clara left. Scratching his head, he decided to just turn in for the night and eat something in the morning, not wanting to go back upstairs just to get some food. Plopping onto the nearest bed, he closed his eyes and went to sleep.
<Cidward> God willing, we'll all meet in Buttquest 2: The Quest for More Butts.

"They seemed to have some business with Mr. Arkanel," Arael admitted. "I'm not really sure why, though. I think there was something about a quest one mentioned? After dinner we all just sort of split up."

Hitomi looked at Areal sternly.  "So you didn't find out anything about them.  Isn't it risky to travel with such people then?  You never know what they might do to a defensless girl like yourself?"

"I... but Miaka was traveling as well, and..." Arael let her voice trail away momentarily.

"But would Mr. Arkanel deal with those kind of people?"

kpjam

"Oh, so you aren't the only girl in the party.  That makes me feel a little better.  Is Arkanel traveling with you?"

Hitomi looked at the Arael curiously, "And it doesn't sound Like Arkanel to go pick up people either...  I wonder why he did that?"

"Hm," Arael humed. She held her chin in her hand while a look of concentration replaced the worry that had adorned her face moments before.

"Someone else asked that while I was there as well. Mr. Arkanel seemed reluctant to go himself. Something about healing, I think he said."

kpjam

"So there's you and Miaka, how many others are in this pilgrimage to Camelot?" Hitomi asked sweetly.

"Mr. Devon and Mr. Guy whose name I don't remember and somebody else makes three others. So five I guess, even if Mr. Arkanel doesn't think I should go." Her look turned petulant.

"I mean, why shouldn't AI go? What's so bad about this Zephiel guy that I need to stay away from where he pokes? You don't seem bothered by it."

Hitomi smiled.  "Zaphiel is a great man," she said a bit wistfully.  It's smart for most people to stay out of brotherly squabbles."

The woman who left earlier, returned, carrying a silver tray, with a crystal decantor, containing a brown liquid.  She approached while Hitomi spoke and placed the tray on the small table in front of them.

When she started pouring, Hitomi spoke to her.  "Our friend isn't fond of spirits?"

The woman nodded, and only poured one glass, before retreating.

Hitomi returned her attention to Areal.  "If Arkanel picked you up, why wouldn't he want you to go?  I mean he does intent to meddle with Zaphiel, so it's strange to bring you here, and then tell you not to go."

Arael blinked a bit at that and began twiddling her fingers again.

"I was a little lost when Mr. Arkanel found me, but I'm sure I would have gotten here eventually. Almost certainly within the week, I'm positive." Her voice betrayed a slight uncertainty, however.

"Mr. Arkanel was nice enough to get me back on the path and offer me a place to stay the night. He seems nice enough."
