[Halbarad]

Hikaru nods. "I suppose we might as well get started then." Without further preamble, she casts her Detect Magic spell, although quietly enough not to attract attention from the bushi practicing in the yard ahead.

[Carthrat]

Hikaru sees two bushi that are with a magical aura. Further checking reveals that they are both under the effect of minor Transmutation magic. Furthermore, a few bushi have magical weapons, though not the bushi themselves enchanted.

[Halbarad]

Hikaru speaks to her companions in a low voice. "There are a few magical weapons, but there are two bushi being affected by Transmutation magic. The one in the brown gi with the blue headband, with the green hair, and the red-haired one in the light green gi."

[Ebiris]

"Transmutation... that could mean a polymorph spell," Fuu sighs. "I hope not, but we had best take them in for 'questioning' to be sure."

[Corwin]

"I'm up for some fun," Umi says, before making her way to the first bushi indicated by Hikaru, stopping at a short distance from her target and waiting for him to acknowledge her.

[Carthrat]

The bushi looks over at Umi after a short while. "Uh, can I help you, miss.." he says, looking kinda shy.

[Corwin]

"Umi. Dragonsblossom Umi." She smiles, flicking a loose strand of blue hair behind her ear. "May I now have the honor of knowing your name?"

[Carthrat]

"Tenko Senko," he replies. "Um.. did you want something?"

[Corwin]

"A spar," she replies, giving him another smile. "Your training routine caught my eye, and I wanted to test myself against you. Would you be so kind as to grant me this wish?"

[Carthrat]

"Uh, sure," he says. "Did you want a practice sword?" he says, gesturing to a small rack of wooden swords..

[Corwin]

Umi walks up to the rack, and picks a practice sword she'd be comfortable with, giving it a few test swings. "Yes, this will do nicely, I think," she tells Senko, sliding into a stance opposite of him.

[Carthrat]

"Uh, ok," he says, settling into his own stance.

Umi instantly picks up that it's not the standard kendo stance most elven bushi use; the Kaze no Tenchi Ryuu style. It's more a variant on an aggressive human style; perhaps the Matsu, or possibly a province further inland?

[Corwin]

Umi shows no outwards signs of noticing her opponent's unusual stance, and decides to try and take him out off the start, with an overhead strike.

[Carthrat]

The boy seems surprisngly good, blocking her blow on his own weapon, then trying some kind of spinning technique which left his side wide open for Umi to score a blow, perhaps a little more powerful than it should have been.

Another couple of thwacks and the boy was out cold.

Umi looks around, and noticing the other bushi that Hikaru indicated earlier watching her, she gestures him over. "Could you help me take my sparring partner into the barracks?" she asks, picking up the boy's upper body.
