For what it's worth, apparently the Wii sensor bar is actually just a pair of IR sources, one at each end, and all the location calculations are going on in the remote. So you can replace the sensor bar with any pair of rough IR point sources, such as candle flames, in the same location, and have it more or less work. (Disclaimer: I have never tried this.)

I almost caused a multiple-car collision ... by stopping for a pedestrian.

One of those areas where the offramp merges with an overpass, so there's a pedestrian walkway with a crosswalk going across the offramp.  The SUV behind me slowed to a graceful stop, but the white Lexus behind it raised a very high plume of smoke from the tires while braking.  Another ten feet up and I think it would have been able to smash the SUV into me -- and possibly the pedestrian.

Before that, the christmas music ... some bizzare hip-hop/electronica version of Carol of the Bells remixed with a bluesey Santa Clause is Coming to Town.  My ears....  My poor ears....

I was not able to get a moment free to even EAT today until I finally just walked out of the office after shutting everything off for the weekend, completely ignoring the ringing phone and the emails awaiting replies from me. As I drove out of the parking lot, I was eating my breakfast and nursing a minor migraine.
