Damage reduction does not apply to the damage there, nor does cold resistance/immunity. You'll see why in a sec.

Hanna's surprisingly fast, even more than Afina, who hesitates. She zips up and avoids the water, while Afina is somehow caught off guard. A splash gets her right on the front of her left shoulder and runs down it. In a moment, everything a jagged part of her left shoulder down her left arm and hand is ice. Fragile ice, crumbling already as Afina's left arm is simply gone. The only blessing is that the water completely numbs the area and freezes it, no blood able to pour from her stump.

Jaela dives and pushes Mirajane out of the way, back to the water. It hits her wings, which quickly freeze over and begin to crumble. She's starting to fall, wings gone. At least she's in the same state as Afina, numb and not bleeding - for now.

Init here. Afina, you're minus an arm so two handing isn't an option, plus any obvious drawbacks. Jaela, your wings are toast, so you're starting to fall. You'll be falling on your turn, though you'll have time to react.

Even if her reflexes fail her, a flare of magic intercepts the water before it can make contact, saving Afina from Jaela's unpleasant fate. Didn't something like this happen before too? Sadly they don't have any of that special water around to make replacement wings.

"Everyone clear some room, we don't want to get splashed by that!" Afina says, speeding herself up so she can lower the water levels so splashing is unlikely to reach high enough to get them and to give Jaela more time to hopefully recover before plunging into the water herself!

6th level slot for 1 round time stop, using control water SLA to lower water level by 48 feet in a 240x240 square. Will do other stuff with my remaining actions once time stop ends depending on what's revealed. Keeping the SR check for prismatic spray here just in case I end up using that after all

Quick note: In the future when there's an edit that isn't fairly immediate for this sort of thing, I'd rather you just make an appended new post rather than editing the old. Oftentimes I rely on who posted last to see if I need to post, I can miss edits like this which leads to delays. Thanks. At the very least, toss an OOC post after mine that you made an edit.

The water lowers. Below you can see something massive - the top of a head that takes up most of the space that you revealed, only the very top tips of its eyes visible at the newly lowered waterline. It looks like a creature made purely of ice, radiating intense cold.

Both Jaela and Afina can identify the absolutely titanic creature. It is a primal ice elemental. They're the strongest elementals known save for unique ones such as the Archomentals. They are overwhelmingly powerful, strike with Cold's full power and have an aura of overwhelming cold around them. They can transform into huge blizzards and throw around primal magic with the barest effort. Oh, and then tend to be big. Really big, as this one, based on its head, is probably hundreds if not thousands of feet tall.

The only weakness they have is fire, though many have means to stop fire damage or otherwise mitigate it.
