Hanna and Mirajane glance down at the same time, "It's not meant to be hostile, it's a safeguard to keep you out of the water. I think." She says, "Also, I don't see that thing coming up to attack Grandmother. At least not yet."

"Well lets trust it for now," Afina says, folding her arms over her chest as her feet are held snug on the platform, though she keeps her gaze directed in Hanna's direction in case quick action is required.

Hanna stays at the ready, fists out as she asks, "Do you know or are you guessing?"

"Guessing, but it doesn't seem hostile. I don't see any futures where it deliberately harms us, and glimpses of going into the water are as bad as when Mother got her wings splashed."

"Maybe you got yourself a fan?" Jaela asks Hanna with a shrug.

[Anastasia]

Hanna merely gazes at Jaela, unamused. But with nothing else happening, your ride continues. Soon there's nothing but water in every direction, until...

In the meantime, Mirajane recasts divine insight on herself.

"BRACE!" Mirajane calls, throwing her arms up over her face to shield herself.

Afina promptly squats down and digs her fingers into the ice with one hand to better support herself while offering a smaller profile to any splashes that come, with the other hand free to cast any spells that might prove necessary.

"Stand fast!" Jaela calls out at such an ambiguous warning, bestowing Celestial Valor upon all of them.

Hanna intones a quick word of celestial, a shimmering shield appearing before her. Not a second later, a phantasm of ice appears before you. It is a skeleton wearing old black robes, carrying a black scythe. The blade of the scythe boils and twists, as if trying to bury itself within its own metal. Before any of you can react it's on all of you, slashing and hacking away.

Afina, your defense grants you a +4 circumstance bonus to armor class. Mirajane gets a +2 circumstance bonus for her bracing.
